A NIGHT WITH XANDER

Chapter 4

From the open curtains pulled to the side, the sharp rays from the morning sun landed up on the figure on the bed.

Birds chirped by the window side and the scent of hibiscus flower filled the room.

Groggily, long lashes fluttered open to come in contact with the white ceiling above her and seating erect, her head throbbed badly in Extreme pain as though she had been hammered on the head.

The warm blanket that covered her legs was casted to the side, feet dropped down to meet the solid floor and pulling herself up, a sharp pain from her lower region bustled through her making her wince.

Quickly, she fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Her head raised up, her eyes meeting the image casted on the silvery surface of the mirror that hung on the wall and in that instant, a loud gasp left her lips for up on the mirror was a reflection of herself.

She looked battered and messy.

Hairs scattered all over and bite marks were seen on her body, to top it all, she was naked!!!

A pale look outlined her facials and body panicked in Extreme fear, her eyes turned to take a look around to come to the realization that she wasn't in her room but in one unfamiliar to her.

How did she end up here?

Just as she tried to call the incidents that landed her in this situation, her head throbbed Even more but regardless she urged herself to recall the entire ordeal.

It was then it came back to her although in fragments but she was able to remember what had happened.

From the time of her visiting the hospital to find Josh cheating on her to the time she ended up drunk and finally to the time she had...

She had kissed a stranger!

Her breathing became erratic and her eyes glanced at the floor where her clothes had been torn to shreds and scattered all over the floor.

Her naked state, her torn clothes and the bite marks up her skin made her body tremble with the realization he had taken advantage of her.

Just as tears hung on her eyes, she heard the sounds of water rushing from her right where the bathroom was situated and without being told, she knew she wasn't alone in the room.

Perhaps it was the stranger from that night.

Anger washed over her and all she wanted to do was go over there and hit him in the face.

He shouldn't have touched her in her state but just as her feet took a step forward, she froze.

Then a thought hit her.

What if he was dangerous?

What if in the process of venting out her anger, he probably gets irritated and kills her.

The thought shook her body and snapping out of it, her eyes glanced round the room to see a set of clothes that was probably her size.

Not a second being wasted, she took the clothes and wearing it, she quickly turned making her way to the door and pulling it open, her eyes widened at the figure before her.

It was the stranger from last night.

He stood casually by the door, his hands placed in his pocket and with a tilt of his head, he spoke up.

"Where do you think you are going?" He asked but Evelyn could only shake in fear.

She had thought he was in the bathroom.

If he was here then who was in the bathroom?

She had assumed he was in the bathroom making her want to quickly leave without seeing him but here he was in front of her.

But who was now in there?

Just as she was thinking about this, the door to the bathroom was pulled open,a female in a blue uniform stepped out.

"The bath is ready sir" she informed.

"Leave" he demanded for her to nod her head doing as told.

When she was out of sight, Xander's gaze which had been on Evelyn became intense and stepping into the room, he watched as she stepped back.

Fear evident in those clear eyes of hers.

His advances towards Evelyn made her heart skip a beat and instinctively, she began to move back in a slow pace, her eyes not leaving the figure in front of her till she reached the edge of the bed where her body  fell over.

Before she could sit erect, his body trapped her in between his sturdy chest and the bed making her breathing turn heavy.

"Mute now?" His voice although soothing only made her body tremble lightly.

"I'm going home" she said masking her emotions up trying to put up a bold font.

"In such a hurry" 

"You took advantage of me in my state. You raped me!" She accused yelling as well glaring at him for him to chuckle at her words.

"Rape? I don't think so. Did you forget you came on to me when you kissed me? Or the fact that you couldn't help but moan calling me all kinds of names in our love making?" He asked for her eyes to widen.

She did that?

Now she was left speechless with just his words, she really couldn't recall how it all happened but she couldn't believe she did all that.

