Liam sat back down on the chair as soon as Maya walked out of the door. He touched his lips the second time, surprised at how only a kiss could make him feel so disoriented. He only wanted to get back at her for tarnishing his image but he ended up getting affected instead by her soft lips.
Liam straightened on his seat as he tried to adjust his trouser which had given him an erection just by the thought of Maya's lips.
Liam came out of his thoughts just as he heard the door, he straightened on his chair and smoothened out his suit before calling, ‘come in’ to the person.
Noah strolled into the boss's office with the files his boss had asked for in his hands. He dropped them gently on the table before turning to look at the boss who was watching him with a confused expression on his face" What are these?"
Noah raised his eyebrows, shocked as soon as he heard that. How could his boss forget so easily" Those are Miss Banks' personal files? You ask me to get them for you" Noah responded as Liam nodded and went through the files one after the other.
"Has Miss Banks left the company?" Liam asked Noah, showing a bit of disinterest in the issue but inwardly, he was dying to know if she was still in his company.
" Yes sir. She left some hours ago" Noah replied. He turned to leave just as Liam waved him off but he paused and turned to watch the boss slowly afraid of what he wanted to say just now.
Liam noticed Noah's presence in his office. He raised his eyebrows at him, shocked" What are you still here for?" Liam asked him, he remembered waving him off but he's still here.
Just as Noah was about to reply, Liam's ringing tone filled the office. Liam cursed softly as he stood up to go pick up as it was his personal phone.
Liam immediately turned to accept the call as soon as he saw the caller's ID" Hello, grandpa" Liam called into the phone as he strolled to stand in front of the window looking down at the street. He was surprised as to why his grandfather was calling him at the office? Has he left already?
" Williams, bring that woman home. I want you to get married to her immediately seeing that she is pregnant with your child"
His grandfather's excited voice filled the phone. Liam couldn't help cursing loudly, he had forgotten how fast news flies.
Now, his grandfather wanted him to marry a woman who tarnished his image and was only after his money. No way!
" Grandpa, I'm sorry but you're mistaken. I can't marry that woman, she isn't pregnant for me. Everything in the magazine is not real" Liam went on to explain, he stepped away from the window and sat down on his chair, resting his back gently against the armrest.
" But Liam_________"
" I have to go now, grandpa. See you at home" Liam cut in, as he rushed to hang up the call before his grandfather said more ridiculous things.
Liam turned to relax on his chair. He couldn't believe his grandfather had asked him to marry Maya. Even though he was attracted to her he couldn't possibly get married to someone who lied his way into his arms. She was just like every gold digger he knows.
" Permit me, sir, I would like to say something," Noah said just as Liam came out of his thoughts to look at him.
Liam nodded for him to continue as he wrapped his hands across his chest with his head resting on the armrest, he gave him his optimum attention.
" I think you should accept your grandfather's choice," Noah told him. After going through the article writing about his boss and Miss Banks, he could see this was a great idea.
Noah rushed to explain as soon as he saw Liam's lips curled up in anger and his fists clenched" I mean not legally but you and Miss Banks could have some sort of fake marriage just to save the company and no will know"
Liam sat up as soon as he heard that explanation. He stared at Noah for a long time thinking about the proposition before him. The idea was beneficial to him especially as he dreaded the idea of marriage and he could still save his company and reputation just by getting married to the one woman who started all of this.
Liam couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face. He stood up and grabbed Noah's hand in a firm handshake before turning to swivel across the room in excitement. This was a perfect idea! He could still remain celibate just by having a fake marriage. Woah! Why didn't he think of that before?
" Now, quickly find Miss Banks for me" Liam commanded Noah who turned to run out of the office but Liam's voice stopped him on the way.
" Have you canceled the magazine subscription?" Liam asked him after remembering that he has asked him to cancel the yearly subscription for the gossip magazine.
" Not yet sir. I'm sorry, I will get to it immediately" Noah replied, scared that the boss might be angry with him. He has spent the time on the phone discussing with his new girlfriend that he has forgotten about the magazine. He hopes the boss will pardon him just this once.
" Leave it," Liam told a shocked Noah, waving him off. Liam turned to stare out of the window, his adrenaline was surging with excitement even for a fake wedding.
Liam smiled to himself" I always knew you will be useful someday, Miss Banks. Just wait, I will make sure to satisfy all of my fantasies with you" Liam muttered to himself before going over to his chair to get on with his work.

