Avery’s POV

Kane turned me to face him. “Stay here, Avery and you’ll be safe. I won’t take long just wait for me.” He said, getting ready to chase down the intruders.

“What?! No!” I yelled. “I want to come with you. I can help you fight them. I may not be able to shift, but trust me, I can still fight.” I argued.

“I know you can sweetheart,” Kane said, his voice softening for a moment. “But I need you to be safe. If anything happened to you, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. Just be my good girl and wait here, please or I might have to punish you.” He begged.

I clenched my fists, fighting the urge to argue further. I knew that he was just worried for me, but that didn’t make it any easier to accept.

Eventually, I was able to manage a reluctant nod. “Fine, I’ll wait.”

But before he left, I grabbed his face and kissed him, hard. “Promise me you’ll come back safely.”

Kane cupped my cheek, his thumb brushing my skin. “I promise, my Nuri. I’ll come back to you safel

Avery’s POV Hot tears began to stream down my face as Zander and Greyson rushed Kane back to the palace where doctors and nurses were already waiting to treat him. I wanted to hold Kane’s hand through out the procedure, but the doctors forced me to wait outside while they saved his life. I felt the painful pressure of guilt on my chest. This was my fault. The men had come to my window, they had come for me. Kane would not have been hurt if it weren’t for me. The thought twisted my gut, and I wanted to punch a wall. Most preferably, I would have loved to punch the faces of those intruders that had dared to hurt Kane. Who were they anyway? I remembered that their scent was familiar.. like someone from my former pack, but I wasn’t able to place it so I could be wrong. The crazy thing was that, if the person were from spring pack, I would have been able to mind link them and found their identity a few hours ago. But that was impossible now because I had cut ties with t

James POV I sat on the edge of my bed, with Avery’s unopened letter in my hand. After taking a deep breath, I tore the envelope open and began to read. "Dear James, I heard you have been punishing yourself for what happened between us. Please, stop. I have already forgiven you and I don’t wish you any bad will. We were both hurt by how things ended, and we both lost the life and future we had spent so many years creating, but holding onto that pain won’t do anything but cause is more pain. You always say that we’ll be together till death does us part, well I’m sure you heard that I was killed on the day of the attack. I don’t understand how I survived it, but I was told that I truly died for a few hours, so that means that death has truly parted us. With that in mind, I hereby release you from every promise and vow you have ever made to me as my husband and lover. It’s time for you to move on with Lizzy, just as I have. My only wish now is for you to become the car

  • A Luna of fire   James and the blight

James POV After Kane’s letter was read, the hall fell so silent that you could almost hear the proverbial pin drop. I could even see that a few Alphas had begun to anxiously sweat, despite the cold temperature of the room. Most of them were scared now, and no one could blame them. Alpha Kane had just threatened to kill us all if we tried to take Avery, Marie and Brianne from the north. And everyone of us knew from painful experience that Kane was a man of his word. He did not make threats lightly. The hall remained into a quiet as Elder Novak proceeded to open the package Alpha Kane had sent. Inside was a set of rare and valuable western knives, clearly hand crafted by most of our highly trained warriors. It was proof that someone from the west had truly been foolish enough to attack the north, but who? Who else besides me wanted Avery so badly that they wanted to risk a war for her sake?My mind went to Dorian, but I quickly dismissed the thought because I wanted to believe t

Avery’s POV I held the large fish tightly in my hand as I walked into the forest with Leah, my wolf turned puppy, padding alongside me. She glanced up at me, and I could see her golden eyes was filled with worry. "i really don’t think this is a good idea," Leah mind linked me. "Kane told us never to leave the palace because it’s dangerous, shouldn’t we listen?” I shrugged. "So should we allow fear of danger stop us from saving his life?” I asked and she sighed. I wasn’t intentionally going against Kane’s warning because I was stubborn. I was going against it because it’s the only way I knew how to save his life and ensure his quick recovery. The doctors told us that it would take an ultimate miracle for Kane to be healed in a few weeks, but he would most like be permanently scarred from the injuries. If Kane hadn’t been determined to protect me, none of this would have happened. I owed it to him to help him in anyway I could. So far, the forest seemed fine and s

