Zayn seemed taken aback by what I said but he knew that I was right. He held me in his arms for a couple of seconds and then looked at me. “But what if I want you to be part of the decision-making?”

I smiled in response. “It’s not just about what you want, Zayn. It’s about what the city needs and deserves.”

“Thank you,” He kissed me on my lips. He then let go of me and led me to the view of the city that appeared from the floor-to-ceiling windows. “Take a look.” He pointed towards the city skyline.

It was beautiful and jaw-dropping. “Your parents would be proud of you.” I squeezed his hand gently.

“Yeah, for building all this with the help of my people from scratch. But do you think that they would be proud of me if I merge with Beacon?”

I sighed shakily and to be honest, I did not have the perfect answer. I just wanted to be there for him. I just wanted to be the fiancee and the best friend that he needed at that moment.
