Sun sets, and the entire army was bound to return to Abberant. Mounted on a horse, I calmly lead the voyage. Down a valley, where clouds heads down to touch the earth and the greeneries kissing the last drop of sunshine. A simple gesture on my hand released thousands of silver arrows from the sky.
“Assassins!”
“Watch out!”
“Protect the Commander!”
Dozens surrounded me in an instance, sheltering me from the flaming arrows. With no hesitation, I draw out the sword from my left and mercilessly slashed their throats. Only blank emotion was left all over my face and blood stained across. I fearlessly turned around as I gashed to death the last warrior on my side. And almost all of them stared at me incredulous, witnessing how I kill their comrades the way they kill their vampire preys.
“Sinandaya legion, charge!!!” I directed with my left hand raised, aiming at the werewolf army. In a blink, a cavalry of vampires with silver weapons raced down from the mountains. Killing every single werewolf their senses had detected apart from the spies and disguised vampires I’ve placed all over the entire army. A perfect ambush.
Those plead, cries and grouse… I’ll let them feel how dreadful a sudden attack is. I’ll give back the taste of both having the last breath and a surprise. Every drop of their blood will paint the pavement, and scream how honorable it is to kill a group of people. And return their dead bodies back to their hometown, I’ll watch how their forsaken ones come to grieve and mourn. That even if they scream and cry blood, nothing will come back. I’ll repay them a hundred times of pain and sorrow they’ve caused us.
“Spare no one. Not even a single breath nor a lone beg.” Clusters of words spill out of my lips as I keep a glacial response. The sun sank, and the last warrior standing stumbled down lifeless. Out crept a simper, this is just the beginning and the remaining days of the Abberant pack will be counted from this day.
“Send someone to inform that Alpha regarding this sudden ambush,” I ordered and three of the disguised assassins gushed out.
“Adira, the Alpha already have known who you are. Isn’t it a dangerous act for you to enter the pack again?” Mayari disclosed.
A smile slipped out while my eyes still stuck ahead to where the day ended and the road really was painted red. “There is this reason why the Alpha still hasn’t eradicated my presence in his territory. As long as I still got this reason, he cannot do harm to me.”
“It’s a good luck, then. We got your back, just call when you need us and we’ll emerge from shadows.” With that, no one was left except me. Everyone just dashed off and disappear. I held the horse’s lead line and rode away, only 3 kilometers remaining before I reach the Abberant pack’s mansion.
It was dark everywhere but the moonlight was there enough to let me see the road and directions ahead. My armor clothing was not even enough to combat the freezing zephyr at this moment, with tall lush trees and the sound of crickets started to fill in. Still my senses are wide awake when a sudden familiar feeling awakened my thirst. Shadows of a furry creature caught my gaze resulting for me to drop down and wait for it to show up.
“You’re really challenging me.” His voice finally echoed. I gave him a sly smile as I turned towards his direction and watch him shift back.
“You came.”
“What else? You’ll raise an attack the next day?”
“Have a good guess, Darling.”
My fangs revealed and I can feel how my eyes turned red aiming at his neck. This kind of response that his presence around me drives me uncontrollable. I’ve never felt this way before, just the moment our eyes had collided and it’s something that makes me hook on those ocean-like eyes.
“Mind if I ask for your name?” A question popped out my tongue as I drifted away and wiped away the blood smeared on my lips.
He looked at me with his signature tantalizing smile while his hand suddenly cupped my face. “Are you now interested in me?”
“Call it whatever you want. You have already known my name, isn’t it a little bit unfair not knowing yours?”
The Alpha leaned closer to me as he pulls my waist a centimeter away from him. At this moment, my mind protested. Yet here goes my heart racing and banging like I’m on a marathon. I lost control and my legs seems to collapse if ever he’d let go of his hands off me. It feels weak and as my head rises to meet his intimidating stare, all of my arrogance fades away.
“Diego Alfarro,” he muttered, drawing near my ears and clicked something behind me which I lately realized what it was. “You’re gorgeous behind this metal.”
