I Just Got Hired

Drake was waiting up for Anna outside her classroom for him to take her home after the day's lectures. During their break earlier, Anna had showed him her timetable and that was how he knew the last lecture she would be having for the day which was Mathematics.

"Hey Drake, you were waiting up for me already?" she called out to him as she stepped out of the classroom.

"Yes before Nicole will steal you away from me again" he answered smiling and walked up to her.

"Is someone beginning to get jealous of my friendship with Nicole?" she teased.

"I wouldn't be if she doesn't interfere with my time with you" he replied.

"Anna!" a feminine voice squeals from behind them and when they turnaround it was Nicole.

"Speaking of the devil" Drake groaned with an eye roll and Anna chuckled.

"Gossiping about me?" she chirped in and wrapped her arms on both Drake and Anna's shoulders.

"Get your silly hands off me!" Drake scolded and removed her hand forcefully.

"Go away, I don't even need you around me anymore now that I have Anna to play with and do other stuffs with" she retorted and held on to Anna and pecked her on the cheek.

"That's gross, don't do that to her, rather go meet your boyfriend he must be waiting for you" he said wanting to discharge her so he could have a private moment with Anna.

"I'm right over here babe" Brad's voice answered and they glanced over at the left hand side the voice had come from. He was with Jay as usual. Both guys walked over to them.

"It's great you're here. Please take her away from us, Ann and I got some things to finish up" Drake said.

"I perceive you're lying just to get me away from Anna. Brad don't listen to him, whatever he has to do with Anna can wait" Nicole replied scowling at Drake.

"But babe we have somewhere to go to right? Let them be, you can always see Anna at school or we'll pay her a visit at her house" Brad said and went over to Nicole and stood beside her.

A wide grin of triumph spreads on Drake's face and Nicole eyed him wearily and slowly let go of Anna while Anna just smiled all through the conversation.

"Anna would you welcome us if we decide to pay you a visit soon?" Jay asked.

"Of course! You're welcome to my house anytime. Well, anytime for now before I get a job".

"You're looking for a job?!" Nicole yelled causing a little bit of attention towards them. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound loud".

"I've told you to work on your high-pitched voice but you wouldn't listen rather you're busy building up your ass".

"Drake! That's my girlfriend you're talking about!" Brad exclaimed and hit Drake's chest lightly and Anna and Jay laughed.

"You see, one of this days I'm going to choke you because you always don't mind your goddamn business" Nicole snapped at Drake and shot him a playful glare.

"Both of you should calm down, I was only messing with Nicole. But seriously you should work on your high-pitched voice and leave your...."

"I dare you to complete it and you'll see how I'll shove your balls apart right now" Nicole threatens cutting Drake off and she stepped forward.

"Woah, you're such an aggressive young lady. Brad be careful with her" Drake laughed and they all burst into laughter.

"Back to what we were saying, Anna do you really need a job?" Nicole asked this time around in a moderate tone of voice.

"Yeah I really do need it. If you have anywhere in mind just...."

"I do" Nicole interrupted Anna grinning widely.

"You do?" Anna asked somewhat surprise.

"Yes I do. My uncle owns an ice cream shop and he urgently needs a sales person to assist him with it".

"For real?!" Anna gasps.

"Yes for real! If you want the job I'll tell him to hire you immediately" she said cheerfully and Anna gasps again and glanced at Drake.

"Wow! Of course I need the job. Please inform him about me, I'll be really grateful if I get this job".

"Then the job is all yours. Don't worry about the pay, he pays handsomely well".

"Thank you so much Nicole, I'm so grateful" Anna said with excitement all over her face.

"C'mon don't thank me, it's nothing. Is just a way to prove to this jerk here that I'm a better friend to you than him" she winks at Anna and she laughed.

"Why are you picking on my friendship with Ann?" Drake asked exasperatingly.

"Don't mind Nicole, she could be like that when she likes someone" Brad smiled and wrapped his arms around Nicole's waist.

"You can say that again baby" she kissed Brad's cheek and Jay gave a manly growl.

"Please not right now. You two should go somewhere private and play your cards. Ann let's leave" Drake said and held Anna's hand.

"Stop being jealous and get a girlfriend" Nicole retorted and kissed Brad on his lips.

"He already did, can't you see it? I'm the only one without a girlfriend" Jay whines and they chuckled.

"You have many girls you sleep with, just pick one out of them" Nicole replied.

"Shut up, you talk too much" Jay scolded and she giggled.

"Hey guys, we'll see you all around, for now Nicole and I have somewhere important to go" Brad said.

"I'll get in touch with you Anna through D-cool" Nicole wiggled her brows when she say that and Drake shot her a murderous glare.

Both girls giggled and Nicole and her boyfriend Brad left Drake, Anna and Jay.

"So, Jay, what are you up to?" Drake asked and Jay shrugged with open arms.

"Can I be a third-party to you guys?" he asked.

"Nope, sorry you can't. My ride is just for two" Drake replied smiling.