  • A Luna of fire   A gentleman

Kane’s POV If I wasn’t sure of my feelings for Avery before, then I was more than sure now. I now honestly believed that the goddess must have tied out destines together or Avery must have put a spell on me because—there was no other way to explain the raw, sharp, sheer terror that consumed when I heard that Hailey had sent Avery into the dangerous forest all alone. I almost had a heart attack and I knew that Hailey did it intentionally. I already knew that Hailey had been acting as a spy for a while now, she had been snooping around for any trace of Mona. But I’d taken every necessary precaution, to ensure that there was no evidence leading to Mona anywhere near me. It really wasn’t my intention to keep the sisters from each other, but Mona thought it was necessary, so I had to be the bad guy and keep lying to Hailey no matter how bad I felt when I saw Hailey break down from missing her sister. But the unfortunate thing was that Hailey was a smart girl and she seemed

  • A Luna of fire   An insult to Avery

Kane’s POV But I soon realized that today was just meant to punish me because Avery abruptly fell asleep as soon as she really settled in my lap. I was left with a raging hard on and it was a battle not to let the tears fall. Being the big boy I was, I swallowed my pain, covered her in a bed sheet, and fixed her pillow, doing my best to make sure she was very comfortable and would not have a neck pain when she woke up. When she woke up the next morning, she was so embarrassed, but I thought she was adorable. I was actually glad she’d drank that wine because it brought her to me and allowed her to open up about all the things the faerie had told her that were eating at her—especially the topic of Mona. My breath hitched when Avery mentioned her name, but I sighed. I always knew that we would eventually have this discussion, but there was no easy way to talk about it. Because how can I tell the woman I want to be with, that the last woman I wanted chose to die rather th

  • A Luna of fire   Time together

Avery’s POV I noticed the look in Kane’s eyes and I realized that his wolf had risen to the surface. But I knew that inner wolves of men as powerful as Kane would always be wild and unpredictable. If I didn’t do something now, Kane could hold me down on the bed and ravage me. I knew that he would stop if I asked him to, but I was worried that if I let him start, it would feel too good to ask him to stop. But I didn’t want our first time to be because his wolf was horny, I wanted it to be he because Kane and I wanted it and felt like it was time. I already felt like it was time and I actually really really wanted him, but I needed to be sure that Kane was ready and really wanted me too, so I put my hand up and stopped Kane from kissing me. Kane pouted like a little boy that was denied his treat and I chuckled at him. “We have been in bed for too long, shouldn’t we attend to your other responsibilities like ruling the north?” I teased, and reached for the papers Sophie

Avery’s POV He stepped back to admire his handiwork, his eyes raking over me with a predatory hunger that made my breath hitch. I pulled experimentally at the restraints, but they held firm. I was at his mercy now, and the realization sent a wave of heat straight to my core. “Comfortable?” he asked, his tone mocking as he moved back toward the bed. I gave him a defiant look. “You’re enjoying this too much.” “And you’re enjoying pretending you’re not,” he shot back, climbing onto the bed and positioning himself above me. His hands roamed over my body, lingering on the places he knew drove me crazy, teasing me with just the right amount of pressure to make me squirm. “Maybe I am,” I admitted, my voice breathy as I felt his hands slide lower. “But that doesn’t mean I’m going to make it easy for you.” Kane’s eyes darkened with desire as he leaned in closer, his lips brushing against mine. “Oh, I don’t want easy. Avery’s POV I woke up to Kane’s soft kisses brushing over my skin, gentle and warm, sending shivers down my spine. His lips moved slowly, from my shoulder to my neck, trailing up to my jawline, each kiss making my heart race. A smile crept onto my face before I even opened my eyes, the sensation filling me with a giddy excitement, like we had just discovered our love for the first time.“Kane…” I murmured sleepily, turning to face him. The sight of him, his dark eyes filled with warmth and affection, made me catch my breath. My twin flame. The other half of my soul. It was still hard to believe that the goddess had united us in this way, that our bond went so much deeper than I had ever imagined.“Morning, love,” he whispered, his voice low and husky. “I couldn’t help myself. You were just too tempting.”I laughed softly, brushing my fingers through his hair. “You’re the tempting one.”His gaze grew more intense, and for a moment, I was lost in it, in him. • A Luna of fire   Twin flames

