Before there was Selene, the goddess of werewolves, there was Hestia --the goddess of warmth and fire.

**Avery’s Pov

Most women say that when your husband is cheating on you, you will know immediately. But in my case, I didn’t find out until it was too late.

It was evening and my pack had just finished celebrating the end of a lunar eclipse in our house.

Everyone had been partying, and i watched with pride as my husband graced everyone with his beautiful smile and enchanting eyes.

It was the same smile that stole my heart 3 years ago and made it impossible to refuse when he asked me to marry him just a few weeks later.

Of course I was worried that we were rushing things plus there was the fact that i was a mere commoner with no noble blood, and to make matters worse..... I had a disability.

I couldn’t shift into my wolf form... and that was a big disgrace to werewolves.

But James didn’t care, he had sworn by the heavens and the earth that he was hopelessly in love with me, and he would do anything to have me as quickly as possible.

How could I say no to that? How could I say no to a handsome, powerful young Alpha who was humble enough to choose me— a weak, forgettable commoner as his mate?

I was nothing special at all. In fact, I wasn’t half as pretty or as powerful as all the noble women who were constantly throwing themselves at him. But James only had eyes for me. He loved me for me, and I loved him too.

We wedded immediately and it was the best day of my life. The only down side was that my beloved baby sister Lizzy who was studying abroad couldn’t make it to the wedding. I missed her dearly.

But besides that, everything was perfect. I married the love of my life, Alpha James.

The lunar eclipse celebration was coming to a close and James went upstairs to change while I stayed back to supervise the festivities for a while.

Logan, one of our youngest warriors approached me with a bow.

“Good evening Luna, Miss Elizabeth has been looking for you.” He announced.

I blinked twice. “Miss Elizabeth? Lizzy? My sister?”

“Yes Ma’am.”

I told him he was mistaken because lizzy was in school and wasn’t returning till next year.

But Logan was adamant. “I’m sure ma’am perhaps she was planning to surprise you.”

I couldn’t believe my ears! Lizzy was here? She had finally returned to me?!

My Lizzy was just 19, born of noble blood, and even though I was older than her with just 5 years, it felt like she was my baby, because I practically helped raise her.

“Where is she?!” I practically screeched at the poor boy who quickly pointed upstairs to my bedroom.

I rushed past him, taking the stairs three at a time. I would have flown if I could. That’s how badly I missed Lizzy.

I was practically panting when I finally got upstairs, and then I suddenly heard a strange noise that made me pause.

It was the sound of a woman Moaning.

I froze for a moment as my brain struggled to process what I was hearing. Was this a mistake? Was I at the right place?

I felt a sudden sharp burn on my neck, where mate’s mark was but I ignored it.

I slowly pushed the door open and I immediately regretted ever doing that.

Because in front of me, on my own bed, was my sister Lizzy, lying with her clothes ripped, and my husband lying shirtless between her legs.

He was hungrily kissing her neck while passionately grinding his hips against her.

I watched in horror as my sister continued to moan with closed eyes as she rubbed her hips against his. She was clawing his back and trying to pull off his pants, clearly eager for more.

I wanted to puke. I wanted to puke and die. This couldn’t be happening. This couldn’t be real!

The dizziness and the burning sensation came back with a vengeance and I slumped against the open door, making it slam the wall with a loud bang.

The sound shocked them and I watched James jump away from her like he had been burned with hot coal.

Lizzy quickly got up and scrambled to close her torn dress. But I thought I saw the hint of a smile on her lips.

“Avery…” James gasped but I held my hand up to shut him up. Tears were already pouring down my face as the reality of what I had just seen began to hit me.

“What the fuck James?! Why?! Why would you do this to me?” I cried.

“Avery.... baby, I can explain, it’s not what it looks like—-“ He said, trying to hold my hands but I shoved him away.

“It’s not what it looks like?! So I didn’t just catch you trying to fuck my own sister?! On our bed?!” I furiously wiped my tears away and glared at him.

James just bowed his head. There was shame and guilt written all over his face.

“I’m so sorry Avery… it wasn’t supposed to happen this way, please believe me. It wasn’t our fault.”

I barked out a dry laugh. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“It’s not your fault? So is it mine then? I didn’t see anyone forcing you with a knife to your neck so what the hell are you talking about James?!”

“Avery… Lizzy is… I and Lizzy are—“ James stammered.

“James and I are fated mates sister.” Lizzy’s finally spoke, coming to stand behind my husband. “Your husband is my fated mate.”

I felt my heart stop and my blood run cold. Mates? What was she talking about?

