Vanessa's point of view

Not having a job meant you have a lot of free time. Having a lot of free time meant you were constantly bored. Constantly bored plus money in your bank account meant you could visit your dad who was in rehab without telling anyone.

Dad wasn't looking good. I mean, I knew he wasn't going to be looking his best in rehab but I hadn't expected what I was looking at. People always said I looked like my dad and I saw it too, the same skin tone, the same gray eyes, the same chestnut brown hair that even had the same bounce.

But now, all I saw was an old man that looked twice his age.

It also didn't help that I saw him once a year. I did everything possible to stop me from seeing him because I blamed and still blamed him for everything that happened.

"If it isn't my little Vanessa, seems like yesterday you were only five and running around with Vicky" He said as his own special way of greeting.

The same words he used anytime he saw me.

"Hello Dad" I greeted him with th

Vanessa's point of viewFor two people about to get married in less than two weeks, Anthony and I definitely did not see eye to eye about a lot of things. We also don't see eye to eye.We were complete strangers who acted as if the other person did not exist. We did what was expected of us and left the other person out of it.So imagine my surprise when I saw his text on Friday evening during my catch up with Mary."Do you have plans for today?" His text read.No good evening or how are you doing, just diving straight to the point. "No" I texted back.Delivered. Read. Three dots indicating he was typing and finally his next text."Get ready then, I'll be picking you up in thirty minutes" The nerve of this man. "No" I sent back a text out of spite.I dropped my phone back on the bed and pretended not to hear the loud bird tones that indicated I had received a text. I just couldn't believe the way this guy was acting.Mary raised her eyes from her nails to my phone and finally to my

Vanessa's point of view"So it's best we don't meet at all"We stared at each other, neither willing to say anything to the other person probably because we were both short of words. I dropped down on the blanket, my hands moving furiously through the picnic basket to find whatever snack he had picked.I picked up a piece of M and M's chocolate and poured them straight into my mouth, the chocolate taste filling my taste buds.I had no intention to talk to Anthony at the moment, my mind filled with baseless annoyance about the situation. The taste of the chocolate was no longer nice and it almost felt like I was chewing paper."You can't ignore me forever""Why did you pick out this sort of date?"We said at the same time. Silence because we had shocked the other to silence. And then he spoke up, his eyebrows almost coming together to indicate that various questions flooded his mind.He hadn't changed in that aspect."Why do we have to stay away from each other until we get married?" • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Thirteen - Disasters

Anthony's point of viewToday was one of those days where I did not want to leave the house. I just wanted to lay in bed and binge watch epic fail videos. Plus I was sleep deprived. After the bittersweet date with Vanessa and everything in between, I was unable to fall asleep when I came back from the fields because of the intrusive thoughts.Thoughts that I shouldn't have because everything that happened was and would always be Vanessa and her family's fault. I did not understand what the issue with Vanessa was. They had left their younger child with us when they travelled, at least that was what my mom said. I assumed my mother had refused to let them see Victor because of a breach of contract or something of sorts.Did Vanessa feel like she had abandoned her younger brother when they left him behind. Why did I have this sneaking suspicion that I wasn't told the full story about this particular situation. Was I just a pawn in their game?I could just lay in bed all day with all th

Anthony's point of viewDisasters were bound to happen but not to the boy I considered my baby brother. And that disaster better not cause harm to any body I considered a family member. Because I wouldn't and shouldn't be held accountable for whatever actions I took next.Which was why I was in the principal's office giving a very serious complain."..i don't care if the boys did not know they were acting carelessly, they sent that robot to attack my brother and I would not condone it" The Principal sighed sadly, he wrote some things in a piece of paper before turning back to me."Mr Thorn" He started, cleared his throat and tried again "Mr Thorn, I know you and your family is very angry. Believe me when I say, I am scared of what your mother would say when she wants to make her own complain but the boys claimed it was a malfunction they didn't detect on time....."I scoffed at that.Liars.The Principal however remained undeterred "We would provide the relevant materials Mr Ives nee

Vanessa's point of viewAt this time of the day all I wanted was a massage and a hot shower. But all I could get was the hot shower and gossip time.I told Mary everything I felt she should know and her replies were everything."Damn, you should have knock those boys head together with their wacky robot" She laughed at the situation "That would have made those rich moms come for you though"I chuckled "I'm sure Elizabeth would have handled the situation very well, she's also a rich mom" I said.Mary made a face when I called Elizabeth's name. It wasn't a name she liked because she didn't like the way Elizabeth announced the wedding to the whole country. And the fact that she didn't know what was happening at that time."Elizabeth can be cool when she wants to be, she used to be my role model""I don't know alot about you V, I don't even understand how you're getting married on Saturday which is two days from now" She raised two fingers up to drive home her point "To a man I didn't eve

