Chapter 1

Jenny took in a deep breath and looked into the eyes of the man standing opposite her. He gazed back into hers, and she felt her blood pulse in her veins.

To their side stood the priestess officiating their wedding, and she raised her hand in blessing for the couple.

“United by the will of the Moon Goddess, the both of you have come to declare your love for one another before her, as a confirmation that you respect her wish to unite your two hearts into one. Do you, Alpha Anthony, take Jennifer to be your Luna and mate from now until the end of time, or do you wish to stray on a different path from the will of the Moon Goddess. State your wish.”

Jenny's head dropped and she shut her eyes tight, feeling her inner wolf radiate with joy while wishing there was a way for her to not have to go through these questions, only jumping into a life of forever with Anthony, her mate. They had felt themselves fated to one another from childhood, and she could not think of him rejecting her for any reason at all.

“As Alpha Anthony Martin,” she heard his baritone voice echo. “I reject you as my Luna, Jennifer, and do not wish to continue this pair's bond with you.”

Refusing to believe her ears, she opened her eyes and looked at Anthony, hoping it was just another of his cruel jokes. Her mind hoped to see him laugh, or even smile, telling her it was only a joke.

Watching them was a small crowd of their family and friends, except for Jenny’s parents who could not be there due to a medical emergency. They all began to mutter, wondering what had gone wrong with the couple who had been lovebirds for as long as they could remember.

As for Jenny who had known Anthony for so long, she could tell he was not joking. His serious facial expression was stern, and there was nothing in his handsome face to suggest that he was going to take back what he had just said.

She reached out to hold his larger arms, feeling her vision blur with the tears that filled her eyes.

“T-Tony?” She began to stammer. “Tony? Tell me you are joking.”

He looked away, avoiding her eyes.

A teardrop found its way down her cheek now. “Tony? Why have you rejected me? We have been in love with each other for years. How can you just leave me here, and now, on our wedding day?”

“I don't want to talk about this, Jenny.” He muttered under his breath as they locked eyes. She could feel the determination, and knew that hardly anything was going to make him change his mind. It was why he was an Alpha, after all.

“Is there someone else?”

He heaved a sigh.

“She's carrying my child.”

Jenny took a step back and put her hand to her forehead as sweat broke out on the skin of her face.

“You were cheating on me?”

At that moment, she wanted him to show regret, to be hurt that he was going to be the father of a baby that was not in her womb. She wanted him to say that he loved her, and that the child would not mean a thing to their love. She wanted him to say he loved only her, and no one else mattered, whether they were pregnant or not.

“I never loved you, Jenny.” He spoke slowly, his expression stone cold, nothing in it to show the woman he spoke to that he was still the man she was fated to. “All of this… this wedding… this love… It was only a deal to me, and now I have somebody I want. I cannot do this.”

Her eyes followed him as he spun around, walking away, and she did not know why she did it, but her legs seemed to move out of their own accord, and she rushed to stand before him, stopping him from moving as the wedding guests turned spectators came to hold her, at least to stop her from doing something she would regret.

“You can't do this to me, Tony. I love you, and only you.” She pleaded, standing in front of him with tears in her eyes.

Those words were no lie, and had come from the deepest oceans of her heart, words of unadulterated passion and devotion to her Alpha, who seemed set on ruining their special day which she had spent so long dreaming of.

And then, the final straw that broke the camel's back.

He flung her aside, so that she fell to the floor with a scream, her wedding dress sweeping the floor clean as she remained where she lay, crying, unable to face the world without the Alpha she had loved with all her heart.

People gathered around her in a circle, their voices asking if she was okay, and she wanted to yell at them and scream that she was not. How could she be, when the one she had loved for years had just told her he did not love her, that another woman was carrying his child, and that their wedding was only a deal to him?

Such painful words from a man she loved with all her heart.

The side of her head hurt, and Jenny put her hand to it, feeling it stick there. When she pulled it back, the bright red blood was there on her hand, but it . There was a worse wound in her heart, one that hurt most when she saw that Tony did not look back when he threw her to the side without much thought.

Not even the scream she let out when he pushed her away had brought his attention to her. The Tony she had loved would have cared, and come back to her. This one did not spare her as much as a glance.

Around her, everyone gathered around the newest rejected female werewolf, and with the broken image she cut sitting there on the floor, she was the very image of pity.

Within her, there was a lonely sound from her inner wolf, letting out a slow, pained whine.

Her vision blurred, and only then did she realise that she had been crying.
