Kian’s POV
My headache was almost gone when I woke up. The weather felt pleasant, when I slid the curtains from the window. Of course I had missed the morning bliss, it was almost lunch time. When I walked in the living room, everything was at its place. The mess I created last night was cleaned up by the housemaid, who was paid enough to never question anything. I sat on the couch. Noah, my cook appeared in front of me: “ Would you like to have breakfast Sir?” “Just a cup of coffee” I answered vaguely. He went back after he heard my order. I sighed, resting my head against the couch. Empty was all I felt like. I was too honest inside out. The roughness that people always felt in my personality was the reason for my strange kind of music. I never understood why it was so necessary to write things about love, when all that matters to the world is money, wealth and status. But this ugly world wanted me to be a hypocrite as it was itself. Even if I tried, I knew nothing about love and affection. It always felt useless to get attached to people, to care about them when all of them were the same. Greedy . Noah appeared again with my coffee and I took it from him. Bitter and black, as I always liked. But never bothered myself to thank Noah. Of course there was no need to be thanked when he was already being paid. As I was lost in my thoughts, I heard a familiar voice: “ Did you just wake up?” It was Quinn. My very own vocalist. Many of my hits were sung by him. Also the last album for what I got an award for was vocalised by him. Although he was younger we were close. Besides the fact he was annoyingly talkative, I trusted him. “Yeah.” I answered casually. “Is everything okay, your eyes are a little red” he said, leaning on me to take a close look of my eye. I backed up and replied: “ yeah I am fine.” I never liked sharing problems. Like it's useless to tell him thatI got upset last night, didn’t eat anything and was experiencing migraine all night. Even my sleep was disturbed. Yes , he was my friend but that was irrelevant. He sat on the couch, giving me a bunny smile for God knows what reason. “Aren’t you gonna thank me?” “For wha-” but before I could complete my sentence, he cut me off: “I am Kian Calloway,it was meant for me” he mimicked me and laughed. He should have watched last night's interview. I didn’t sound like him, he was acting like a mad dog. “ So what's your plan?” “About what?” I inquired, taking another sip. “ Do you want a party?” I guessed. “No.” I took a glance at his face, trying to figure out what he wanted. “ What about make an album, about love this time and shut them all” I wanted to hit his sculpted featured face but I resisted myself from doing that. “I don’t wanna talk about this.” “But why??” he asked. He was always like that, too simple, too normal and too ordinary. That's why I preferred him in the first place, he was harmless. But now it seemed like I spoiled him a bit. “Look we will figure out something but atleast try. We can shut them off” he gave me reasons to go against that huge personality of mine and make music about flowers, spring and love. Like it was that easy. He had the point to shut off all the drama. “It's not like that” I tried to let go of the conversation but he was very enthusiastic. “ Raven and I talked about this, he says he has a whole plan to manage the whole drama with triumph.” “What plan?” I asked , stretching my legs. “He will tell you. Let's go to your office.”he stood up. “I am not into it” “Come on bro.” Obviously, I wanted to stop all this criticism but writing a love song was never on my list. “Tell Raven I will figure it out on my own” “But-” I cut him off. “Get the hell out of here, before you are no more able to walk” He took the signal. Sighed in resentment and left eventually. Irene’s POV I felt better than last night and was very thankful for my breakfast. I had woken up with extremely painful stomach cramps. I was definitely on zero energy level. But then I heard my doorbell. Which I opened and found my teenage neighbour Stacy. My attention got distracted by a very pleasant aroma of fruit and maple syrup. She was holding pancakes on a plate with a glass lid on it. She greeted me with her usual too clingy attitude: “Hey ! I made this today for the first time, Mom is not home. So I had no one to try my pancakes. So can you taste it.” I didn't know if it was my hunger or any other thing, I didn’t want her to say the word ‘taste’. “Sure,” I said I lifted the lid. Sweet aroma of pancakes started disturbing my stomach again. I put the lid back and turned to get a fork also being afraid of my stomach growling. When I came back she asked : "What are you doing?" "Tasting the pancakes." I stated. "Oh no,no that's all for you , I didn't come from my apartment all the way down to just give you a bite" she giggled. My starving self didn't have that much time to waste. " Thank you, I am sure it will be tasty." She peeked inside my room, got a sight of my desk. "Oh! You got another badge?" She asked in excitement in her usual nosy habit of peeking in my apartment. "Oh yes, I got it yesterday for lab work." Not mentioning other things I also