Noah's POV

Being able to hold power was one thing but I have never had to deal with fear when that power was threatened by a bunch of assholes. Most times everyone thought I was the villain. I'm just a victim like every pack in the city.

The rogue that did this to her managed to flee but what was more important was trying to get Claire to safety. If I have had any form of control, she was one way to test it, I was not willing to let that go just yet. She was an asset.

Claire was drifting in and out of her consciousness. The arrow punctured a vein in her right shoulder. I was still holding her trying to keep her awake with me because it felt like I was pulling at the very last straw. First I was nearly poisoned, now, she was almost being killed.

Under my watch!

The guards were still trying to scout the area for any rogues. The ones we captured, we have thrown them into the dungeon for more investigations. I found myself panicking most of the time as Claire screamed her lungs out, there

I don't want anything tracing me back to Alfred." I smiled at him as he whined. When I decided I wanted to go into town in search of the truth. I had to make him my accomplice in this. I could not risk bumping into Noah or any of his men. If anyone loved the idea of being careful, it was Aaron. Freda's POV Aaron was the one driving after we found the location on the GPS. I have always known that I had a relative somewhere, but when I was placed into group homes, I always hoped that one of them was going to show up. Dad spoke about having a sister. He always reminded me that I came from somewhere, but it was too late before I got to see any of them. His life was cut short before I knew it. My thoughts were that they probably didn't want to hang around with me. Taking on the sole responsibility of taking on a relative and being responsible for your own child could be a lot. Not to mention someone else's child. "Do you know what this aunty is like?" I shook my head immediately. "I have tried to jog my memory. Remembering if there was ever a time when I saw her. The truth is, my Dad always spoke of his siblings as people he cherished, but they never came around the house once. Neither did we go over. I guess we are just satisfied with each other." My relatives' address was

Freda'a POV I didn't know the next words to say. Nothing of this sounded like my mother. At least the way I imagined her to be, there was only one explanation for what might have happened to her. Maybe she just wasn't believed; maybe there were creatures after her, and it wasn't something she could make them understand. "It can't be." It can't be. I said it in my mind over and over. I knew two truths could coexist, but the other part of the truth wasn't something I was willing to accept. It was too much for me, and I could feel the tension rising inside me. The siren in my lungs was clogged; I couldn't breathe. I kept staring at the picture, hoping to find something else, contrary to what I was hearing from Roberta. "I'm afraid so." No, you do not understand; the only time Dad spoke of her was when I was still very little. There was so much glee in his eyes that it felt like there was something precious about her to hold on to. You can't tell me that she committed suicide when t

Freda's POV We finally got home. On the way home, my mind wandered about just how much danger I was in. We were in. We made the Uber stop halfway in a row, so we kept walking till the estate was in view. "When we step outside, we are not safe anymore," I whispered. Aaron sighed. "That's how it is for creatures like us. Welcome to our world." He sounded joyful, which made me grimace. "I didn't think I had officially welcomed you into our world." "For how long have you been a werewolf?" "I stopped acting five years ago. Life has been pretty mysterious ever since." He chuckled. I didn't understand why he was so cool about it. We were almost killed, and we still didn't know why or who. "How do you stay calm?? "What do you mean?" I stopped behind him, trying to make sense of it all. "We were almost killed hours ago. You have been acting all cryptic since we got to my supposed aunt's house. You didn't take your coffee, and you were in a hurry to leave. Now, after facing death in th

Freda's POV His accusation left me mortified. "Watch your words, young lady, I won't hesitate to render you speechless right now." He tucked his hands into each other facing me with so much anger. This was what I was trying to explain to Aaron all day. Alfred was good at these assumptions that could cloud the person's real personality for the longest time. His words have always had a sharp edge, they always cut through my existing wounds. "You haven't seen me all day and you just assume that I ran away with Aaron?" "It seemed like it. If it isn't, why didn't you answer the question I asked you on the phone." My insides were suddenly filled with rage. Yes, he might be angry but I was ready to lash out at him. I could deal with anything but what I can't deal with was false accusations. "Well, good evening to you mister. Yes, I ran off just so I would stay away from you for just a minute. You know when I am around you, I just cannot breathe. It is like I am suffocating, I can't h

Freda's POVThe hurt on Alfred's face from the last argument we had haunts me during the day. Noah's monstrosity haunts me at night, in the worst place I ever want to be: my dreams. It was all I could think about. Sometimes I never slept because I felt Noah and Alfred would be lurking at night. I was already seeing Noah in the worst possible ways. How hard could it be? Something told me I hadn't seen the real face of danger yet. The torture I have faced by the same man I have feelings for might get worse if I fall into the hands of another.Out of fear, I decided to give my apology to Alfred. I was staring at the door of the study, breathing. I knew he was in there, and I had no doubt he could sense me by now. Yet there was this fear that gripped me, making me sluggish in my decisions.I finally knocked, but he didn't reply. I opened the door regardless."Hey, good morning. I haven't seen you for days. I figured I should check on how you are doing." His eyes were focused on his laptop

