Eira’s POV
Seeing Kieran there made my heart race with panic. She had jumped by herself, ensuring he saw her fall. She was framing me for something I hadn’t done.
Wasn’t he supposed to be in the dining room? He had been waiting for me there. Why was he here now?
Even though Vanessa had fallen of her own accord, Kieran would believe me, wouldn’t he? He knows I would never do such a thing. I wasn’t that kind of person.
“Vanessa!” he shouted, rushing to her side without sparing me a glance.
I froze at the top of the stairs, and my breath caught in my throat. He cradled her in his arms as she clutched her belly, tears streaming down her face with calculated precision.
“Are you alright, Vanessa?” he asked, his voice filled with fear and concern.
“Our pup,” she whimpered. “I didn’t mean to come between you two. I even suggested leaving. Now harm has come to my baby. Maybe it would’ve been better if you got me a house outside, away from here. I don’t want to make the Luna uncomfortable.”
Her words were laced with an innocent veneer, but the accusation was clear. She was implying I’d pushed her.
“It wasn’t me,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “I didn’t do it.”
But when Kieran looked up, his eyes burned with rage. “You pushed her!” he snarled.
Before I could defend myself, he stormed up the stairs and shoved me hard. My balance faltered, and I tumbled down.
“You should know what it feels like to be pushed down the stairs,” he yelled, standing above me with fury etched on his face.
I hit the cold marble floor with a sickening thud, pain shooting through my body. But the physical pain was nothing compared to the sight of him cradling her, whispering reassurances, his hands gentle and caring.
I lay there, broken and discarded, watching as the man who was supposed to be mine poured all his love into someone else.
And at that moment, I made a silent vow. This wasn’t over.
If he dared to treat me like this just because of her, I would find a way to make him regret it.
My whole body ached as I tried to stand, but a sharp pain shot through my leg, making it impossible to get up.
“Calm down, Vanessa. I’ll take you to the pack doctor,” Kieran said, lifting her into his arms.
From over his shoulder, she smirked at me, triumph written all over her face. She had won this round, again, without me doing anything wrong.
I felt a warm liquid trickle down my forehead. Touching it, I pulled my hand away and saw blood on my fingers.
“The Luna must’ve been jealous, but she’s hurt,” Vanessa said in her fake, innocent tone. “Shouldn’t you take her to the doctor too? She’s still the Luna of the pack, and I’m sure she didn’t mean to push me. She’s just jealous of me carrying your baby.”
Her words didn’t surprise me anymore. She hadn’t come here because she was pregnant; she had come to take my place.
“You’re too kind, Vanessa, especially to someone who tried to harm your baby,” he said, his tone dripping with contempt as he glanced back at me. “You were just let out, and already you’ve done something unforgivable. You’ll be locked up again—this time, for longer.”
With that, he walked away, all his attention focused on Vanessa, who was grinning ear to ear.
If he hated me so much, why did he want me by his side? Why not let me leave?
The thought made me sick. His words and actions were nothing but a web of lies.
Clutching my torn dress, I bit my lip until I tasted blood. If he wouldn’t let me leave, I would find a way out myself.
*****
Just as Kieran promised, I was locked up again. This time, it was in the attic, a place long abandoned and forgotten.
The attic was dark, with only faint light filtering through cracks in the wooden roof. The air was thick with dust, making it hard to breathe. The wooden floor creaked with every step, and cobwebs hung in every corner, giving the space an eerie, neglected feel.
Boxes were scattered around, some sealed, others spilling over with old, forgotten belongings. The walls were cracked, paint peeling in jagged streaks. The entire room felt cold and lifeless, as though it had been untouched for years.
By the small window sat a bed—cleaner than I expected. I walked over, sinking to my knees on the mattress, and stared out the window. The dim light from outside was the only brightness in the room.
Pressing my hand to the glass, I peered down at the maids gathering outside. Life went on without me, as though I didn’t exist.
I touched the bandage on my head and sighed. It had been so long since I felt my wolf. Without her, I healed slower than any normal werewolf—an Alpha wolf, no less.
Her absence had to be tied to Kieran’s constant cheating, something I’d brushed off as a sickness in our bond. Maybe she’d sensed his betrayal long before I did, and I’d been too blind to see it.
“I’m such a fool,” I muttered, staring out the window again.
Below, the maids stood in a straight line, as though preparing for someone important.
“What’s going on?” I wondered aloud.
A sleek car pulled up, and a man stepped out of the driver’s seat to open the back door. I craned my neck, trying to catch a glimpse of the passenger.
Another man stepped out. His dark hair, streaked with silver, caught the light as he adjusted his gloves.
My eyes widened in shock. “The Alpha of the North?”
Everyone knew Magnus Ironfang. His presence was magnetic yet intimidating. His sharp features, ice-blue eyes, and commanding aura made even the strongest wolves submit.
