Chapter 3

I got woken up by someone jumping on me, I opened my eyes to see that it was Temperence. “Time to get up sleepy head it’s your birthday bitch your finally 18!!!” I covered my head with the blanket, “ Give me another hour please I am still sleepy.” The next thing I knew the blanket was pulled off of me and I was dragged out of bed and onto the floor. “ Really, Temperence you couldn’t let me sleep could you!!” She just gave me a smirk, “ Of course not it’s your birthday and we need to get you all prettied up!!” I just rolled my eyes at her before getting up off the floor, I looked at my desk chair and it seems that Temperence already has a present waiting for me. “Temperence what is this you could have waited till the party to give me this!” She just smiled before walking over to me, “ No this one is for you to open now, the rest of them I already have to your mom!!” So I reached down and opened the box and there sat the most beautiful dress with shoes and a necklace to match, “OMG Temperence this is beautiful it looks like something a princess should wear!!” I reached over and gave her a big hug, “Your welcome no go change so I can do your hair and make-up!!” I didn’t waste no time what so ever before running into the bathroom. I pulled my nightgown over my head and immediately threw it over by my hamper once I got the dress on I put the shoes and necklace on before opening the door. “Mind zipping me up?” Temperence zipped my dress up and I turned around so she could see, her mouth fell open. “ OMG Victoria you look amazing!! The boys will be drooling over you tonight!!” I just rolled my eyes at her she was always trying to get me to get a boyfriend. “ Victoria sit down so we can get your hair and make-up done and we can go eat!!” So I went and sat in the chair while she did my hair and then she did my make-up she always says she doesn’t have to put much on me because I am already so beautiful. Once she was done I turned and looked at myself in the mirror, I actually did look amazing. Once she was done she took a step back and admired her work, “ You really are stunning Victoria!!” I just smiled at her, “ You always know what to say to make me smile!” She just laughed, “ ok let’s get something to eat your mom is cooking and it smells absolutely amazing!” I just chuckled, I grabbed her hand pulling her down the stairs, once I got in the kitchen my parents turned around and the look on there face was absolutely priceless. “Bug you look like a princess so beautiful!!” I just smiled “Thank you daddy!!”

My mother started crying, “Look at my baby all grown up.” I ran over to my mother engulfing her in a hug. “I will always be your little girl mom!” She just smiled at me, that is when my big mouthed best friend had to ruin the moment, “Mrs.Ambers What are you cooking it smells absolutely divine?” My parents both started laughing, “Well Temperence it is Victorias favorite meal I have made it for her every day on her birthday, it is called cabbage cakes only without the cabbage it’s a family recipe so I can’t give away all the secrets.” I got really excited and ran to the table, “Come in Temperence sit down so I can eat please please.” She looked at me like I was out of my mind, while my parents started laughing. They just looked at her, “ You better hurry up before you make her mad!!” She didn’t waste no time running to the table after that statement. Once she sat down my mother walked over with our plates and my father walked over with a bottle of my favorite juice and milk for Temperence. She is weird because she loves her freaking milk! As soon as my food was placed in front of me I wasted no time in scarfing it all down making sure not to get anything on my dress. I finished the plate within minutes and when I looked up they were all staring at me with wide eyes. “ Sorry I was starving!!” They all broke out laughing, my mother was the first one to stop, “ Would you like more?” I just shook my head up and down, my mother went back to the stove loading my plate back up with food before bringing it back to me. This time I ate slowly, once I was finished I took my plate and cup to the sink before sitting back down at the table.

“So what time is the party?” My parents went to speak but before they could Temperence spoke up, “ I set it up from nine to midnight, your parents said it was ok, I figured we could do a bonfire in the back yard.” I looked at my parents, “ It is ok Victoria we have her permission, we will be there so you don’t get to go completely buck wolf but enjoy it.” I jumped up from the table and ran over to my parents engulfing them in a hug, my mother started crying again. “ Mom why are you crying?” Once my father got her to calm down again she looked at me, “ I am sorry I just thought you would be angry with us about everything!” I just looked at the floor, “ I am not mad mom I am just upset you hid it from me, it just gave me a lot of questions that I don’t have the answer to but it doesn’t change the fact that you are my parents that have raised me to be the woman I am today. I will always love you.” This time I made my father cry, I gave him a hug and held him until he stopped crying, “Bug after your party we will help you as much as we can with getting all the answers to your questions we promise.” I just smiled at them, “ I know you will now what are we going to do to pass the time until the party?” They all looked at me before smiling, “what why are you guys smiling?”