I looked at James in confusion and he slowly nodded. “It’s true Avery, your sister is my mate. She came here looking for you, and when I saw her, I just knew immediately. I tried to leave but my wolf overwhelmed me. I’m so sorry Avery.”

The dizziness got worse and I crashed painfully to the floor. What was happening? Was this some sort of cruel joke? I didn’t know, I couldn’t answer, my head was spinning too fast to think clearly.

“Avery." James moved forward like he wanted to pick me up but Lizzy grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

Seeing her hand on him made me finally burst into tears. This wasn’t a nightmare, this was really happening. My husband had found his fated mate, and she was my baby sister.

I tried to force the tears away and collect myself. I couldn’t sit crying on the floor, I was the fucking Luna of the spring pack for heaven’s sake!

I wiped my tears away and slowly got up to my feet, then I looked at James dead in the eyes.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Reject her.” I said coldly.

I have a heart condition remember? If you reject me, I won’t be able to handle it, I’ll die! Please tell him sister.” Lizzy begged, looking at me with tears in her eyes. It was true, one of the reasons that I and Lizzy had grown very close was because she was diagnosed with a heart condition when she was 5. Luckily we managed to keep her healthy but she had always been fragile. We were always worried that too much shock or stress would kill her so we did everything and gave her everything to make her always comfortable. But now she wanted my husband too? No! I couldn’t give her that. “Avery please.” James begged

  • A Luna of fire   Marie’s Picnic

Avery's POV When I awoke, James had already left. Usually he’d wake me up with kisses when he was about to leave but I guess he must have forgotten to do so today. I wonder why. I tried not to let it get to me as I got ready for the day. I picked up my phone just to see a notification of almost 200 messages and about 50 missed calls. I didn’t need to open them to know what they were about. I guess the news about my husband in bed with my sister had already spread around. I sighed and put down my phone. I still couldn’t believe that this wasn’t just a horrible nightmare. Just yesterday morning, I was a happily married woman, but today?..... I don’t even know if the man who married me still really wants me. I tried to drown out these negative thoughts in the bath, but just like yesterday, the water was overheated and I didn’t realize it until my shampoo bottle started contorting and crumbling under the heat. I quickly shut the water off, mildly wondering how I hadn’t me

Avery’s POV “Sister.” She acknowledged with a sad smile. For a moment I was at loss for words. Her big blue eyes were staring at me with warmth and guilt. She looked tired and I could see dark circles around her eyes too. She’d obviously been crying but she hadn’t tried to hide the evidence like I had. A confusing mix of emotions swirled around in my brain. Yes, I was definitely mad at her for endangering my marriage, but at the same time I felt a little sad for our pure relationship that had now been ruined. After all, Lizzy never chose to be fated to James. No, I had the moon goddess to thank for that. Lizzy had simply done what most women would do when meeting their fated mates. And looking at her now, I could see that she obviously felt bad for her actions. So how could I blame her for something that was out of her control? I still wanted to punch her though. “I am so sorry sister.” Lizzy began. “I never ever meant to — I didn’t want to—- I’m so so sorry Avery.” She s

Avery’s POV I didn’t see the dark haired man when we finally entered the hall. But that wasn’t surprising because it was a very large hall, holding almost two thousand people. The spring pack was the largest, most prosperous and most advanced pack in the west, so the east and the south all gathered here for meetings. Every important person of power was here. The Alphas, noblemen, and finally the panel of elders. Alphas ruled the packs but these twelve elders of the Council where the rulers of Alphas. The meeting began with the most urgent and most important topic. The topic of “The Blight.” The Blight was a deadly pandemic, a rotten infestation that was slowly consuming and destroying everything it touched for decades now. From livestock, to plants and finally pack members. Nothing and no one was safe from it. The good thing was that it was very slow to spread and only the spring pack seemed to be immune to it for some unknown reason. The council finally came to

Avery’s POV This became our routine for the next few weeks. During the day, James would yell at Lizzy and she would cry and snap at him. Then at night, James would kiss me goodnight, then when he thought I was asleep, he would sneak out to her room and return very early in the morning. Sometimes, it was almost funny to watch them pretend to hate eachother. Who where they putting up the fake act for? To fool me? Or to make themselves feel better. In these two weeks, James did not make love to me even once. In the past, we made love several times a week and James seemed to not be able to get enough of me. But since Lizzy moved in, he barely remembered to properly kiss me at all. I also began to see him less and less. He used to randomly check on my work with the pack during the day, but now I barely heard from him at all until we were going to sleep. Lizzy on the other hand seemed more bubbly than ever. She was always laughing and trying to redecorate my home when she p