got yesterday. "You look tired , everything okay?"she asked. I really wanted her to leave and to dive into pancakes. I took the plate from her carefully. Which she gave me easily. " yeah, just studies.".I answered vaguely. "I should go now," she said walking backwards. " Bye" I almost shouted. In return she just waved her hand and closed the door. Immediately I found myself consuming pancakes on my bed. I was starving badly and yes pity. There was no one to have pity on me. I had taken 5 -6 bites when I stopped again and looked in the mirror in front of. I almost couldn't recognize myself. I was anaemic and also looked absolutely like shit. It was getting out of control when I felt a tear rolling out of my eye. I got back in my action, and started eating again with watering eyes. No, that's not okay. I said to myself. Luckily, there was no class today as I had no energy to deal with drama. There were still two hours free until my shift. So I decided to scroll through social media. I always had to keep in touch with advertisements for odd jobs as I had to leave part time work after some time. As usual, jobs were available at low or high prices depending upon the work hours. To my surprise I found a very suitable paying job with only data management work. It was more like work from home. Junior assistant was written in the designation column. I searched for the company name. KC productions was written. I immediately searched for its location and was surprised to see it was situated on my way to university. CV and other details were required to be submitted by hand. I decided to give it a chance because my current job was absolutely not paying me enough and I also had no security. Customers were always flirting and my boss didn't care about it at all. So I had to keep a backup. Kians's POV "I don't care about them" I clearly stated, when Raven showed me some articles published recently talking about my music. "Oh really, Ki everyone wants something different, you are not only a producer, fans are absolutely obsessed over you." I stretched myself on my comfy Rolling chair. Trying to process his words. "Hey buddy, we have to engage them, if you can't write about love songs. At least we have to give them something they would talk about. We have to create a highlight, this way your music will never die for them because you will still be interested for them and they will listen to your work of course." Anger, confusion, rage, chaos all these emotions were running through my body. I felt him right and wrong at the same time. But to clear my own confusion I asked: "So what's your plan" He gave me a triumphed smile, which made me regret my question. "You will marry a girl" I literally thought his nerves were not working properly when I heard the word marry. I tried to keep calm and said: "Are you in your senses?" I scoffed. "I can't even resist the same face in bed more than once and you just said that I should marry a girl?" "No, no like fake marriage" "Why the hell is marriage necessary for being highlighted in the media, I really don't understand." My elbows were resting on the front table now, I felt tension in my head. "Look we will use the curiosity of your fans, first we will hide the girl intentionally, we will pretend that we don't want the media to know about it. Eventually, the internet would be stormed about that mysterious girl. And then at the right time we will reveal the girl, that will be another headline. You both will do some public appearances and PDA just to amuse your fans. After some you will end the contract and the next headline will be about your divorce." No matter how crack headed the idea was , somehow it started to make sense. "And yes , we will choose some ordinary girl who is far from the media industry just to make it interesting." I totally agreed with him with this idea, because all the other girls I knew like Mona , they would be annoying as hell and it would be too risky to tell them such a secret. I rested my back against the chair again when the door opened, I heard Mona arguing that she doesn't need permission to enter my room. And then my assistant appeared with her , "I insisted her to wait, as the two of you are in meeting but she-" I cut him off by asking her: "What do you want Mona?" In the most annoying tune I can manage to create. Raven stood up and directed the assistant to leave. "I am free today." She said, "So?" She walked towards me and bent on the table to whisper in my ear. "Maybe we should have some fun" Her eyes were shining with her desires. My face remained as calm as it was disappointing her expectations. "I don't have time today,"I said to her face. "Oh really ? You don't have time to-" " Yes I don't have to entertain you." She turned to Raven, "Were you talking about something so important? Is it about me?" Raven rolled his eyes to tolerate her self obsession. "It's confidential and no it's not about you." "I think you should leave now" I declared, not having enough patience left. Her face turned red and all her beauty disappeared. "But-" "OUT NOW!!" I shouted. Her jaws clenched and I saw her walking out ,stroking her heels on the floor. Almost