Why was he here? The last I’d heard, he and Kieran were sworn enemies.
As I stared, his piercing gaze lifted, meeting mine through the attic window. My breath hitched. His icy stare seemed to slice right through me as if he’d known I was watching all along.
His lips parted slightly as though he wanted to say something, but then he shook his head and looked away, heading inside as the maids bowed in respect.
“What was that about?” I whispered to myself, retreating from the window.
I collapsed onto the bed, confusion swirling in my mind.
Eira’s POVLying on the bed for hours, knowing the Alpha of the North was in the house, felt like an eternity. He had visited, yet I had no idea what he wanted. At first, I thought there must be some grand occasion that had brought him here. However, there had been no sound of music or celebration, which only meant one thing—he was here for something else. A deal, perhaps?Since I wasn’t allowed to greet the guest, I could only assume Kieran had introduced Vanessa as the Luna of the pack. It made sense—he’d want to hide the fact that he had locked his wife in the attic with an injured head. The possibility of that scenario played over and over in my mind when the door clicked open. Startled, I jumped off the bed and turned to see who it was. To my dismay, it was Kieran. His gaze swept around the attic, his expression filled with distaste.“I had no idea the attic was this shabby,” he commented, his eyes finally settling on me. “I also can’t believe a shattered woman like you would sta
Eira’s POVPacing back and forth in the room, I tried to think of an escape plan. Even if I attempted to flee, I knew I couldn’t escape Kieran. He would catch up to me if he decided to chase after me.He wasn’t willing to let me go, even though I had rejected him. I still couldn’t understand him.How could he claim to love me after everything he had done? It was disgusting. Hating someone like him wasn’t hard. Yet, deep down, I feared I might give in to his words if I stayed here too long.I might not have felt the bond because my wolf was absent and I had rejected him. Knowing that I had no idea when my wolf would return, I needed to leave before that happened. After thinking for hours, I still couldn’t come up with any viable escape plans. Just as I was about to give up, vivid blue eyes flashed in my mind—his dark, silver-streaked hair falling over his temple as he peered up at me.My eyes widened. I still had one option. ‘Magnus.’*****I spent the next three hours devising a plan
Eira’s POV“Luna here is your food,” the maid said, placing the tray next to me on the bed.Sitting near the window, I turned my gaze to her. Out of all the omegas who had entered this room to serve me, she was the only one who had dared to strike up a conversation.Although I was disappointed that Fiona didn’t deliver the meal, I appreciated that this maid at least spoke to me.My eyes fell on the tray—peas, chicken wings, and vegetables. I guessed he’d tried to impress me with this selection.“The Alpha said I should pick your favorite foods,” the maid added, drawing my attention. Her black eyes sparkled with delight as soon as our gazes met. She tried to hide her concern, but I saw it clearly. There was something oddly familiar about her—brown hair in two ponytails, black eyes—yet I couldn’t place her.“I chose these because I thought they were your favorites,” she continued.Frowning, I glanced at the tray again. “They’re not my favorites,” I replied flatly.“Huh?” she gasped. “Th
Eira’s POVThe footsteps approached, making me freeze. My head turned toward the sound, but I couldn’t see anything. Reacting quickly, I ducked behind the tree, pressing myself against its massive trunk to avoid being seen.My heart pounded in my chest, fear gripping me as I listened to the steady steps drawing closer.No. It wouldn’t be Kieran, I tried to reassure myself, but the more I thought about it, the more my fear grew. There was no way he’d know I was outside and come for me. If it wasn’t Kieran, then… was it Vanessa? My thoughts were cut short when a voice reached my ears.“Who’s there?” the voice called out, deep and authoritative. My eyes widened, and I almost sighed in relief. The voice was unfamiliar. It wasn’t Kieran, Vanessa, or even Magnus.Peeking cautiously from behind the tree, I spotted a guard patrolling the area, his flashlight scanning the grounds. My mind scrambled for a plan. If he found me here, my attempt to escape would be over before it even began.I held
Eira’s POVI didn’t realize how long I had been running. My only focus was getting as far away from that window as possible. The more I ran, the more it felt like I was still too close to the building. I needed to find a place for us to pause and talk—somewhere far away.Just as I tried to take another step forward, a firm grip on my arm yanked me to a sudden stop.I whipped around, breathless. Magnus—whom I had been dragging along—had pulled his hand free, forcing us to a halt. His grip had been strong, fingers wrapping around my wrist with enough force to make me flinch. He was tall—easily over six feet—with sharp features that would have been handsome if not for the hardened glare he fixed on me. His dark hair was tousled from our frantic escape, strands falling over his forehead, and his piercing blue eyes flickered with frustration. A hint of stubble lined his jaw, adding to the rugged intensity of his expression.“We need to stop,” he said, his voice rough but controlled. “Runni
