Olivia leaned in and kissed him back. Within a few seconds, it was getting intense, and his hands started exploring her body, going over her breasts, down to her inner thighs, he brought his fingers back up and brushed them through her hair.

Olivia was about to lie back down with him on top of her when her consciousness started to scream at her. This was Titan Black the cold-blooded murderer of Penelope, the one who imprisoned her, and who felt justified in all the injustice he meted out. And yet, once again, here was her body succumbing to him again.

"Get off me," Olivia said roughly, pushing him off. He didn't deserve her. He could live a thousand lifetimes and still be unworthy of her.

"What's the problem, Olivia? You were into it and all of a sudden…"

"Get out," she commanded.

"What?"

"You're not deaf or stupid are you?" she asked coldly.

"Look Olivia…"

"Beat it!"

"What is your problem, Olivia?"

"You killed Penelope Titan, deny it all you like but we both know it's tru

Leonard Carter stood outside the dazzling, palatial mansion unsure about what to do. Even from several meters away, he could smell his intrusion; the fact that he was unwelcome in the midst of such splendor and wealth. It was the third day in a row he had come out here, but had lacked the balls to go in. Even stepping up to the gates and knocking was a problem. It would take a load of guts he did not currently have at his disposal. He knew that just like anyone else with a half instinct, the stationed guards would perceive he was an intruder. Unwanted and unwelcome. And with how much security had been compromised, they would be undeniably jittery. Without thinking, they would turn him over to Titan Black in a heartbeat. Leonardo did not fear Titan Black, even though he was privy to the legendary tales of brutality spread far and wide of the infamous King. He was trained in the art of warfare, and even though he had not devised a hundred creative ways of racking up kills or techniqu

"You're not getting any better at this, Maya," Olivia said. "Checkmate baby girl,""What? No!" Maya yelled surprisingly.Sunlight streamed brilliantly into one of the living rooms upstairs, illuminating the chessboard that sat between them. The room was bathed in the incandescence of the late afternoon and they were on their third chess game for the day. Olivia had won the last two and had just checkmated Maya - again."You're cheating!" Maya wailed. "I'm not a sore loser, Olivia,"Olivia chuckled. "I'm not cheating, I just understand the dynamics of the game better than you. You have to see yourself as an army general, and your pieces as combatants. And generals are strategic and creative if they want to win a battle. Your moves are so amateurish, I can see and predict them from a mile away. And why are you always so afraid to sacrifice your pawns? Knights, bishop, and the queen are the major players you know,""Fine, if you beat me again, I'll have to talk to Asher about teaching m

Titan had his hands folded across his fleshly muscled chest as he watched his younger sister try to stealthily enter the house. Too bad, she was too preoccupied with her back to see who was in front. "Well, I hope you have a reasonable excuse for whatever the hell you're doing here," Titan said."Titan!" Maya said, placing her hands on her chest with relief. "You scared me,""What are you doing here at this time?""Well, I…""Don't bother with lies, because I saw you distract the guards, while Olivia sneaked out.""Well, she uhm-" Maya faltered."She what?"Maya was silent, stalling for time, with her mind racing in different directions."Tell me something Maya, do you want your generous allowance to cease? You know, disappear into thin air?""What? Titan, you can't…"Titan moved forward, enunciating each word with deliberate slowness so that she did not miss the essence."If you don't tell me where Olivia went, you might as well start planning to sell all the pricey stuff in that dep

The intensity of Olivia's screams increased. "Would you quit yelling?" Titan asked irritably. "Sound travels faster at night." Leo's heart pounded like a drum. The car was completely surrounded by armed men. There was nowhere to escape. He had never hated Titan Black as much as he did at this moment. The scornful cackles, the leering evil victorious beaming, flooded his whole being with venomous hatred, so strong, it was almost unreal. Here he was savoring this horrifying moment; enjoying it deeply. Leo felt like lunging at him and killing him, but that would be outright murder. He couldn't let Olivia die for his recklessness. "Get out of the car," Titan commanded quietly. "One false move, you're dead," he warned. Leo was not a pushover and he wasn't going to let himself be treated as one. He looked Titan directly in the eyes, defiantly and uttered the catastrophic word, "No," Titan smiled dangerously. "No?" In the blink of an eye, Titan came around and yanked Leo out of the car

Titan stood up. A maid gave another maid a sly smirk. This was more salacious than any drama in the cinemas right now. All everyone needed was to be served popcorn and drinks. "Excuse me? Your what?" Titan asked. "Answer me, Maya, goddammit,""You heard me, Titan," Maya said boldly. "So let him go,""This is nonsense," Titan said dismissively."No, it's not, and as a werewolf, I think you know how mating works, don't you?""You're going to have to do better than that if you are going to explain why this asshole is your mate," Titan said, glancing at Leo who was now standing tall and straight, looking at Maya. The longer this dragged on and he stood there, the stronger he became."I don't know how to explain it, I just got to know today when you dragged him in here. I took one look at him, and I knew," Tears stung her eyes but she blinked them away. "What am I supposed to say, Titan? He is my mate,"Titan swore, throwing his glass of whiskey across the wall. The drama was too much for

