Vanessa's point of view

Mary and my sister had plans for me today.

Mary and my sister, my sister whom Mary did not like at all had plans for me.

And they gave no information about this plan to me, just a 'Dress hot' and wait for the Uber we ordered by 7pm.

What was a girl supposed to do with such a vague piece of information.

Could it be that they had prepared a bachelorette party for me.

I dismissed the thought from my head. Mary would have surely asked for my opinions if she did something like that.

But she had been acting like she was on a quiet time since I came back from Anthony's place. She even left the apartment without telling me anything.

Out of boredom I texted Anthony.

Me: Seems I might be getting that bachelorette party after all *party hat* *smiley face*

I had spent the night at Anthony's house. We almost had something close to sex. He was still an amazing kisser. He had given me a contract that wasn't half bad and the opportunity to do whatever I wanted.

If I gave it a

Vanessa's point of view"I know your secret"I stared back at the text for a few seconds, my mind already thinking about the possibility that someone out there knew a secret of mine.I had tons of secrets. Which one would it be?"Vanessa, are you coming?"Another text came from the same number."Sorry, wrong number. I was supposed to send this text to my cousin"And suddenly all the tension rolled out of my body. I turned to Mary and plastered the biggest smile on my face."You were saying, sorry I was a little distracted" Mary had this look in her eyes like she wanted to ask a question or say something but changed her mind at the last second and went into a long talk about the importance of pampering yourself once in a while. The apartment building was the same way I left it, the only difference was the bouquet of roses at the front of my door. "That's beautiful, I wondered who sent it" Mary cooed when she saw it, she rushed forward to pick it up and bring it to her nose taking a d

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty - A little sister's chat

Vanessa's point of viewThe party was not where I wanted to be at the end and I honestly would have preferred if Anthony had crashed the party. But he didn't and he didn't text me. Despite the numerous drunk texts I sent to his number, Anthony Thorn aka A Thorn in my Flesh refused to text me back.I took a huge gulp out of some sort of alcohol I did not know and waved at people I did not know, smiling and laughing when they wished me a happy marriage life while I'm struggling not to yell It's all fake to whoever was willing to hear.I wasn't mad at my sister for whatever happened. She had issues in her marriage and honestly her husband wasn't the best of husbands. He was a chronic gambler and a house painter who broke his leg during one of his painting jobs and was now waiting for it to heal so he was a stay at home dad."He beats me Vanessa" Victoria choked down a sob or a laughter I could not tell which one as she talked "Whenever he lost a bet or a game he would punch me in the eye

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty One- Soon to be a bride

Vanessa's point of view And we arrived our apartment by 12am that morning. Victoria was fully sober now while I was drunk and bumbling around like an idiot.I must have said a couple of things that did not make sense because I could feel her whispering into my ears. The name Mary kept on appearing in my subconscious mind but I could not for the life of me understand what the heck was going on.I was out as soon as my head fell on the pillow. The sunlight on my face was quite warm but the headache that assaulted me wasn't funny. I felt like the insides of my head was constantly being hit by the hardest hammer in the world. The groan that escaped from my lips was involuntary. I tried to get up but honestly the only thing I wanted to do was sleep throughout the day.I wouldn't even get up for the ......The Wedding. The speed I used to rise up from the bed could be added to one hundred ways to die because what was this. The headache came in thousand fold this time."Argghhhh" I groaned

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty Two-No Emergency

Vanessa's point of viewThe only thing amiss in the Thorn mansion was the lack of anything worthy enough to be called an emergency. However there was a few new additions. Not at the front of the mansion but at the back situated in the garden. Chairs were wrapped and arranged carefully side by side and there was this small pulpit where the priest was going to ordain the marriage.Elizabeth was nowhere to be found but I could see my sister and Daniel, Elizabeth husband ordering some people around and cussing out loud when they got it wrong."Where the fuck is the emergency and my brother?" I shouted out loud to no one in particular but to everyone that could give me answers.Mary was by my side but she said nothing. The activities going on in the garden continued going on but Victoria and Daniel turned around at the sound of my voice. Daniel gave me a strained smile that did not reach his eyes while Victoria was ecstatic to see me."I'm so happy Anthony was able to get you to come on ti

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty Three- Here Comes the bride

Anthony's point of viewThe urge to go into the bathroom right after Vanessa went in was stronger than any other situation I had seen myself in. I remembered the electric jolt I felt when I came into the apartment this morning and saw her lying on the bed, her body in this sort of babies position with her hair covering her face. She looked so much younger, I almost felt like we were in high school again. Then the call from dad about Victoria's dad going ballistic on Victor and he needed me to come sort out the issue. I could not leave Victoria alone but luckily for me, her roommate arrived at precisely that moment. Now here I was, taking the man I spent so much time grooming myself yesterday back to the rehabilitation center. Why did he have to behave this way?The car drive there was quiet because I had nothing to say to him at the moment. Sometimes when I was sure he wouldn't see me, I stared at him from the corner of my eyes.Vanessa, Victoria and Victor's father. The famous artis

