Chapter Forty-Nine: The Truth

RUBY is struggling to resist her feelings for Adam as she watches him talk on the phone. She believes he's on the line with the Japanese investor and suspects the investor might have pulled out his shares, possibly because of her. Instead of engaging in a long conversation with him, she decides to just close her eyes.

"I should sleep. Because I know that if our conversation goes on for too long, my heart might soften towards Adam again."

After saying that to herself, she falls asleep. When she wakes up, she sees Danrick in front of her. She initially thought it was just a dream. But when her friend speaks and hugs her tightly, she realizes that everything is real. She sobs on his shoulder. "I miss you so much, babe. I thought you wouldn't come.