creating noise pollution. When she was nowhere to be seen I turned to Raven and stated: "Do that work quickly" "What work?" He asked "Find the girl for the contract" Raven didn't expect a 180 degree shift of my personality. "Oh that," he was surprised, "Well that was fast" he scoffed. "Just do what I said". "Okay, okay" Was all he said. He stood up and walked out leaving me with my thoughts. Irene’s POV Surely this place belongs to a very rich person, I thought as I stepped in the building. And I felt like I was in another world. Delicacy was screaming at its peak. The architecture and the design was just wow. Wooden brown and white were the main colour scheming. But also some contrast of chocolate brown was present in the minority. Reception was kept simple yet decent. At the centre of the front large spacious hallway there was a piano. Maybe just for decoration because the ceiling above it was crafted to be seen like the sky is falling on it. I wasn’t very much a fan of art or music but I did get the impression that whoever this person was, he would be an art himself. I was drowning in my own thoughts completely forgetting my purpose, when I heard a soft male voice: “Is something wrong?” I turned to take a glance at the blonde haired man in front me. I looked at him, his hair was slick back , and eyes were blue but in darker shade. And his dresscode did impress me, that I guessed he might be the owner of the company.Irene’s POV“ I-uhh” I stumbled at my words, for an unknown reason. “Hmm?”“I saw this advertisement about a junior assistant. I was wondering if you are still hiring.”“Oh I see, you are here for that job” he eyed me head to toe.I was not dressed very appropriately for a job interview. I came straight from work, more like fired from the work so I was in my jeans and had worn a very baggy T-shirt. His style of checking me out confirmed to me that I was definitely not getting the job. But somehow he seemed interested.“Can I ask you, who are you?” I asked to break the awkward silence.“Oh I am in the hiring team, my name is Raven” he offered his hand, which I took very hesitantly.“Is it okay if I interview you” he asked with a very non professional smile, that showed me some red flags. I was fired from that cafe job today because some creepy customer was being too touchy. And no matter how confident I was, physical touch always scared the hell out of me. And I caused a mess by spilli
Kian’s POV:It was the same darkness. Prevailed in my living room, personifying my inner self. It felt strange. Everything. This day. Things that happened. Myself. Her. I was angry at myself too. That I agreed with Raven’s stupid idea. To make a random girl my pretending wife. Not everyone is able for this kind of work. Or maybe this whole idea was stupid. I didn’t know. And that sharp pain emerging from one side of my head, making my eyes bulge out of the socket was not letting me overthink matters that were already confusing enough. I headed straight towards my spacious bedroom. Letting myself fall on the mattress. The knock at my door broke my attention to the file I was reading. After my permission, Raven stepped in. Walking towards me, he said;“I think we found her.” Out of nowhere, he informed me. “Found who?” was my question. “Your ‘would be contractual wife’.” Tilting his head a bit, he arched his eyebrow. Like we are teenagers and he is talking about my crush. Placing
Irene's POVThis morning was something. First, the man who insulted me like sh*It appeared in front of my apartment. And I let him in. That was already, something I decided to think about it later. Then he apologised to me. Like nothing happened yesterday. And I said ‘I’ll do it’. Here it was, A morning filled with surprises. Not only me, Raven and his very bossy boss were also shocked. “What?” Raven wanted to confirm.Which I did by saying, “ I said I’ll do it”.“Ok-well. Thank You.” His words were still recovering from the shock he had just received. And he. His expressions were also telling me that he was not anticipating this. Or I was misjudging him. “You won’t apologise back?” he almost growled. Oh my God, can he not be self obcessed all the time.“For what?” I asked, folding my arms against my chest. “We should go now,” Raven exclaimed hurriedly. I shifted my gaze to Raven.“No-” he did not believe how he was being ignored by Raven nor was I, to be honest. Raven grabbed h
Irene’s POV:Walking out of the busy and vast hallway of campus, I saw Mona with her chicks talking about something. Moving her hands unnecessarily, she giggled. Dressed in a crop top, and shorts, flaunting her curves. Always the centre of attention. Every boy lusted over her. All girls secretly wished to be like her. The delicate material of her top was already telling how expensive it could be but the pearl necklace and earrings were making it more mesmerising. I didn’t realise I was staring at her standing in the middle of the hallway, when the mirror in front of me caught my attention. Sweatpants and the sweatshirt I was wearing were very old. May be three years. Shopping became a luxury since my mother died. Many things were different now. My face was pale, bones were prominent. My hair tied in a bun. I always hated these moments. Comparing myself to her. It was stupid for several reasons. But I cannot control it. I always felt poorer when she was around. “Heyy Irene,” high pi
