One month later, the space ship had successfully entered into the orbit of ‘The Lycan World’
“Wohoooo!!” Vivian screamed as she jumped out of her seat, only to be pulled back again by the harness.
“Ouch!!” She exclaimed, rubbing her waist.
“Calm down, Vivi. We don’t want to destroy the spaceship before completing our mission.” Ruza said, pulling down a large lever.
The screen flashed, ‘Stealth Mode Activated.’
“Ru…Ru…Ru….Give me that Telecamera quickly. I can’t wait to see what is on the planet.”
“Not at all, Vivi. I am not going to risk this. You are so excited that you will end up breaking this.” Ruza refused sternly.
Vivian sat quietly, pouting her lips and crossing her arms while Ruza set everything up. She unbuckled the harness and walked to a corner of the spaceship.
A small slot was ejected when she pressed a button. The moment she placed the Telecamera in the slot, it slid back in.
Ruza shook her head when she saw Vivian’s forlorn expression. Ruza wondered how Vivian became an astronaut. She got angry and excited just like a child but she was innocent just like a child too.
Ruza’s lips stretched in a wide smile as she said, “Vivi, don’t be upset. I have connected the device to your IAD. Please stream it on the screen.”
“Really, You are awesome.” She exclaimed and got to work.
The screen lit up with the image of the planet below. The camera was equipped with hundreds of lenses, which gave them a 360* view of everything around it.
“Damn! The stealth shield is so effective.” Vivian said, clapping her hands.
“How do you know? Maybe we are at such an angle; the device can’t capture it.”
“Wait a minute, hun,” Vivian muttered as she tapped some icons.
The left thumbnail displayed a redlight. She pointed at the screen and said, “See, that is the emergency warning light from our spaceship.”
“You are right. It is terrific. I wonder why Mr. Dixon changed our space ship to the latest one. Do you think we will find dangerous creatures on this planet?”
“I hope not!” Vivian said, shuddering at the thought of pictures she had seen of a planet named Xerra. It was covered with giant plants that ate flesh. She shook her head to get rid of those images and focused on the screen.
Suddenly the camera zoomed in on a particular region. Two beefy men were uprooting a tree. The muscles of their arms flexed as they pulled it right out of the ground.
Vivian turned around to see Ruza drooling. Snapping her fingers in front of Ruza’s eyes, she said, “I thought you had a boyfriend, girl.”
“I will dump him if I can get any one of them.”
Vivian chuckled as she looked at the screen again. The men were really hot but weren’t they supposed to watch the live footage from the Telecamera. Why was this playing?
“As much as I hate to say this, don’t you think you should stop this video and play the footage from the Telecamera?” Ruza said, realizing the same thing.
“But hey! Don’t delete this one. I want to feast my eyes during the return journey. If I can look at them, one month will feel like one minute.” Ruza said dreamily, and they both burst out laughing.
Vivian squealed and jumped to her feet. This time she had managed to get off the harness even in excitement.
“This can’t be happening! There is something wrong with our baby; let’s run the security checks.”
Ruza’s forehead creased in a frown, but she started running a check on all aspects of the spaceship.
“There is nothing wrong, Vivi….” Ruza stopped talking when she saw the stupefied expression on Vivian’s face.
She followed her line of sight to see the two men sitting on the trunk of the tree they had uprooted a while ago.
Did Vivian start liking hunky men too? Why hadn’t she changed the video yet?
“Sweet baby bunnies!” She exclaimed when she finally caught on. The landscape was not like anything found on Earth; instead, it was identical to the landscapes predicted for the Lycan world.
“I am not dreaming right, Ru pinch me.”
“Ouch!!” Vivian screamed in pain when Ru actually pinched her.
“You dumb headed girl! I didn’t ask you to pinch me for real.” Vivian seethed, rubbing her arm.
“Sorry, I needed to ensure that I wasn’t dreaming too.”
Vivian glared at her before getting back to her work.
“Let us start making our report Ru. I can see our names being written in History with Golden letters. Who would have thought?
For the next few hours, they were engrossed in preparing a detailed report on the Bipeds found on the Lycan World.
“Vivi, I can see their lips moving. Do you think they might be talking to each other? If they are conversing, how would their language be?”
“Hmmm…I have been wondering that too. The Telecamera is good, but it gives us the view of the people in open areas, which seem to be few on this planet.”
“At least they haven’t ruined the nature like the Earthlings,” Ruza said, sighing deeply.
“We need to find more, Ru. We have come so close to this planet. If we return without concrete information, it would be a waste.”