Eira’s PovHeat rushed to my face, but I forced myself to stand tall. “Not as your wife in the sentimental sense,” I clarified. “A political alliance. Kieran won’t let me go easily, but if I become yours, he’ll have no choice but to step back. Marrying me means taking something from him. Something he considers his.”Magnus was silent, his gaze flickering with something unreadable. Then he leaned in, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “Tell me, Eira… do you think you’re worth enough to make me risk my interests? Why should I dirty my hands to spite Kieran?”I searched for an answer, my mind racing, trying to come up with the best reason. Although I had said I was going to offer myself to him, that wasn’t a good enough reason for him to help me.“Just like I thought.” He muttered. “You didn’t get a reason from Kieran. He made the mistake of not telling you something that would make me agree to fake helping you. I’m not someone you can take advantage of, and I will not believe th
Magnus’s POV "Have a nice stay here, Alpha Magnus. We will talk about the reason you are here tomorrow," Kieran said, his brows furrowing. The same excuse. Again. It had been a full week since I arrived, and every time I pushed for details about the business deal, he conveniently found a way to delay the discussion. Pathetic. "You’re not the one who came up with the idea, are you?" I questioned, my voice laced with disinterest, though my eyes stayed sharp on him. I wasn’t letting him walk away without an answer this time. "You’ve been stalling since I got here, and frankly, it’s getting embarrassing." His brows knitted together. "There is a reason for everything," he muttered, but his expression gave him away—disgust, irritation, and something else. Guilt, perhaps? Leaning back against the cold wall, I crossed my arms. His inabil
Magnus’s POVAs soon as her body hit mine, her scent filled my nostrils. That same familiar scent that sent a wave of calmness through me.She was Kieran’s Luna? What was she doing here? Didn’t that bastard say she was out?I knew he was lying—I had seen her by the window when I first arrived. Still, I almost believed him since I hadn’t seen her for a week. She was always around Kieran.Just then, I felt a faint tremble in her frame. Fear.Interesting.The guard hesitated when he saw me. “Sir? Alpha Magnus?” His voice held a hint of uncertainty.I let out an annoyed sigh. “Am I not allowed to take a walk without being disturbed?”The guard stiffened. “I—I didn’t realize it was you, sir. I thought someone was sneaking into the mansion.” His gaze flickered to the woman in my arms, and understanding dawned in his eyes. “My apologies! I’ll leave you be.”“Get out,” I ordered flatly.“Right away! I’ll leave at once. Enjoy your evening, Alpha.” He hurried away without another word. The mome
Eira’s POVA gasp escaped my lips, and my eyes widened in shock. I hadn’t expected him to get violent so suddenly.Magnus tightened his grip, his voice a deadly whisper. “You don’t get to tell me when to stop.”Kieran clawed at Magnus’ wrist, his face turning red from the pressure. Magnus leaned in, his eyes burning with rage.“If Eira isn’t here by tomorrow, safe and unharmed, I will burn this entire pack to the ground. Do you understand me?”Kieran gasped for air, nodding frantically.Magnus released him, letting him collapse onto the table, coughing and wheezing. Then, without sparing another glance, Magnus turned to Vanessa.“You should pray your child isn’t a boy,” he said darkly. “Because if he inherits his father’s weakness, he won’t survive long.”With that, he straightened his coat, casting one last disgusted look at the two of them before turning to me.Holding out his hand, he waited for me to take it. “Let’s go. We are leaving this pack for now.”Raising my head, I took hi
Eira’s POVAs soon as the words rolled off Magnus' lips, Vanessa flinched, her eyes widening in shock. She looked as if she had been shot.Kieran didn’t look good, either. His face was stunned, clearly not expecting something like that.“Are you going to say some greetings, or…?” Magnus asked, intentionally trailing off to give them a chance to respond to the question he had just asked.I peered at the two of them, waiting for their reaction. Magnus had asked about me, and I wanted to hear what excuse Kieran would give for my disappearance. He hadn’t told Magnus about me vanishing yesterday, and I was sure he wouldn’t do so now, either.“The Luna isn’t back yet,” Kieran muttered, looking like he had regained his composure.I listened, waiting for him to give whatever excuse he had prepared, but he hesitated, his brows furrowing as he tried to fake sadness.“She got caught up in a rogue attack and is injured. She won’t be here until she’s fully healed,” he added, making me flinch. My e
Eira’s POV“Get up and get dressed,” he said, rising to his feet, an expressionless look etched on his face. “It’s 11 a.m. There’s a dress for you in the wardrobe. Change into it. We’re joining Kieran for breakfast.”Those words made me freeze. Having breakfast with Kieran again was a nightmare I didn’t want to relive. He would be dining with Vanessa, and facing both of them was the last thing I wanted. It would be even harder to face Vanessa—she was the main reason I had been locked up in the first place.“Is that really necessary?” I asked Magnus, hoping he’d say no. But he shook his head, watching me with a hint of suspicion. His expression seemed to ask, ‘Are you sure you can handle this when you're still terrified of facing him?’“Yes,” he replied. “It is. We’re still leaving today, though.”Without giving me a chance to argue, he headed for the door. “I’ll be waiting outside. Be quick.”With that, the door slammed shut, and his scent lingered in the room. Why did it feel even he
