KIERA’S POV

The venue of the meeting was a rooftop restaurant exclusively for people who have money pouring from their pockets. I would have much rather stayed back at the hotel, but Gabriel wouldn’t take no for an answer.

While we waited for his business partners, we were served a bottle of Gout de Diamant champagne, but neither of us even reached for it.

The last 48 hours had been a whirlwind, and I was barely trying to keep my head above water.

Having that conversation with Gabriel yesterday lifted a bit of the weight that sat in my heart. I just wanted him to know that I appreciate all he had done for me, nothing more. I had already steeled myself not to be emotionally attached to them. Although I still feel a tad nervous around Gabriel, I will gradually overcome it, and see him as nothing but a friend.

I've been so worried about my Papa, and I really wish I could go see him. That’s what I wanted to say to Gabriel yesterday, but he cut me off before I could get it out. I didn’t wa

ELISE’S POVI had just finished having lunch, and I casually strolled to the bedroom, trying to shake off the feeling of emptiness that lingered. It was becoming a habit for Miguel to skip not just dinner with me but lunch, too. For the last two days, he had chosen to sleep in another room, and I felt a growing sense of devastation creeping in.As I stepped into the room, I locked the door behind me and walked to the bed, feeling a wave of loneliness settling in like an unwanted guest.Listening to my body, my little button down there was restless, craving to get satisfied. I swept my dress off my body, laying bare on the bed, as I slightly arched my back, spreading my legs wide apart.Dipping a finger in my mouth, I snaked it down my belly, until it rested on my cl*t. I start rubbing my cl*t gently, taking in all the pleasure little by little, and a shaky breath stuttered across my lips. My body felt hot as I cupped my b**b with my other hand, catching my nipple between my index and

GABRIEL’S POV“I assigned Lewis to represent the company in court regarding Mark’s case,” Damien conveyed through the phone.“Good, I trust Lewis to handle it perfectly. Mark messed with the wrong people and the son of a b*tch will pay dearly for swiping from the company,” I responded, keeping an eye on the road for any sign of Kiera.“Oh and by the way, Elise texted Caleb’s phone,” he added.“And?”“Well, I couldn’t just leave it hanging. She called a few times, and I ignored them, but then she texted. I didn’t want to raise any suspicions, so I replied as Caleb, saying I was out of town for some family stuff,” he explained.“Solid move. Let her keep thinking that she has the upper hand.”“Were you able to get Mr. Gavin to sign the contract?” Damien inquired.“I don’t know. Kiera’s been in there for almost an hour and I have no idea what’s going on,” I blurted out before realizing.I guess I was so nervous that I couldn’t mask it any longer.“What do you mean Kiera’s been in there fo

GABRIEL’S POVI excused myself from the loud-blasting speakers to take a call from Linda. She was being annoyingly persistent, bombarding me with irrelevant questions and I ended the call without warning. I was in no mood for her shenanigans. Linda was breaking the one rule I put in place before we got involved—no meddling in each other’s affairs and gradually, it’s getting freaking irritating. As I went back into the club, I saw a cocky guy seated face to face with Kiera, his hand, slightly touching her thighs like he owned her, and my head almost exploded. I should have known better than to leave her alone.Who the hell does he think he is to lay his goddamn hands on her?“Hey!” I thundered, striding over, my voice slicing through the chaos. “Get your f*cking hands off her.”Kiera turned, surprise etched across her face, but I didn’t care. The guy’s smirk faltered as he flicked his gaze between us.“Relax, bro. We’re just talking,” he replied, trying to brush me off.“No, you weren’

MIGUEL’S POVAfter meeting with our inside guy, he confirmed that the shipment was indeed in the custody of Don Pablo. For almost a week, we've been planning on how to get back our shipment from the South Coast cartels—one of the deadliest.Joe wasn’t present, I guess he was still on Kiera’s assignment. The dim light of the basement flickered ominously, casting long shadows across the cluttered table at the center of the room. Papers lay scattered, weapons glinting in the low light, and half-empty glasses sat like forgotten sentinels. I leaned over the map, the weight of our situation pressing down on me.Don Pablo wasn’t playing nice, and I wouldn’t let him get away with it. I could feel my heart pounding, anger running in my veins for the fool he tried to make out of me.“The shipment is ours for the taking,” I said, my fingers tracing the route to the docks.Javier’s voice cut through, “What about Joe? We can’t commence without him.”I waved a hand dismissively, “We’ll fill him whe

KIERA'S POVThe kiss left me breathless, stirring up emotions I didn’t want to confront, and I wished it would never end. When we finally pulled away, my heart thudded mercilessly in my chest, drowning out his explanations as they went in one ear and out the other. As I watched his lips move, all I could think about was feeling them against mine again.“Do you want to get out of here?” He asked, his voice low and inviting, and without knowing, I nodded. He headed to the counter, slipped a few notes to the bartender, and came back holding two bottles of vodka.“Let’s go.”****As we drove past the hotel, I glanced out the window, watching the city lights blur past, my mind running as I wondered where we were headed. After a few minutes' drive, Gabriel took a turn, exposing us to the stunning view of the beach.“This will do,” he said, finding a spot to park.We kicked off our footwear, and Gabriel picked up the vodka bottles as we strolled along the coast. The rhythmic sound of waves c

