'I'm so proud of you' Eliz sang in my head as we settle down on the grass. 'Me too girl, I'm proud that you're my wolf' I replied and smile through our links

We had to run into the woods after getting out of that awful and stupid meeting, leaving my poor wedges behind. I cut off my mind links with everyone in our pack. I do not care about anyone's opinion anymore.

Eliz and I just need to be alone, so here we are close to the borders watching the sunset before heading back to the packhouse.

When we arrive back at the packhouse we saw that all the cars had gone except for two posh vehicles still parked in front of the packhouse.

Aberdeen hugs me tightly when she saw me coming. She was sitting on the doorstep waiting for me. I thank the moon goddess for giving me such a wonderful friend who never judges me but only gives me support, unlike some best friends I grew up with.

"Hey, where did you go?" she asks still hugging me.

"Just to clear my head" I reply.

I physically feel numb from accepting Eric's rejection but on the bright side on an emotional level, I feel good as well. I don't know what happened or how Eric is feeling after the acceptance of his stupidity. It's not like I care because I don't. Eric already set a boundary between us and I made it clear that it's over. This mate thing is out of my life. I am happy but Eliz is not okay at all.To meditate on the past three days, oh moon goddess tells me all about it again. So many things did happen. Like first on the list, it was me disrespecting other packs of Lunas. Oh, my two sweet enemies who want nothing more than for my head to be on a platter and to be presented in front of them?Second, it was me disrespecting Eric and Aaron. Third, don't forget me to help look for Jea and me moving away from Alcader, and then I have to live with Alpha Aaron Reed. I sometimes wonder what it's like to live with Claire's ex-mate?Lastly, the Alpha's telling me that I'm on the hit list of the

The tears that were overflowing from my eyes a while ago stopped. However, I audibly try to catch my breath. My eyes dart around pulling away from his touch. I didn't understand his words and the way he caress and wipe off my tears. I don't remember meeting him like this but the only time I know he sees me like this was when they left me to die in the hands of the hunters.'Where are we?' I ask Eliz who just woke up and open our link. 'I don't know you tell me,' she said in a sleepy tone then suddenly she screams in alarm through our link. 'Where the hell are we? What did you do with our body?' I look around taking in our surroundings again. I gasp when I am fully aware of my surroundings. Instead of the bedroom, I am actually in the woods. I started to panic and look down at my body. I quickly cover myself with my hands as I am only wearing a flimsy nightgown.I look up at him and then around me. My thoughts keep jumbling. What the hell was I doing out here in the woods? Yet worst

  • A Mate For The Latecomer   Chapter 20: Just a Nightmare

"Freedom!" was one word inside my head ever since the Moonbridge Beta told me that Alpha Reed is out for a week. I excitedly unpack my stuff before heading downstairs. I swear I hate taking steps, especially when it's a three-story packhouse. When I made it to the foyer there was no sight of anyone around so I walk a little bit to the other side and collide with the Beta. "Ouch" I wince complaining to Eliz 'seriously was he the only one in this house.' "Where are you going?" he asks snapping me out of my link with Eliz. "Umm to have a look around," I answer nervously. "I'm sorry Ms' Langford but Alpha's orders. We are not to allow you to go outside," he strictly told me. My brain froze and my jaw drop open. 'Wait a minute!' I try to function my brain and see if he is joking with me. "I'm sorry when you carried my bag, did you see a sticker that says, prisoner"?" he shook his head no. "No, but still you cannot go out," he said not even caring about how I would take his respons

"This is so good," I moan while taking another fork of omelet into my mouth.'Girl can you like take it slow' Eliz groans in my head. 'Seriously if any of the boys pass by and you're still eating like that I will personally request the moon goddess to find me another human,' she threatens me but I ignore her.'I thought you were dead but since I'm hearing your voice I guess you're not' I retort and she doesn't reply which made me smile to myself.Since the Alpha made me go to bed without dinner I woke up early to get ready and make breakfast for myself. Of course, that was after roaming around the foyer for an hour looking for this damn kitchen.'Can you seriously stop now?' said Eliz. Ignoring her I take another mouthful of omelet. "Hmm yum," I tease her. Gosh, teasing her is fun.'Okay not funny anymore Elle. Stop now! I think I'm hearing footsteps' she says. However, I take another one and ignore her. "So yummy," I giggle and turn around to fetch milk from the fridge my mouth still