Vanessa's point of viewAnthony's house turned out to be completely different from what I had expected. It was a freaking penthouse on top of the most expensive hotels in the city. And now that I thought about it, one of the most expensive and most recent chain of hotels."You don't have to act so surprised Vanessa, I told you I was going to get into hotels and suites or cars when I got older" Anthony said after he saw my stunned expression on the fact that he was staying in a penthouse.I shrugged, tried to act nonchalant "It's okay, I just didn't expect you to live in a penthouse""I have other houses, this penthouse just happened to be my favorite"Seeing the name and amount of wealth Anthony had made for himself in such a short amount of time made me think of the endless possibilities that could have happened if Dad hadn't started drugs or mom had stayed. Perhaps I would have gotten into real estate or become a designer or even ventured into the art like my dad.Instead I had to

Anthony's point of viewVanessa was pretty chill throughout the rest of the night. We played games and watched a movie before she fell asleep.I just couldn't fall asleep that night.I watched Vanessa sleep for a while, the gentle rhythmic rise and fall of her chest seemed to put me in some sort of trance. Her hair sometimes fell into her face tickling her nose and I had to move it away so she won't wake up.Her face almost turned baby like when she slept, except from the times she scrunched them up. Perhaps a bad dream of some sort.Vanessa, my passenger princess was simply beautiful. My thoughts went towards what happened between us hours ago, how a light tease had almost turned into something more. Something feral. If I hadn't turned it down, I was prepared to have her right there and then but I couldn't.I needed something to keep me grounded or I would just go about having sex with her without any thoughts. I would do unspeakable things that could put a dent in this thing my moth

Vanessa's point of viewMary and my sister had plans for me today.Mary and my sister, my sister whom Mary did not like at all had plans for me.And they gave no information about this plan to me, just a 'Dress hot' and wait for the Uber we ordered by 7pm.What was a girl supposed to do with such a vague piece of information.Could it be that they had prepared a bachelorette party for me.I dismissed the thought from my head. Mary would have surely asked for my opinions if she did something like that. But she had been acting like she was on a quiet time since I came back from Anthony's place. She even left the apartment without telling me anything.Out of boredom I texted Anthony.Me: Seems I might be getting that bachelorette party after all *party hat* *smiley face*I had spent the night at Anthony's house. We almost had something close to sex. He was still an amazing kisser. He had given me a contract that wasn't half bad and the opportunity to do whatever I wanted. If I gave it a

Anthony's point of viewEverything was a blur after that. Mom kept on screaming, she lost that calm composure she normally had whenever something was amiss. Mary started crying profusely and Vanessa tried to calm her down.It was all chaotic.Dad however, brought out a cigarette from from his pocket and lit the stick up. He took in a huge drag from the stick and blew the air out.In all my years of living, I had never seen my dad smoke before. I guessed you don't know everyone, not even someone you've lived with for a huge chunk of your life and once considered your role model."What's the matter boy? Haven't seen your old man smoking before?" He asked then smiled at me. He looked creepy now.Another stick was brought out of his pocket and extended towards me. He wanted me to join him.I moved backwards, "I'm sorry but I don't smoke" I told him.He chuckled, the sound different somehow. More morbid."Everyone dabbles in sin now and then, helps us keep a sharp mind," He told me.The so

Vanessa's point of viewThe dinner was Anthony's idea. He invited Elizabeth and Daniel, Ronald and Mary and I invited Victoria and Victor. I invited my dad and mom."I want to stay away from anything the Thorns are involved in dearest, I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it," Mom politely declined."There's no problem but I would be able to call you so you can chip your opinions right,?" I asked her.I could see her weighing her options, deciding if this would be worth the risk."My friend is suffering in silence, something needs to be done to stop this guy once and for all," I chipped in the one thing I knew would help the case. The one thing she might agree to.She sighed, "You can call me whenever you need to buy make sure they don't get my number."I ended the call and went back to preparing for the dinner.Anthony had been quiet for the past few hours after he decided that this was what we needed. He just went about playing with Xavier and staying out of my way.I watched them

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Three- Your father Daniel

Anthony's point of view. The sound of Vanessa's moans was the only thing I could hear. The way she called my name and begged me to touch her whenever I teased her for too long was something my body had missed for so long."Princess, you have to relax," I teased her with my teeth, gently nipping on the nipple while I played with the other breast with my hand. She would have glared at me if she could, "Stop wasting precious time, Victor would be back with Xavier soon," She said admist moans of pleasure.I chuckled, "Tell me how much you want me then princess," I slid two fingers inside her and curved it upwards, gently massaging with enough added pressure."I am going to kill you Anthony," She tried to say but the moans was too much for her, she was almost a whimpering mess underneath me.I stopped immediately I knew she was on the verge of an orgasm. I withdrew my hand and just lowered my mouth downwards to place a kiss on her neck."You're torturing me," She whispered in my ears, her

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Two- You have got to be kidding me