Freda's POVI had some cash with me, and I stared around, hoping to get something that might catch my eye. Literally, everything was just as radiant and new in the jewelry store. Ever since I arrived at the mansion, even in the early months, I had no belongings of my own. It felt like I was starting afresh, but the last few days have proven otherwise because my past has always found its way to catch up with me.I stared at the jewelry, running my hands through it. I saw a rare one that had sapphires on it. It was Silver. I touched it but immediately removed my fingers as the sizzling started, accompanied by a nasty pain."Ouch!" I blew some air on my fingers as the jeweler rushed to my sides."I'm sorry, ma'am. There are gloves for this; it is silver, just in case you want to buy it for a loved one.""Why do you sell silver products when you know this is a pack?" I hissed. "I'm so sorry, ma'am. Due to popular demand, I do have a jewelry store in the city. It just got mixed up." I sho

Her eyes were swollen and red, and I could easily tell that she had been crying."Oh, thank goodness. You are awake. With the hit you took, I wasn't sure you were going to be awake anytime soon."I sat up, wincing as my head continued to bang continuously. "I'm supposed to be dead. If I remember correctly, I was being stoned for being called a witch. I am innocent, by the way.""Nah, you are not dead, and I believe you. It was my fault for letting you accompany me to the fair and leaving you alone." She sniffed, wiping a trail of tears that fell out of her eyes."Hey, you fought for me. You didn't force me to accompany you; I wanted to. Everything that has happened to me is entirely my fault." I remembered that I didn't just see her; I also saw Alfred Top, who didn't flinch as I was half-beaten to death. There was a sharp pain in my abdomen and my arms. As I adjusted on m

Freda's POV "Kale we have to do something, I am tired of waiting." I gritted in anger as everything flooded my face. The melody of one entering the mansion and the sudden seeking of me losing him. I haven't been able to sleep because I saw him in my dreams from time to time. Most times, tortured. Other times because he wanted to break. It wasn't hard to know that he was not having the best time of his life. "Kaden will be here soon, we can't do anything without him. He has the book." My emotions became so unstable, I could only feel the wind holding my hair in the air as I became so angry. "Freda?! Control, you have to control yourself." I felt Vanna's hands on me. I snapped out of my anger, seeing how everything was so disoriented. I felt so numb, falling to my seat. I couldn't bring myself to feel pain, that was all I was feeling for the past few days since Alfred surrendered himself. "I don't know why he would surrender himself. He doesn't have the right to give up like tha

Freda's POV It was clear that he could see through me. My pain was not something I could hide no matter how much I tried. "If you want to lie to me, look me in the eye and do it with courage." I tried but I couldn't. I sighed. I think I was doing that too often because sometimes my emotions were more than words and I just couldn't express it at times. "You haven't been forthcoming with your emotions since the last time we argued. What is jerking you up at night? I don't recall knowing I feel something is going on and you don't want to bother me or something. I love you, Alfred but I do not want you to suffer alone." I asked him. If he was hopefully going to let me in on what was happening, maybe I would be able to find the words as to why I was feeling that way. There was no word yet that would simplify all of what I was seeking at that point. He feigned confusion. "What are you talking about?" I placed my hands on his chest and paused. Where do I begin? I asked myself. "You'v

  • A Human Mate For The Lycan King   Chapter 155: The Luna Ceremony

Freda's POV It was time for the Luna ceremony and I didn't even have time for myself. I enjoyed every bit of it that I didn't want to end. The bonfire afterward was the funniest, we got to share experiences and sing a lot of folk songs. The goal, according to Alfred, was to bring the old tradition back and make sure it stayed with us. That way, we get to teach the next generation the values we uphold not just as an individual, but as a pack. It was my favorite part of the ceremony other than the initiation. During the initiation, I saw the knife and the way everyone had to draw blood out of their skin. The pain on my lingered for a while but it still didn't heal like it used to. Alfred held my hand and wrapped a gauze on it immediately. He always paid attention to little details which I appreciated. It didn't take time but I was bound to the pack by blood now. My strength was their strength and my weakness was their weakness. I was expecting a more barbaric act to this, but then I