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty Four-First time

Anthony's point of viewThe after party was interesting enough but honestly I just wanted to go home now. The events of the day had really exhausted me.My grandparents had gotten Vanessa in a chokehold and did not seem to want to leave her side any time soon. I knew my grandmother was already smitten by her judging by the numerous amount of times she kept on holding her cheeks. My grandfather too but he wasn't going to show it.Honestly, I just wanted to walk past without anyone noticing but my grandfather had eyes sharper than a hawk. He saw me and he called me over. I couldn't move forward without looking like a rude man who would definitely hear about it later."I see you guys have become acquianted with my lovely wife" I said, placed my hands casually on her waist then place a kiss on her cheeks.Grandma smacked my hand "Don't you think you guys have done enough kissing for today. Don't traumatize the older generation" She placed her hands over her eyes to drive home her point.G

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Twenty Five- Honeymoon

Vanessa's point of viewWatching Anthony sleep peacefully after everything we did made me realize I actually wanted to start working as soon as possible.I did not want to rely too much on Anthony and his mom. And Victoria would be going to college soon if everything worked out. Oh my gosh.Anthony's penthouse was the definition of exquisite and modern. He had not given me a tour yet and the first time I came here, I was too much of a chicken to take the tour by myself. His kitchen where I had prepared breakfast this morning was nothing short of the latest technology. Something I knew he hardly used because though Anthony could cook, he preferred not to. It had take some practicing but I got used to the few gadgets I needed to use to prepare breakfast.I had seen his room. Had spent the night there and this morning too.But the rest of the apartment was still a mystery. I moved around the apartment taking note of the rooms, perhaps I could turn one to a designer workshop. The room I

Vanessa's point of view"Why the heck is this place scattered? Just two days and this place is a dump" I screamed as soon as I opened the door to my apartment. My ex apartment.Mary was seated on the floor, legs crossed together and arms stretched to the back in an abnormal yoga position. Mary was doing yoga. She only did yoga when she was stressed."What's wrong?" I asked coming to her side as fast as I could, I wrapped my hand around her shoulder.I could feel the tremors that occured within various intervals, the struggle not to cry as she shook really badly. I did the only thing I knew I would be able to do. I continued to hold her until every single tremor had stopped, every tiny hiccup was quenched and she could give me a smile on that pretty little face.Dressed in a simple sports bra and leggings, Mary looked like she should be in the gym she had a membership in and not in the apartment."I'm okay really" She said, her lips breaking into a grin that did not quite reach her ey

Anthony's point of viewEverything was a blur after that. Mom kept on screaming, she lost that calm composure she normally had whenever something was amiss. Mary started crying profusely and Vanessa tried to calm her down.It was all chaotic.Dad however, brought out a cigarette from from his pocket and lit the stick up. He took in a huge drag from the stick and blew the air out.In all my years of living, I had never seen my dad smoke before. I guessed you don't know everyone, not even someone you've lived with for a huge chunk of your life and once considered your role model."What's the matter boy? Haven't seen your old man smoking before?" He asked then smiled at me. He looked creepy now.Another stick was brought out of his pocket and extended towards me. He wanted me to join him.I moved backwards, "I'm sorry but I don't smoke" I told him.He chuckled, the sound different somehow. More morbid."Everyone dabbles in sin now and then, helps us keep a sharp mind," He told me.The so

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Four- Engagement

Vanessa's point of viewThe dinner was Anthony's idea. He invited Elizabeth and Daniel, Ronald and Mary and I invited Victoria and Victor. I invited my dad and mom."I want to stay away from anything the Thorns are involved in dearest, I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it," Mom politely declined."There's no problem but I would be able to call you so you can chip your opinions right,?" I asked her.I could see her weighing her options, deciding if this would be worth the risk."My friend is suffering in silence, something needs to be done to stop this guy once and for all," I chipped in the one thing I knew would help the case. The one thing she might agree to.She sighed, "You can call me whenever you need to buy make sure they don't get my number."I ended the call and went back to preparing for the dinner.Anthony had been quiet for the past few hours after he decided that this was what we needed. He just went about playing with Xavier and staying out of my way.I watched them

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Three- Your father Daniel

Anthony's point of view. The sound of Vanessa's moans was the only thing I could hear. The way she called my name and begged me to touch her whenever I teased her for too long was something my body had missed for so long."Princess, you have to relax," I teased her with my teeth, gently nipping on the nipple while I played with the other breast with my hand. She would have glared at me if she could, "Stop wasting precious time, Victor would be back with Xavier soon," She said admist moans of pleasure.I chuckled, "Tell me how much you want me then princess," I slid two fingers inside her and curved it upwards, gently massaging with enough added pressure."I am going to kill you Anthony," She tried to say but the moans was too much for her, she was almost a whimpering mess underneath me.I stopped immediately I knew she was on the verge of an orgasm. I withdrew my hand and just lowered my mouth downwards to place a kiss on her neck."You're torturing me," She whispered in my ears, her

