By dusk that same day they had already arrived at the town where Raisel had lived with the young woman and her two kids. They currently sat in the tavern where Dragomir had frequented. On their way here she had stopped by at their house to greet them and gave them some money which they had appreciated. โSo you come here very often?โ โCameโ, he corrected, โI even have a friend hereโ Raisel scanned the room, using her sense of reasoning to evaluate the kind of people that were seated, โYou do have a questionable choice of place to pick out your friendsโ He followed her eyes, โNo, not these people, the crowd is made up of people with really questionable characters. Iโm only friends with the bartenderโฆโ, he looked around, โ...who is not here currently but if he comes Iโll do the introductionsโ She nodded in understanding, โSo letโs go over all the things we know about...โ A loud raucous laughter drowned her voice. She turned to see two fat men talking loudly. She looked at Dragomir
They ran as fast as their legs could carry them, running at very high speed. They could hear the men charging towards them from behind. They took a curve in the other direction and Dragomir tripped against a stone, both of them falling to the ground. He landed first and caught her before she fell, so she landed on him. She tried to stand up immediately, however he pulled her closer preventing her from doing so. Just then they heard voices above them, โWhere did they go?โ โCanโt see them anywhereโ, came the reply. โLetโs go back, Ryder needs our helpโ They stayed put till they heard the sounds of their feet as they retreated. They stared at each other not saying a word before Raisel got up from him. They walked towards their lodge holding hands. When they got to their lodge, it was then exhaustion kicked in, the effect of the alcohol, the running and the fight they were involved in. They had checked in late so they had gotten a lodge with a single room, so they had to share a bed
โItโs an elite crowdโ, she remarked. โJust as we expectedโ, Dragomir said showing no interest whatsoever. She peered at him, โLose the attitude Dragomir, we have to blend inโ A butler passed with a tray containing glasses of wine, Raisel took a glass and sipped, โI think Iโm ready for all the fun tonightโ โI canโt say the sameโ, he muttered under his breath. They walked around a bit, surveying the crowd trying to make small talk with a few people here and there, making sure that they saw the flashy jewellery that they had on. They stood together, both nursing a glass of wine, Raisel looked up at the large banner that they had missed when they walked in, and she read out loud, โEntering a new era of wealth, power and fameโ โHe is extraโ, Dragomir shook his head. Raisel managed a light chuckle, โI want this to be over soonest, where is he?โ โTrust me I want the same thingโ, he muttered. โWhere do you think he would be? Should I go meet with him, that would be straightforward fo
Dragomir knew he was ruining Raiselโs plan and that if he wasnโt careful he could land her in a big mess but he couldnโt help himself. He hated to see herโฆ Then an all too familiar tune came on, he knew this as a result of the numerous balls he had attended in his whole life. He pulled the blonde lady along who for some reason loved clinging on to him. They stood just a few yards from Simon and Raisel and when the time for the switch came, he didnโt hesitate, he took Raiselโs hand before she ventured off or before another man laid his finger on her. She was squished against him, โDragomir what are you doing?โ she asked. โI do not play the piano now do I?โ โHe was just about to spillโ, she whisper yelled. โI knowโ, he appeared lost like he was calculating something. He pushed her towards Simon just in time to catch the blondie and this time when Simon looked at him he flashed him a smile. Raisel entered into the waiting arms of Simon, โOh itโs such a mystical creation of course y
Dragomir stretched out his hand and snapped his fingers directly above the pile of woods and dead leaves, fire enveloped it immediately, โI still got itโ, he yelled. They were currently in the woods, they sat around the blazing fire. They had managed to narrowly escape the library without drawing the attention of the love birds or as he liked to put it, lust birds. They had spent the night and the following day in their beds asleep and only decided to come out now. Raisel stared on at the fire in disbelief, โThereโs no getting used to that, to the fact that you are dragon or to any of this at allโ โTune it a notch down Raisel, I feel like we deserve a breakโ โThatโs the problem we donโt, we just came back from Islandia and all we did was restโฆโ, she argued. โAlong the line, we did find out the heart of magic's former abode before it went missingโ, Dragomir interjected. โThat is inconsequential to our questโ โNot entirely inconsequentialโ, Dragomir replied, โIt did help us elimin