Thirty minutes later, Liam was done making preparations for his fake wedding at the registry. All that was missing was the bride, Liam kept checking his watch wondering what was keeping Noah waiting?
Liam smiled as soon as he heard a knock on the door, he turned to call ‘come in’ to the person with his hands folded across his chest. He wasn't surprised to see Maya walking into the room closely followed by Noah.
" Miss Banks was already on her way to you, sir" Noah hinted at his boss before turning to walk out of the door, closing it gently behind him as Liam turned to motion Maya to the empty seat in front of him.
" Have your seat, Miss Banks. And let's hear why you are back in my company a few hours after I ask you to leave?" Liam glared at her feigning annoyance. He was grateful to Noah for hinting that to him. It will be easy to manipulate her to accept his proposal.
Maya cringed in fear as she took baby's step to the chair across from Liam, her newfound confidence faltering when she came face to face with Liam Powell.
" I_______ I'm sorry but I_______"
" Miss Banks, can you go straight to the point, I don't have all day," Liam said, cutting her off from her monosyllabic sentences. He turned to gather his files into his bag.
Maya nodded, she dropped her bag gently on her lap before taking a deep breath. She stares at Liam avoiding his eyes, while she prayed that he would be able to give the money" I need your help, sir, can you lend me two million dollars"
Liam sat up on his seat in shock, he was surprised to hear that. What did she need that kind amount of money for? Is she in any trouble that he isn't aware of?" Two million dollars?" Liam asked her again to be sure he heard alright.
" Yes sir" Maya replied, with her head bowed, she forced the tears that threatened to surface back. There was no need to cry in front of him.
" Why? What did you need that huge sum of money for? Are you in debt" Liam asked her? He wasn't expecting her to ask for such a huge sum of money from him. He thought she wanted to beg her job back but she was being the gold digger he had once thought her of.
" That's none of your business. Are you giving me the money or not?" Maya glared at him, getting annoyed. How dare he sit there and pretend to care about her when he was the cause of her sorrows? If only he did listen to her, her mother would have been at home right now nagging her to get a man not in the hospital fighting for her life.
Liam's face tightened in anger. How could she tell him that it wasn't his business" I will give you the money but only one condition" Liam told her, he was trying to be gentle with her but here she was telling him it wasn't any of his business.
The happiness that was evident on Maya's face disappeared the moment she heard that. She knew he would be able to give her the money but she wasn't aware of the condition.
" What's the condition?" Maya summoned up the courage to ask after she had concluded to do anything for her mother. Even though it means dancing to the tone of Liam Powell's music.
Liam smiled when he saw the resolve on her face. He took out his checkbook and wrote her a cheque to show her that he was serious" Here's your cheque" Liam showed it to her but refused to give it to her.
" This will be yours only if you agree to be my wife"
Maya gaped as her eyes widened in shock. She wasn't expecting him to want to marry her" But you don't know anything about me," Maya asked him in shock. Moreover, she wasn't interested in getting married to him. He was the cause of all her troubles.
" You don't have to worry about that. I just need you to pretend to be my wife and nothing else" Liam raised his eyebrows at her, expecting her response.
Maya gulped nervously. She kept on reminding herself that she was only doing this for her mother and no one else" Okay, let's do it" Maya said after some time, she wanted to get out of here with the money in her hands but Liam had other plans for her.
" Really?" Liam asked her, shocked to see that she accepted without much persuasion. Liam wondered who the guy was, he's such a lucky man!. Liam stood up gathering his bag in his hands, he turned to see a bewildered Maya staring up at him.
" Where are we going?" Maya questioned after some time of him not saying anything to her. Was he joking with her right now? Maya wondered in her mind.
" To get married of course!" Liam smirked at her. He turned to walk out of the door without giving her any choice than to follow him.
Maya ran to keep up with Liam's long stride. She waited until they got into the elevator before she could protest. She didn't want most of the employees who had gathered to watch them, gossiping behind her back again.
" Can we get married another day? I really need the money urgently" Maya protested, hoping that Liam would consider her plea.
" And what should I do if you run away, Miss Banks?" Liam asked her as he watched her face for a response" We are getting married today, you can use the money for whatever tomorrow" Liam continued as stroll out of the elevator to the parking lot where his white Maserati was parked.
