Chapter 32: The Pawn

ARTEMI'S POV

I watched as Aiden dragged Artemis away, her eyes blazing with defiance. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. Was I really willing to go this far?

"Aiden, are you sure this is necessary?" I asked, my voice low.

Aiden turned to me, his eyes cold. "She's a liability, Kane. We can't let her expose us."

I nodded, but my mind raced with doubts. Was our ambition worth sacrificing our humanity?

"Please, Kane," she begged. "Don't do this."

I turned away, my heart heavy. "It's too late, Artemis. You're in too deep."
