KALMIA’S POV

The man's voice still echoed in the chambers of my mind, while I stood there, phone still locked in my palm; I just couldn't miss the memory of the words, sending lots of cold chills shivering down my spine. He had said, "Just be careful, dear." His voice was low and all mysterious again. "Because she keeps planning everything, every time." Anxiety rushed in. My mind raced with questions. Who might this woman be? What would she plan?

I tried to shake off these thoughts and concentrate on the present. "Okay, sir, will be careful," I shrilled, trying to sound really cool and convincing. The man disconnected the call, leaving me to wonder about this unknown warning.

I turned to go back towards the house, and a faint voice called. "Mama, Mama!" Dawn could screech in small, excited tones. "I am famish!" she continued, eyes twinkling with all the desires of hunger. And I smiled, with something warm inside me. "I am sorry, my love," I said, pulling her into my arms. "Let m

JEMIMA’S POV Somehow, I remember when the first occasion took place for Visha to call me her lesbian slut. In her apartment, the lighting was low, and soft music filled the air. I was nervous as well as excited. I had been curious about women, Visha being the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Coruscating heat played with her long curly hair, full lips, and body that would make any woman dizzy. Sitting on the couch, she looked at me with a kind of hunger I had never seen before. She leaned in to kiss me with soft inviting lips-I responded eagerly as my body went up in flames. . "I'm going to make you scream, little slut." Then she threw me back on the couch, wide-open legs lifted. Her gaze fell on my pussy, which was already slick with anticipation. Down she went, kissing my inner thighs en route to my wetness. I was moaning in tantalizing delight as her teasing tongue gilded ever so slightly across my clit. She began to play with my clit, her fingers sliding in and out

JEMIMA’S POV There stood I, flooded with memories of Kalmia’s manipulation, filled with a sense of shame and regret. I remembered how she had used me, had played me like some pawn in her game of deceit-waves of anger swelled in me. My fists clenched; muscled in a tight jaw; narrowed-slit eyes as I relived the scenes of betrayal. But when I saw her, her name was Visha, all came back to me, and I knew that I would be safe with her. Her soft touch on my breast was like an ointment of healing to my very soul. It made my entire jangled being feel languid and soothed the jerking of my heart. I took the breath deep to uncoil the tension that had settled in, looking into her wide eyes for assurance. "I'm back, my love," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, as also at that moment I had Visha's hands on my breast, which reminded my mind of her presence. Her eyes locked onto mine: not with surprise, nor shock, nor with even resentment, but with an understanding that was so much deeper tha

JEMIMA’S POV As I opened the door, the first vision that greeted me was loveliness itself — and my heart did a flip. Kalmia stood before me, clothed in a ravishing red gown that perfectly struck all the right curves. The light played off her white shoes, while her hair fell in a beautiful vibe down to her face. I was itching to cross over then and talk with her, but my head was filled with the words of Visha, chanting for me like a mantra. At once, those venomous, malicious words turned my mood sour and filled me with a nasty, festering hatred for the very woman standing in front of me. I could feel my expression twist into a grimace as I narrowed my glare upon Kalmia in contempt. Well, Mrs. Shawty, who seemingly was oblivious to the unsteadiness now hanging in the air, motioned to the chair beside her that was facing away from me, pausing to say, "Have a seat, please," her voice taking on an almost syrupy warmth and charm. The mixture of surprise and recognition returned to

KALMIA’S POV The shine in her eyes was something that I had never in all these days observed; it was a chilly impersonation of nobility, razor-tipped in its subtlety, just like the voice that turned on me. It was almost like she materialized from under some boundaries around fair; Jemima possessed a brusque and undeniable self that she wore only but occasionally. Stepping in closer, I reached out in concern, asking in a gentle, soft tone, "What did get changed?" I had been somewhat genuinely confused, considering so many reasons why something so terrible could have brought in so much change. Jemima had been my friend, my confidante, the one who selflessly took care of Dawn, my darling daughter, for months. But now, I looked into her eyes, and I was staring at that stranger raging and fuming in great resent. The hurtful bites of her words struck like a vicious rebuke cutting through me, "Please spare me your care." I felt the cutting of hurt and betrayal in my heart as I asked, "I

KALMIA’S POV "She's so rude, my love," I said to him, still trying to comprehend the encounter with Jemima. "I am still shocked by her behavior." I couldn't put it behind me: the way she had spoken to me was as if the words were still clinging to my consciousness like aftertaste. Arrow had a suggestion. He searched my face for signs of distress, eyes colored with undercurrents of sympathy. Gentle and soft-spoken, he said: "I think we should please call her." "I am so sorry, my love," I said, shaking my head. "I cannot talk to her. I am just too hurt by the way she spoke." The memory of her words, stupidly put, stung like a thousand angry bees. I couldn't bear to clench my teeth at her." "My love, perhaps she was out of her mind," said Arrow, trying to calm me. His voice, healer-like in its sweetness, only enhanced my anger and hurt. "No, no, my love," I replied. "I cannot." I did not want to say more; I wanted to dismiss the whole incident from my thoughts. The image of how Jemita