Maya bit her lips to stop her from crying. She got into the car beside Liam and watched him pull out of the company parking lot. Only then could she ask the one question that has been on her mind" How many months will the marriage last?"
Liam turned to look at her, searching her face to see if she was backing out but only pain was evident" Three months" Liam answered, though he hoped it wouldn't be more than that.
Maya nodded as she turned to gaze out of the window into the dark cold night which was empty and void just like the feelings in her heart. She hopes her mother will be alright before she got to her tomorrow
Liam pulled into the customary court at exactly eight pm. He was thankful for surviving the suffocating silence which has fallen on them on their way here. He couldn't stop glancing at her time after time to see if she had changed her mind but she was cold and so distant that Liam couldn't help wondering if it was because he refused to give her the money. Liam stepped out of the car and made way to go help Maya with her door but she had beat him to it. He watched her get out of the car and only then could he notice the dress on her, a black mini skirt with a lilac flowery top. If only he had not gotten jealous over some guy, he would have probably gotten her a dress along the way. Now, he hopes this will be alright just to get the marriage certificate, they can have a proper wedding later. Liam turned
Maya ran down the hospital hallway frantically searching for the elevator as her eyes were blinded with tears. She hoped she wasn't too late? She paused as she was about to get in, lost in tears, remembering her mother's smiles. “ Excuse me, ma'am! Are you going to stand here gazing at the elevator or are you going inside?” A voice called out to Maya as she turned swiftly to take in an angry Liam glaring down at her with his hands inside his pockets. Maya noticed that he had changed out of his beige suit, he was now dressed in a navy blue suit with a white pristine white shirt. His neck was bare of a tie. Maya forced her eyes away from him and stepped into the elevator. She refused to let him annoy her. Her mother needs her more. She hopes she's alright... Liam gazed at Maya who stood far away from him, he clench
Liam paced through his bedroom while his grandfather sat in front of him, looking at him like he had lost his head. “ Can you explain to me William why my daughter-in-law has refused to come back home? And why is she trying to annul a marriage, a few weeks after marriage?” Liam's grandfather questioned him as he tried to calm his nerves. Truth is, he was getting agitated but he was trying badly not to show it yet. Liam paused as he turned to glare at his grandfather. “ I wish I knew the answer to that too, Grandpa. I'm lost here” Liam shouted at his grandfather before turning to stare out of the window trying to organize his thoughts. He was almost going crazy with the thought of Maya on his mind. After her mother's funeral, she had walked into his office the next day and threatened him to annul their marriage el
Maya gazed into her mother’s smiling face with tears streaming down her face, she murmured words to her mother while gazing at the portrait in her hands. It was a picture Maya had forced her to take some years after her father left.“ Mom, I miss you so much. This world seems empty without your warm presence, your never-ending smiles, and even your nagging. I miss them all'' Maya cried as she hugged the portrait to her heart, crying out her sorrow. She was thankful that the Blake's were not at home. She wouldn't want to see the worried look on their faces.A knock on the door pulled Maya from her thoughts as she stood up, wiping her eyes with the hem of her dress she walked to the door wondering if Mrs. Blake had forgotten something at home since it wasn't her closing hours yet. She worked as a cleaner in the hospital where her mother ha
"Good morning, Vera. I trust you had a good night's sleep last night, huh?" Mr. Powell greeted his housekeeper the next moment he showed himself into the kitchen."Yes, Mr. Powell. Thank you for asking," Vera commented with a smile on her face as she turned to hand him his glass of morning coffee. She noticed his pleasant mood and commented on it."You look excited this morning, Mr. Powell," Vera said as she stepped away from him and went on with her chores of getting breakfast ready. " Yes. You can say that again. Has my grandson or wife awakened already?" Mr. Powell asked her as he let his eyes take in the activity in the room. He stared at everyone who was busy running around the kitchen trying to attend to their needs. Apart from Vera, who had been with them since she was young, Liam's grandfather had hired four other extra helpers to assist her in the kitchen, especially now that she was way past fifty."Not yet, Mr. Powell." Vera paused as she grinned in excitement, suddenly rem
