Ricky’s POV
I could sense some ugly news coming and I didn’t even have it in me to be angry. We had messed up greatly and despite my positive outlook, I knew that there was a possibility that we might not be able to fix the problem at hand.
Five years was a long time to let things remain dormant and unless a silver lining appeared in the sky, there wasn’t much we could do as things stood.
“What do you mean, father?” I asked, feeling tense as I could sense the pressure hovering above us getting heavier than it had been at the start.
“I’m not rooting for you boys to fail but in the face of impending doom, I need to have a second option to prot
Ricky’s POVI understood their hurt but it wasn’t going to change anything.Knowing our father, his plan was already set in motion. It had already been before he decided to let us in on it and there was nothing we could do about it.“We’re running out of options already,” Cole replied. “Heck, what’s left for us to do is to make it a case of national emergency asking every eligible female to come over for inspection. We can go through every one of them till we find our next mate.”“There isn’t much time left and we all know it.” Cole said. “We need to come up with something and even if it’s the most desperate thing ever, as long as it works,
Ricky’s POV“We’re going to have to do a lot of convincing to bring her back here.”“No shit, Sherlock.” Cole sighed. “Anything else we have to check out?”“Yes,” I replied and for the first time, I doubted if this would work.“What’s it, Ricky? You sound worried.” Jules sounded concerned as he moved closer to me.“What are we going to tell father when he asks why she came back?”The room
Ricky’s POVOne week laterThe news took the wind out of me and I stood in utter shock and disbelief for over an hour, trying to process what I had just heard. I was struggling to wrap my head around how it could’ve happened and I couldn’t.None of it made any sense to me.Alpha Robin died in his sleep last night.I shut my eyes, trying to keep the tears at bay. There was a lot of work to be done and I had to keep my grieving for a later time.My brothers were disoriented and I couldn’t blame them. None of us had seen this coming from a mile away. The d
Ricky’s POVThey agreed with what I had just said and I knew that it was going to make this job a whole lot easier for all of us involved. “Do you think that’s all father said to them?” Jules asked as we sat at the table to decide on the next step to take. I paused for a moment, digesting his question. “I don’t think so. “Father always has a backup plan, always.” “Do you have any idea what it might be?” Cole asked. “I don’t and to be honest with you, I have no intentions of finding out. That's why it’s paramount that we make this plan worthwhile. Everything depends on it.”***Three days ago, our father had invited my brothers and me into his room. He sent away his servants and guards, he wanted to speak to us in private, and from the look on his face, I was already worried.“The doctor says he’s expecting you to make a miraculous breakthrough any moment from now and when that happens, your healing process will be sped up,” I said, trying to give him a bit of good news to cheer hi
Ricky’s POVIt’s been three days since my brothers thought I had gone mad but after we talked about it at length, they realized that our backs were against the wall and we couldn’t just give up without trying everything we possibly could to salvage our current predicament. It hadn't been easy to convince them but they eventually made up their minds to give my crazy plan a shot and we started by writing letters to the Alphas of wealthy packs whom we’ve had relations with ever since the time of my grandfather.I was expecting to receive their response today and I was quite positive about getting a couple of good responses. My offer was very decent and if I were in their shoes, I would grab the opportunity with both hands but I wasn&rsq
Ricky’s POV“Have we gotten any response yet?” Jules asked as he walked into the office.I dropped the sheet of paper in my hand as I turned my attention towards him. Before I could answer, Cole came running through the door.“We finally got it.” He yelled.I nearly flew out of my chair. “You’re serious?”Cole handed the letter to me and I read it hurriedly.Whoever she was, she had summoned us to her pack and she wanted to finance us as well. But she wanted to d
Ricky’s POV“What about the dream I had, Ricky?” Jules said. “I dreamt that we all died and you’re not taking it seriously.”Everyone fell silent absorbing Jules’s words. I glanced at his face, I could see the raw emotion on it. He wasn’t teasing, he meant every word he had said.I had never seen him this frightened over a dream, we were used to his occasional dreams which we often joked about as future proclamations as they often came to pass but he had never been so absorbed in any of them the way he was now.If he thought I was going to take his dream literally, he was wrong. I had no plans of dying away from home.
Ricky’s POVI could barely sleep after I dismissed everyone after the little discussion we had in the corridor over an hour ago. I spent the rest of the morning alternating between taking short naps and spending my hours awake staring at the darkness and thinking about possible scenarios on how the meeting would play out and the common theme of all of my thoughts ended in disarray. Also, I couldn’t stop thinking about what Cole had said, if we were in their shoes, we would have taken them out immediately after they settled in and that would’ve been done by now already. But that would be only true if we didn’t mean what we said by wanting to help but we’ve been here in their territory for a couple of hours and they haven’t come to ambush us.