"I hate you all for abandoning me this way. Someday I'll find someone of my own" Jay replied fake hurting and started walking away while Drake and Anna watched him leave.

A pretty lady who is also a student in the school was walking towards his direction and then a smile broke on his lips and he glanced back briefly at his friends. "I think I've found one!" he yelled and jogged towards the lady.

"I trust you on that!" Drake yelled back and Anna giggled. They both watched as he met with the lady and he said something that got the lady laughing. "He always knows how to catch ladies attention" he said in almost a whisper and Anna snickered.

"That's right" she agreed and he glanced down at her. "Your friends are really something, I like them" she gave a grin.

"You do?" he asked raising a brow at her and she nods. "Okay, I was actually thinking they'll be much of a trouble for you".

"No, I like them this way. There's nothing I love more than seeing someone be their self without any form of pretense".

"I like the last part of what you just said" he smiled and she returned his smile. "C'mon let me take you home, I've got to resume my shift in an hour time".

"Are you sure you want to take me home or you should just go home and rest for a little while before going to work?".

"I want to take you home. Don't worry about me resting, I'll be fine".

"Okay, if you insist. Thanks Drake, you've been really helpful".

He nods and both of them walked out of the hallway to where Drake parked his bike. They both hopped on the bike and he drove her home.

Later in the evening, Anna took a stroll around her neighborhood. In her neighborhood there's a mini park about five minutes away from her home.

"Wow, isn't this place such a beauty to behold? The next time Drake come around we'll hang out here" she thought aloud smiling to herself and she took a sit on one of the wooden bench at the Park.

The ringing tone of her phone came alive and she dig out her phone from her Jean pocket and picked up the call. "Anna speaking" she answered.

"Hey Anna, it's Nicole. I just left my uncle's shop and guess what?".

"Did he say yes?" Anna asked quietly.

"Yes he did. You're up for hire girl and you're to resume tomorrow by 4pm!" Nicole exclaimed on her end.

"Yes!" Anna squealed excitedly jumping up and down. "Thank you so much Nicole for what you just did, I'm so grateful".

"You're most welcome. After school hours tomorrow I'll take you there".

"Thank you. You've really made me happy".

"Enough of the thank you, I'll see you tomorrow. Bye Anna and say hello to Drake" she giggled on her end.

"Bye" Anna responded with a grin and both girls hung up. "Yes!!!" She squealed excitedly and dialled Drake's number.

"Drake! I got hired!" she yelled when she heard Drake's voice.

"Wow, that's cool" he replied.

"Yes it is. You have Nicole to thank for that".

"Yeah that's right, I'll text her later or I'll see her in school tomorrow".

"Alright. I thought I should let you know. I've got to go now, talk to you later when you're home".

"Okay, be safe" he said and hung up.

After the call, she FaceTime her mom. "Mom guess what?" she exclaimed grinning from ear to ear.

"You know I'm not good at guessing, just tell me".

"I just got hired mom!"

"Wow! So soon?".

"Yes Mom, Drake's friend helped me to secure a job at an ice cream shop. I'll be resuming tomorrow".

"Drake? Who is Drake?".

Anna facepalm herself realizing she hasn't told her mom about Drake yet. "Mom, Drake is my new friend and we attend the same campus. I met him two days ago at a super market when I went to get some groceries for myself".

"Wow, that's really good to know. I'm happy for you my baby".

"Thanks Mom" a huge smile spread on her face".

"I was trying to reach you this morning but it wasn't connecting, you turned off your phone?".

"Yes I did, I didn't want distraction while lectures was going on".

"Okay, but you didn't have to turn it off you know, there can be emergency at times. Next time just put it on vibration".

"Yes Mom. So how are you doing? Are you back from work?".

"Yes, I'm at home alone eating cookies all by myself without you here to join me".

"I miss those yummy cookies of yours, mom. I wish you can send them to me right now" Anna's face suddenly went dim.

"I wish same too. Have you eaten today?".

"Yes, I ate hamburger during break time and when I got back I had cereal".

"You should try eating good food, okay?" her mom suggested and Anna snorted.

"I don't have time to make food like you mom. I'll just stick to the available".

"Anna I'm serious".

"Okay, I've heard you, I will" she smiled. "I've got to go back home now".

"Where are you?".

"I'm in a park not far from the house".

"Okay, you should go home before it gets dark. Make sure you eat something good tonight".

"Like chicken wings?" Anna joked and her mom chuckled.

"If possible" came her reply.

"Yes ma'am. I love you Mom".

"I love you too my sweet baby. Kisses" she blew a kiss and Anna received it and sent hers.

When Anna hung up, she stood up and swirl around still feeling excited over the news of her being hired. She glanced at the time on her phone and it was 7pm. She turnaround and began walking on the silent path that leads to her house. Suddenly she heard a rushing sound and she came to an abrupt stop and glance around.

After glancing around she found nothing and she shrugged and kept going. While behind a tree by the road path, her stalker was watching her, this time around he was holding a small shining dagger on his left hand. He made a step to go after her but he halted and his breathing became heavy as he watched her disappear from his sight.