"I want to leave"

"Stay" it wasn't just a statement. It was a demand as the cunning smile on his lips vanished making him look extremely terrifying under the rays from the sun which hit his face.

From his perfectly carved eyebrows to his well defined chin his facials was extremely handsome as well dangerous.

Just then the phone rang out from the bedside resulting in him leaving her side to pick up the call.

Seeing him so engrossed in the call, she quickly left his side running out the door without daring to look back.

It was a one time thing.

A big mistake that shouldn't have happened.

The loud bang attracted his attention and turning his gaze to the bed, he saw that she had left.

His gaze darkened at this but still a light smile spread across his lips.

His body guard stationed outside stepped in.

"She left boss. Do you want me to go after her?"

"No need. Find all the information you can about her" he said, his lips curling up in a satisfactory smile.

Finally, he has find his cure

How could he let her leave?

Evelyn who rushed out the room in a hurry boarded a taxi to the apartment She shared with Olivia.

Although Aurora pin pointed there was no need to move out of her parents house, Evelyn couldn't help but feel she was a burden and in order to get rid of such thinking, she rented an apartment with Olivia her work mate.

Olivia was just about to step out when she saw Evelyn looking Haggard in her state, a sudden panic rose in her.

"What happened to you?" She asked, she was in shock with the way she walked. Obviously something happened.

She had just stepped in and right before she could have her seat, Aurora badged in looking worried.

Last night she had been Calling Olivia seeking news of if she had returned but each time there was no good news, she felt helpless.

"Jeez, what happened?" She was shocked as well.

Steadily, Evelyn went to the couch taking her seat, a heavy sigh leaving her lips.

"Evelyn, d... Did he rape you?" She asked tears stinging in her eyes at the thought.

Evelyn saw this and let out a sigh.

She knew how soft hearted Aurora was and she didn't want to hurt her.

"It's nothing. I'm fine" she simply said.

Yes, she was hurt by the way she lost her virginity but she couldn't help but blame herself for causing it upon herself.

If only she hadn't listened to Amelia.

Fuck them!

"Wait, what are you guys talking about?" This time it was Olivia who asked not quite grabbing the gist from their conversation but after explaining everything to her, she was able to follow up, her expression stunned.

"Are you sure he didn't touch you against your will? If he did let's go, we will report him to the police" Olivia said creating more reason for Aurora to panic.

"That's enough I'm fine. I'm tired and I want to rest" she said.

"Are you sure about that?" Questioned Olivia for her to nod planting a smile on her lips.

"I am. Trust me okay?" 

It took a while for them to believe her but after they did, they left her to rest.

Through out that day, Evelyn didn't leave for work and instead stayed at home to rest.

She prepared a light food before she slept off again, her mind trying to erase all the memories from last night

Eagerly the next morning, Evelyn was awoken by the alarm on her phone and shortly after it rang, she received a call from an unknown number making her wonder who it was.

At first she was hesitant to answer but on pressing on the reply button, the excited tone of Tina came through from the other end.

Just hearing her voice brought smiles to Evelyn's lips.

Apparently, Tina had called through a nurse's number from the hospital.

At the end of the conversation, Evelyn had promised to come by the hospital when she was less busy.

Glancing at the time on her clock, she headed straight for the showers where she took her bath and stepping out, she glanced at the mirror when she was all done only to feel a quiver go down her spine.

Just to avoid unnecessary stories that touches the heart, she had take measures to ensure she didn't get pregnant.

It's been a week since the incident that took her virginity away and anytime she took a look in the mirror, she was reminded of her battered self with bite marks on her skin.

With a sigh leaving her lips, she left for work and this time, she was right on time.

The main reason she worked here was because she needed the money to surprise Josh with a gift but now she was working for herself.

Thinking about how she would imagine Josh's face when she gifted him the watch and how happy she imagined him to be, she felt ridiculou

The day's work was really stress free as not much customer was present.

She seemed to find peace until when the door to the restaurant pulled open and in came a man who took a seat at the table.