I quickly grabbed the bronze mask on his hands but as soon as I touched the tip of it, he gripped it higher than I could reach. “I’ve been wondering what’s hiding behind this mask, and this is the closest thing I could do this time. So, let me admire how alluring this lady in front of me is.”
My lips shut sealed speechless when he initiated a kiss without any warning. And it does not last for only a second, I don’t understand how he commands even my body to respond to him. I just found myself countering his sudden attack under the moon’s brightest light, across the valley with the gloomy scenery and the freezing swift of the wind that seems to not bother this guy in front of me despite having no clothes on.
“What kind of enchantment are you doing this time?” I asked when he eventually parted, trying to get away and divert my attention. I should not fall for an Alfarro’s deceptive trap. He is an enemy from the start and will always be until the end.
“What enchantment? Just say you want more of it, you don’t need to deny when I’m the one whom you’re with.”
That smile again, that smile always erases the grudge I have long plotted in my heart. He turns the table every time he’s this close to me and that I can’t even hold my walls up. “W-Why are you doing this?” another question slipped out of my tongue that causes him to bend an inch away from my face with the grin not leaving his lips.
“I suppose you’re not that dumb to ask a question so shallow as that, Adira. Do I need to repeat it again?”
Right, he’s my mate. That someone who is my complete half. But unfortunately, he is an enemy at the same time. If I can rewrite destiny, can I inscribe that we do not belong to any clan without feuds and grudges? My eyes remained on his, that oceanic vibe I won’t get tired of. His eyes that keeps me so obsessed to him.
“Even if we are this close, I could not deny how many miles we’re far away from each other. Even though I recognize you as my mate, I do not know how to trust you. You bear a name, a clan that I have pledged to kill ruthlessly. In the end, we are bound to lead an army against each other on the battlefield—”
He blocked, smashing his lips on me and pushing my back against a tree. I was left dumbfounded as he spoke afore me, not keeping a distance more than an inch. “Just this time, can you forget who we are behind the shadows? Just the two of us, no feuds and grudges, ordinary creatures with no status nor responsibilities. Adira, who am I to you?”
My lips opened to utter a word, but closes again the moment I realized I couldn’t say anything. I can not answer him. Even if I forget those things, he is out of my reach. He is someone I could not grab, yet so close to where am I. My head gradually bend down but before I could totally fell, he cupped my face, returning my gaze back to him.
“I know you despise me that much. I just want to hear that you know and recognize who am I even if it’s only a lie. Even if it’s just a word coming out from you, I just want to hear you say it. Just to fill the questions that keeps on raging in my mind. Because you do not know how it hurts a lot to see you once again… but you no longer remember who am I to you.”
“D-Diego…” A flash of longing and melancholy, the emotions reflecting in his eyes hits me that much. There is something from him that I do not know, there is something between us more than being mates.