Irene’s POV. Fairytales are always deceiving. I remember my mother telling me stories in which the prince solves every problem. He can just make everything fine by the snap of his fingers. It always annoyed me but maybe I always beleived it. And I was waiting for him. The long wait made me hate fairytales. I felt betrayed. Like it was a false hope. The moment I saw the amount I was going to receive after this contract, it felt unreal. The problem in my life was money. And it was written on the paper, ten million. Like it was simple. It was not just ten million. It was an end to starving days, to the constant anxiety of paying loan, doing odd jobs. The amount was enough for me to enjoy life. Until I complete my studies, and find a job. Lifting my head I saw the man sitting in front of me. Brown pair of eyes radiating coldness. Technically, he was my prince. That felt funny. Prince? He? Not that he wasn’t charming. He was-hot, but no prince could be this rude. Turning to Raven. I expr
Kian’s POVComing back after the phone call, seeing her nowhere did feel like a victory. Until I heard their giggles from upstairs. It was Quinn, of course. He was flirting with her. And she was buying it. Raven came with a glass of wine in his hand, offering it to me. I took it from him. “Did you do the background check on her,” I asked as he seated himself with me, sipping from his glass. “Of course, I did. But you didn’t listen when I was telling you. So, I skipped the details.” he said in one breath. “You brought her in at the moment she came for the job,” I turned my head to him. Asking him to explain his move. “I was a bit over excited at that moment. But I knew whoever she was I was going to deal with it. Even if she was a spy or something I was going to use her for a particular purpose.'' He was confident like this, always. And the good part was, he was never wrong. Usually, we were always together playing this game of checkmate. But this time, it was different. This girl w
Irene’s POVI felt serenity in the cool breeze of London September was near to end. The air was cool. I saw a notification on my phone this morning, about the money transfer. I couldn’t remember when was the last time I had breakfast in my favourite cafe. It felt good. I was planning to do some grocery shopping after my classes. After all that happened, it was worth it. It is way better than worrying about getting starved to death. Raven also sent some congratulatory texts and praised me. What I did was nothing, actually. It didn’t even require any special skill. My face was even covered. This was for the first time in my life after my mother’s death, I felt I was not alone. Not on my own. The tranquillity of the air vanished as I entered my campus. Students were gossiping. Some faces were shocked and some were smirking. Showing something on phone to each other. This was definitely something about some trending topic. I shrugged my shoulders. Last time, I worried myself with thos
Kian’’s POV“I am heading home,” I announced as I adjusted the coat on my shoulder. “Anything important you want to inform?” “No, I mean, I was informed about some reporter wanting to interview and,..” we both stepped out of the elevator. “Mona! She called me several time.I assume you didn’t answer her.” he looked at me from the corner of his eye. “Yes, did you?”“Nope,” he said, popping the ‘P’.“I just don’t have time to deal with her sh*t,” I explained. “Yeah, how things went with Mr.Backer?” he asked as we walked out of the lobby.“It’s fine, I want you to call a meeting tomorrow. Choose wisely, I want something new for this track. Try newbies too.” he nodded. We were in the parking lot now. We parted our ways to our cars. His car was parked on the left side of mine. I stopped as I opened the door, I was hesitant to talk about her, because the way he perceived my attention back then, made me uncomfortable. “Uhh-did you talk to her?” The truth is I didn’t know myself what I
Irene's POV: I am tired. So, f**king tired. I feel hot and cold at the same time. Cold sweats really running through my body. I am still limping. I fell maybe thousandth time. But I kept walking again. The sun is here, I can see. But I don't know where I am. I collapsed at the ground. I felt like I was dying. Maybe, I was. Tall trees, blocking all the sky. Maybe, it was a good view for a nature lover. But I wanted to see him so desperately. My legs ached. I lifted my body to see my lower half. My feet were bleeding. My knees were bruised. But there was more blood. As I observed more my hand reached under my dress. I was bleeding from my v*gina. My body practically hyperventilated. It could have meant many things. Was I not pregnant? But this much blood isn't common in periods. My mind drifted back to previous months. The stress made me forget that I had missed periods for two months. If I was really pregnant, then this bleeding wasn't a good sign. I felt so thirsty.
