Serena trailed behind Matthew, sensing his growing anger.

"Matthew, wait for me," she spoke, attempting to break the heavy silence.

However, Matthew paid her no attention, proceeding straight to the car and reclining with his eyes half-closed, as if in a light doze.

Feeling awkward, Serena bravely initiated conversation, "I bit you, and you bit me back. Are we even now?"