Episode 5: An Alfarro“Forget it,” He murmured, grabbing my hand as he walks away.“What’s with my hand? Why are you dragging me?” I complained but he did not answer. He walks faster and faster like he’s chasing someone which I do not understand why he needs to take my hand. My forehead creased as I let my legs follow him until we reached a cliff. The edge of the cliff that boasts the best place to see such scenery, a smile suddenly was painted on my lips unrestrained. I stepped closer at the cliff’s furthermost part and stretched out my arms. The full moon seems to draw really close that I can touch even the glow it possesses, sceneries like these makes my heart finds its ca
Episode 6: Sign“Did he leave?” I questioned which I later then answered on my own, “Of course he did, you wouldn’t come here if he is still around.”“I do not know if you really get it or you’re just acting unaware,” Diego enunciated as he wipes off the remaining drips of blood on his neck. “He is my father, do you think I would just stand there and watch you two kill each other?”“It could’ve been a wonderful live performance for you to watch.” He chortled as he turned away and walked towards the opened veranda door. “If I am you, yes I might’ve done that. But I am not someone wh
Episode 7: Strange disease As soon as we reached Cabuyao forest, I extracted a single drop of my blood to an ayusip gem then tossed it in between the gaps of two gigantic pine trees. Ayusip gems were pygmy rare stones that turn from blue to red when it absorbs a tiny amount of blood, and only Sinandaya territory has this kind of gem which we constantly use to enter the portal. Sinandaya has long been hidden from the rest of Claveria by the help of sorcery and one can only enter when a vampire’s blood drips down the ayusip gem. “Stop!” thundered a voice. It was from Tyler, the current brigadier in charge of the regiment. “A deadly strange disease was spreading throughout the capital and the other districts. Commander Felipe
Episode 8: Rigel Kentaurus Three days and a couple of nights, the envoy has finally returned from Pinansey-angan territory. Dustin and Lireign led that envoy which I rest assured they’ve handled the task well. Apart from the trusted ones inside the kingdom, they are the ones who have the gentle way of talking and calm appearance that makes them the perfect messengers. “What do they ask in return?” Felipe queried. We are on a covered area that they’ve created as a conference hall with the barrier separating us from the inside. The leaders of the districts were also present as to this meeting. Sinandaya kingdom was divided into four states, mainly the Abatan of the southern Sinandaya, the Halsema in the east, Ampusungan in the west, and the capital part is Naguey.
“Sinandaya kingdom has been hidden for a decade. And to this time, only this territory knew our existence. So as part of our condition, I request for this matter to stay confidential.” “Tell me a reason why we should keep it confidential,” Vander mouthed as he keeps his hand on his chin and the other on a glass chalice filled with blood. Two of his male confidants were standing on the side while the three of us, Lireign and Dustin, were sitting surrounding the round table. It was already dusk but none of us weren’t ready to leave because this Prince is making the deal much more difficult. He always morphs and diverts the discussion for I don’t even know the reason why.
“Where is she?” “Who?” Diego just shrugged when I opened the door. Revealing him in his suit earlier, army green tunic and a black trouser. And I couldn’t deny that he’s much more daunting and… ok, charismatic. “That lady who seems to be enjoying your company,” I answered in a sarcastic way. “Oh that, she’s just someone I used to know.”&n
“How was the third trial?” “Higher positivity than the first one.” “And is that good news?” Felipe smiled coquettishly as he showed me a tiny bottle filled with lilac liquid. “Efficacious, Gaia. The antidote was successful!” he bawled as he happily grasped the bottle in his hands. No matter how tough and tyrant he looks and acts, Felipe still has his soft side. “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s carry out the next step,” I replied full of glee and gaiety. “Four-thousand bottles were now on its way throughout the four states. And we have more
“What happened, General?”“She still demands it. And if I agreed, we will suffer the greatest loss. What did Felipe say?”“Nothing important, General. He just asked how your conversation with Lieutenant Samara was going,” Mayari answered as she walks beside me. Exits were blocked under my command and that Samara just chuckled and walked away. “We’re now here, General. I’ll take my leave now,” Mayari again smiled and puts on her mask as she again dashed away. Someone ordered her to take me to this place. And even if I don’t ask, this scent highlights who this someone is. “What do you want from me?” I incited as I paced towards the direct