Magnus’s POVA soft snore caught my ears, and I slowly turned to look at the woman lying across from me on the couch. Was she asleep already?Getting off the bed, I dropped the facade of sleeping and headed for the window. Outside, I could see guards patrolling the place—tons of them.I hadn’t mentioned to Eira that Kieran would feel the bond shatter, leaving him clueless about how it broke. He must be feeling a sense of loss right now, and it was quite entertaining to think of him searching for a Luna he wouldn’t even recognize when they met again. Finally, something interesting was happening to me.Now that she was with me, there was no longer a need to deal with Kieran. Since the business was originally her idea, I could work with her directly instead of going through him. He handled the business exchanges even though he had no real understanding of the idea.Being his foolish self, he had also cheated on the perfect woman he could have had by his side. It wasn’t surprising that he
Eira’s POVMy eyes widened in shock as I glanced at her, unable to believe what I had just heard. Did she just call me Eira?Wasn’t she not supposed to recognize me?Did that mean my appearance hadn’t changed at all? But Kieran didn’t recognize me. How could she be the one to do so?“You don’t have to say anything,” Fiona said before I could form a proper response. “I know everything about you.” She mumbled, “And I happen to know the size of your wrist and body, too. You can explain what happened while you were left alone. For now, I’ll take you to Alpha Magnus. It seems to me that you have a better plan.”My lips parted as I tried to speak, but I shut my mouth immediately. There was nothing I could tell her yet—I couldn’t risk someone overhearing. It was better to talk to her later.A few minutes later, she dropped me off in front of a door, which I could tell led to Magnus' room. Bowing her head, she turned around and left before I could even speak.Forcing myself not to call her ba
Eira’s PovA sharp, throbbing pain pulsed in my skull as I stirred, my body heavy and unresponsive. The air was cold—too cold—and the scent of damp earth filled my senses. My fingers twitched, brushing against something soft. A blanket? No. Grass.I forced my eyes open, wincing against the pale light filtering through the trees. My limbs felt like lead, my breath coming in slow, shallow pulls. For a moment, I didn’t remember what had happened. Then it all crashed down on me.All that happened filled my head. The rejection. The pain. The emptiness.I sucked in a sharp breath, my hand instinctively reaching for my chest, but the unbearable agony from before had faded into a dull, hollow ache.Kieran was truly gone. The bond that had once pulsed between us, warm and unshakable, was nothing more than a memory.A rustling sound snapped me out of my daze. I turned my head weakly, and my heart jumped when I saw Fiona kneeling beside me, her brows drawn together in worry.“You are awake,” she
Eira’s Pov“She ran into Vanessa?” I questioned, concern filling me like a hole.Heart beating hard in my chest, I tried to think of ways to help her if she was caught taking Kieran's hair. Going back into that house was something I wouldn’t want to do, but given the fact that Fiona was there, I had no choice but to.“It wasn’t like she was caught by Vanessa,” Natalie added, making me raise my head to look at her.My brows furrowed at her words. If nothing happened to Fiona, why was Natalie here in her stead?“I brought the hair of the Alpha,” Natalie said, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a handful of hair. “Fiona said she might be late, and you can do what you need to do before she arrives.”Seeing the size of the hair she brought, my eyes widened in shock. I just needed something like a strand, but they got more than necessary. It must have been taken from his comb.Kieran has a habit of leaving combs and brushes with his hair on them.Taking the hair from her, I glanced at
Eira’s POVAlthough I had the amulet, sneaking into Kieran’s room to get the hair was a problem. There was no way I was going back into that building without severing the mate bond. There was a high chance I would bump into Kieran or Vanessa if I entered the main building. He must still be outside, given that Magnus had left the building. And I couldn’t let him see the amulet either. If he did, he might take it away from me.It was then that I remembered Fiona. She must still be waiting for me outside—I had forgotten about her. Natalie was still in my room, and I needed to act fast before we got caught.Sprinting toward the other garden at the annex, I tried my best to keep my footsteps light and soft. I wasn’t ready to give away my location.A few minutes later, I stopped at the edge of the annex garden, pressing myself against the shadowed side of the stone wall. My heart pounded against my ribs as I scanned the area. The moon cast a pale glow over the garden, making the blue flower