Victoria stood up without saying anything she walked to the front room and I could here extra foot step with her. Once she turned the corner there was a very tall man with red hair and bright green eyes with her. I didn’t recognize him immediately, I looked at them all confused but before I could speak the man spoke, “ How you been squirt?” Wait a minute only one person ever has called me that but he moved away I took another look and he doesn’t look like him. “ Dimitri is that you?” He just smiled, I ran over and jumped on him and he embraced me in a big ass hug. “ Where did you go I missed you?” After setting me on the ground he looked at everyone and they nodded. He grabbed my hand taking me outside on the patio, “ I am sorry squirt but I had to move because my mom got really sick and there was only one doctor that could help her!” I just looked at him with complete shock. “Why did you never tell me that!!” He just looked down at the ground, “Because you would have tried protecting me and my mom instead of me being the protector. It is just who you are!!” That made me feel guilty, “ I would have only tried being there for you and you know that, but you left without even a goodbye.” My eyes started tearing up, he wiped away the tears, “This is why I couldn’t say goodbye I didn’t wanna see you cry!!”

He shocked me with that one statement, he quickly removed his hand from my face, “ I am sorry Victoria!!” I just wrapped my arms around his waist, “ It is ok Dimitri I understand! Are you staying for the party?” I waited a moment trying not to get hopeful, “Squirt, I am sorry but I can’t stay long I just wanted to swing by before I left town. I have to head back to my mom as she can’t be left alone for long periods of time right now!” I went to ask him why but he just shook his head, So we just sat down on the chairs and caught up. Time seemed to fly because the next thing I know his alarm was going off, he looked down at his watch and jumped up. “Shit I am gunna miss my flight!!” He pulled me into a hug, kissing the top of my head, “I have to go squirt but I will come back soon for a visit ok!” With that statement he ran back to his car and drove off. I don’t know why this upset me so much but it did, I went inside and looked at the clock it was ten till eight. Temperence came into the kitchen, “How did the visit go?” O just looked at the ground and as if she knew what I was feeling without my saying anything she wrapped me in a hug. “ I am sorry Vic but he promised he would come see you again didn’t he!!” I just shook my head, that is when the doorbell rang, Temperence started jumping up and down. “ The guest have arrived let’s go meet them!!” I opened the door and it looked like the entire school was there. Temperence told them to go around back and we would meet them there. I hollered for my parents, “ They are here, am I ordering food or am I cooking?” My father came running from the kitchen, “We’re already on it go ahead and go outside you two!” So we did, when I got outside we started the bonfire for my dad and then went to go see Sam and Adele. When we go there they each have me a hug, “Happy birthday kid your officially a woman!!” I just rolled my eyes at him, “ Shit it Sam your more of a kid than I am!!” Victoria and Adele started laughing and Sam placed his hand over his heart like I hurt him. Soon I lost track of time only to realize my parents started bringing out mountains of food.

I ran over to my dad, “ Dad what time is it?” He looked down at his watch, “Ten till midnight bug didn’t you notice the moon is start to shine brightly!” I hadn’t noticed that before, “Everyone come eat!!” My mother yelled, once she did that everyone bombarded the table, but I suddenly started feeling funny so I walked away from the table. Temperence noticed it and walked over to me, “ You ok Vic?” I just looked at her, “No my back is fucking killing me all of a sudden!” She looked concerned, “Let me go get your parents stay here!” I didn’t plan on moving because it hurt to much, my parents came running over, “ Victoria are you ok what happen?” I just looked at them I went to speak but another wave of pain hit me and sent me crashing to the ground. I started convulsing and it felt like every bone in my body was breaking! I looked at my mother with pleading eyes but she was looking at me like she was scared. I couldn’t figure out why I went to speak but couldn’t because another wave of pain hit me. The next thing I knew I was fading into a darkness that seemed like it might swallow me whole.