Vanessa's point of viewI was alone again for a few minutes. Mom had to make a call and her absence for those minutes gave me the time to reflect on what she had said about Daniel and the sort of things Dad's friends did to her.If she wasn't lying then something other the drugs was seriously wrong with dad. He hadn't even had the decency of telling us about this.Trading your wife to your friends was the sickest type of thing anyone could do. It was absolutely disgusting. The door opened again and mom came inside the room. I was more than ready to leave this place but something in me told me she wouldn't be as open as she was here outside. She was secure enough to say such things here. She wasn't secure outside."Did you tell any of my siblings this?" I asked."No, I don't think I can tell them. They wouldn't understand especially that sister of yours, Victor wasn't attached to me when I was there, sometimes I even thought he hated me," She said, I felt the pain in her voice even tho

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty One-My mother's side of the family

Vanessa's point of view"Isn't it better we just put this all behind us, honestly I don't think we should meet that woman and open old wounds," Victoria tried to talk me out of the it that day.I was back in Los Angeles and we were all in the house together. Anthony wanted to come with but he had some pressing matters to attend to in town, he kept in touch though.I then turned to Victor, he had a right to give me his opinion too.He shrugged, "She left when I was young and I wouldn't lie and say I don't want to know the reasons and meet her, I honestly do but it's too much, I don't think I'm ready yet," He turned his face to the side so I wouldn't see the tears that were already forming in his eyes."I'm still trying to prevent the bad memories of dad from coming to the surface when I come close to him," He added.I pursed my lips at those words. I had to make Victor see a therapist to help him, what was I saying..... The entire family needed to see a therapist because there must be

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty -Good riddance

Vanessa's point of view"What the heck?"I did not know who uttered those words between Anthony and myself. Out of all the scenerios I had imagined would happen when I finally came to this house, this wasn't what I expected."Josephine," That was definitely Anthony, he held the baby's head with his hand because the shock of the first shout had startled him and he was crying.Anthony had also had the intelligence to bring out his phone and he started recording the scene. He gave me the phone to continue so he could rock Xavier back to sleep."I did not know you were coming now," Josephine jumped out of the man's body, his dick was limp now as he tried to wear his clothes as fast as he could.Anthony seemed to know him."I didn't expect this from any of you, especially you. You're fucking married," Anthony shouted at the man, I was still recording but I made sure Anthony wasn't in the clip.Just Josephine and the man."I'm so sorry, I'm sorry," The man kept on repeating, when he was don

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Nine- What the heck

Vanessa's point of viewReturning back to town wasn't something I had thought about in a long time. Honestly, I figured we were going to just stay in Los Angeles, plant roots down or just leave the place when we desire.Anthony assured me Elizabeth wouldn't take my brother and son away from me, I hadn't seen her yet by the way but Anthony told me she had come. For a brief amount of time however and had left like there was something on her tail."I can't believe I'm leaving Kylie and all my new friends behind again, I was just starting to fit in," Victor complained to no one in particular, he was in his room putting clothes in his bags.I felt bad I was uprooting him from a new life to the old one again after I initially uprooted him from an old life to this. It honestly wasn't fair to the kid but I didn't know what I was going to do.Anthony and I had decided to give it a try again. A real try this time because there was nothing that could stop us, nothing that would come in the way o

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Eight-Reconciliation

Vanessa's point of viewThe light was blindingly bright and annoying. They should tell the hospital team to work better and build better lights so someone wouldn't wake up and then think she had gone to heaven. The beeping sound of the machine attached to me annoyed me but I let it be, I was still a little bit detached from reality and I did not want to do anything I would regret later on.A figure was seated on the chair by the side, head bent so I couldn't figure out who she was on time. It was Victoria though."Victoria," I tried to call out, my voice felt scratchy and hoarse from lack of use.She didn't stir so I figured out she was asleep. I did not know how long she had been with me so I allowed her to sleep. I drifted off to sleep few minutes later.I woke up two times after. The second time no one was with me and I was groggily anxious, I almost ripped the needles they had attached to me. Luckily a doctor walked into the room at that exact time and was able to sedate me.I sa

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Seven- Accident

Vanessa's point of viewRegrets. Confusion. Those were the only emotions I felt throughout Anthony's little visit and when he left. Then I felt disappointment because of the way my body reacted to him when he came, when he had us against the wall. The warmness and heat that seemed to pool in between my legs was something I hadn't felt for a very long time. I thought it was because of the pregnancy or childbirth so I didn't think anything was wrong with me.Then Victor. Oh my baby. I had done something I hadn't expected myself to do, all in all I behaved rather poorly when I thought about it."Victor," I whispered before knocking on his door.I had this nagging feeling that Victor would be gone from his room and from my life because he couldn't stand the kind of sister I had become. He would go back to the waiting arms of Elizabeth Thorn."Victor," I called out again, knocked harder but still no response. Was this the silent treatment phase? I opened the door and walked in to find Vic
