Selena
“I guess it is settled then, Luna Selena stays.” Logan said as soon as he was done counting the number of hands that was raised. Out of all the twenty-four men on the table, twenty-one voted for me to leave, and twenty-three voted for me to stay. Lucian had only lost by one vote. “This doesn’t change anything. She must leave this house immediately.” Brinny snarled at me as she slammed her palm on the table, but I wasn’t even bothered by her reaction. “Staying doesn’t change how I see you, Selena. It would only make it worse. I would never see you as my Luna, and I promise to make your life a living hell until you walk out on your own two feet.” Lucian threatened while the pregnant woman beside him that I had heard him refer to as Cindy clung onto his arm with a grin on her face. Seeing them like that in front of me, tore at my heart, it made me ache with pain, but I took a deep breath and masked my emotions. “I am not afraid of you, Lucian, and I do not care what you decide to do with her. The only reason I am staying is because of how much I care about this pack…” “Liar!” Brinny yelled at me, “the only reason you’re staying is because you want a chance to harm our heir and claw your way back into my son’s life but I can assure you that it won’t work.” “Think twice about this, Selena, because this would be the last time I would ask you to leave nicely.” He said with a gruff tone as he rose to his feet and helped Cindy up. “I am not going to let you kick me out of everything I had worked so hard for so you can as well continue dreaming that I would walk out of here on my own.” I responded, and he pinned me with a harsh stare. He was clearly pissed at my response, but he didn’t say anything. Instead, he walked out with Cindy and Brinny. Slowly, everyone one else exited the hall, including Katherine, and I had assumed Logan had left too, so I rested my head gently against my folded elbows and broke down in tears. I sobbed so hard for a while that I didn’t notice I wasn’t alone until I felt someone’s hand on my back. I was startled and looked up sharply to find Logan staring down at my face with a small frown creasing his brows. “Don’t let whatever they said get to you, Selena. I know you’re a very strong woman, Lucian knows that too. He knows he can not just kick you out if he wishes to.” “Am I that bad, Logan?” I suddenly asked, amidst sobs. He seemed taken aback by the question and stammered slightly while he struggled to produce a response. “N-no Selena, you’re not bad at all and do not for one second think that you’re the reason he brought home another woman, if Lucian does not realize the kind of jewel he has found in place of a Luna then that is his fault, not yours.” He responded with a very soft voice that made me blink back the tears that threatened to spill down my face in torrents. “Come on, you need to rest, I would take you back to your room to get some rest.” He volunteered as he rose to his feet and helped me up. Silently, he led me to my room, and just before we got to the door, I paused and looked up at him, “About what Brinny said earlier…I am so sorry you had to get dragged into this. Lucian might want to punish you based on these false allegations, but I promise to…” “I am not scared of Lucian.” He said with a very firm tone and an intense gaze that left me speechless. His eyes held mine with such intensity that I dared not look away, I was lost in the depths of his eyes for a few seconds and when it began to feel like I was being pulled into its depth without any idea how deep it was, I got scared and looked away quickly. The whole experience left goosebumps on my skin and I wanted to get away from the whole thing and hide but before I could walk away, he stepped in front of me and was about to say something when we heard something crash loudly against the floor, We both turned towards the direction of the noise, and it sounded like it had come from my room. Almost immediately, we rushed to the door, and I was surprised to meet the door wide open and my things all over the place. The entire room was a mess. I walked in with a shocked expression on my face as I scanned the whole mess. It was as if someone had ransacked the whole place, and my flower vase lay shattered on the floor. That was a gift from Logan on my birthday, and I had cherished it. I was about to start picking up my things when the sound of someone crying caught my attention and I looked up to find Cindy seated on my favorite couch crying her eyes out while Lucian sat by her side, trying his best to comfort her. He looked really pathetic, trying to stop her from crying hysterically, and it stung me because he had never done that for me. In the few hours that he had returned home with her, he had done more than he ever did for me in all our years being married. The tears sprang to my eyes again, but I fought them back and clenched the cloth in my hand tightly. “What are you doing in here, and why is my room like this?” I managed to ask before I tried to force down the ache in my chest. No one responded. Logan was now standing directly behind me, and it wasn’t until he stepped beside me before I noticed my personal maid at the far corner of the room, close to the bed. She was whimpering and trying to pin herself so close to the wall that it would make it impossible for her to be noticed. I frowned at the sight. Everything was odd. She was a maid that had moved here with me when I got married to Lucian, she was my maid at home and to show her loyalty she moved here with me even when she didn’t have to so I really cared about her because I knew it must have been hard for her to adjust in a foreign pack house but she did so without complaining. I moved closer to her, and my eyes widened in shock when I noticed how red her cheek was. In horror, I rushed over to her side and held her face in my hand, she winced in pain and when I caught sight of the finger marks on her face, I knew immediately that someone had slapped her. “Who did this to you?” I asked, anger rising within me. “It’s nothing, Luna Selena. It was just a misunderstanding.” “I said who did this to you?” I asked again with a very different tone, and she was compelled to provide a response. “They wanted your room and when I told them that she couldn’t have it due to the fact that you had been specific about this place and originally this was the Luna’s room, Alpha Lucian got upset and he…he….” She wasn’t even able to complete the sentence out of fear, but I knew exactly what she was about to say. “He hit you.” I added, and she nodded. Without