KIERA’S POVThe night was still young, and the vodka was flowing like it was going out of style. Gabriel kept pouring himself another shot, and I couldn’t help but tease him.“Are you trying to become the world’s first human vodka balloon?” I joked, nudging his arm. “I mean, at this rate, you’ll float away.”He chuckled lightly, “You underestimate my ability to handle my liquor. I’m practically a professional.”“Oh sure, because we all know that getting hammered at the beach is a sign of high-class behavior,” I shot back, rolling my eyes.“Hey, I’m making memories here!” He exclaimed, waving his arms dramatically. “Life’s too short not to enjoy a little chaos.”“Right, and what kind of memories? The kind that involves you face-planting into the sand?” I laughed, but part of me loved this carefree side of him. With each shot, I watched as his usually sharp gaze softened and his laughter grew louder. There was something infectious about his buzz, and I felt myself getting swept up in it

KIERA’S POVI had finished packing my luggage and was ready to leave, just waiting for the green light from Almighty Gabriel. But I couldn’t shake the feeling of frustration over his delays. Still seething about what happened earlier, I didn’t want to talk to him, so I sat quietly, scrolling through my phone and checking the time. After about five minutes, I decided to go and check on him. I got to his door and it was slightly ajar. Peeping in, I saw his valise already packed on the bed, and I peered further only to find him on a call, his back turned toward me.Curiosity kills the cat, but since I’m not a cat, a little eavesdropping wouldn’t kill me, right?Leaning in, my ears raced faster than my heart as I tried to piece together his conversation.“I hate to be questioned,” he roared.Whoever he was talking to wasn’t getting an easy ride, that I was sure of.“There’s nothing going on between Kiera and I. She’s just a friend, nothing more. Whatever you think is going on between she

KIERA’S POVThe private jet felt like a prison. I sat as far from Gabriel as possible, my eyes glued on my phone as I pretended to be engrossed in it. I just wanted him out of my sight completely. His phone rang nonstop, each tone sending a jolt through me. I sighed heavily, wishing I could vanish. It had to be the woman he spoke with earlier because the way he kept glancing at the screen and then staring back at me felt suspicious. The ringing eventually ceased, and about five minutes later, his phone rang again. Pardon me if I felt a strong urge to grab the goddamn phone and toss it out the window because it was becoming irritating. This time, he answered the call, and I caught the mention of Lewis’s name. From his tone, it was clear Lewis was discussing Mark’s case. I lifted my eyes slightly and noticed his brows furrow.“Abuela wants to meet with you again?” He asked, his tone sharp. After he hung up, he got on his feet and strolled towards me. ABUELA’S POVThe first thing I became aware of was the dull, insistent throbbing in my head, followed by the faint murmur of voices, hushed yet urgent. My body felt like it had been weighed down with stones, each limb sluggish and aching. A soft groan escaped my lips as a wave of confusion clouded my thoughts. What on earth had happened to me?Memories wavered at the edge of my consciousness, fragmented and disjointed. One moment, I had been walking to my room, and then—sharp, searing pain, like a knife driving into my temple. After that, there was only darkness. My eyelids felt impossibly heavy, but I forced them open, blinking against the golden light spilling through the curtains. The world came into focus in a haze of soft morning glow, and the first thing I saw were two pairs of eyes, filled with an emotion I couldn’t quite place—fear, relief, something deeper. Kiera’s gaze shimmered with unshed tears, her lips parted as if she had been mid-prayer. Gabriel’s was darker, stormier,

KIERA’S POVThe garden unfolded before me like a scene from a dream, the kind you didn’t dare wake from, no matter how unreal it seemed. Lights flickered along the pathway, delicate and soft, casting a golden glow that danced against the darkening sky. My breath caught as I moved closer, the atmosphere heavy with the scent of jasmine and roses. Then I saw him.Gabriel stood at the center of it all, surrounded by the kind of romantic decor you’d only see in movies. Lanterns hung from low branches, their light illuminating his face—a face so achingly perfect it made my heart stumble. His eyes, piercing and deep, found mine instantly, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe. He wore a simple white shirt, the sleeves rolled up just enough to reveal strong forearms, the fabric clinging to his frame in a way that accentuated his broad shoulders and toned chest. Casual, yet effortlessly magnetic, he looked like he had stepped out of a TV show.“What is this?” I asked, my voice trembling as

