At this time of the day, most people were already back home having lunch. The streets were empty, and the public bus had yet shown up.

“Get in my car. I’ll send you guys home!” Michael pulled over in front of Christina, but she showed no interest.

“The weather is so hot out here. What if Travis gets a heat stroke?” Michael said as he opened his door and walked down from the car.

Looking at the beads of sweat forming on Travis’s forehead, Christina finally gave way and the both of them got into Michael’s car.

Michael was so delighted that he made sure to drive steadily. “Travis, are you hungry?”

“Yes, I am!”

“Let Uncle Michael bring you somewhere nice to eat, okay?”

Travis could do little to resist the lucrative offer. He was about to say yes but as he swept a glance at the look on his mother’s face, he refrained himself and said, “It’s okay, Uncle Michael. Thanks for your offer.”

Ok, Michael is irritating as f*ck and I hate him but for gawd’s sake Christina where is your backbone while your ex that you hate inserts himself in to your son’s life and overrides all your decisions?!?