a second thought, I walked right back to where Lucian was still seated with his arms around Cindy and the moment he glanced up at me, I landed a heavy slap on his face, enough to leave my finger prints behind, just like the one imprinted on my maid’s cheek. Cindy gasped in shock, and Lucian nostrils flared angrily, but I didn’t back down, I glared back at him in anger. “You have no right at all to hit my maid because of her.” I growled, and Lucian rose to his feet sharply, his body towering above mine. He was tall and intimidating enough to remind me what his position was, but I’ll be damned if I let him treat her like that.SelenaHe gritted his teeth angrily and his fist was clenched so tightly by his side that it was obvious he was trying to hold himself back from hitting me.Regardless of how Lucian treated me, he knew better than to lay a finger on me. My pack was a like a backbone to his pack and if my father got upset and pulled back his support, things could change for the worse. No matter how hard he tried to pretend like that wasn’t a fact, he knew it deep down and acted accordingly. He stared at me in silence for a few seconds before he reached out to grab my neck but I was quick to step away from his reach.“How dare you!” He growled in anger as his brows furrowed, he was so angry that his eyes shifted from their original form to his wolf’s blue ones, “so just because I have been away for a while you’ve grown wings.”“This isn’t about growing wings Lucian, this is about respecting my boundaries as much as I respect yours.”I shot back with confidence.I had no idea where my confidence was comi
Selena.“It doesn’t matter who I am staying for Logan. What matters is the pack.” I stated as I rose to my feet, knowing fully well that his attention was still on me.It was awkward and might have been embarrassing for him, but this wasn’t the time for me to start talking about another relationship with someone else. Lucian had hurt me badly enough. My life and marriage with him had inflicted a wound that was still wide open and hurting me so badly that I could barely think of another man.Logan wasn’t bad at all, but him and I wasn’t going to work out, not with everything going on. He deserved someone better.“Selena I didn’t mean to…” he began, but when I noticed the direction he was hinting at again, I decided to quickly change the topic entirely.“The recent attacks,” I blurted out, and he paused, “they have been becoming a bit of a situation these days. What do you suggest we do about it?” I inquired, and he sighed heavily in defeat.“Are you sure you want to talk about stuff li
Chapter Seven.Selena.“He is back.” Logan announced as he strolled into my study late that night. The study once belonged to Lucian, but after his return, he had ordered for another to be redesigned to suit his taste, and that was done. Not wanting to request another study, I decided to move into his old one and continue my task as the Luna, unbothered about what Lucian was up to.At least, until Logan started bringing me the details of what was going on.“Once again, he defeated the enemy’s army and has recovered more territories than the battalion we sent there ever did.” He added, and I sighed heavily as I dropped the document in my hands.“His success is my success, Logan. we are in the same pack, and I do not…”“Enough with the pretense Selena, I know how you feel and we both know that soon enough, the pack members and council members would not be able to deny him the right to do as he wishes when he tries to kick you out.” Logan replied, a hint of anger in his voice.I knew he
Selena.“Six years of marriage and still not a single child from Selena.” My mother in law Brinny snapped at me in front of the entire council, “a true Luna should know that without bringing forth an heir, she has failed her pack and her husband.”The entire room fell silent because they knew not to say a word to aggravate her whenever she started this conversation.“But how can she have a child when Lucian is away most of the time?” Katherine, my sister in law and favorite human in the pack house, tried to defend me, but her mother shut her up almost immediately.“Maybe if she found a way to make him stay back like a real wife should, maybe he wouldn’t have left. Maybe if she tried to capture his heart rather than focusing on matters that should be handled by the Alpha, she would have given us an heir by now.”Whispers and murmurs broke out among the council members who were mostly family of my husband, Lucian. I could tell from the look on their faces that they were panicking but un
Selena“Thank the goddess, finally an heir for my son.” Brinny cried out excitedly as she rushed over to the girl beside Lucian without even trying to confirm who she was and how she got pregnant.“You’ve done well Son,” she carressed Lucian softly before she turned to the girl and held her stomach, “this child is the future of this pack so from now on, everyone must accord you and this child with the respect you deserve.”“A true Luna indeed, unlike some barren ones that sit with their head so high up in the cloud that they can no longer get pregnant again,” she shot back at me.I remained rooted to my spot, staring right at Lucian without moving. Every single, hurtful word the Luna said didn’t get past me, and when I tried to move, I staggered and almost fell flat on my face if Logan had not helped me up.“Lucian…” I whispered his name softly as Logan helped me back down on the throne. Every single eye was now on me, I could tell they were all expecting a reaction from me while Brin
Selena“Step aside.” Lucian barked angrily at Logan, but Logan simply refused to budge. It was surprising that he could stand up against Lucian like that when he was the beta.“So mother was right after all, you’ve been whoring around with him and everyone else while I was gone right?” He glared at me above Logan’s shoulder.“How could you even think of hurting an unborn child? How evil can you be Selena? How much hatred can you have in your heart to be able to do that? All that negative energy is the reason your womb is still blocked.” He added angrily and reached out to hit me but Logan shoved him backwards.“That’s your Luna Lucian. Think before you act.” Logan growled but Lucian simply ignored him.“I didn’t do it, I didn’t ev-even touch her. I was about to leave when she fell on her own, why would you even think that I would be able to do that?” I asked, unable to stop the tears that was still rolling down my cheeks. The woman that caused all this commotion was still sprawled out
