GILBERT KING

When Hade walked in, I knew the warriors must be back from the human territory.

"Sir, I..."

I raised my hand, shutting him up. "What is the news?"

"We were able to..."

I turned and glared at him. "What is the news!!"

"We got them. I mean the girls"

I sighed and stood up, walking closer to him. I walked past him and held him by his neck, pressing him down. He groaned but stood firmly.

"How many times have I warned you to always go straight to the point when you want to speak to me? How many times have I warned you not to answer me with more than three words?"

I dipped my claws into his neck and he groaned.

"Gilbert?" my mom called and I turned. "What are you doing?". She walked closer to me. "Gilbert, get your hands off his neck" she yapped at me.

I pulled my claws out of his neck, and he fell to the ground. "Leave!" I ordered and he ran out of the room. "Why are you here?"I asked, staring at my hand filled with blood. I picked up a towel. "You did not tell me you were coming"

"Why did you almost kill him?"

"You have not told me why you are here"

"Then answer my question. Why did you almost kill him? He has been one of your most trusted guards for a..."

"He was guilty" I replied nonchalantly.

"Guilty of what? Guilty of speaking more than three words to you? Or guilty of not being straightforward with you?"

I groaned slightly and sat down. "Can you tell me why you are here?"

"Why have you not killed me yet? Do I not speak more than three words to you?"

I groaned. "You are my mother. Why would I attempt to kill you?"

She frowned. "Should you not consider..."

I groaned. "Mom! Can we talk about something else? Can we talk about why you are here?"

She sighed and sat down on the couch. "It's about your mate"

I waved my hand. "We are not talking about that"

"We have to talk about that. Gilbert, you are..."

I stood up from the bed. "I need to go now"

"Gilbert!" my mom called after me as I walked out of the room.

I ignored her and gestured to Hade waiting outside. He ran to me and bowed.

"Take me to where the captives are and go get yourself treated" I pointed at the wounds on his neck.

"Yes, sir" he muttered leading the way.

A few guards joined us on our way to the hall.

"The Alpha is here" Hade announced.

"Leave and get yourself treated" I muttered. "Make sure you get back before I leave this place," I told him and walked into the hall.

The guards bowed their heads as I walked past them. I stood promptly when I felt an unusual feeling. I stared at the young girl in front of me. I could feel my wolf jumping up happily and I frowned.

She is not my mate, right?

She looked up, staring at me. Our eyes got locked up for a while and I couldn't hide my surprise. I moved back a bit and punched the closet wall to me. I could hear the children yelling in fright but I wasn't bothered about it. I brushed my hair backward and groaned.

S-she is my mate!

A weak human like her is my mate. Not only is she a weak human. She is also a young girl and a captive. I punched the wall again and they flinched.

I stared at my injured hand and smiled. I pointed at her. "Lock her up in the cell with no food and water, until I say so"

She stared at me in shock. "W-what have I done wrong? W-what did I do?"

A guard dragged her up but another girl held his hand. "Leave my friend alone. Leave..."

The guard pushed the other girl backward and my suppose mate lunged at him. I was caught by surprise. Seeing how fearless and fierce she was, I could not help but wonder if she is stronger than I thought. I clicked my fingers together and two guards rushed to hold her. She kept dragging with them for a while before they were able to pin her down.

I moved closer to her. "What was that for?"

I had expected her to give me a reply but instead, she stared at me in fear. I furrowed my brows.

Where did all her courage go to?

She went down on her knees immediately clasping her plans together. "Please don't hurt my friend. You can do whatever you want to do to me but please spare my friend"

I stared at the friend who was already shaking.

I moved closer to her and bend down. I raised her head. "I can do anything I want to do to you for as long as I keep your friend save?". She nodded and I clutched her chin together. She whined in pain. "Do you want me to spare your friend?" She nodded again and I groaned.

Why did the moon goddess give me a mate like her after waiting for so long for a mate? I wondered. Am I being punished for some reason?

I released my grip on her and stood up. Staring at her friend, I noticed she was bleeding from her leg. Her friend must have noticed too because she placed her hand over it, ignoring the awkward atmosphere. I could not help but admire her kind out.

Why does she have to be a weak human? And why does she seem to have a double personality?

"What is your name?" I asked her friend.

"A-Alaila" she replied.

"And your friend's name?"

"Xavia"

I nodded. "You seem to hurt. When did you get hurt?"

"When I was trying to run..."

I stared at her. "When she was trying to run after me"

I had not expected her to pick up the courage to speak to me. I also did not expect that I some get angry at her for answering me with more than three words.

"Did you finally get your tongue back?" I found myself saying.

I stood up and gestured to one of the guards. "Take her to meet the nurse. She should be well taken care of. As for her, keep her in the room close to mine and feed her. Her friend can join her later on. Dispatch the rest of the girls to their appropriate places"

"Ok, Alpha"

I turned to leave but stopped. I turned. "And one more thing. Do not rough handle her". I said and pointed at Xavia before walking out of the hall.

Hade met me outside. "The elders' meeting"

I walked past him and he ran after me. "What time?"

"An hour less"

I sighed. I have a few minutes to get myself cooled off from this shock, before going into the meeting.

**

I had just finished my meeting with the elders and I wanted to head to my room but on second thought, I changed my mind. I was sure my mom had not left yet. I went into the training room and sat down.

"Get me my sword," I told Hade who rushed quickly to get it.

I rested on the couch, my eyes closed. My mind drifted back to the young girl. Thinking about her made me feel frustrated. I could not imagine having such a weak human as a mate.

I have waited for too long. Why do I get a mate like her?

I stood up from the couch and picked up the sword Hade had kept. I began to sway my sword trying to get my mind off her. After doing that for a while, I dropped the sword and picked up a bottle of water. I drank some water and then dropped the bottle before picking up a towel.

