It was like time stopped. My mouth became dry like sandpaper and my heart was pounding in my chest. I tried to speak but could not as one of the officers placed handcuffs on my wrists. I am not going to lie, I had always wondered once or twice a year how I would look in a jail uniform. It did not cross my mind a lot, but it had a couple of times. There was no need to wonder again because I was now wearing one; a jail uniform. It was a jumpsuit and it had a solid gray color. I wore crocs most of the time on my feet and I kept my hair in a messy bun almost all the time. The food here was not bad but also not good. But I guess that was prison life.It was way less scary than I thought. But in saying that, I was not trying to say that it was a flower garden either, I was still sh*t scared most of the time. Prisons were a place where criminals and bad people were held as a way to pay for their wrongs and be given the opportunity to change and become better. I heard a small ringing noise in my ear and then voices. The voices would get louder for one second and just suddenly get very low. My breathing was leveled and my eyes were closed. I felt a dull pain in my throat and my body felt heavy. In a few seconds, I opened my eyes slowly and the light blinded my vision. It did not take long and my eyes adjusted to the light around me and I realized that I was in a room. One of them had a small notepad in her hand and a pen in the other while the other nurse had some medical instruments in her hand. I think I knew what was in her hands but I forgot the names. A guard stood at the door as I sat across Zayn. We tried to hug each other but were told to refrain from physical contact. So we only relished being in the same room as each other. Usually, when I had visitors, I would be taken to a room to meet them. Other inmates were not given that privilege, it was only given to me because of who I was: the future queen of the demon people.