  • A Luna of fire   Alpha Kane

Avery POV It took Elder Novak quite a while to finally get the hall to settle down. It was obvious that everyone one hated the King of the north, or as he was called, the barbarian of the North. Alpha Kane was a greedy tyrant that suddenly began to attack and seize all surrounding packs until he completely claimed the whole northern region and declared himself king of the whole north. The north central was the only defense separating him from the rest of us, but he had now destroyed it too. There was nothing stopping him from attacking us now. “Please settle down, we haven’t even gotten to the worst of it yet.” Elder Novak revealed. “Alpha Kane sent us a letter last night. He has explicitly refused to help us provide food to the victims of the blight, not only that, he has formally issued a threat to us. He says that if we attempt to cross his territory again, he will not hesitate to slaughter each and every one of us.” The hall burst out in shouts of indignation. “How da

Avery My face betrayed no emotion as James continued. “Since she’s pregnant, I have to marry her, or else the child would be a bastard.” He explained. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. Lizzy was pregnant? He got her pregnant after years of refusing to have a child with me? “I thought you weren’t ready to have kids. When I told you I wanted to start a family, you refused because you weren’t ready. Now you want kids with her?!” James closed his eyes as the look of guilt covered his face. “I didn’t mean for it to happen Avery. We some how got lost in the moment and it just ...happened. Please believe me, I wanted to start a family with both of you in the future, maybe next year. Not now.” He explained and I burst out laughing. “So let me get this straight, you were planning to get i and my sister pregnant at the same time?!” I yelled and he froze. This was hilarious to me. Avery’s POV He stepped back to admire his handiwork, his eyes raking over me with a predatory hunger that made my breath hitch. I pulled experimentally at the restraints, but they held firm. I was at his mercy now, and the realization sent a wave of heat straight to my core. “Comfortable?” he asked, his tone mocking as he moved back toward the bed. I gave him a defiant look. “You’re enjoying this too much.” “And you’re enjoying pretending you’re not,” he shot back, climbing onto the bed and positioning himself above me. His hands roamed over my body, lingering on the places he knew drove me crazy, teasing me with just the right amount of pressure to make me squirm. “Maybe I am,” I admitted, my voice breathy as I felt his hands slide lower. “But that doesn’t mean I’m going to make it easy for you.” Kane’s eyes darkened with desire as he leaned in closer, his lips brushing against mine. “Oh, I don’t want easy. A smile crept onto my face before I even opened my eyes, the sensation filling me with a giddy excitement, like we had just discovered our love for the first time.“Kane…” I murmured sleepily, turning to face him. The sight of him, his dark eyes filled with warmth and affection, made me catch my breath. My twin flame. The other half of my soul. It was still hard to believe that the goddess had united us in this way, that our bond went so much deeper than I had ever imagined.“Morning, love,” he whispered, his voice low and husky. “I couldn’t help myself. Kane’s POVAs I stood in the grand hall, watching Avery make her entrance, I couldn’t help but feel immense pride. She was breathtaking, draped in an elegant gown that shimmered under the lights. Her presence commanded the attention of everyone in the room, and I knew that choosing her as my queen was the best decision I’d ever made. When I announced our engagement, the pride I felt was overwhelming. Most of the pack had reacted with awe and admiration for her. Though I noticed a few disapproving glances, they were drowned out by the applause and the stream of congratulations. My chest swelled with satisfaction. Avery wasn’t just my choice; she was proving herself to be the people’s choice as well. And why wouldn’t they see her value? She was intelligent, compassionate, and stronger than most could imagine. She’d already done so much for the northern lands. From the moment she stepped up to help with the blight, the people saw her not just as their future Luna but as a beacon of ho

They were dressed in their finest, giggling and casting glances toward my home, hoping I'd notice them. And I needed their loyalty, even if it was built on lies. But that wasn’t going to happen. Marriage? To one of them? No. I only wanted one woman. People are too hungry and exhausted to celebrate.”I nodded, recalling from the books his mother forced on me how crucial these festivals were. They weren’t just about celebration—they were a beacon of hope, a chance for the people to come together and see that their leaders cared. Without it, morale could sink, and faith in Kane’s leadership might wane.“I understand why you’re worried,” I said softly. “Festivals like this are more than just traditions. They’re vital for keeping the people’s spirits up. If we skip it, it might send the wrong message—that we’re not doing enough to help them.”Kane looked at me with gratitude for understanding where he was coming from. But then he became frustrated. “I know
