Chapter 8 Susan's Tricks

"I'll return the car and house to you, just don't send me to jail!"

Soon, her words faded away.

I sat on the sofa, too afraid to move, worrying that my father might take out his anger on me for my part in hiding the truth.

Just then, my father came over, sitting beside me. He gently patted my back. "I'm sorry, my darling. I'm sorry you had to go through this."

I shook my head and said, "It's nothing."

After all, I had only just acknowledged him as my father—we had no emotional bond yet. Still, I couldn't let Susan take my place, regardless of how new our relationship was.

"Where will she go?" I asked, pointing in the direction Susan had been dragged away.

"I'll lock her up for now. Tomorrow, I'll decide what to do with her."

Even as we talked, my mind was spinning, wondering if my father would really send Susan to jail.

However, things took a turn when I woke up the next day.