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty Two- You have got to be kidding me

Vanessa's point of viewI was alone again for a few minutes. Mom had to make a call and her absence for those minutes gave me the time to reflect on what she had said about Daniel and the sort of things Dad's friends did to her.If she wasn't lying then something other the drugs was seriously wrong with dad. He hadn't even had the decency of telling us about this.Trading your wife to your friends was the sickest type of thing anyone could do. It was absolutely disgusting. The door opened again and mom came inside the room. I was more than ready to leave this place but something in me told me she wouldn't be as open as she was here outside. She was secure enough to say such things here. She wasn't secure outside."Did you tell any of my siblings this?" I asked."No, I don't think I can tell them. They wouldn't understand especially that sister of yours, Victor wasn't attached to me when I was there, sometimes I even thought he hated me," She said, I felt the pain in her voice even tho

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty One-My mother's side of the family

Vanessa's point of view"Isn't it better we just put this all behind us, honestly I don't think we should meet that woman and open old wounds," Victoria tried to talk me out of the it that day.I was back in Los Angeles and we were all in the house together. Anthony wanted to come with but he had some pressing matters to attend to in town, he kept in touch though.I then turned to Victor, he had a right to give me his opinion too.He shrugged, "She left when I was young and I wouldn't lie and say I don't want to know the reasons and meet her, I honestly do but it's too much, I don't think I'm ready yet," He turned his face to the side so I wouldn't see the tears that were already forming in his eyes."I'm still trying to prevent the bad memories of dad from coming to the surface when I come close to him," He added.I pursed my lips at those words. I had to make Victor see a therapist to help him, what was I saying..... The entire family needed to see a therapist because there must be

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Eighty -Good riddance

Vanessa's point of view"What the heck?"I did not know who uttered those words between Anthony and myself. Out of all the scenerios I had imagined would happen when I finally came to this house, this wasn't what I expected."Josephine," That was definitely Anthony, he held the baby's head with his hand because the shock of the first shout had startled him and he was crying.Anthony had also had the intelligence to bring out his phone and he started recording the scene. He gave me the phone to continue so he could rock Xavier back to sleep."I did not know you were coming now," Josephine jumped out of the man's body, his dick was limp now as he tried to wear his clothes as fast as he could.Anthony seemed to know him."I didn't expect this from any of you, especially you. You're fucking married," Anthony shouted at the man, I was still recording but I made sure Anthony wasn't in the clip.Just Josephine and the man."I'm so sorry, I'm sorry," The man kept on repeating, when he was don

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Nine- What the heck

Vanessa's point of viewReturning back to town wasn't something I had thought about in a long time. Honestly, I figured we were going to just stay in Los Angeles, plant roots down or just leave the place when we desire.Anthony assured me Elizabeth wouldn't take my brother and son away from me, I hadn't seen her yet by the way but Anthony told me she had come. For a brief amount of time however and had left like there was something on her tail."I can't believe I'm leaving Kylie and all my new friends behind again, I was just starting to fit in," Victor complained to no one in particular, he was in his room putting clothes in his bags.I felt bad I was uprooting him from a new life to the old one again after I initially uprooted him from an old life to this. It honestly wasn't fair to the kid but I didn't know what I was going to do.Anthony and I had decided to give it a try again. A real try this time because there was nothing that could stop us, nothing that would come in the way o

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Eight-Reconciliation

Vanessa's point of viewThe light was blindingly bright and annoying. They should tell the hospital team to work better and build better lights so someone wouldn't wake up and then think she had gone to heaven. The beeping sound of the machine attached to me annoyed me but I let it be, I was still a little bit detached from reality and I did not want to do anything I would regret later on.A figure was seated on the chair by the side, head bent so I couldn't figure out who she was on time. It was Victoria though."Victoria," I tried to call out, my voice felt scratchy and hoarse from lack of use.She didn't stir so I figured out she was asleep. I did not know how long she had been with me so I allowed her to sleep. I drifted off to sleep few minutes later.I woke up two times after. The second time no one was with me and I was groggily anxious, I almost ripped the needles they had attached to me. Luckily a doctor walked into the room at that exact time and was able to sedate me.I sa

  • A Marriage Of Convenience   Chapter Seventy Seven- Accident

Vanessa's point of viewRegrets. Confusion. Those were the only emotions I felt throughout Anthony's little visit and when he left. Then I felt disappointment because of the way my body reacted to him when he came, when he had us against the wall. The warmness and heat that seemed to pool in between my legs was something I hadn't felt for a very long time. I thought it was because of the pregnancy or childbirth so I didn't think anything was wrong with me.Then Victor. Oh my baby. I had done something I hadn't expected myself to do, all in all I behaved rather poorly when I thought about it."Victor," I whispered before knocking on his door.I had this nagging feeling that Victor would be gone from his room and from my life because he couldn't stand the kind of sister I had become. He would go back to the waiting arms of Elizabeth Thorn."Victor," I called out again, knocked harder but still no response. Was this the silent treatment phase? I opened the door and walked in to find Vic
