Chapter Seven

                                                          The Penthouse

                                                             "Mia's POV"

My heart beats fast when my dad opens the door of my room, I was really scared when he moves his foot inside my room and Kelly tried to stop him from coming in but she can't.

I almost tremble, my whole body shakes, and I stop breathing. I was hiding under my bed, and I'm just watching their foot walk. Then, he holds the hem of the blanket of my bed and pulls it up.

I almost cry. He was about to peek under the bed but I heard many footsteps came in.

"Police officer, help me. That man came into my house without my permission! He even pushed me just to come in, please arrest him" I heard Kelly begged.

My dad released the blanket, I saw his feet move to the police.

"I'm just looking for my daughter and I bet she's here. I'm sure about it" he explained to the officer.

"Don't you know that trespassing is a crime? But you are old to be ignorant about the law." Kelly mocks him.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense." The police officer said.

They dragged my dad out of this house, I stayed under the bed for a minute.

"Mia? Mia? Where are you? They are gone now, you can go out from where you are hiding right now." Kelly shouted.

I quickly went out under the bed and fixed my tangled clothes.

"There you are! I'm glad that he didn't find you there, luckily the police are fast to come" she excitedly said. I smiled at her and hugged her tightly.

"Thank you so much, Kelly. You are the best! Wo ai ni (I love you)." I said.

She removes my hand from her.

"Sorry girl, you are not my type. I like men" she teased, and turn away and walk. I picked my pillow and throw it at her and hits her.

She turns to me and picks it up then we had a pillow fight until we both get tired. We lie down on the bed, she turns her head to me and asked, "what is your plan?"

"I'm still planning to move out," I replied.

"I see. Then, I come with you" she said.

"Kelly, you don't have to. Your work is here, you have to stay" I explained.

"How about you?" she asked.

"I will be fine being alone, besides you can pay a visit to me anytime you want," I suggested.

"Alright. Have you found a place where you can stay?" she asked.

"Not yet" I answered disappointedly.

She fished her phone into her pocket.

"Let me show you this," she said and show me a rental penthouse located in the next city.

"Wooooow! You're really amazing!! It's good and cheap, Where'd you know about this?" I asked her with amazement.

"It's just a small thing, my dear. I just found it because of my manager, he usually browses on the internet and looks for an apartment or penthouse every week," she replies excitedly.

"But why?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I don't know, but I feel like he's hiding a person to the rents of the houses."  she gossips then we both laugh.

We're laughing when Kelly's phone rung, she looks at the screen of her phone then glances at me. "Speaking" she whisper.

"Aww. I'm sorry James, I'm out of town right now. What? Hello? Hello? I can't hear you. He---also" she said then hung up.

"Does he called because of your work?" I asked.

"No. He's just asking me to accompany him to buy a new house" she answered.

"Again?" I asked, then she nods.

"Let's go now, I will accompany you today," she said.

We carry all the boxes of my things to my car and cleaned the house before we leave. Kelly volunteer to drive me through the city.

It's been an hour of driving before we reached the place, we met the agent of the rental penthouse and settled the payment.

I look around the place and I found out that the penthouse is located in a tall building and across the front has also a tall building.

We ride on the elevator to move my things in the penthouse, my room is located on the 15th floor.

I open the door, and I was amazed to see the room. It was really gorgeous. This is 3 times bigger than my room. We came in and put the box down, I turn around and saw an expensive piece of furniture. Its color compliment the color of the wall.

The living room has a big balcony. I walked inside to check the room and comfort room. It was really amazing, all the items here are expensive yet they still rent it cheap.

"Wow! I never knew that this looks good than the picture they posted" Kelly said with amazement.

"Me too. It was amazing!" I giggle. Kelly turns to me.

"Can I visit you often?" She asked.

"Sure, you're always welcome to my place," I said.

"So, let's continue moving out?" she said.

"Sure" I replied.

We came down and carry the boxes to put them inside the house, we move all things in two hours.

"Kelly, why don't you sleep here for tonight? Since it's getting late" I suggest.

"Don't tell me you'll gonna miss me, huh?" she teased.

"Of course, you're my best friend and we've been block mates for many years. I'm gonna miss you, dear." I told her honestly.

"Don't miss me too much" she said and laugh. "But I have to leave now," she said.

"Why you don't like to stay here?" I asked.

"I want to, but I have to settle first about your dad's issue at the police station. I need to give proofs so that he can't bail out easier." she laughs and wink at me.

"Okay. Let me send you to home" I volunteered.

"No need. James is waiting for me downstairs, you don't have to worry" she said and walks while waving her hands.

"Kelly's POV"

I dialed James's number but he didn't answer my calls, I put back my phone in my pocket. I lied to Mia that James would pick me up but he didn't cause I don't want her to worry.

I tried to call a cab but it seems that I'm unlucky today to get a cab, I walk for a while and waited.

Until I notice a red Ferarri car stops at the tall building next to the house where Mia's renting, I waited for who's the owner of this car. It opens and I was shocked to see Sky and his friend who kissed Mia at the lounge.

I walk near them, the two men were shocked to see me.

"Kelly? What are you doing here?" Sky asked.

"Why? Do you own this place?" I asked him back, he didn't answer. "That man looks very familiar," I said.

"What do you mean?" the man asked.

"As far as I remember, you are the man who takes advantage of my drunk friend before," I said, his eyes grew big.

"You! Pervert!" I pointed at him.

"Kelly, it's no good pointing out someone you just met" Sky reminded me, I glanced at Sky.

"Sky, you better shut up your mouth if you can't say the truth. My eyes will never go wrong and my memories will never deceive me" I said.

"Really? If your memory will not deceive you, how come that you don't see the truth or even recognize what is right?" he asked. I stop for a moment and think about what happened before.

"Stop saying nonsense! Remind your pervert friend to stay away from MY FRIEND!" I command him.

"Miss, I'm not a pervert" he defends.

"If you're not a pervert what are you doing here? Why are you following us?" I asked him.

"Kelly, we're not following you" Sky rebutted.

"Stop, I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to him" I pointed out to his friend.

"I lived here," he said calmly.

"And he owns this whole place" Sky added.

"WHAT?!!!!" I asked, my eyes grew bigger. This can't be, Mia might blame me if she finds out that this man is the landlord of this building. What should I do?

Sky came to me and whispered, "I don't own this place but my friend owns it, so I have a reason why I am here." my breath become slow and I felt my heart beats fast.

I pushed him, "Don't come near me" I told him. I turn back and walk away from him.

"Hey, where are you going?" Sky shouted at me.

"It's none of your business" I shouted back at him, I continued walking and I felt someone holds my wrist.

"I will send you back, It's hard to call a cab at this hour," he said calmly, he pulled me and my feet just follows him.