JEMIMA’S POV "Nincompoops," I hung the call saying, just above a simmering degree, my anger and frustration below the surface. "I'll be your frustrating Kalmia," I mumbled, low and ominous, "I can make your life a living hell." The venom flowed from my agitated heart, akin to the poisonous emotions simmering deep inside me. The voices became louder, swelling my heart with rage, thumping against my temples, and rising to the surface in anger. With phone in hand, I designed to scroll through the contacts to find someone to confide in regarding this matter. I needed a shoulder to lean on. I scrolled down the names until it lit on one- Visha- and dialed her number. The ringing did not last long, however, because there was no pickup, so I felt disappointed and worried. What if she was busy? What if she did not want to talk to me? My room looked normal but strange. Everything was serious, but the sound of my breaths was heard clearly. Then I called again and kept drumming my fingers on t

JEMIMA’S POV I was gradually coming back from slumber, blinking open my eyes with a cursory glance next to me for a familiar visage. To my dismay, however, Visha was untraceable. The expanse of the bed seemed louder in her absence, unnerving me. With fingers automatically clutching my phone, I just swiped to the notifications tab. There it was: the message that eclipsed everything. The message on the screen seemed to shout at me: "Do whatever it takes to bring Kalmia down."I remained transfixed by the message, grasping its import, and a slow smile crept onto my lips. Waves of ecstasy washed over me—my whole being swelled with purpose, and I let out a primal scream akin to that of a lottery winner. I was announcing to the entire world about my newfound resolution. Now, in my mind's eye, lay the plot-a plan to destroy the Kalmia family, to see them humbled from the altars of power. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but for me, it was justified; they were finally to be made to pay. "When

JEMIMA’S POV Arrow's voice spoke with a layer of worry, turning into me to overview the surface of my face for any signs of distress. His searching view traveled over my lips, my cheeks, my eyes, inquiring about what might be upsetting me. "What is it, Jemima? What's the problem?" he asked, brow furrowed in concern, words nearly a whisper. I chuckled and with a sly playful smile on my lips, shook my head. "Nothing, Arrow," I said, speaking almost inaudibly, a slight teasing intonation underlying every word. Arrow's narrowed eyes bore down into me as though seeking the whole truth, racing with possibilities in his head. He turned his face towards the wall, all muscles inside rigid with expectancy, body language practically jumping to compete in a tension created by a fight against my charms. "Yes, I am, my love," my voice had a low seductive growl holding words like heavy gumdrops of longing, "I'm sick, and then the doctor said I need you as my medication." Arrow drew a little

ARROW’S POV I entered my comforting home, the familiar setting enveloping me in a warm embrace. "I'll be fine. Thanks," I told Daniel as my voice trailed off into an almost inaudible whisper. The echo of that whisper was like a reminder of everything that had transpired a few hours ago. I hopped into my sedan while blaring some loud music to drown out the chaos in my head. The rhythmic beats from the speakers filled the hollow space for just a moment. Almost instantaneously, from the moment I pulled into the driveway, a profound sense of relief swept past me, finally arriving home. I went into the house and called my wife, "Baby!" My voice echoed throughout the hall, which then brought with it a gentle call that his wife answered promptly. "I'm over here," Kalmia would respond from bellow where the kitchen is with the warmth of an inviting voice. Following the source of her voice, I padded after her in the kitchen, where the smelly dinner floated tantalizingly through the air, almo

The cursor kept blinking endlessly as if to remind me that the conversation wasn't finished yet; however, the silence was becoming unbearably loud. And finally, after ages of waiting, a text popped up on the screen," I can't tie this one to you. The words would extricate themselves, letter after letter, each one wielding well-laid calculation to enhance the torment behind such severe brevity. Down sank my heart as the phrase registered within, disillusionment and fury swelling up in response to it. Those very words were so final, so dismissive-I could not help but wonder what other secrets had been muzzled by just those few words. It's fine, I said, desperately trying to sound as though I meant it while trying to weigh for more. It was a complete lie; nothing was okay. But I was in no mood to stretch this conversation. Because of their absence, I was fully charged and restless

DANIEL’S POV What could Arrow have done to piss Visha off? Was it something personal, or just business? Whether it was something personal or business-the questioning Pollyanna's in my head like a vortex, taking me further into the miasma and making it harder with the passing moments to breathe. This was an avalanche being set to go down-Are Visha's motives ever so deep and multifaceted that it makes for a complex riddle? I was starting to process my thoughts when another message shot through on my phone, the noise sounding in the silence like a gunshot fired in the dark with jarring mention. "If Arrow doesn't go down, he will know my secret," read Visha's words, electrifying me like a tsunami, leaving me breathless and gormless. What could possibly be her secret? I wondered with a really piqued curiosity like that of a detective after a lead, racing through a thousand wild scenarios, each more tantalizing than the last. Something to ruin her reputation? • A DEAL WITH THE BILLIONAIRE   CHAPTER EIGHTY SIX

