Chapter 97

He vowed to keep my secret, and he has been doing so for months now. We never spoke about it; it was almost as if it never happened. But the countless nights I woke up from my sleep panting because of the repeated nightmare I had didn’t let me forget.

I thought that he should have learned something from that experience, but it turned out that he was not in the least affected by everything that was happening. I couldn’t blame him, though. He wasn’t the one that hit Jenny, so I guess he had nothing to be guilty of.

After what felt like forever, Steve stepped out of the showers, eyes still as red as a bull’s.

“Feeling better now?” I asked him with a cocked brow.

He nodded, sluggishly towel-drying his hair. “You are going to rehab, Steve,” I declared.

“I am not an addict,” Steve said begrudgingly, mumbling under his breath.
