Chapter 50: Zayden's Worries

Olivia didn't sleep at all that night; she was pensive, thinking about her fate, which seemed to have no purpose.

"No one expected me; the only person who expected me was Grandpa, but now even Grandpa has left me alone," she murmured, hugging her knees to her body on the bed. 

Hearing Holand's explanation, her heart ached. It turned out that even in the womb, she had not been expected. Why was life so cruel that she felt it was unfair? No one wanted to be born a girl or a boy, but they considered girls useless and worth killing.

"Why?" she mumbled, crying there in pain.

Outside Olivia's door, Ivy stood up. She was about to knock on the woman's door to ask if Olivia needed anything. But her movement stopped in mid-air when she heard a sob coming from inside the room. Ivy was still standing in front of the door, feeling uneasy. Finally, she decided against going to see Olivia and chose to stay away from the room.