Kane’s POVAs I stood in the grand hall, watching Avery make her entrance, I couldn’t help but feel immense pride. She was breathtaking, draped in an elegant gown that shimmered under the lights. Her presence commanded the attention of everyone in the room, and I knew that choosing her as my queen was the best decision I’d ever made. When I announced our engagement, the pride I felt was overwhelming. Most of the pack had reacted with awe and admiration for her. Though I noticed a few disapproving glances, they were drowned out by the applause and the stream of congratulations. My chest swelled with satisfaction. Avery wasn’t just my choice; she was proving herself to be the people’s choice as well. And why wouldn’t they see her value? She was intelligent, compassionate, and stronger than most could imagine. She’d already done so much for the northern lands. From the moment she stepped up to help with the blight, the people saw her not just as their future Luna but as a beacon of ho

  • A Luna of fire   In Dorian’s mind

Dorian’s POV I rolled my eyes as I glanced out the window. Outside, a group of women were gathered in the garden, chattering away, fluttering around my estate as if they were the mistresses of the house. They were dressed in their finest, giggling and casting glances toward my home, hoping I'd notice them. I didn’t.I ignored their attempts to get my attention because they were nothing more than pawns. The only reason I kept them around was because their families were powerful. Greedy nobles, all of them, hungry for status and favor. If I let them believe that, when I became king, I might marry one of their daughters, then they’d remain loyal. And I needed their loyalty, even if it was built on lies. But that wasn’t going to happen. Marriage? To one of them? No. I only wanted one woman. The woman who had consumed my every thought, every breath, since the day I laid eyes on her.Avery.She was the reason I was willing to start this war. Yes, there were other reasons. Things I h

How do you know?”Yea I thought, because I and Marie were itching to know too.Katherine chuckled softly. “As a Luna, I have helped dozens of women give birth, dear. I know the signs. I’m surprised you haven’t noticed it yourself.”Brianne looked at us, panic and disbelief in her eyes. “I… I need to take a test. I need to be sure.” I nodded immediately “Let’s do it now,” Marie suggested, her voice calm but excited. “We’ll all wait with you.”We followed Brianne to her room, where she shakily took the test. The minutes seemed to drag on forever as we waited. Finally, Marie checked the result and broke into a huge grin.“Brianne… you’re pregnant!”The room erupted in laughter, tears, and congratulations. Brianne burst into tears, she clearly felt both joy and fear in that moment.“I always wanted children,” she sobbed. “But Ron… h

. Avery’s POV “What…what happened?” Brianne’s voice trembled with shock, and I could only shake my head. I didn’t have an answer. But one thing was clear—I had done that. Somehow, I had cured that small patch of land from the Blight, just like Kane always said i would. “We need to get back to Kane,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “He needs to know about this.” The ride back to the castle was a blur. My mind raced with possibilities. If I could heal the land, if my power could dispel the blight, then maybe…maybe we really actually have a chance. Maybe this wasn’t the end. When we arrived, I rushed to Kane’s office, my heart pounding in my chest. Lucian was with him, and as soon as I explained what had happened, they both looked at me with a mixture of shock and hope. “Holy shit! You’re truly ARE the cure,” Lucian said, his voice filled with awe. “You really are the key to stopping this.” He said it like he was only finally believing it after all this time, I cou

Avery’s POV He sighed heavily, rubbing his temples before meeting my gaze. “It’s the annual Northern Harvest Festival. With the blight wreaking havoc, we’re facing a dire situation. The crops and animals are suffering. It’s going to be impossible to hold the festival this year. People are too hungry and exhausted to celebrate.”I nodded, recalling from the books his mother forced on me how crucial these festivals were. They weren’t just about celebration—they were a beacon of hope, a chance for the people to come together and see that their leaders cared. Without it, morale could sink, and faith in Kane’s leadership might wane.“I understand why you’re worried,” I said softly. “Festivals like this are more than just traditions. They’re vital for keeping the people’s spirits up. If we skip it, it might send the wrong message—that we’re not doing enough to help them.”Kane looked at me with gratitude for understanding where he was coming from. But then he became frustrated. “I know
