DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW

Mother and I walked freely through the streets of Bali. A warm smile graced my lips. It feels good to be out, to have the sun on my face, and to be able to inhale the warm breeze.

Mom and I were headed to my job interview. She and Grandma Amelia had been able to secure a job for me at a café, and although Grandma wanted to be there for the interview session, the potato farm called her away.

Mom had also gotten a job working as a cleaner for some rich family. I guess old habits die hard. She seems happy to work her job and, I might add, she gets paid twice as much as Daniel's family used to pay us, not forgetting the occasional tips and gifts she usually brings home.

The owner of the mansion is a good friend of Grandma's, and that's how Mom got the job; the kindness she receives is due to the friendship they have with Grandma, but my mom never takes it for granted.

I would have loved to work there under such favorable conditions, but the working hours and

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW As we approached the café, my heart swelled with sadness and my mind raced with disorganized thoughts, and I wondered how I was going to ace the interview. I pray I don't lose the job. With each breath, I inhaled deeply, and Mom's hand tightened around mine, reassuring me without a word. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them and my mind drifted back to the day Daniel proposed. It was a lovely Wednesday morning, and the air felt different that day. I went about my work under Amaya's and her mother's watchful eyes, but I remained unfazed. Daniel worked from home that day, in his study. But whenever he came downstairs, which was frequently, I would catch him staring at me while I worked. He was always around my workplace. Sometimes, he winked and smiled brightly at me. His stares were so obvious that the other maids caught it. I blushed and tried to stay away from him. When I moved to the kitchen, Daniel appeared again, this time with two maids

  • A Lifetime With Her    Sebastian Smith

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW "We're here," Mom said, pulling me out of my thoughts. We stood before a massive glass house with wooden accents, its size surprising me. I didn't realize the café was this large on my first visit, and it was certainly busier than on the Wednesday I had my interview. Mondays were clearly more hectic. This could only mean one thing: more work.Mom asked calmly, "You ready?" Her caring glance met mine. I nodded, taking a deep breath."About what happened earlier—" She began to speak, but I cut her off. "It's fine, Mom. I'm over Daniel and his empty promises. I'm fine," I assured her, trying to sound convincing. She squeezed my hand reassuringly, and we stepped inside. The manager greeted us warmly. "Darla, right on time. Our boss will be here soon."I nodded, and the manager directed us to a well-furnished room resembling a businessman's office. After ten minutes passed with no sign of the boss, Mom began pacing, frustration etched on her face. "Where is he? I'

  • A Lifetime With Her    Sebastian's Second Chance At Love

SEBASTIAN'S POINT OF VIEW Darla. My one true love. Standing before her, I felt my eyes widen in shock, and my palms grew sweaty. My heart, which I once thought to be incapable of beating for anything, thumped loudly and widely."Sebastian..." Darla whispered my name in disbelief, and it seemed as if my world froze. My heart melted at the sound of her voice. She was still as lovely as I remembered, and time had been kind to her. Her gray eyes still shone, but this time, they seemed tired, suffocated, and desperate for help. Her brown skin looked pale with stress and hurt, and her once-lush brown hair now seemed lackluster. She appears to be going through the worst time in her life. The sight of her brought tears to my eyes, but I fought them back. I never expected her to be the new hire, nor did I expect to see her in Bali. When I broke up with her in our university days, I became devastated and lived in misery. No woman could ever know me, understand me, and love me like she did. He

SEBASTIAN'S POINT OF VIEW I smiled warmly, hiding my true intentions. "You're hired, Darla. You're more than qualified, and I need someone I can trust." Darla's face lit up with a bright smile. "I won't let you down, Sebastian. Thank you for this opportunity," she said, her eyes shining with gratitude.I nodded, feeling satisfied. Phase one of my plan is complete. Now, I just need to get closer to her, gain her trust, and wait for the perfect moment to strike. This is going to be a thrilling game.Darla and I spent the next hour reminiscing about our university days before I introduced her to my staff. "Everyone, this is Darla, our new hire." I announced, slipping my hand around her waist, but I quickly removed it, in order not to make Darla uncomfortable. "Nice to meet you all," Darla replied cheerfully."Darla will be working with us as a server," I added. "Please make her feel welcome. She's a good friend, and I want her to feel comfortable here." "Don't worry, boss. We'll take

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW After a long, drama-filled day at work, I trudged home, still reeling from the incident with Myra. Her slap stung, but I knew it was coming - she'd seen Sebastian's hand on my waist and caught my accidental eye contact. I wish I had slapped her back before Sebastian intervened. As I entered the house, I found Grandma Amelia setting the dining table. Mom was rarely home, usually working late, which worried me since she isn't fully healed yet."Good evening, Grandma," I greeted, heading for the stairs."Darla, what happened to your face?" Grandma Amelia asked, her tone gentle with concern."It's nothing, Grandma. Just a rough day at work. I'll be in my room," I replied politely."Aren't you having dinner?" Grandma asked."I think I'll pass. I'm too tired. I need to sleep," I said before heading up."Darla, you know you can tell me the truth," Grandma persuaded.I nodded and headed up, not wanting to worry her about the slap. As soon as I slumped into bed, I drifte

