Liam paced through his bedroom while his grandfather sat in front of him, looking at him like he had lost his head.
“ Can you explain to me William why my daughter-in-law has refused to come back home? And why is she trying to annul a marriage, a few weeks after marriage?” Liam's grandfather questioned him as he tried to calm his nerves. Truth is, he was getting agitated but he was trying badly not to show it yet.
Liam paused as he turned to glare at his grandfather. “ I wish I knew the answer to that too, Grandpa. I'm lost here” Liam shouted at his grandfather before turning to stare out of the window trying to organize his thoughts.
He was almost going crazy with the thought of Maya on his mind. After her mother's funeral, she had walked into his office the next day and threatened him to annul their marriage el

Maya gazed into her mother’s smiling face with tears streaming down her face, she murmured words to her mother while gazing at the portrait in her hands. It was a picture Maya had forced her to take some years after her father left.“ Mom, I miss you so much. This world seems empty without your warm presence, your never-ending smiles, and even your nagging. I miss them all'' Maya cried as she hugged the portrait to her heart, crying out her sorrow. She was thankful that the Blake's were not at home. She wouldn't want to see the worried look on their faces.A knock on the door pulled Maya from her thoughts as she stood up, wiping her eyes with the hem of her dress she walked to the door wondering if Mrs. Blake had forgotten something at home since it wasn't her closing hours yet. She worked as a cleaner in the hospital where her mother ha
"Good morning, Vera. I trust you had a good night's sleep last night, huh?" Mr. Powell greeted his housekeeper the next moment he showed himself into the kitchen."Yes, Mr. Powell. Thank you for asking," Vera commented with a smile on her face as she turned to hand him his glass of morning coffee. She noticed his pleasant mood and commented on it."You look excited this morning, Mr. Powell," Vera said as she stepped away from him and went on with her chores of getting breakfast ready. " Yes. You can say that again. Has my grandson or wife awakened already?" Mr. Powell asked her as he let his eyes take in the activity in the room. He stared at everyone who was busy running around the kitchen trying to attend to their needs. Apart from Vera, who had been with them since she was young, Liam's grandfather had hired four other extra helpers to assist her in the kitchen, especially now that she was way past fifty."Not yet, Mr. Powell." Vera paused as she grinned in excitement, suddenly rem
Liam donned his tie and stood in front of his mirror, checking to see if anything was wrong with his appearance. He caught a stray curl with his hands and straightened it back. Today, unlike any other day, he decided to go with his dark blue Armani suit and white pristine shirt. He had always been told how the blue suit does fantasy to his eyes and makes women swoon over him. Not that he wanted any woman to swoon over him. He wanted his wife. And he wanted her like he had never wanted any woman before. Picking up his briefcase, Liam strolled to the door and paused to glance around the room once again. He couldn’t believe his wife was now sharing his bedroom with him. He had never been able to sleep with a woman in the same room but he had last night. And it was such a surprise to him that he couldn’t help thinking about it even at the breakfast table. Turning away from the room, Liam walked to the door and opened it, stepping out into the foyer as he took the stairs down. He was surp
Maya sat rigidly in the car, watching Liam’s back disappear into the building with Noah scrambling behind him ”So much for being such a couple,” Maya mumbled to herself as she scoffed at them. A loyal dog and his masterShe didn’t know what to do. She was scared of going into the building; what would everyone think of her? She had been scared ever since Liam’s grandfather announced that she was going to the company with Liam that morning. She had thought she would spend the day working in the garden or reading books she had glimpsed in the library as she walked to the guest room that morning to shower. If only Liam wasn’t an egoistical, narcissistic bastard. He could have helped her into the office by himself, but instead, he let her handle it by herself.“Ma’am” Maya was jolted from her thoughts as she turned to stare at the driver, who was still holding the car door open with his head bowed. Maya smiled as she apologised to the man before stepping out of the car. She took a slow s
“ I can't believe you just did that” Belinda fumes as she glared at her husband who made no move to pacify her. Instead, he stood with his head bowed inside the elevator.“ You could have said something, anything to keep him from kicking us out of the company_____”“ Or you could have informed me before taking out such a huge sum of money from the company's account. Five million? What's in God's name did you even use the money for?” Mr. Clinton turned to snap at his wife who pulled her face up in a frown and adjusted her handbag.“ I meant to replace it sooner. I didn't know he would notice it” She replied just as the elevator's door dinged, ushering them into the reception. They both strode out with anger in their stride. Just before Mr. Clinton got into his car, he stood gazing at the company he had spent almost all his years building from scratch with his brother. He had dedicated all his life and spending into this company only to be kicked out of it like a dog. No way! He wouldn'