"Evelyn, table number 5" shouted her colleague for her to step out and taking up the order, she went out to serve the customer.

But just as she walked up to him, the smile on her face instantly froze on seeing Josh.

It's been a week since the incident and even when he texted and called her, she simply just ignored him.

Dropping his order to the table, she quickly spun around not sparing him even a glance and walking away only to be stopped when he held her hand.

"Evelyn stop" he called out to her but in disgust, she yanked her hand from his.

"Don't touch me" she said with a frown up her forehead.

"There's your order enjoy"

She said attempting to walk away once more when he walked in front of her halting her movement.

"Let's talk will you?"

"Talk about what?

How you slept with my best friend for three good years"

"I'm really sorry for what happened that day. I know you must be angry but believe me when I said it's the devil's work. I promise I won't have anything to do with Amelia ever again please just forget about it.

Forget it ever happened" he pleaded for her to scoff breaking into a hysterical laughter.

"The devil's work? So it was the devil's work for three good years! You are unbelievable"

"Let's put that all behind us. I know you don't have a boyfriend and I know you did what you did out of spite.

I hadn't shown up in front of you so you could calm down and think"

"Well I'm calm but my decision still remains the same.

Goodbye Josh" she said walking past him.

Just as she walked away, the sounds of plates crashing to the ground was heard making her spun her head in its direction.

There she found Josh bowling in anger, the broken pieces of plate scattered to the floor beside him.

"Who do you think you are to break up with me?

You are no one Evelyn.

I'm the one who gets to decide if you should leave or not"

From pleading to yelling at her?

She wondered why she never got the chance to see this side of him probably because she was deeply in love with him.

"It Should be but it isn't" she said turning to him.

"If you break up with me, I'll show your lovely aunt and uncle how disgraceful you have become.

Amelia recorded the scenes from last night.

They will see you as a disgrace" he threatened her but she was unfazed and seeing this, he went on.

"Get lost Josh" she said not caring about him or his words.

"Fine then, do you want them to suffer? 

Break up with me and I'll pull out my shares from your uncle's company and see how well he will survive without me" 

This part ticked her off, her steps coming to a sudden halt.

Yes, Josh and his parents were the biggest shareholders of her uncle's company, washing their hands off the business meant that it will fall to total doom.

Annoyed she stepped forward taking the half glass of water in her tray and spraying it on him.

His entire outfit was drenched in cold water, his teeth gritted at this.

"You are disgusting. I regret ever meeting you" 

She said for Josh to smirk..

His entire being was drenched but he wasn't a bit bothered by it, instead he was glad his words got to her.

He knew how much she cared about her uncle.

He knew she was indebted to him and so he was using it against her.

"So choose Evelyn.

Do you want them to loose everything or stay with me?"

Evelyn was at loss, she never got to know this side of him.

He threatened her so easily and he insulted her so casually.

It hurts that she was just figuring out who he truly was.

Tears clouded her vision as she stared at him.

Where exactly was the man she once loved?

The man who had embraced her muttering sweet nonsense to her ear.

Her throat ached her and her eyes stung with tears as she seemed trapped by his words.

Josh seeing the look on her face smiled, his frown completely disappearing knowing his words worked on her and stepping closer to her with his hands on her fair cheeks, he wiped off the tears bringing his face to hers, their lips only inches away from her.

"You see Evelyn, no matter what I own you"

He said, his words possessive and domineering.

After her encounter with Josh Evelyn returned home, the police car right outside her apartment caught her attention. 

Stepping forward with curiosity piquing her interest, her gaze landed on the cop that turned to her, his hand on is belt.

“Are you Ms. Evelyn?” he asked to see her nod.

“This is she” she answered and immediately, she watched him bring out a handcuff to seize her hands. The shock and confusion that aligned her face intensified when she heard him speak.

“Ms. Evelyn, you are under arrest for embezzlement of funds”