Liam donned his tie and stood in front of his mirror, checking to see if anything was wrong with his appearance. He caught a stray curl with his hands and straightened it back. Today, unlike any other day, he decided to go with his dark blue Armani suit and white pristine shirt. He had always been told how the blue suit does fantasy to his eyes and makes women swoon over him. Not that he wanted any woman to swoon over him. He wanted his wife. And he wanted her like he had never wanted any woman before. Picking up his briefcase, Liam strolled to the door and paused to glance around the room once again. He couldn’t believe his wife was now sharing his bedroom with him. He had never been able to sleep with a woman in the same room but he had last night. And it was such a surprise to him that he couldn’t help thinking about it even at the breakfast table. Turning away from the room, Liam walked to the door and opened it, stepping out into the foyer as he took the stairs down. He was surp
Maya sat rigidly in the car, watching Liam’s back disappear into the building with Noah scrambling behind him ”So much for being such a couple,” Maya mumbled to herself as she scoffed at them. A loyal dog and his masterShe didn’t know what to do. She was scared of going into the building; what would everyone think of her? She had been scared ever since Liam’s grandfather announced that she was going to the company with Liam that morning. She had thought she would spend the day working in the garden or reading books she had glimpsed in the library as she walked to the guest room that morning to shower. If only Liam wasn’t an egoistical, narcissistic bastard. He could have helped her into the office by himself, but instead, he let her handle it by herself.“Ma’am” Maya was jolted from her thoughts as she turned to stare at the driver, who was still holding the car door open with his head bowed. Maya smiled as she apologised to the man before stepping out of the car. She took a slow s
“ I can't believe you just did that” Belinda fumes as she glared at her husband who made no move to pacify her. Instead, he stood with his head bowed inside the elevator.“ You could have said something, anything to keep him from kicking us out of the company_____”“ Or you could have informed me before taking out such a huge sum of money from the company's account. Five million? What's in God's name did you even use the money for?” Mr. Clinton turned to snap at his wife who pulled her face up in a frown and adjusted her handbag.“ I meant to replace it sooner. I didn't know he would notice it” She replied just as the elevator's door dinged, ushering them into the reception. They both strode out with anger in their stride. Just before Mr. Clinton got into his car, he stood gazing at the company he had spent almost all his years building from scratch with his brother. He had dedicated all his life and spending into this company only to be kicked out of it like a dog. No way! He wouldn'
Mrs Belinda smiled at the security guard who had stopped her car and was now walking toward her.She whines down her window and waves her hands at him “Hello. Open up the gate, I'm a member here” She nodded at him. “Good afternoon, Ma'am. I'm sorry but can I see your ID?” He asked her as he bent to look at her through the window. Belinda smiled as she noticed he was old and was spotting wrinkles on his face.He couldn't be older than her but thanks to her monthly skin care products, her face was wrinkles free. Now, she looks so young that people confuse her daughter and her to be sisters. And Belinda liked it so much.“It's okay.” Mrs. Clinton said and her newest Louis Vuitton bag, she rummaged around to see that she had forgotten to bring her membership ID.Now this security guard would have to embarrass her and Belinda didn't want to draw attention to herself, especially not now when there were sensitive issues concerning them in the news. She whined down the glass again and smiled
The Sun shines brighter in the sky. Mrs Clinton donned her makeup, picked up her Luiz Vuitton bag and went out of her room. She walked down the stairs giggling excitedly. She had played them smartly and she was glad.Since Liam had chased her husband from the company, he no longer pays them a monthly allowance and the one Grandpa Mason gave to them was so small that it couldn't sustain their household not to talk of it being enough to meet her personal needs. She paused as soon as she noticed her husband pacing around the sitting room. She glared at him. This was all his fault, if only he hadn't left that company she wouldn't have had to stoop so low as to purchase a counterfeit. She hopes no one notices at the Marshall's party.“Where are you going?” Mr. Clinton bellowed at his wife who had ignored him and instead moved towards the door.Even since the incident at the office, she has been avoiding him.“I'm going to the Marshall's party.'' She called to him. She turned to look at him
Even though Liam didn't hear her, Maya could dictate the jealousy in her voice and the meaning behind her words.“She has a crush on him!” Maya gasped. She couldn't believe she was going to fight a little girl for Liam. God, so much for abstaining from men all this while. Why couldn't she have fallen for someone like Alex? Even as she said so her heart broke, cause she knew she would have never been happy with Alexander.“What are you doing here, Fiona?” Liam asked her as he sat on his chair and regarded her with a serious expression on his face.Fiona suddenly jumped up in excitement and ran to the table. “I need your help” She exclaimed while she pouted at Liam who smiled and waved her on“You know I'm done with my school, right?”Liam nodded. He paused as understanding dawned on him “You need a job”“Yes. That's why I love you. You're so intelligent. Much more than Charles'' She called to him.Liam frowned. He was searching his brain for any form of work she could do in his compan