SEBASTIAN'S POINT OF VIEW "You didn't tell me she was allergic to tulips!" Myra hissed, her tone hushed, as we stood beside Darla's hospital bed. Darla lay unconscious, an oxygen mask over her nose, a drip attached to her arm, and a monitor beeping steadily."What would you have done if I had told you?" I replied, my gaze fixed on Darla's pale face.Myra's voice rose in indignation. "I don't know, maybe not bring it along! I deserved to know! Now, you've made me look like a monster in front of the press. Everyone will think I did it on purpose."I laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "A monster? Isn't that what you truly are? Besides, no one will think you did it intentionally.” I said, throwing a glance at her.“Not with the way you rushed in, feigning concern." Myra's eyes narrowed. "You agreed to this, remember?" I reminded her, my gaze darkening."I didn't know this was what I was getting into," Myra protested. "I asked you why I had to bring the flowers, and you didn't tell me. Y

I sneered, releasing my grip on her arm as I closed the door.Mother rubbed her arm, eyeing me warily. "So, tell me, why did you bring me here?"Over the past few days, I've noticed a change in her behavior. She's been incredibly sweet and acting so kindly, trying to get on Daniel's good side, and it seems to be working. A part of me doesn't think this is just an act for her anymore. I think she might betray me in the long run. Her newfound friendship with Sophia only adds to my suspicions. I need to stay cautious.I took a deep breath and began, "I'm about to call Marcus, and I think you should be here too."Mother raised an eyebrow. "Marcus, who hasn't been responding to your calls? Delilah asked.Delilah has become my ally since she revealed Daniel's affair with Darla. "She's just getting on my nerves," I replied.Delilah sympathized. "She's been getting on mine too. Could you believe she brought me here just because I didn't address her with Head Maid when talking to her? Honestly, she's doing too much. You'd think she's Daniel's wife."I smirked. "That's it! I have the perfect plan to put her out of a job.”Delilah's eyes lit up. "I'm in. I want her fired."“Let's play a game called 'Daniel is in love with Sophia'," I began.“I like where this is going, but Sophia won't believe our words. She knows we are villains,” Delilah mentioned.I leaned in, conspiring. "Not if we get her bestie, Maria, to spread the lie. • A Lifetime With Her    Malik Gets Apprehended

DANIEL'S POINT OF VIEW As soon as I dropped Monica off at home, I headed out to my car, despite the late hour. I called James as I walked, and he answered on the first ring."Hey, are you there?" I asked."We've got his location, and we're waiting outside his house," James replied. "Mister Brandford and I are here, and I've also got the police force ready to take him down. Brandford dug up some dirt on him, and it turns out Malik wasn't mentally unstable at all. He lied to get into rehab and lay low for the crimes he committed."I stopped dead in my tracks. "What kind of crimes did he commit?""Human trafficking," James revealed. "The FBI raided their operation once and caught most of them, but Malik escaped by pretending to be mentally unstable. The court believed him because he was a victim of abuse. With what we know now, he's going away for life."I let out a frustrated expletive. "Alright, I'll be there soon. Make sure he doesn't escape."I quickly got into my car and started th

  • A Lifetime With Her    Getting Monica Out

DANIEL'S POINT OF VIEW When we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly, and we were led to a private room. The room was privately reserved as I had told Monica. The place belonged to James' friend, so it would be easy to get our plan done.As we sat down, Monica couldn't help but notice the champagne chilling in the bucket. "You're really going all out, aren't you?" she said, raising an eyebrow.I smiled, pouring her a glass. "I want to make tonight special."We toasted and sipped our champagne, the conversation flowing easily. Monica laughed and smiled, her guard dropping with each passing minute. The evening wore on, and we laughed and talked like we used to. I made sure to keep the champagne flowing, and Monica's inhibitions began to fade.As the main course arrived, I reached across the table and took her hand. "I'm really glad we're doing this, Monica. I feel like we're reconnecting."Monica's eyes sparkled, and she squeezed my hand. "Me too, Daniel. Me too."I could smell the cham

  • A Lifetime With Her    The Plan To Get Monica Out

DANIEL'S POINT OF VIEW "James, I can't keep pretending to be in love with Monica anymore. I need her out of my house soon," I lamented to James, who sat across from me in my office."I know, but it's only for a little while longer. The blackmail has been working perfectly, and I think she's going to fall for it," James consoled me.Ever since we put our blackmail plan into action, Monica had been on edge, always looking over her shoulder, scared that someone was lurking in the shadows. One touch and she would jolt in shock. She has become secretive, always hiding, but amidst all that, I have managed to gain her trust, making her think I was the good guy. She doesn't suspect a thing, and even if she did, there is no evidence on my devices."Monica is getting more clingy and tight-lipped. This whole love thing isn't working. We need another approach," I blurted out."I've called Mister Brandford. He'll be here soon, and then we can devise another plan," James explained."He better be h

