Married tO the Devil

Rex hurriedly went to stand beside Keith on the altar, wearing a straight face, and Keith gave him a questioning look.

“Relax, bro. She will be here soon.” Rex answered, nudging him. He knew the look his brother was giving him, and he answered his unspoken question.

Just then, Carolyn appeared at the entrance of the hall. She started walking down the aisle with a bunch of flowers in her hands. Her makeup was professionally redone, making her look like a fairy with the white veil cascading down her face.

Mary, Keith's aunt, who helped in finding the wife for her nephew, frowned a little upon seeing Carolyn. She couldn't see her face clearly because of the veil, but then she knew the bride wasn't supposed to be this slim, but she shrugged the thought off thinking she might have slimmed down due to the wedding stress. Unknown to her that this wasn't her chosen bride.

Carolyn eventually got to the altar with her heart beating crazily against her chest.

What if he noticed she wasn't his supposed bride? What will he do to her? Is he going to kill her? After all, this man is known as the devil. His ways are ruthless and mysterious. What will be her fate if he finds out about her identity? Carolyn's heart was in total mess.

She could only pray now that the said bride doesn't show up and ruin everything, or else she would be dead meat.

“I will have to come clean to him after this; else, if he finds out by himself, only the heavens know what will happen to me then.” She thought to herself and sighed.

She had only heard rumors about this mysterious man; never had she met him in person. Slowly she lifted her gaze to see his eyes. Immediately her throat went dry; she felt like licking him up like an arm candy.

He was damn too handsome to be a human. She had thought him to be a middle-aged man with an ugly-looking face and a portly belly due to the rumors she had heard, but damn, this man in front of her was a spitting image of a Greek god, with a perfectly built muscular body frame, even with his cold eyes he looked like a demigod.

“No, this man isn't human; he must be an alien. How could a human be this perfect?” All these thoughts were running through her head, and she didn't realize when her lips contorted into a beautiful smile.

Keith saw her smile, and he was a bit taken aback. Isn't she supposed to be scared of him? Why was she now smiling? He couldn't help but wonder.

He was used to people running away from him because of his mysterious aura and cold looks, but why wasn't this little woman in front of him like every other person he had come across? Where did his aunt get this woman from? For once, he was curious to know who she was.

Mrs. Davis, Keith's grandmother, was all smiles seeing the beautiful couples on the altar; finally, she was alive to witness this special day of her grandson's life. Her heart was leaping with excitement.

“Do you, Carolyn Kingston, take Keith Davis to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part?" The priest asked.

“Yes, I do, Carolyn answered.

The priest turned to Keith and asked him the same question; he stared at Carolyn for a little while before answering, “Yes, I do.”

“By the power vested in me by almighty God and the state of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife… you may now...”

Before the priest could finish his sentence or even blink an eye, the devil in all glory had already stepped down from the altar and started walking away without waiting for his new bride.

Carolyn was stunned. “What in God's name just happened?” She couldn't imagine what was her offence. She just stood there embarrassed watching her husband stride away without even looking back.

“Wow! What a way of welcoming me to the family.” She thought.

“Dickhead.” Rex cursed with a faint smile and went over to Carolyn. Please give me the honor of walking you back, Mrs. Davis.” Rex said.

On hearing Rex calling her Mrs. Davis, Carolyn couldn't help but smile sheepishly. The name was soothing to her ears; at least she was now a member of the most powerful family in the city.

She took Rex's hand and followed him out of the hall.

“What sort of a grandson is this? How could he abandon his wife on the altar without walking her out of the hall like every newly wedded couple does? Mrs. Davis lamented.

“You already know how he is; this isn't a new thing. Our prayer now is that Lilian should be able to win his heart and that she will be able to change him into a better person. This isn't a matter of seconds; it will take a lot of hard work and perseverance on her part to be able to make him into the man she wants. We should also plan to visit them soon. Aunt Mary said, and that calmed her heart a little.

However, in the SUV Carolyn couldn't help but steal a glance at the man sitting next to her, her husband, who had his eyes closed with his head resting on the car headrest.

How could he not have recognized his bride, or does he, but is pretending not to? What sort of a marriage have I gotten into?

“What was she even thinking? She isn't any different because she doesn't even know how her supposed groom looked, and never did she think she could escape from the so-called wedding and her evil aunt this easily.

“Here is your wedding certificate, Mrs. Davis. Sign here put in your details, and hand them back,” Rex said, handing Carolyn the file that she took from him.

Keith had already signed with his details input. She stared at the file in her hands absent-mindedly. She was confused about the details to put; should she continue being Lilian Barton, or should she use her details?

“Ah, this is ridiculous,” she sighed.

However, she ended up inputting her real details before handing it over to Rex.

She jumped as if she had just sat on pins when she saw Rex, wanting to open the file.

“Wait!” She half yelled.

And that got the devil to open his eyes.

“You look so dashing in this blue suit. Is blue your favorite color? If not I'd advise you to start wearing blue more often because it compliments your skin tone. I would also want to know where you got it so I can get it for my husband too. She said in one breath and Keith turned his piercing gaze on her, her actions were suspicious.

“Goodness, how did you know I love blue colors? Finally, I've got someone who compliments my hard work of looking good, unlike some people, hehe. I see we will be good friends.” Rex laughed mockingly.

“But Mrs. Davis, you can't get it for your husband, because he is the owner of the manufacturing company, and this piece was styled by his personal fashion designer. His name is Cade; he is very talented, and he's good at what he does.

Don't worry; as the boss lady, you will get to meet him sooner or later.” Rex said and kept the file without going through it, Carolyn heaved a sigh of relief, and that didn't pass without the devil noticing, and that got him thinking.

“Just who the hell is this woman?”.