Kian's POV: “Say it again.” “W-we can't find her anywhere sir.” Rush of adrenaline. My brain stopped working. “What the f**k did you say,” I held Robert by his collar, pinning him to the wall. “You had one job. Only one. To. Look. After. Her.” I punched him violently. “AND YOU CAN'T F**KING DO THAT.” “S-sir please. We will find her.” I pushed him away. My eyes roamed through the house, hands brushing off my hair nervously. “FIND HER. OR ELSE YOU ARE DEAD.” I can't believe, I came home just after half an hour of this fight. To solve the matter. But she was nowhere. Robert came rushing into the house. And told me a story that she disappeared while running away from him. How? How can she? Was she that mad? Where is she? “All my fault, all my fault. All my fault..” my body shaking as I grabbed my head kneeling on the ground. In an instant, something clicked. And I grabbed my phone and dialled Raven's number. “Hey, kian-” “She is gone. She is gone, Raven. I don't
Irene's POV: None of this would have happened, if I had just not created the drama. Or maybe I am wrong. She would have succeeded in her mission one way or another. I am abducted. Helpless. Shelterless. At her mercy. And now I recall everything in my mind, I see how I had forgot the thing I had wanted. I just wanted him. But I got distracted. My attention was diverted to her, because of my own mistake. My own insecurities. My own jealousy. Right now, I just want his embrace. His voice to tell me that everything is okay, and it is just a dream. But it's not. My body ached in pain, head heavy with an unknown weight. My jaw hurt and I got reminded by the slaps. She slapped me, hit me. Mona did that. She did all of that. She planned it, carefully and precisely. The door creaked open, and the rays of light pierced my eyes. I couldn't see accurately. But as the silhouettes of the person came nearer I saw it was Jasper. He was smiling. He slipped the package in his hand In f
Irene's POV:I was coming from the grocery when I saw Kian’s car parked. It wasn't his time to come home. I got off my car and walked to the corridor. As I entered the living room. I found him sitting on the couch. His head hung back, eyes closed.“Kian, are you alright?” Putting all the packages on the table I walked towards him. He opened his eyes to look at me. I cupped his face, hovered myself over him.“Do you feel pain?” he looked at me, for a second and then blinked. “No, I am alright.” His voice was neutral. “You came early? Did something happen?” I took the space beside him.“No, nothing happened. Everything’s fine. No video of ours is being streamed on social media.” It was a good thing. But why did it sound so bitter on his tongue?“What happened?” My voice was almost inaudible. After all the wait, to give him space. I thought it was over. We will be back to normal.“You told Raven everything?” “I did it because I thought he is your friend and he can handle it.” once agai
Kian's POV:Two weeks and a half had passed since the fight that happened. I regretted everything I said in anger. For that I tried to make up for her everytime I got the chance. Sometimes in the form of flowers, chocolates other times I helped her feeling good.Well, she didn't mention the incident again. Not that I was unaware of the mental war she must have been going through. But still, there was change. She was trying.A perfect traditional date. In a fancy restaurant. Was a good change. We never really did typical couple things, and doing this felt new. She wore a dress, sky blue in colour. I was sure, I had never seen her in this colour before. She looked ethereal and she wasn't believing even after the hundredth time I was telling her.“Maybe it's the makeup then, I mean it looks too much.” she whined.“You look beautiful, that's my final answer. No matter what you think.” I stated sternly. She rolled her eyes, amusingly. The waiter came and started serving the dishes. I loo