  • A Lifetime With Her    Darla's Time To Shine

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW As soon as it was morning, and at an appropriate time, I dialed the phone number on the card and called Miss Vanessa Chen. I was nervous, pacing back and forth. Would she even answer? Would she still remember me? It has been a long time since she gave me her card, and I never called her. Would there even be a vacant position available anymore? After the third ring with no reply, my hope began to dwindle. I should have known this was pointless. But I didn't want to give up so soon, so I tried calling her again for the fourth time. And then, it connected."Yes, this is Vanessa Chen from DG AdVibe Bali. How may we be of service to you?" Vanessa said in a professional tone."Hi, Miss Vanessa, this is... um... Darla. The girl you met at a café some time ago. You said my voice was unique and gave me your card to consider a job. Do you still remember?" I asked nervously."Of course, how could I forget you? You were on the news recently," Miss Vanessa said with a hint o

  • A Lifetime With Her    The Sentencing Of Sebastian

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW I stood in the courtroom, my heart racing with anticipation, as Judge Thompson entered and took his seat. It had been three long weeks since Sebastian's arrest, and I had been waiting for this moment, for what felt like an eternity."Sebastian Smith, you have been found guilty of Attempted Murder of an Unborn Child, Attempted Murder in the First Degree, and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree," Judge Thompson began. "The severity of your crimes is unparalleled, and the court has taken into consideration the harm you caused to Darla Matthew and her unborn child."I felt a lump form in my throat as the judge continued. "For the charge of Attempted Murder of an Unborn Child, I hereby sentence you to twenty-five years to life in prison. For the charge of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, I sentence you to thirty years to life in prison, to be served consecutively with the first sentence. And for the charge of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, I se

  • A Lifetime With Her    You're Under Arrest, Sebastian Smith

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW Cecelia, Myra, and I waited a week before meeting up, careful not to arouse suspicion. During that time, I scoured the internet for information about the shooting incident at Daniel's company. What I found broke my heart and left me conflicted. Despite my hatred for Daniel, reading about his company's downfall tore me apart. Maybe I still loved him, even after he tried to kill me.A week later, we met at the potato farm where Grandma Amelia and my mother worked. Amelia brought her uncle, the police chief, as promised. As we surveyed the vast crop land, I handed him the evidence I had gathered on Sebastian. "Will this be enough to put him in prison?" I asked. The police chief took the documents and said, "I'll need to review these and do some additional research before we can make an arrest.""How long will that take?" I asked, concern etched in my voice."With the witness records, hospital statements, and concrete proof you've provided, it should only take me th

  • A Lifetime With Her    The Truth Comes To Light

DARLA'S POINT OF VIEW After my conversation with Sebastian on the road that day, a series of mysterious events unfolded. My mother was released from custody without explanation, and the Hillary incident was dropped as if it never happened. My doubts about Sebastian's involvement grew exponentially.Meanwhile, Sebastian's harassment intensified. He progressed from pushing me to orchestrating more sinister "accidents": slippery floors, oncoming vehicles, and even stalking me. The final straw was when he appeared at my house dressed in a horror costume, holding a knife. But I refused to be intimidated.Determined to expose the truth, I collaborated with a hospital doctor to uncover the identity of the woman Sebastian had paid to induce my miscarriage. With this new information, I reached out to Myra, and arranged a secret meeting.I chose a discreet café, ensuring Sebastian wouldn't follow me. He thinks I'm still at the hospital for my ante-natal check-up, unbeknownst to him, I had exit

  • A Lifetime With Her    Back In Rehab

DANIEL'S POINT OF VIEW "How did you know it was Malik who murdered Troy?" James asked, his curiosity piqued.I recalled the chilling voicemail. "I recognized his voice in the background, speaking in an Arabic tone right before the shot was fired. I can't forget the distinctive sound of his accent."James raised an eyebrow. "And that makes him the murderer?"I connected the dots. "Both Monica and Malik escaped from rehab. I think she might have hired him to do her a favor, like killing Troy. Did the email give any further information?"“Yes, there are a lot of files. Let me just download them.” James replied. After a few minutes, his expression turned horrified. "You may be right, Daniel. Malik and Monica tortured a fellow inmate to death, making it look like a suicide. They were caught trying to delete the evidence and fled. They're currently wanted."I felt a chill run down my spine. "God, who is Monica? How could they have tortured someone to death?"James' eyes locked onto mine, h

DANIEL'S POINT OF VIEWJames and I departed from the Huangs' residence as soon as we obtained the desired information. I had previously told Monica that I would be spending my time in the office, and she didn't suspect otherwise, unaware that I had arranged for a team to escort the Huangs to a secure location.Upon our return, James and I swiftly began searching for Anthony's boyfriend's family. Within a few hours, we successfully located their address and headed there. Once we arrived, we got straight to the point."We're looking for the truth," I said firmly. "We want to know what happened to your son, Mrs. Miller."Mrs. Miller, the mother of Patrick Miller, Anthony's deceased boyfriend, broke down in tears. "That brutal woman killed my son," she sobbed, overcome with grief.I handed her a box of tissues, and James and I exchanged a somber glance. We knew that uncovering the truth wouldn't be easy, but we were determined to see justice served."Monica?" I asked, and she nodded in re
