They brought me to their car. I got inside and I kept thinking what to do. I needed to find a way to inform Samil. I had to tell him that he was in danger, and that Grandma's and Asher's lives were in jeopardy as well. I couldn't use my phone since I had to hand it over to one of the Donells' men.
"You are a witch for God's sake! There has to be a way to send a message using magic!" I tried to force myself to think harder.
If it was a comic book, the main character would surely use telepathy or something like that to connect with her loved one, but I had never heard of the way that the witch could send her thoughts to a specific mind at that.
It was exactly midnight when we arrived in front of Donell Entertainment's headquarters. I guessed they were so confident that they didn't even care to hide the place where all of their schemes took place. Then I looked closely and saw that the whole area seemed secluded, although it was the center of the city. I smirked, s
The anxiety filled me from head to toes. I had never tried casting a spell on an animal, much less a spell which I described in my mind alone. Although I could feel my magic flowing, and I thought that I was actually communicating with that raven, I had no chance to confirm if it obeyed me. It was hard to acknowledge that the lives of my loved ones depended on whether I was able to put a spell on that bird properly. Even thinking about it sounded absurd. But I ran out of options. I had to rely on something ludicrous. Of course, I was certain that if my bizarre plan worked, Mr. Hitchcock would appreciate it… I believed that Samil would soon discover that I was kidnapped, but it wouldn't change the fact that there were still snipers around the Sirio Corporation building, aiming at him. I also knew that, since Samil hadn't had much time managing the company recently, he might as well have spent the whole night in that conference room, discussing the urgent issues with Mr. Romer
I looked at the black cloud of ravens circling around the ceiling, and smiled at them. They had already done enough."Thank you. You can go," I whispered, admiring my army. The birds flew out of the window frames. The wind blew strongly. The pressure it made should have been hard to breathe, yet it didn't bother me at all. I stood still while Jason and his father were bending down, even though the birds had already flown away."What did you do?! Answer me!" Jason yelled while trying to stand up straight.I smirked, looking into his eyes. A second later, one of Brent Donell's men burst into the room."It's Wesley Adair, Sir…" he said when he entered, then he raised his eyes and froze. As soon as he saw the completely shattered windows, his boss bending down, and me, standing gloriously in the middle of the room, he became pale."M-master?" he muttered hesitantly.Brent Donell clenched his teeth in rage. Then he straighten
I told Elijah to park at the end of the street. I knew that the witches had already gathered around there, and it was nearly impossible to drive closer to the theatre without being noticed.Truthfully, I was terrified. I had never fought with any witches before. It was easier to use my magic against humans, but now I was going to face their magic against mine. Was I really strong enough to fight them all?I heard a lot that I was a witch from the prophecy, but I had no idea what it truly meant. I was learning about my abilities every day, and each day I was discovering something new. I kept expanding my limits, and I knew I was capable, but was that enough?I remembered how Mahala suddenly disappeared right in front of my eyes. I still had no idea how she had done it. From the lessons she had given me, I could already realize how knowledgeable and experienced witch she was. I was still afraid that I could have tragically underestimated the real power of the elde
Sister wearing a long, purple gown looked slightly as if she had run out of the costume party. I kept wondering whether she would feel strange stepping into the outside world after centuries of being imprisoned. Although she claimed that she had been familiar with the progress and development that the world had made all those years, it must have been different looking at it with her own eyes. If I were her, I would have been fascinated and scared, yet she seemed to be more concerned with Samil than with her new surroundings.I kept telling myself that it might have been because Samil was one of the Bordas, and she claimed that she hated their family, but it wasn't hatred that I had seen on her face. It was rather… longing. The more I caught her glimpsing at him, the more I found it annoying. I even started to regret that I took her to the hospital with me. Perhaps I should have asked someone to drive Sister to my apartment first. Of course, I also knew that I would hav
Samil took Sister and me to my apartment. While driving, he turned out to be surprisingly considerate towards Sister and even sent someone to get clothes, shoes, and other basic stuff for her to accommodate comfortably in her new environment. Perhaps I should be glad that he was helpful, but I couldn't help it. It just bothered me more and more. I tried not to show it, yet keeping a smile on my face was no longer possible. Unlike me, Samil was… smiling. He was smiling towards Sister. I had noticed it a few times, and it instantly brought chills to my spine. He'd never been so submissive to me, and now, Sister said a single word, and he immediately made a phone call to get her what she wanted!I felt completely left out in a conversation while we were in the car. If I had been an outsider, I would have thought that she was Samil's girlfriend, not me. I didn't like it in the slightest. I kept telling myself that there were more important things to handle, things concerni
I was exhausted from too much thinking. I was anxious, but I had to pretend that everything was all right in front of Sister. I didn't want her to jeopardize our alliance right before that big fight. It was something I couldn't afford. I wished Sister goodnight while wearing a perfect smile. I saw her casually lying in bed and closing her eyes. I wished I could fall asleep as peaceful as she did.I tossed and turned in bed, hearing my pounding heart. I was terrified. If Sister's magic wasn't effected by the power of the seal, it could mean that her abilities were far beyond mine. It could mean that Sister's magic was great enough to defeat the demonic power within the seal, and as far as I was concerned, no witch had ever done it. How could I consider myself as a witch from the prophecy then?I wasn't that arrogant to think of myself as the most powerful witch in the world. I had never craved for power. I just wanted to feel confident about winning, and now I was becom
It was dawning when Sister finished her story. We managed to drink three bottles of wine, but certainly we didn't have to worry about getting drunk or having a hangover. Lack of sleep couldn't bother us either. That was the upper side of being a witch. After the whole night of talking, we used a few spells to improve our looks. Then I made us breakfast, and we were ready to work on making the cor inane for Samil's men. Chris showed up after 10 AM and brought the clothes and other things for Sister. Then his men delivered thousands of crystals, some for the amulets and some to make a powder that can be used on bullets. There was a lot of work ahead of me and Sister. For the first time, I was glad that Samil wasn't around. I felt more at ease then. I didn't have to worry about my boyfriend's peculiar behavior. I wasn't sure if he'd act the same way the next time he and Sister met, but I'd rather not think about it at the time...Sister was friendly towards everyon
There was a road outside the forest. It led straight to the witches' castle. It looked like a fortress. It had high stone walls around it, and an enormous iron gate at the front. Samil walked at the front. Sister and I were right behind him, and the rest of the soldiers marched in formation, moving towards the gate while constantly fighting off the witches. Finally, we forced the witches to run back to their castle. They ran to the gates, banging on them and desperately crying to those in charge to open the entrance. Yet Mahala and the rest of the witches in charge were deaf to their pleading voices. They would rather let them die at those gates than open them. I gave Sister a signal, nodding my head, and we hit those witches with our magic, making them fall into a coma."Chris, get the explosive to blast those gates," Samil ordered."Understood," Chris replied, then abruptly turned around to get the bombs ready."Wait!" I called out, "There's no need for that.