"We're doomed!" Aaron mumble as he leans forward on his office desk with his hands on both sides holding himself up. Great' I thought and I glance at Eric who is watching outside the window. I could see him frown and he was a little bit angry. I drag my gaze to see the other three sitting there in their seat like statues. Okay, am I going to be in trouble? I ask myself and gulp my saliva nervously. 'Say something,' urges Eliz through our link but I block her out again as I can't focus and don't know how to ease the tension in the room. 'What am I supposed to do? Okay, let me try' I thought and parted my lips to speak."We last saw each other near the Blood Moon pack," I slowly told them the truth and regretted it the moment I hear groans and cussing from the three statues in the room. Aaron frowned at me which made me heave my shoulder and ignore him. "And that was four years ago," Eric replied without looking my way."True, but you're not getting my point here," I interject and all

  • A Mate For The Latecomer   Chapter 24: Alpha Zeus

"Alpha Zeus." Eric shifted and greeted him followed by Aaron. Eliz giggles and fans herself with her paws before we turn to the other side. My eyes hurt and I regret looking at something I am not supposed to see. Something that I avoid seeing between Zeus's legs. 'Ahhhh our poor innocent eyes' I pouted and Eliz laughs in my face. I turn away shutting our eyes. These men thought that my wolf and I must have seen tons of their private parts but the truth is this is the first time we saw the male glory that people talk about. Great! Just Great! I open my eyes again to see if they're still naked and thank the moon goddess some of them are already cover-up. Taking a look around us, we saw one of the pack members handing out clothes. I moved toward her to fetch some clothes. She smiles when saw us. "Hello, sorry you had to see so many naked men around," she said, handing me a pair of shorts and a black t-shirt. "Thank you," I howl in an appreciative tone which made her smile even more.

Two days passed since the unwelcome feeling by Eric and Zeus. Despite not wanting to be around them, unfortunately, I have to and we have been doing the same thing over and over again. We have been digging into information about the hunters and rogues. However, everything seems to be on loose ends. We came with nothing at all. Most of the time I felt like there was no use for me to be there. They may have wanted me to help find Jea but I can't help but think that Jea may not be the reason why I'm here with them.Called it intuition but those feelings are never wrong and I cannot wait for the day the truth came out. This whole thing is making me anxious every day.The opening of the poster by Zeus in front of Eric and Aaron snaps me out of my crazy thoughts. "So they are handing out a reward for those who have info on the werewolves that killed their men. We need to be careful as there will be traitors in here and out there," he warns them before passing the poster around to Lucian, Con

I put a hand to my beating heart while Eliz continues to laugh at me for being too sure with the boys. I ignore her laughter and made my way to the front door of the house. I know Aaron forbids me not to go anywhere without his approval but he is not my Alpha and, I want to take a walk. I almost made it to the door when I collided with an elderly woman. She struggled to balance herself making her fall down. I quickly apologize and help her up. "I am sorry madam." "It's alright dear," she said as tried to reach for the basket on the floor that is filled with a white cloth. "Let me," I said and reached out for it instead. "Wow, it's kind of heavy" I mutter and lift it with my hands. The old madam stretches her back before she politely asks me to hand it over."I can help carry it for you" I suggested because not only did I feel bad for her but she reminded me of my late grandparents. I wasn't joking when I said the basket is heavy."Who are you?" she curiously asks me."Just an unwant

  • A Mate For The Latecomer   Epilogue

After 3 decades the moon goddess finally granted Eric's last dying wish. She has been watching his soul day by day as he works to mend for his own mistakes and sins in her hidden dimensions where only she can see through. She was satisfied with the way he has taken things and how remorseful he was with everything that has been happening. On a red full moon, for the first time in the history of werewolves, the sky pierced and four souls were reborn again, with the same features in the same world. The moon goddess has frozen the time and has taken everything back to where it was. It was as if she was playing a video where you keep hitting the replay button. She smiles watching those souls who are reborn again into her creation. It was Eric’s wish and yearning after his death that brought them back, this she watched hoping fate wouldn’t repeat like the last time. Those souls were Eric, Claire, Aaron and Elle. The moon goddess tried to change each fate, for them to be ha

We have been running in the woods, Eliz felt it refreshing since we haven't shifted when we were in the humans’ realm. We cross our border and made it to another territory probably Eric's. Then we continue to walk before we reach his. Aaron wants us to talk to the place where we first met.The first question I ask him as we walk was "How's everyone doing?" and he told me that they were all okay. Conrad has found his mate and Jay has moved with his mate since she's a Beta's daughter of another pack. So Zeus’s pack is now combined with his and now he's the Alpha. We talk about other random stuff about how my life in the human realm was and how I had to cope with everything until we reach that spot again. I pick up from our conversation that he never mentioned anything about Claire so I decided to ask him. I was thinking maybe he didn't want to since it could make things awkward."How's everything with Claire?"Aaron stopped this time and he turn

How did I even get there? Well, Jea says wolves can still cross the barrier without harm and I used a car to travel through the distance. I called back to apologise to Aberdeen and told her that I need to rethink everything including what I want to do with my life.So going to the human realms was the best thing that ever happened to me. I met so many wonderful people and was able to live a life of a human being. They changed my perspective and even made me fall in love with kids and I wished to adopt one someday. • A Mate For The Latecomer   Chapter 39: It's Done Its Over