Ruza’s eyes widened as she asked, “What are you planning, Vivi?”
“I want to go down!”
“No way! Did you forget Mr. Dixon’s instructions? We can’t land without his permission.”
“Then, let us ask for his permission.” She typing out a short message.
### Bipeds like human found, Seeking permission to land and investigate.###
As soon as she clicked the send button, the screen flashed with the following details.
The time needed for message delivery: 3 days
The time needed for getting a reply: 7 days
“That is quite a bit of time for getting a simple reply. What will we do till then? It is all because of you, Ruza…”
“Vivi, I know you are excited to find more about the men in The Lycan World, but better safe than sorry.
If we take permission and land, Mr. Dixon will keep reinforcements ready in case something goes wrong.”
“Hmmm…” Vivian said, pursing her lips.
“Till then, let us watch the show!” Ruza said with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Vivian couldn’t help smiling at this. She said, “It is too bad we don’t have popcorn.
“But we have energy-pills,” Ruza said, popping one into her mouth and handing another one to Vivian.
Vivian looked at it with distaste before putting it into her mouth, “Wish we had a way to get real food in space.”
“Vivi..”
“Hmmm…”
“Will you promise me something?”
“What?” She said, eyeing Ruza suspiciously.
“ Promise me that you won’t do anything reckless. You will return quietly if Mr. Dixon doesn’t permit us to land.”
Vivian was confident that Mr. Dixon would give them permission. He had permitted to explore Planet Vosta, which had an unfavorable atmosphere.
There was no reason for him to refuse permission to land on a planet similar to Earth. So, she said, “Okay, I promise.”
Vivian had been staring at the reply sent by her Supervisor for eternity. She still couldn’t understand why her Supervisor had refused to give permission.“How long will you keep looking at that message?” Ruza asked, placing her had on Vivian’s shoulders. Vivian let out the breath she was holding. She unbuckled the harness and stood up. “ You are right. There is no use staring
Vivian sucked in her breath when she saw two men walk towards her. Both of them were well built and very tall, she had to crane her neck to look at them. They must have been over seven feet. Her mouth hung open in wonder. They were a sight to behold with their rugged look. Vivian looked away in embarrassment as her eyes fell on their bare chests. They were chiseled to perfection. “How can someone be so good looking.” She muttered under her breath.
Vivian’s face had turned red due to exertion. Sweat trickled down her forehead, and her chest heaved up and down in an unsuccessful attempt to draw in more air. The muscles of her legs throbbed, and she felt a pain shoot through her lungs, but she didn’t dare to stop. If she stopped or slowed down, they would catch her.Her heart came to her mouth when she heard the sounds of footsteps approaching from behind. She looked around frantically, searching for a place to hide.
“Ahhh!!!” A scream escaped her mouth as tears streamed down her face. The pain was just too much to bear. “Please, leave me… I will walk fast…please…” Vivian begged as she looked at him with an agonized expression. Sandilo felt an ache grip his heart when he saw her pained expression. Her whimpers sent waves of pain through him as if he was feeling the pain himself.
She gulped as she looked at him. He didn’t seem like someone you could refuse. Her mind veered to the time she had to take off her clothes when attacked by a Roostaglosses, on planet Xena. It had drenched her with acidic saliva, and she would have died due to itching if she hadn’t taken her clothes off. But that was a different case. She wasn’t stripping in front of a drop-dead gorgeous man.
Vivian ran nonstop for a long time, weaving her way through the thick clumps of trees and bushes. Suddenly, she was assaulted by a deadly stench. She pinched her nose with her fingers and quickened her pace but then halted suddenly. This smell was familiar. It smelled exactly like the corpse flower. She remembered how Sandilo had sniffed before tracking her. If she applied the juice of this flower on her, he wouldn’t be able to follow her.
After several attempts, Vivian finally gave up on trying to escape. She had tried to escape seven times to be precise.Sandilo always sniffed her out; rather, he had become quite efficient. The last time she tried to escape, Sandilo found her in a record five minutes, and she was glad that he did. Vivian shuddered as she thought about the incident. Yesterday night she decided to try her luck once more. Tho
Vivian sat there, staring into nothing for a long time after Sandilo went. The vision of Sandilo morphing into a wolf was still fresh in her mind. She wondered how she was still alive? Why did he hug her? Why did he storm out after a while? These questions were driving her crazy. She resolved to confront him once he returned. She had had enough of all this confusion and drama. If he wanted to kill her, eat her; Why didn’t he get over with it?A strong gust of wind blew in through the window, making Vivian shiver with cold. She rubbed her hands invol