Irene's POV:“Mona?” I blinked. It felt like time stopped. My heart thumped harder as my eyes tried to shove the reality into my face. It was really her, but, with him?“Kian?” As I looked at his face. It was a new revelation. How a nervous Kian looks. Blood left his body. He looked pale. Eyes wide with fear? I don't know, I don't fuc**ing know. What was this witch doing here, out of all the places in his office. Near my man.The day was extremely boring at university. Some classes were cancelled. Upcoming annual fare at university was driving people crazy. It was necessary for me to participate too. So when Margret asked to join her, it didn't feel wrong. She proposed to me to hang out some more. Because, it felt boring as compared to spending rest of the day with him. So I called Robert and went home. Prepared snacks to pack for him. It was a new recipe for waffles I had discovered recently on Pinterest. I changed my outfit to a floral dress. Kian loves dresses on me, according to h
Kian’ POV:Five minutes till the meeting start. Long time to stare at the picture Irene just sent showing off her new outfit. Such a tease, deliberately blurring her face. When she knew I hated it. Another picture. her face was not blurred thank God. Hair tied in a ponytail. For so many reasons, I had grown quite liking for this hairstyle. I chuckled at the thought. “Though I’d say hi personally,” I thought it were my ears ringing because there was no way I just heard Mona. As I turned my rolling chair, I came into reality. It was her. My eyebrows pinched at the sight, not sure what to really say. She looked thinner. And for some reason she seemed calmer. Her smile looked genuine, not to mention that I knew it wasn't. “What are you doing here?” Was my question. Her outfit was surprisingly unrevealing. It looked like she was finally cleaning her shi*t or just pretending. None of it was my concern.“For the meeting, you forgot? Tatte company is in the highest sponsor category.” It wa
Irene’s POV:I watched at my outfit for hundredth time. Checking all the criterias that I had build in my mind considering it’s a not so personal dinner. I was here as his wife. Sara, Raven’s girlfriend looked friendly and bubbly. Which I didn’t see in many of Kian’s acquaintances. She was a redhead. Beautifully slaying the maroon coloured outfit. Her features were very prominent. She looked confident. Well, it was understandable since she was handling real estate business all herself. That wasn’t inherited but built by herslef. Okay, that was impressive. The table was set with all the delicious meals. I was sitting on the chair, revising all the table manners I had once learned. “My chief’s special soup,” she said as put the bowl of soup on front of me. I smiled as I dived into it.“That’s amazing” I praised genuinely. She gave me a cheeky girin. She was outgoing, that eased my anxiety a lot. I was wearing a beige coloured not so short dress. I skipped necklace and just wore silver
Kian’s POV:As I took out my phone, it was already ten. It was my time to leave. I grabbed my car keys from the table, causing the heads of two of my best friends snapped in my direction. “Already?” Quinn arched his brows.“Uhh, don’t wanna sleep on the couch. She gets really grumpy when I am late.” I said hanging my jacket on my arm.“No matter how much I try It’s really too much for me to get used to this ideal husband's behaviour.” I chuckled at Raven’s comment. “Are you really this scared of her, I mean she doesn’t looked like she would ever look horrible enough to scare the sh*t out of you.” I could see the honesty in his eyes. The truth she never looked horrible, she looked a bit scared herself. Whenever she would shout at me, I sensed the uncertainity in her eyes. Wanting to know if it did affect me. I wanted to give her the assurety that her offence did matter to me. That she wasn’t just some random girl. I took her as my….. Wife. because to me there was nothing left to che
