Raising an Army

The anxiety filled me from head to toes. I had never tried casting a spell on an animal, much less a spell which I described in my mind alone. Although I could feel my magic flowing, and I thought that I was actually communicating with that raven, I had no chance to confirm if it obeyed me. It was hard to acknowledge that the lives of my loved ones depended on whether I was able to put a spell on that bird properly. Even thinking about it sounded absurd. But I ran out of options. I had to rely on something ludicrous. Of course, I was certain that if my bizarre plan worked, Mr. Hitchcock would appreciate it…

I believed that Samil would soon discover that I was kidnapped, but it wouldn't change the fact that there were still snipers around the Sirio Corporation building, aiming at him. I also knew that, since Samil hadn't had much time managing the company recently, he might as well have spent the whole night in that conference room, discussing the urgent issues with Mr. Romer