Liam smiled as soon as he saw his uncle and wife exiting the company“Good riddance,” He mustered to himself before turning back to his meeting. His eyes met Maya's; he winked at her and watched as she quickly averted her eyes from him, but not before he saw the longing in them. That made him so happy. “Now, Sancho.” Sancho stood up immediately when he heard his name. A frown settled on his sad face as he wondered why the boss was calling him.“From now on, all bills must pass my inspection before they are dispatched. Is that clear?” Yes, sir,” Sancho replied with a smile as he made to sit back down. He was so happy to see that the boss wasn't going to fire him. A minute there, he thought he was doomed.“You are suspended for a month. Mr. Bennett will handle your job until you return; is that okay with you, Bennett?” Liam asked Mr. Bennett. He was Maya's former boss.“Yes, sir,” Mr. Bennett replied with a frown on his face. He had a lot of work to catch up with, and now the boss was
Maya was about to comment on Doctor Gordon's greeting, but was cut short by Liam, who said, “It's Mrs. Powell for you, doctor Gordon.”Doctor Gordon stares at Liam with confusion on his face, unable to comprehend Liam's words. Does he mean Mrs. Powell was sick? But the Mrs. Powell, they all knew who was Liam's mother died in a plane crash with her husband. And the youngest Powell, Liam, hasn't married since. What does the youngest Powell mean? Doctor Gordon wondered in his mind as he stared at Liam, his face pulling up in a frown.“I mean _____.”“We are married now, Doctor.” Maya rushed to correct the doctor, cutting off his comment. The doctor's eyes widened in shock as he stared from one to the other, wondering if they were lying. Last time he checked, Liam and Maya Bank were at odds with each other. What has changed now? Could they perhaps be in love with each other? Or was this perhaps about the article and rumours that had been circulating in the cities for some weeks now?At a
Liam sat in the car, looking out of the window, staring at the restaurant where he was supposed to meet Frank and Clarissa. Even though the car pulled over some thirty minutes ago. He dreaded seeing him. What news will he have for him now? Has he found a new lead? Things didn't add up. Liam couldn't believe it had been five years since the death of his parents. And every time a new lead comes up, it looks like they've just died.“Are you not going in?” Liam came out of his thoughts to look at Noah, who was seated across from him in the limousine.Liam ignored his words but rather asked him instead, “How's Maya? Has she left the office?”Noah snorted at him; he knew what Liam was doing, and he wasn't going to allow it. “You are stalling my question, and you know it,” He told him, already opening the door.Come, let's go in and have it done already.” He waved Liam over, who reluctantly got out of the car. He heaves a loud sigh. “That's right, let's get this done so I can go home to b
Mrs Belinda smiled at the security guard who had stopped her car and was now walking toward her.She whines down her window and waves her hands at him “Hello. Open up the gate, I'm a member here” She nodded at him. “Good afternoon, Ma'am. I'm sorry but can I see your ID?” He asked her as he bent to look at her through the window. Belinda smiled as she noticed he was old and was spotting wrinkles on his face.He couldn't be older than her but thanks to her monthly skin care products, her face was wrinkles free. Now, she looks so young that people confuse her daughter and her to be sisters. And Belinda liked it so much.“It's okay.” Mrs. Clinton said and her newest Louis Vuitton bag, she rummaged around to see that she had forgotten to bring her membership ID.Now this security guard would have to embarrass her and Belinda didn't want to draw attention to herself, especially not now when there were sensitive issues concerning them in the news. She whined down the glass again and smiled
The Sun shines brighter in the sky. Mrs Clinton donned her makeup, picked up her Luiz Vuitton bag and went out of her room. She walked down the stairs giggling excitedly. She had played them smartly and she was glad.Since Liam had chased her husband from the company, he no longer pays them a monthly allowance and the one Grandpa Mason gave to them was so small that it couldn't sustain their household not to talk of it being enough to meet her personal needs. She paused as soon as she noticed her husband pacing around the sitting room. She glared at him. This was all his fault, if only he hadn't left that company she wouldn't have had to stoop so low as to purchase a counterfeit. She hopes no one notices at the Marshall's party.“Where are you going?” Mr. Clinton bellowed at his wife who had ignored him and instead moved towards the door.Even since the incident at the office, she has been avoiding him.“I'm going to the Marshall's party.'' She called to him. She turned to look at him