Votigern and his men rode into the kingdom of Avalon, making a dust trail as they rode in numbers. People scampered away like rabbits at the sight of them. Votigern inhaled deeply, he liked the smell of fear, especially if it was his orchestration. Votigern rode in front leading his 20-man army. He raised his hand and they all drew to an abrupt halt. โDo we stop here master?โ, Cillin asked. Votigern shot him a deadly glare, โNo fool! Keep riding, ride through their houses and on their roofs if you deem fitโ, he shook his head in disbelief before alighting from his very large horse. He stood silently staring off into nothing. The wind rippled through his large black coat and hair. He finally turned to the men and gestured for them to come forward, โGet the weaponsโ Not long after, the clanging noise of the weapon was the only noise aroundโฆโ Someone tapped him on the shoulder, he turned to see Nero, one of his trusted allies and fiercest warrior. โWhat do we seek here in Avalon Lo
They arrived at the docks, there were three ships and a couple of boats tied to the docks, people hovered about, well-dressed, obviously travellers. They were also dressed well, Dragomir was happy because they had picked his favourite persona. They were travelling as a rich couple. Raisel had explained they needed to deflect whatever attraction to them whatsoever, they could not afford unnecessary attention and they were bound to get unnecessary attention if they showed up, him dressed in sleeveless leather cloth, snug fitting pants with boots, a sword carved by a dragon slung at his back and her dressed in a leather ensemble, knives visibly tucked everywhere, her sword hanging on her side. They had advertently chosen the normal couple, it was one disguise they seemed to pull off well. They could not travel with weapons but Raisel on insistence had packed her knives, alongside other essentials. They couldnโt tell how long they'd be gone before they reached the mount isles but on esti
Allerick and his men rode through the town of Carran, โWe will stop by the Vanor mansion for a few days. We will be able to feed our horses and rest properlyโ, he announced. When they got to the high towering mansion, they rode in and were given the much-needed attention and Allerick couldnโt be more glad that he was treated like a Prince again. It was towards evening after a well-deserved rest and food, clothed in a white silk robe did he finally see Count Simon Vanor. Simon strolled in leisurely, โPrinceโ Allerick turned around, โCountโ They burst into laughter and enveloped each other in a hug. โBrotherโ, Allerick called Simon. They had been friends since childhood. Allerick had spent most of his formative years at the Vanor mansion. โWhat brings you here Allerick?โ โA very long story Simon, you could say adventure?โ Simon stared at him in wonder, โIf I didnโt know you Iโd have believed youโ Allerick chuckled, โHow are things with you, Simon?โ โOh the usual, throw extrava

They drank a lot of rum and chatted about everything and nothing. It was far into midnight and the bar was beginning to empty out. Coal didnโt have much customers to attend to, so he was able to engage them. Coal took one long sip, โIt was always about the ladies when he came hereโ โNo definitely notโ, Dragomir argued. โOf course Dragomirโ Raisel took a short sip and scrunched her nose in disgust at the awful taste, โWho was it, tell me?โ, she bobbed up and down in her seat like an excited school girl. โFirst it was Esmerayโฆโ โOhโ, she interrupted, her face fell. โThen Raiselโฆโ โOh shut up Coal!" Raisel was smiling now, โReally?โ Dragomir looked at her, โWhy do you care so much?โ She stared back at him, she couldnโt conjure up any bef
Raisel tossed on her bed, and then she heard it again. She got up with a start, it was still slightly dark but a horse was neighing outside. She brushed it off and went back to sleep but she heard it again but this time it was much closer to her window. It was the early hours of the morning but if a horse was outside her window she had to check it out. She grudgingly got out of bed, it was a chilly night so she slipped on a robe and walked towards her window, she peeped outside but there was no one around or even a horse around. She thought of going outside to check but she did not want to use the door for fear of waking her mother up. Since she got back her mother had insisted on spending the night in her room cuddled up with her for fear of her running off again like the last time. It had taken her a lot to convince her mother that she and found the stone and had no plans of running away without her knowledge. Her words were not enough still until she had threatened that she might
As Raisel rode through the all too familiar streets, it hit her again, how could she forget? This was home, the home where she lived with her parents. Where she had made her first mistakes as a child, gotten her first scolding and grown into the strong woman that she was today. It was not the beautiful scenery that got to her, no this time it wasnโt perfection that Islandia was, the clouds were not excessively blue and did not look like soft foams that you wanted to reach out to and take a piece from, there were not much beautiful flowers and trees as the streets in Avalon assumed a more business-like front. Carriages and horses packed here and there, men were smartly dressed and attended to their different businesses. There were no dragons in all the wonderful colours you can imagine, in the most beautiful patterns, Avalon was dull and bereft of loud colours of any kind. Heavens forbid that you wear bright yellow or neon green, the fountain in the middle of the street did not have w