DANIEL’S POV With the passage of two weeks feeling like a grain of sand slipping through an hourglass, my days trickled by, counted with pain and agony toward the evocation of my so-called heavenly vacation. Caged with anticipation, a living, breathing entity all its own wrapped its sweet, loving arms around my soul and began to suffocate with every passing moment, until it finally came to be. Boarding the plane, I felt the soft whoosh of closing doors like a wishful adieu as Jamaica, with rays of sunshine and azure waters, beckoned to me as a siren would. The money that Visha had funneled to me was burning wild in my pocket like a wild inferno that could be subject to control only by my intentions. I resolved to spend it all and shift my focus from worry and inhibition toward blending with unchecked joy at being on vacation. The sound of reggae, wafting through the airport alongside the aromas of jerk chicken and spices, seemed to carry me off to a world where one could shove

VISHA’S POV I stood before the stranger before me: Daniel. My head was spinning with the gravity of our talk. The room was dim, shadowing the man in front of me, highlighting the sharp angles on his face. "Let's get to business now," I interjected, voice strong but slightly fearful; the words almost a dare. Daniel looked right into my eyes, his intense stare penetrating. His curt nod rippled across his dark mane. "Okay, what do you want me to destroy from Arrow?" he asked, sounds almost casual, his tone utterly colorless, as if this were just routine for him. I stammered, now not able to say anything, my head going whirling inside with mixed thoughts. In truth, I was not preloaded with any idea, but whatever it was, I knew it had to be something that would really hurt Arrow's functioning, leaving him crippled and exposed. "I don't know," I replied. "Maybe you can think of something good enough that when you take it from Arrow, he falls." Daniel's face grew thoughtful. Said while fu

VISHA’S POV It was difficult to have missed out on the trending topic-the mysterious man on my social media feed. That is literally trending everywhere. People were talking and speculating about him. I got interested, my curiosity piquing. I called my friend Jemima, who picked up on the first call. "Hey, girl! What's up?" she said. "Did you hear the news about that mysterious fellow?" I asked her again. "Yap! It's all over social media. But I have no idea what to believe," she replied. "Some say he is a billionaire; others say a recluse.” I laughed. "I know, right? It's like a mystery novel. I seriously need to get in deeper." "Me too," said Jemima. "Let's dig deeper and see what we can find out." We were now on the activity of digging for more information about this mysterious man. We hit the web, reading articles and social media posts. The more we read though, the more questions popped up. Who was this mysterious man, really? What was behind his enigmatic persona? A

ARROW’S POV My anger toppled over, and I took a step closer to him. "You did not think you had any other option, did you? You are working for me, and you're getting paid well. You have a roof over your head, food on the table. And this is how you pay me back? By putting one of your colleagues in harm's way?" The head of a man hung really low, and he nodded slowly. "I know, sir. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I scoffed. "It won't happen again? You're going to make sure of that. “Guards!" I screamed, my voice echoing through the restroom. "Take him away! He's fired, effective immediately. Get him out of here and make sure he's never allowed back on company premises again." The guards rushed into the room, grabbed hold of the man, and started dragging him away all the while he struggled and protested. I was looking at them from the restroom door, totally unsatisfied with the whole affair. When they had left, I turned to the one who had been kidnapped and demanded, "Now, tell me

ARROW’S POV After a moment, he spoke again in his low gravelly voice: "You're playing a game you don't understand, Mr. CEO," he said. "And you're going to lose." My heart started pounding as I tried to stay composed. "Who are you?" I demanded. The voice laughed. "You know exactly who this is," it said. "And soon enough, you'll know what I'm really after." The line terminated, leaving me with my phone in hand, pondering what's next from this mysterious man. For a minute, I sat there going through all the possibilities in my mind. Who was this strange guy? What could he possibly want from me and my company? I mentally reviewed previous encounters trying to match distant memories against anything remotely pointing toward answers. Resolute for getting to the bottom of it, I convened a meeting with my security team, to whom I delegated the assignment to trace the call. All security footage was also requested for them to find any leads about the mysterious man's identity. I had the i

I immediately called the top executives for an emergency meeting to discuss the problem and see what alternative I could give to the company. While we all gathered around the conference table, one could almost touch the tension. "We have to get rid of him," said one of the executive members in a straining voice tinged with desperation. "He is a liability, and we cannot have him around threatening our existence." Another executive nodded her head in agreement. "But how do we get rid of somebody that has... abilities like that?" she pondered, having already given a second thought to the very same question. We talked about everything from trying to understand this strange man's powers to calling for help from the
