Fighting For Her Life

When the car finally ground to a crumpled halt upside down in the narrow ditch, Emerald found herself hanging suspended by her seatbelt, weightless but pinned in place.

Sharp pains lanced through her body and there was a metallic tang of blood in her mouth as she coughed and gasped, struggling to breathe.

“Saint! Saint!” She called the driver.

“Are you okay, Ma’am?” She heard him answer.

At this time, she was glad that her driver was a werewolf. But before he could tear himself out of the car to help her, a large metal tore through the window and impaled him.

Emerald let out a scream at this.

She was not stupid. It came out of nowhere. Someone must have thrown it.

Fear settled in her heart, but adrenaline coursed through her veins.

She had to get out.

With trembling fingers, she fumbled for the seat belt release, finally tumbling heavily to the ground in a heap.

Her head swam dizzily, but her body was moving on autopilot.