Maya smiled. She did tell Alexander that Liam would do anything for her. She knew he was attracted to her.“I don't want you to chase anyone from that house,” Maya responded. She smiled at him.“And what are you willing to give me in exchange?” Liam inquired of her. He smirked as soon as he saw the shock on her face.“Really, Maya? Do you think I was going to give up a billion-dollar project and not want anything in exchange?” Liam asked her. Just who the hell does she think he was? He might love her but he was a businessman at heart.Maya gulped as she avoided his eyes. He was willing to let go of the house in exchange for what she could give him. And what could that be? Maya tho
Liam threw the door open and pushed her inside.“Liam, please ” Noah screamed at him as he came running towards them. He has just been informed by Mrs Houston, who was a large shareholder in the company.“Stay out of this, Noah” Liam warned him. He turned to close the door. He clicked the lock, locking them in, his hands pulsing with anger. He walked to the window and pulled down the blinds shutting out the rest of the world while he turned to the woman who was hell-bent on making his world a living hell.“What was the meaning of that in there?” He growled at her stalking towards her with angry strides while she took one step back, her tongue going out to lick her bottom lips.
“There's someone here to see you, Ma'am”Maya turned from her desk where she sat, shocked.“Who?” She asked Dora, the receptionist while wondering who that could be.Dora shrugs. She didn't bother to ask for his name. He was one handsome dude and she had stared at him in shock thinking he had come for her not until he had asked for Maya.Dora frowned at her while staring sideways at her. She wasn't even beautiful. Why then did handsome men fall for her?“I'm coming. Let me inform Liam first ”Maya replied, she stood up and straightened the wrinkle in her purple short gown and stepped around to go to Liam's office.
Liam carried her into the night running around the garden trying to find a way to his car while his heart beat erratically in his chest.Maya groaned, she untied his tie and unbuttoned his chest with frantic fingers, her hands becoming desperate for him.She pushed the shirt aside and fondled his chest hair. She drew her hands through them as she sighed. It felt like coming home to her. This is what she wanted. What she has waited for all her life.“Don't,” Liam gasped as her hands found his nipples. She pinched on it causing him to pause. He threw his head back and moaned.“God, Maya” He kissed her urgently. Shoving his tongue through her mouth with an urgency he couldn't control...“I want you so much” He called huskily into her mouth.Liam kissed her a bit longer. He stopped and threw his hands up signalling for her to stop.He took a step back after dropping her on the ground. They were now hidden in the garden.“Let's take a deep breath” He instructed her while he also did that b
There was something about her that touched something deep inside him. Emotions he had kept buried for years. Emotions he had given up on. Emotions____No, let's not go there, Liam. He warned his heart as he turned down a narrow way and pulled into a parking lot.Maya turned to stare at the house where he had pulled into. It was a typical Western house with two storeys.“How did you know so much about here?” Maya asked the one question that had been on her mind since that night.Liam shrugs as he opens the door for her. She stepped out and he jammed the door, locking it.He held his hands out to her, she placed her hands on his arms as he turned to guide her into the house.“I have a mining company on the outskirts of the city”It took a while before Liam's words could register in Maya's brain. Her brain has ceased functioning ever since she had touched Liam. Her heart had taken over and it was telling her how good it w
Maya freezes as she opens the door, sweating profusely. The fight ebbing through her from her exercise. She had remembered her mother's advice to her to always exercise away her anger and never to say or do anything she would later regret in angerWhich was why she had taken the stairs instead of the elevator. And now that she had gotten into the room, Liam was not available. It was like he had disappeared. Her eyes caught the bead in her hands. She glared at it. Could it be the reason for her troubles? Could Liam be right? He had said the bead was nothing but bad luck. “Damn you. You're nothing but bad luck. Everything started that night after we left the flea market” Her hands were already going to pull the bead from her hands but she was surprised to find it stuck. She tried it again and again but it wouldn't budge. Maya was in the process of tearing it off when the doorbell rang.“Yes, I'm coming.'' She called hurrying to the door. She thought it was Liam knocking. She opened t