Votigern had been travelling for days unending, his only lead to the heart of magic had blown up in his face. So he and his men had taken a well-needed rest. He had a huge party that left him dead drunk throughout the day. He slowly opened his eyes, he had a banging headache. He slowly walked towards the door and opened it, a guard was stationed outside, โSend my food inโฆwith a woman of courseโ He nodded, โYes sireโ He slumped on the bed, and not long after there was a short knock on the door, โCome on inโ โGood morning Lord Votigernโ, a lady's voice greeted him. He merely grumbled his greetings. She set the tray of food on the table and walked up to him, โWhat do you want my Lord?โ He thought about it for a while, then he turned to look at her, his eyes unashamedly travelling through the full length of her body. By his standards, she was a beautiful woman. Long brown hair, a petite face and a curvy body accentuated by the tight-fitting dress she wore and extremely tight corsets
They rode for hours unending, stopping at intervals for a short break. It was almost sunset when they arrived at the heart of the earth, the original location of Islandia where the portal once opened. They stopped their horses and got down from them. Raisel reached for the box, it was slightly heavy, she handed it to Dragomir, โI believe this belongs to youโ He hesitated, โRaiselโฆโ She shook her head, โNo Dragomir, this is not debatable. This rightfully belongs to dragons, this belongs to youโฆโ, she smiled, โAnd what will I do with this after all?โ, she asked, โIt will only put a target on my back, I do not know where or how to keep it safeโฆโ He nodded, โThank you Raisel, thank you so very much. I could not have done this without youโ Her eyes glistened with tears, โWe make quite a good teamโ, she smiled through the tears. And more, he said to himself. She reached for his face and cupped it, โIt is time Dragomir, you did it, it is time. Time for you to do what you have promised
Allerick rode into Avalon, the royal guards beside him. As soon as he entered the royal courtyard word spread around that he was back. He walked head-on to the throne room, he ignored the greetings on the way like he had not seen them. He was in an awful mood and the reason was clear. He got to the large doors, and the courtier stationed outside quickly acknowledged him, โYour Highnessโ Allerick did not bother with a reply, he stood still, his hands to his back. After a while, he turned to the man, โCan I see my father Stefan? Or do I have to force the doors open myself?โ Stefan bowed immediately, โMy apologies your Highnessโ, he opened the doors, โPrince Allerick, son of King Aldrich, heir to the throne of Avalon is entering the throโฆ Allerick walked in before he finished. Trent and the other men trailed behind him. His father and grandmother sat around a large table, there were two people with them, and he recognized them as ministers. Aldrich saw him first, his eyes lit up when
They slowly rode into the deserted streets of Deleria. They stayed quiet for a moment observing the area. Save for the constant chirping of birds and crowing of roosters it was eerily quiet. There was no sign of human existence. โYou know I was thinkingโ, Raisel said. โTell meโฆโ โThe phrases, the clues we gatheredโฆโ, she trailed off, her mind preoccupied, โThe clues were talking about Deleria, this is the kingdom that has lost its gloryโฆโ โโฆ.but will rise againโ, Dragomir finished. They rode through the streets but there was still no sign of life. Save for the items outside the beatdown houses that humans used. โDo you think our choice of clothing has chased them inside?โ He thought about it only for a while, โYes they live in fear. Two people in leather and swords are bound to terrify themโฆโ She nodded, โI never really thought about how or where we are to find the stone..โ โIf it is in Deleria we will find it. It will be hard to conceal it...โ, he stated, โI have been thinkin
Raisel ran towards Dragomirโs tent, in her hands were a lot of papers. They were guards stationed outside, when they saw her they greeted her and gave way for her. When she entered the chambers, as soon as she saw him, a small smile crept on her lips. It was the cutest sight ever. He was still dressed in his royal regalia that he wore earlier, his crown had tipped slightly but it was still on his head. He laid halfway on the bed, his one leg was on the bed while the other was on the floor. He was snoring slightly, and a half-eaten apple was in his hand. She walked closer to him, her eyes lit up in admiration for this man, now she knew why he had not come to see her earlier. He was exhausted. She took the apple from his hand and set it aside. She laid the books and papers she came with on the bed. She removed his crown carefully and laid it aside. She gently roused him, โDragomir, I need you to wake up. I have something to tell youโ He mumbled some incoherent words but he did not w
