Sage gave him a puzzled look. "What do you think you're doing?"

"It's getting late. It's not safe for you to hail a cab on your own." Ian continued in a tone that left no room for discussion, "The driver's already waiting outside. Let's leave together."

Sage glanced at her wristwatch. "It's just slightly past 8:00 p.m. It's not that late. Besides, the security here is great. There's nothing to worry about."

His expression darkened. "You took care of me in Morita for so many days. I can't just leave you at the airport. Grandma will give me an earful if she finds out."

Sage was itching to tell him that it had nothing to do with her, but Ian was not going to let go of her. Besides, many onlookers were looking at them.

As she didn't want to embarrass herself in public, she said, "Fine. Let's go, but I'm heading back to the hotel."