Freda's POV Early this morning, we both had a moment after our fight. It was a moment that was burnt in my memory. I had the best night of my life and it all happened unexpectedly. Feeling him that close was what I have always wanted and it finally did. I had to swallow my moans so I wouldn't be too loud but Alfred didn't seem to care. At first, he was gentle with me before went tough on me. The journey of love was never-ending, no matter how hard we tried to ignore it. After the realization of last night, I really wanted to take the day off considering that we were not able to take our hands off each other. I was still feeling sore, even after being inside him a few minutes before dawn. I was drifting in and out of sleep but he kept me close to him the entire night and in the morning. He let me sleep, down until when I found the need to freshen up. "Just relax," he whispered in my ear. "There's plenty of time to do that." I was too tired to reply to him or protest against him

Freda's POV I decided to take Vanna's advice. If I really wanted to know the truth it was best I confirmed the issue. All the worry I had kept inside me wasn't worth my sanity. It was the early hours of the morning and stretched my hands to the other side of the bed only to not find him there. Yet, another night when did not come to the bed, it was almost like he was avoiding me. Which I hated, was he spending his time with Claire? Thinking about it made me jealous to some point that I quickly jumped off the bed in search of him. Why on earth would he be avoiding me? I asked myself over and over. I scheme through the hallway, heading to the study. There was no way he would be anywhere else. I opened the door barging in without knocking. He was drowning himself in alcohol with a bottle of vodka at the side. He was going through some papers, before looking up at me. "You are supposed to be sleeping, Freda." Hearing him call my name sounded more odd than anything else. "You are sup

Freda's POV VANNA wasn't expecting me yesterday but I had to go see her. I wanted to know how she was settling in since she just got herself this place. She was no longer living in the mansion with us.. I found it tiring since all I had to do was rest. There wasn't really anything to do there but I still had my usual fear about times ahead. Alfred had been with me since the beginning of it all. I thought this day was still far ahead when he brought up the topic of the ceremony last night. Since Kale was back, Alfred wanted to pronounce me as his Luna by performing the ceremony. I didn't think it was this soon but I took it one step after the other. There was no room for overwhelming feelings or doubts, that was all I had though. After his ex showed up, Diane was dead. I just wanted to live in denial for a while. Coming to see Vanna, helped in a way. The Luna ceremony was one of a kind especially if the Luna was going to be initiated into the pack. It was imperative that I do it

Freda's POVI couldn't believe what I heard. I felt the worst was happening to me all over again.Worst of all, it was from Alfred, it was all coming from him."You are telling me right now that your ex has been living with us here in the pack and I just know about it?"Alfred sighed trying to pull me into his embrace. I pushed his hands before he touched me. "You do not understand but I wished I could explain, I just have to go to her right now."I felt my heart drop listening to him. This conversation was clearly important but he was choosing to ignore this just to attend to his needs."This is clearly as important as going to meet her Alfred. You have been cheating on me and you have finally made her pregnant?" I was running several scenarios over time as I pictured them together. There was nothing but pain and this crazy tightness in my chest. I have still not recovered and another pain was added to mine. "No no no. I didn't make her pregnant. I never cheated on you. Alfred's POV We held each other close for the better part of the day. Freda had injured herself not once or twice because of harnessing her powers. I hated seeing her hitting herself because she was trying to prove that she could live up to her family's legacy. The doctor claimed that she could go home and there wasn't any reason to keep her here. That was okay with me, her healing abilities were slow and it wasn't a good time to master. I was able to see that beautiful smile again, the lovely goofy attitude. It was certain that she was warming up to be a pain in my neck as usual there wasn't much we were able to say to each other. Our silence held so many words that our hearts were meaning to say. There wasn't much to know about each other because we'd given out union all the parts of ourselves. It was something that came naturally to us. At least right now I am aware that she has given it all from her end, just as I have and there would not be anything holding us back. I love Fre

  • A Human Mate For The Lycan King   Chapter 149: A Man Of Taste

Alfred's POV There was serenity in his study. Kaden was an extravagant man, it was clear in the clothes he wore and the way he carried himself. The rumours surrounding him were eventful and no one really knew what was true or lies. Kden loved such thoughts that he welcomed them without clearing the air. Most say he is older than he looks, others say that he was favored by the Fates, and his mom was a respected witch but no one really had NO idea what his mother looked like. Only that she was a slave living under the fist of his father who had died mysteriously. What I did know was that he took the cafe to his father, not in the way ordinary minds would expect. Then he was better than him.The problem between two powerful people occupying the room was that no one was ready to bring down the shoulder for the other. We were both ruthless in our own way and we respected that. I spotted the bar at the side of his elaborate study. "Nice bar. I see the way you arranged your drinks. Qu