KIERA’S POVMy mind was a jumbled mess the moment Gabriel stepped into the room, his presence filling the space like a storm cloud about to break. My nerves were already stretched thin, but I forced myself to stay composed. Barely.“What did she say?” I questioned, though I already knew the answer deep in my gut. I just needed to hear him say it.His piercing gaze rested on me for a few heavy seconds before he finally spoke. “I’m sorry, Kiera, but we have to go through with it.”The words landed like a gut punch, knocking the air from my lungs. I blinked, my vision narrowing as I let out a bitter scoff.“I can’t do this!” My voice cracked, betraying the tidal wave of emotions crashing inside me. “Everything is just—just too much! Your grandmother is relentless, Gabriel! Do you even understand what this means?” My chest heaved with every breath, a mocking laugh almost escaping my lips. “She’s talking about an engagement party now. What’s next? GABRIEL’S POVWhat the hell was Abuela thinking? My fork paused halfway to my mouth, the food suddenly tasting like ash on my tongue. I forced myself to chew, but each bite felt like gravel, heavy and bitter. The look on Kiera’s face—wide-eyed, pale, practically trembling, was impossible to ignore. It was written all over her: she was overwhelmed, teetering on the edge of panic. My jaw tightened, muscles clenching as I set the fork down with deliberate care. If I let myself speak now, I’d regret it. Abuela’s declaration echoed in my head. "I’m hosting your engagement party tomorrow night." No warning, no consultation, just a bomb dropped in the middle of breakfast.“Abuela,” I said, my voice low, controlled, but with an edge that sliced through the hum of conversation. “I need to speak to you. Now.”Her sharp eyes flicked toward me, arching a brow in challenge, but she didn’t argue.“Fine. My study.”I pushed my chair back and stood. I caught a glimpse of Kiera’s frozen form, her hand

KIERA'S POVThe dining room was a masterpiece of elegance—crystal chandeliers dripping light like molten gold, a table so long it seemed to stretch into eternity, and a breakfast spread that could rival any royal banquet. Platters of freshly baked croissants, ripe fruits arranged like art, and silver carafes brimming with coffee and tea were just the beginning. Yet, the grandeur felt suffocating this morning, as if the walls themselves were closing in on me, ready to swallow me whole.I hesitated near the doorway, my gaze instinctively darting toward Catherine, who was sitting beside Abuela. My heart screamed for me to sit beside her, to escape the magnetic pull of Gabriel sitting opposite Abuela.Just as I took a tentative step forward, Abuela’s voice sliced through the air like a knife, “Kiera, sit next to Gabriel,” she said with a tone that brooked no argument. My stomach twisted. Of course, she’d insist. With a measured breath and a strained smile, I made my way to the chair besid

ABUELA’S POVThe phone pressed against my ear felt heavier than it should, as if the weight of the truth I was chasing had seeped into the very device. My voice was a low, sharp whisper, slicing through the silence of the morning like a blade.“What did you find out?” I asked, the words deliberate, measured. The voice on the other end hesitated, a crackle of static, a pause too long to be innocent. Then, finally, the answer came, as infuriatingly vague as the one before it.“Nothing concrete... there’s no tangible link to her background. It’s like she’s a ghost.”A ghost? The phrase lingered, sour in my mind. Ghosts bury their secrets in shallow graves, hoping no one would dig deep enough. But I had a shovel, and patience, and a gut that had never failed me.“Keep digging,” I snapped, my voice edged with the impatience of a woman who had seen far too much.“Yes, ma’am,” came the hurried reply. The line clicked dead.I placed the phone down carefully, though the urge to slam it was a t

ELISE’S POVMy heart raced as I glanced at the clock—8 a.m. Still no sign of Miguel. Part of me felt a sense of relief; maybe this was a good thing. At least, it would give my kitty a much-needed break from his destruction. But then the thought of Freya crept in, and my mood soured instantly.I grabbed my phone, desperate for a distraction, and scrolled through my messages. One stood out—a text from my mom, asking if I had managed to “sack” Freya. Embarrassment washed over me like ice water. I tossed my phone aside, the screen lighting up with a mocking glow. What could I tell her? That I had been bested by a woman who sauntered into my home like she owned the place? The thought made me cringe. The abrupt knock on my door wasn’t a polite one. It was sharp and persistent, the kind that grated on your nerves before you even answered it. KIERA’S POVThe water was warm as it surrounded me, but it barely registered. My thoughts roared louder than the two mega speakers together, consuming me in a whirlpool of emotions I couldn’t escape. My fingers brushed against my lips as if they still held the ghost of his kiss.Gabriel.The way he kissed me... it was searing, intense, and damn it—undeniably perfect. I hated that I loved it. I hated that it left me craving more, that it lingered in my chest like an ember refusing to die. Would I be crazy to say I had missed it so much? The first thing I saw was her—Kiera, lying beside me, her face serene in sleep. In that moment, I was struck by her beauty. She was stunning in a way that made my chest tighten. Her hair tumbled in soft waves around her face, and her lips, slightly parted, looked so inviting. Watching the rise and fall of her chest was hypnotic, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away. For so long, I had held back my feelings for her, but the incident with Linda had pushed me over the edge. I had confessed my feelings without thinking, and ever since, Kiera had been acting a bit awkward around me.I knew she wouldn’t be thrilled about sharing a room, but I craved the closeness, the intimacy of just being in the same space.
