Selena

“I guess it is settled then, Luna Selena stays.” Logan said as soon as he was done counting the number of hands that was raised.

Out of all the twenty-four men on the table, twenty-one voted for me to leave, and twenty-three voted for me to stay. Lucian had only lost by one vote.

“This doesn’t change anything. She must leave this house immediately.” Brinny snarled at me as she slammed her palm on the table, but I wasn’t even bothered by her reaction.

“Staying doesn’t change how I see you, Selena. It would only make it worse. I would never see you as my Luna, and I promise to make your life a living hell until you walk out on your own two feet.” Lucian threatened while the pregnant woman beside him that I had heard him refer to as Cindy clung onto his arm with a grin on her face.

Seeing them like that in front of me, tore at my heart, it made me ache with pain, but I took a deep breath and masked my emotions.

“I am not afraid of you, Lucian, and I do not care what you decide to do with her. The only reason I am staying is because of how much I care about this pack…”

“Liar!” Brinny yelled at me, “the only reason you’re staying is because you want a chance to harm our heir and claw your way back into my son’s life but I can assure you that it won’t work.”

“Think twice about this, Selena, because this would be the last time I would ask you to leave nicely.” He said with a gruff tone as he rose to his feet and helped Cindy up.

“I am not going to let you kick me out of everything I had worked so hard for so you can as well continue dreaming that I would walk out of here on my own.” I responded, and he pinned me with a harsh stare.

He was clearly pissed at my response, but he didn’t say anything. Instead, he walked out with Cindy and Brinny. Slowly, everyone one else exited the hall, including Katherine, and I had assumed Logan had left too, so I rested my head gently against my folded elbows and broke down in tears.

I sobbed so hard for a while that I didn’t notice I wasn’t alone until I felt someone’s hand on my back. I was startled and looked up sharply to find Logan staring down at my face with a small frown creasing his brows.

“Don’t let whatever they said get to you, Selena. I know you’re a very strong woman, Lucian knows that too. He knows he can not just kick you out if he wishes to.”

“Am I that bad, Logan?” I suddenly asked, amidst sobs. He seemed taken aback by the question and stammered slightly while he struggled to produce a response.

“N-no Selena, you’re not bad at all and do not for one second think that you’re the reason he brought home another woman, if Lucian does not realize the kind of jewel he has found in place of a Luna then that is his fault, not yours.” He responded with a very soft voice that made me blink back the tears that threatened to spill down my face in torrents.

“Come on, you need to rest, I would take you back to your room to get some rest.” He volunteered as he rose to his feet and helped me up.

Silently, he led me to my room, and just before we got to the door, I paused and looked up at him,

“About what Brinny said earlier…I am so sorry you had to get dragged into this. Lucian might want to punish you based on these false allegations, but I promise to…”

“I am not scared of Lucian.” He said with a very firm tone and an intense gaze that left me speechless.

His eyes held mine with such intensity that I dared not look away, I was lost in the depths of his eyes for a few seconds and when it began to feel like I was being pulled into its depth without any idea how deep it was, I got scared and looked away quickly.

The whole experience left goosebumps on my skin and I wanted to get away from the whole thing and hide but before I could walk away, he stepped in front of me and was about to say something when we heard something crash loudly against the floor,

We both turned towards the direction of the noise, and it sounded like it had come from my room.

Almost immediately, we rushed to the door, and I was surprised to meet the door wide open and my things all over the place.

The entire room was a mess.

I walked in with a shocked expression on my face as I scanned the whole mess. It was as if someone had ransacked the whole place, and my flower vase lay shattered on the floor.

That was a gift from Logan on my birthday, and I had cherished it.

I was about to start picking up my things when the sound of someone crying caught my attention and I looked up to find Cindy seated on my favorite couch crying her eyes out while Lucian sat by her side, trying his best to comfort her.

He looked really pathetic, trying to stop her from crying hysterically, and it stung me because he had never done that for me. In the few hours that he had returned home with her, he had done more than he ever did for me in all our years being married.

The tears sprang to my eyes again, but I fought them back and clenched the cloth in my hand tightly.

“What are you doing in here, and why is my room like this?” I managed to ask before I tried to force down the ache in my chest.

No one responded. Logan was now standing directly behind me, and it wasn’t until he stepped beside me before I noticed my personal maid at the far corner of the room, close to the bed.

She was whimpering and trying to pin herself so close to the wall that it would make it impossible for her to be noticed.

I frowned at the sight. Everything was odd. She was a maid that had moved here with me when I got married to Lucian, she was my maid at home and to show her loyalty she moved here with me even when she didn’t have to so I really cared about her because I knew it must have been hard for her to adjust in a foreign pack house but she did so without complaining.

I moved closer to her, and my eyes widened in shock when I noticed how red her cheek was. In horror, I rushed over to her side and held her face in my hand, she winced in pain and when I caught sight of the finger marks on her face, I knew immediately that someone had slapped her.

“Who did this to you?” I asked, anger rising within me.

“It’s nothing, Luna Selena. It was just a misunderstanding.”

“I said who did this to you?” I asked again with a very different tone, and she was compelled to provide a response.

“They wanted your room and when I told them that she couldn’t have it due to the fact that you had been specific about this place and originally this was the Luna’s room, Alpha Lucian got upset and he…he….”

She wasn’t even able to complete the sentence out of fear, but I knew exactly what she was about to say.

“He hit you.” I added, and she nodded.

Without a second thought, I walked right back to where Lucian was still seated with his arms around Cindy and the moment he glanced up at me, I landed a heavy slap on his face, enough to leave my finger prints behind, just like the one imprinted on my maid’s cheek.

Cindy gasped in shock, and Lucian nostrils flared angrily, but I didn’t back down, I glared back at him in anger.

“You have no right at all to hit my maid because of her.” I growled, and Lucian rose to his feet sharply, his body towering above mine. He was tall and intimidating enough to remind me what his position was, but I’ll be damned if I let him treat her like that.