"Your mom," Hade said and I groaned.

"Don't tell me she is here"

"She is outside"

I dropped the towel and went out. "What are you doing here, mother"

"I knew you are going to be here" she answered. "You do not want to talk about your mate right?"

I groaned. "There is nothing to talk about" I replied, brushing my hair.

She beamed. "Did you find her?"

I blinked. "Find who?"

"Your mate"

"No?"

She smiled. "It seems you have. Tell me what does she look like? Is she beautiful? What pack does she belong to? What does she..."

I groaned. "I haven't met her yet. You should stop asking all these questions"

She stared at me and I sighed. There is no way I will tell her my mate is a young weak human that was captured.

"Are you sure about this?"

I nodded. "I am very sure"

"Then why do you look uneasy?". I furrowed my brows. What does she mean? "You always look this way when you are lying"

I groaned slightly. "You think I am lying?"

She nodded and moved closer to me. "So tell me. Who is she?"

"I don't know what you are talking about, mom. I haven't met my mate yet"

She shrugged. "Then will you listen to what I have to say?"

"About what?"

"Your mate"

I groaned. "There is nothing to talk about her"

"There is a lot to talk about. Maybe you have been searching for her in the wrong way. How about we find another way?"

I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Mom, can we talk about this another time? I need to take my bath and get some sleep"

"We have to talk about it now or I find you a random girl to marry. How am I sure you are not being punished for your cruel act"

I blinked. "Are you saying I am cursed?"

"I never said that but it seems you are receiving punishment for being cold-hearted. Find your mate before the next full moon or I give you one. I am not getting any younger. I want to see my grandchildren before I die. Do as I have told you or you push me to do mine. I am not joking" she said, before leaving.

I blinked a bit, before groaning slightly. It doesn't look like my mom is giving me an empty threat.

I must do something about that little girl. It won't take long before my mom will find out she is my mate.

"Hade, when are the other Alphas coming to visit?"

"In a week"

I groaned. A week will be too much for my mom to find out about her. I need to find a way of getting rid of her.

"How about you kill her?" my subconscious mind said and I groaned.

She is too innocent. I can't kill her because I do not desire her. She has not done anything to me aside from being my weak mate and it wasn't her fault that the moon goddess decided to punish me by choosing her as my mate.

"I can't believe you are here. I have been looking for you everywhere" Arden said walking closer to me.

He is the only friend I have been able to keep. Despite my cold aura, he isn't scared of me and no matter how many times I tell him not to speak more than three words to me, he wouldn't budge.

"And how did you find out that I am here?"

"I saw your mom"

I sighed. "What is going on? Why are you looking for me?"

"You won't believe what I heard"

I furrowed my brows. "What?"

"The Lycan King is visiting the Ice pack tomorrow"

I blinked. "The same Lycan King? I mean the young Lycan King?". He nodded and I smiled. That is good news for me. Arden furrowed his brows. "You look so happy". I smiled, nodding my head. "Are you not curious to know why he is coming? "

I shrugged. This might be a blessing in disguise.

**

I have only heard about the Lycan King but have never met with him before. My dad who had visited the Lycan pack so many times before he died told me about the young Lycan prince who is cold-hearted and brutal. After his father's death, he became the Lycan King. And rumor had it that he killed his father to become the King. No one knows what he looks like either because he was said to always remain in his room but is said to have some clouts.

"The Lycan King is here" Arden announced and I nodded.

"Where is he?"

"The room beside yours"

I furrowed my brows. "The room beside mine?"

He nodded and I rushed outside. I walked into the room and saw two men standing beside Xavia and Alaila. One of them was in his late twenties and the other seems to be in his early twenties.

"He wants her," the older man said, pointing at Xavia. "And her too" he pointed at Alaila. "He doesn't want them as gifts. He will be paying for them," he said and I blinked.

** For as long as we stayed out of trouble, we were allowed to work with the maids in the kitchen. We did the sweeping and mopping of the floor while the maids do the washing of the dishes and also cleaned every other thing in the kitchen. Helen was the one who do the cooking with little or no help from others. She made so little food I wondered if the rest in the packhouse cook their meals themselves. I soon find out from one of the maids that she cooks for the Alpha and she has been the only one doing that. Alora her second in command, makes the food for the rest of the packhouse members including the Alpha's mom and the Beta's family. I became curious to know why no one else can cook for the Alpha and decided to ask her, though I doubted if she will tell me why."Helen, why are you the only one cooking for the Alpha?" I asked with little hope."He is very sensitive," she answered and I furrowed my brows."Sensitive about what?"She dropped the plate in her hand and turned to face

I watched them sing a happy birthday song for me and I tried not to break down in tears. It was getting too much for me to bear. Just watching them sing for me with happiness, made me tear up."It's ok" Alaila patted my shoulder with a smile on her face."Thank you, very much, every one of you. AXEL I groaned slightly, my body hurting so badly. I could feel my bones cracking and I couldn't help but howl in pain. It was my transformation period, which for an average wolf, is too late. Also for an average Lycan, it is a year or two too late. I was twenty and I am yet to completely change into a Lycan wolf and someone who sees me for the first time and doesn't know anything about wolves or Lycans will take me as a monster.I was born special which made my transformation slower than others. Also, being from the Alpha's Lineage had added to it. Every full moon, I go through a painful transformation and I have never looked forward to another full moon.I whined a bit when the pain subsided. The room was quiet and dark but I could see through my Lycan eyes. Jason had gone to the packhouse to get a blanket. I noticed a rabbit had entered the room. At first, I ignored it but the hunting instinct in me made me dash towards it. I caught it and deep my claws into it, pulling it apart i