Death… is never evitable. Life has started the sprout. And then when it blossoms and reaches the end, they’re sent to death. That’s why they called them best of friends. “What would you want to be your reward, Gaia?” His voice reverberates inside my head. It still sounds euphonious even if it’s only a memory. “Balaraw. Hand me a dagger that is winged with a symbol of nobility and a warrior. I want it to be finely-worked with precious metals and ivory.” A tear fell down and blotted the cream color of the ivory handle. My fingers simply glided it away as I pulled the blade off from its sheath. &nbs
Adira’s POV“How many had Sinandaya sent?” I asked Tyler, Sinandaya’s second-in-command, while I stand on the military camp reserves’ portion.“Five platoons under His Highness’ order,” he answered with his hands crossed behind him. Right, from the moment Sinandaya has been brought back on Claveria’s map and its existence to the other territories’ eyes, Felipe Homura finally was crowned as the prince regent and should’ve been formally Sinandaya’s Emperor if it weren’t because of me who pulled another war. If it weren’t because of Tyler, I couldn’t have known the reason why Felipe left abruptly.“Does it in
Third person’s POV The blasting of the cannons, the yells and screams of bleeding hearts full of strong desire to grasp justice and stability, are all gone. The field that had once grown vast seas of dandelions now was covered in crimson blood. Cruelty, deceit, and wondrous bloodshed. Killing and rivalry had never left the world. His eyes were like raging seas, his every step closer and nearer to where the subject is was like thunder meeting the ground. The fire had been ignited and there was no turning back.“We met again,” he spoke. Amidst the dark skies with only the shine of the
“I’m not gonna shut unless you tell me what happened at the field,” I irritatedly replied when she again yelled at me to shut up. But still, she didn’t answer what I ask for and darted me a glare before taking it back to the tiny creature he was holding. “I’m not a good storyteller. Just do ask your good friend when he comes back later.” My eyes automatically rolled and lay my back on a standing pillow as I sip from a glass of blood. Then she suddenly talked, starting a decent conversation perhaps.“Do you have a name for him?” I shook my head and flung a plain stare at the sleeping baby in
Third person’s POV*Sinandaya; A week before Diego had left Abberant pack for the convocation in Shadowstone“It seems like you want to find something.” Snow is falling so hard. The windows are all shut tight except for the door that slammed open from the outside. In came a woman zipping her leather jacket. Her hair was untied and messed up flowing with the wind.“I know you,” blurted the man sitting on a single-seater couch facing the lighted fireplace. Her hair with a streak of crimson red settled on her shoulder when she tied it slowly as her feet approaches the man with a tied dark brunette hair.“So, you get cold too? Didn&rsqu
“What? They’re declaring what?” I almost tip over when one of Mayari’s team suddenly flashed down from the front carrying a sealed letter. And Pinansey-angan’s attack was stopped unanticipatedly.“Ceasefire, General. They want to pause temporarily.” My brows furrowed even more that I snatched the letter from her. But instead of a decent group of words, what’s written was a bunch of meaningless ones. ‘The Senate’s judgment.’“Why should I care about the Senate’s judgment?” I muttered irately with my fist clenching the piece of paper.
“The princess regent of Daghum committed the most ridiculous thing during a war. Hmm, never have expected that,” Marco casually commented as his eyes travel meters towards the enemies’ side. It’s almost set. Only a few more hours and the sun will be buried in the east, the signal for them to attack.“For now, we should leave her case for tomorrow. We have a problem that much needed our attention than hers. Do you two have something in mind?” I questioned them. Mayari talked and pointed Daghum’s army on the far corner of the frontier’s first line of defense. “What happens to them? I don’t think they will be under our control, now that their commander had left.”
Being told about my pathetic chronicle, Mayari shut silent about the Abberant’s side and didn’t ask any more questions. Except these two; the current beta of Sanguine and the princess regent of Daghum, trying to crack the shell.“I am warning you, Lady. If you dare step in my way, I’m gonna kill you.”“Oh, really? As if you can approach me, not even an inch, lowl!”“What? Do you think you’re that difficult to slit?” Since these two entered the tent for the convocation, they’re like cat and dog trying to kill each other in quarreling. One’s defending Abberant and the other against his side.
“Gaia!” Mayari blurted, eyeing the black stallion I’m in. Edith’s right, they’re all in here. Abberant’s main frontier, specifically in the fallen first and second lines of defense, was now retained by three divisions; Daghum, Sanguine, and Mayari’s platoon.“I need the plan,” I opened. Leaping down the horse and walking towards Mayari. A sword was on her side and attached to her leather-like chest plate were clusters of tiny daggers and blades, and if I would guess, it was not only secret weapons that were resting inside every clutch but of other useful things like pieces of cloth and perhaps tablets. “The&mda