Even though Liam didn't hear her, Maya could dictate the jealousy in her voice and the meaning behind her words.“She has a crush on him!” Maya gasped. She couldn't believe she was going to fight a little girl for Liam. God, so much for abstaining from men all this while. Why couldn't she have fallen for someone like Alex? Even as she said so her heart broke, cause she knew she would have never been happy with Alexander.“What are you doing here, Fiona?” Liam asked her as he sat on his chair and regarded her with a serious expression on his face.Fiona suddenly jumped up in excitement and ran to the table. “I need your help” She exclaimed while she pouted at Liam who smiled and waved her on“You know I'm done with my school, right?”Liam nodded. He paused as understanding dawned on him “You need a job”“Yes. That's why I love you. You're so intelligent. Much more than Charles'' She called to him.Liam frowned. He was searching his brain for any form of work she could do in his compan
Maya smiled. She did tell Alexander that Liam would do anything for her. She knew he was attracted to her.“I don't want you to chase anyone from that house,” Maya responded. She smiled at him.“And what are you willing to give me in exchange?” Liam inquired of her. He smirked as soon as he saw the shock on her face.“Really, Maya? Do you think I was going to give up a billion-dollar project and not want anything in exchange?” Liam asked her. Just who the hell does she think he was? He might love her but he was a businessman at heart.Maya gulped as she avoided his eyes. He was willing to let go of the house in exchange for what she could give him. And what could that be? Maya tho
Liam threw the door open and pushed her inside.“Liam, please ” Noah screamed at him as he came running towards them. He has just been informed by Mrs Houston, who was a large shareholder in the company.“Stay out of this, Noah” Liam warned him. He turned to close the door. He clicked the lock, locking them in, his hands pulsing with anger. He walked to the window and pulled down the blinds shutting out the rest of the world while he turned to the woman who was hell-bent on making his world a living hell.“What was the meaning of that in there?” He growled at her stalking towards her with angry strides while she took one step back, her tongue going out to lick her bottom lips.
“There's someone here to see you, Ma'am”Maya turned from her desk where she sat, shocked.“Who?” She asked Dora, the receptionist while wondering who that could be.Dora shrugs. She didn't bother to ask for his name. He was one handsome dude and she had stared at him in shock thinking he had come for her not until he had asked for Maya.Dora frowned at her while staring sideways at her. She wasn't even beautiful. Why then did handsome men fall for her?“I'm coming. Let me inform Liam first ”Maya replied, she stood up and straightened the wrinkle in her purple short gown and stepped around to go to Liam's office.
Liam carried her into the night running around the garden trying to find a way to his car while his heart beat erratically in his chest.Maya groaned, she untied his tie and unbuttoned his chest with frantic fingers, her hands becoming desperate for him.She pushed the shirt aside and fondled his chest hair. She drew her hands through them as she sighed. It felt like coming home to her. This is what she wanted. What she has waited for all her life.“Don't,” Liam gasped as her hands found his nipples. She pinched on it causing him to pause. He threw his head back and moaned.“God, Maya” He kissed her urgently. Shoving his tongue through her mouth with an urgency he couldn't control...“I want you so much” He called huskily into her mouth.Liam kissed her a bit longer. He stopped and threw his hands up signalling for her to stop.He took a step back after dropping her on the ground. They were now hidden in the garden.“Let's take a deep breath” He instructed her while he also did that b
There was something about her that touched something deep inside him. Emotions he had kept buried for years. Emotions he had given up on. Emotions____No, let's not go there, Liam. He warned his heart as he turned down a narrow way and pulled into a parking lot.Maya turned to stare at the house where he had pulled into. It was a typical Western house with two storeys.“How did you know so much about here?” Maya asked the one question that had been on her mind since that night.Liam shrugs as he opens the door for her. She stepped out and he jammed the door, locking it.He held his hands out to her, she placed her hands on his arms as he turned to guide her into the house.“I have a mining company on the outskirts of the city”It took a while before Liam's words could register in Maya's brain. Her brain has ceased functioning ever since she had touched Liam. Her heart had taken over and it was telling her how good it w
Maya freezes as she opens the door, sweating profusely. The fight ebbing through her from her exercise. She had remembered her mother's advice to her to always exercise away her anger and never to say or do anything she would later regret in angerWhich was why she had taken the stairs instead of the elevator. And now that she had gotten into the room, Liam was not available. It was like he had disappeared. Her eyes caught the bead in her hands. She glared at it. Could it be the reason for her troubles? Could Liam be right? He had said the bead was nothing but bad luck. “Damn you. You're nothing but bad luck. Everything started that night after we left the flea market” Her hands were already going to pull the bead from her hands but she was surprised to find it stuck. She tried it again and again but it wouldn't budge. Maya was in the process of tearing it off when the doorbell rang.“Yes, I'm coming.'' She called hurrying to the door. She thought it was Liam knocking. She opened t