Eric was wrong when he said that I could love freely and move on from the past. A part of me was still stuck there not moping in losing or never having a Mate but for the fact that life wasn't fair for all. Yet we cannot blame life itself as it is also our fault for being selfish.I stood there as his pack warriors lowered the casket down, Alphas and betas from other packs stood by it. They have come to pay tribute to the warriors and the Alpha of Daluna for their bravery.Aaron was nowhere in sight even Claire, the fake bitch was busy pretending to be miserable in her room. She wanted to earn everyone's pity and sympathy while deep down inside she wanted Aaron to be there for her, to take another chance. It must have been so good to have two people who fought over her, it must have been good to her for having a backup to a happy life-ending.I watch as one of the elders concluded the sermon and then one by one Alpha, Betas and the attendees left. Lucian came up

"I remember the first time I saw you," he says as he holds on to my hand. "You're everything I could ever wish and want to have. It was the first time I agreed with my wolf on something," his lips curved in a smile as if he is reminiscing that day."I want to be the best mate but then I couldn't. I just couldn't turn everything around. It wasn't fair for you Elle." I try to pull my hand away from his but he held it tight. "Please at least hear me out," he begs me."No Eric I can't. I... I...I don't think I can" I stutter as I tried to tell him not to go there with my tears almost bursting from my eyes. However, he pleaded with me to hear him out. Therefore, I ended up staying with him in his room.Eric raised his body and I try to help him but he stops me. "I can do it, Elle," he says as he leans his back against the bed's headboard. He took my hand and then made me sit in front of him. His hand reaches out and caresses my cheek. He touches me as if he is scared that I might break

  • A Mate For The Latecomer   Chapter 37: Truth

I lay on my bed with my hands on my stomach and eyes staring at the darkness of my room. It had been a while since I woke up and instead of walking around, I stay right there on my back with thoughts running through my head.I had blocked Eliz because I didn't want her to pester me to see Eric. Right now, I want to enjoy this peace before facing another storm. I didn't want to have hopes for my mate as our fate had been doomed before I even came into his life. However, what I want to do is to tell him that I am thankful and that I have forgiven him for everything. It's a good plan for moving forward and for my peace. When I have enough time of thinking, I pull off the sheet from my body and stood up to turn on the lights. I then went to the bathroom to wash my face, letting my barricade with Eliz break. I then tie up my black hair in a ponytail and for the first time, I look better. Actually, I feel better.I stood there watching my reflection. It's like I'm looking at a new me. Eliz

"Eric" I scream as we slowly sit down on the ground with him still in my arms as I keep shaking him. I am trying to keep his open eyes. "Lucian, he's dying" I scream at him, which snaps him out of his shocking state and run up to help us. "His breath is weaker. Please be quick he needs a healer," I tell him as he picks him up and I help put him on his back. Lucian and I rushed back to the territory premises. When we reach the hospital, I saw Claire running from the other side and in our direction. She looks scared and worried."What happened?" she asks but I just keep sobbing without answering her. "Eric" Claire cries and pushed me aside. She reaches out to Lucian and holds on t

'Jea was murdered and Zeus is the traitor.' I thought as I woke up in the familiar surroundings of my room at Aaron's pack. I let out a relieved sigh, knowing that I am safe. I then try twisting around on the bed and surprisingly I don't feel sore or experience any pain.'Thanks to the moon goddess.' The door slam open and Aberdeen walks in surprising me. There's a breakfast in her hands which made her focus on balancing the tray and not knowing that I am awake. I smile at her but the sound of her sniffling as if she's been crying made the smile on my face disappear. My heart goes out to my poor best friend. She must have been so worried."Aber."She stops and glances to see me. I smile at her again and Aber being Aber started to cry. She quickly places the tray on the table near the door and run up to me. • A Mate For The Latecomer   Chapter 34: Traitors

The news of Cascarade Pack being wiped out by rogues and hunters made me feel so many different emotions and I am drowning inside. I shouldn't feel this way for them, however, the bad deeds done by others do not define the innocent people and young pups that were living in the Cascarade pack.It was hard to understand how the massacre happened and why we were never being informed about it but when Jay explains to us what happened we then understood. He told us that the Cascarade Pack was attacked on the same day, and the rogues tried to kidnap me. It was a surprise attack that no one was prepared for it and so none of the neighboring and allied packs were informed. The wounded warrior that was carried in here, is the only survivor that has been on the runs from the rogues and hunters for days.I can imagine the horror the warrior went through and I hope he survives as his condition is too critical at the moment. "Jea created the barrier but how did the hunters make it through?" Aaron
