Chapter 10: Offer

As Amy stepped out of their house, she couldn’t shake off the unease at what she had seen. “Where is he?” she whispered to herself, the anxiety clear in her voice. Deep down in her heart, she knew that the person she had seen was none other than her father.

Upon re-entering the house, she sat on the sofa, continuously thinking about the scene. Amy couldn’t help but tear up as she considered the possibilities. At that moment, Zack arrived and found her crying.

“Hey, what happened?” Zack asked, concern etched on his face. He sat next to Amy and gently held her hand, as if trying to comfort her. “I-I saw him,” Amy stammered, then slowly recounted everything she had seen.

Zack listened quietly, giving his full attention to Amy as she narrated. When he noticed that Amy had fallen asleep on his shoulder, he carefully lifted her and took her to the bedroom so she could rest.