Titan burst into his study angrily. He locked the doors to get a grip on his bearings. The effrontery she had to compare him to her low-grade father who had the unfortunate legacy of being remembered as a sick twisted murderer. A man who had so much charm and enviable charisma he could draw in anyone effortlessly. But the moment they crossed him, he would weave a complex torturous web of manipulation, tighten it inexorably until it metamorphosed into murder and incomprehensible destruction. His modus operandi was almost preternatural. To date, no one knew the intricate details that culminated into the gruesome murder of Andre and Cecilia Black. It had all remained enshrined in intrigue and mystery. Well, he was a killer. It came with the territory and the title. Hell, establishing himself as King had come at the cost of several killing sprees. He was lethal and ruthless, but at least everyone knew him for what he was. He didn't pretend to be who he wasn't, weaving unsuspecting m

Two whole days had passed, and yet Olivia Carter remained in her self-imposed isolation. Other than taking a shower, she'd done nothing but sit by her windows and watch life go by. She couldn't bear to see the face of Titan Black or anyone else related to him. The only person she yearned to see was her brother and of course, he was out of her reach. Titan had made sure of it and she wondered if there was anything to salvage from their singed, scorched earth relationship. It would take a mountainous miracle for her to get past everything and still stay sane not to mention rekindling anything with the catalyst of it all. There was a tentative knock on the door, and then a heavier one. Olivia listened but made no attempts to move forward and open it. Whoever was knocking would eventually get tired of knocking and leave. "Olivia? Please open up the door, please?" It was Maya and although the pleading note in her voice was evident, Olivia knew it would take more than pleas to extricate

Titan stalked out of the dungeons in anger. Needing something to channel his inner rage, he went to the training ground and gym, where he started to box out his frustrations and fired some shots from a gun. A stupid poor church rat like Leo had the audacity to defy him and even make demands? Self-preservation was the strongest instinct in any creature. Once that instinct was overcome, there was nothing more to lose and once there was nothing more to lose, the victim became powerful. Perhaps, Olivia was all Leo had left to lose. However, somehow he knew Titan would never hurt a hair on Olivia's head. Which gave him a much bigger advantage. Titan increased his exercises in intensity. Hours later, when he was back to boxing, he felt a presence in the gym. "Hey, how did it go with Leo?" Asher asked from behind."I'd rather not talk about it, and as you can see I'm busy,""Busy sweating out your frustrations with a punching bag? Well, yeah that says a lot about how it all went down.""

And just like that she began to cry.Olivia looked up wearily. "Nate, would you be kind enough to leave Arielle's paintings alone please, don't you have yours?"Nate, a cherubic, vibrant bubbly kid with dark hair and his father's gray eyes piped up. Rumours were rife throughout the house that Titan and Miriel were both talking privately in his home office. The omega maid he'd directed to go and fetch her had told all the others in the kitchen, and when Asher had gone to help himself to some snacks, he heard them talking about it with so much excitement that he had to inform Maya. Maya had suggested they keep it away from Olivia, but Olivia had found out anyway. She had retreated to the orchard, where there was a swing meant for kids, but she sat down on it, thinking of Miriel and Titan all alone in the office. Logically she knew they had to talk and iron out the intricate issues of the past. Emotionally, this logic was hard to swallow. Like the brain explaining endlessly to the heart. "There you are," Asher said out of the blue. She looked up. "I was hoping not to be found,""It's a big ginormous house but there is only a number of places you can hide,""So what are you hiding from?" she asked."Me? Nothing, you?""I'm not hidi

Asher led Olivia away. Miriel watched them from the foyer noting the bulge of the other woman's stomach. She'd heard rumors about her and about how smitten Titan was with her. Back in her bedroom, Olivia sat down on the couch in her balcony. Her Olive eyes stared up the ceiling looking at nothing. Asher watched her for a while. "Are you okay?""My husband's ex-girlfriend just made an appearance from the grave and you're asking me if I'm okay?""It's a lot to take in," he agreed. "But I don't think she's a threat,""Why not?" "Because she called me herself, told me she wanted to see Titan and talk to him.""I'm not sure I can agree she's not a threat Asher. Why appear now? If she's been in the Kingdom, she heard of our wedding. Of my coronation. Why is she just coming now when she has been alive all this time if she doesn't have ulterior motives?""I don't want you to worry your head about this Olivia, mental anxiety is one of the things Harley warned us about. "More like you have both been too busy playing sex games to check on her,""Hey don't act all moralistic pretending you and Maya don't schedule booty calls in weird parts of the house. Summer was converging at it's end. The skies were no longer encumbered with the beautiful western sunrise, and propitious rainfall meant to usher in the winter had been falling continuously. Titan Black was lost in thought as his chauffeured Rolls Royce cruised on the highway.Troubled thunderheads had sprung up and were already erasing the early sun from the skies, but he barely noticed. He was just coming back from his final meeting with the other packs who had been pressuring him to release the captives and give the members of the golden truce pack back their lives. Finally, after months of tension, back and forth accusations and counter accusations, coaxing, and cajoling, the captives and his opposers were finally on the same page. The Golden truce pack and Silver Crest pack would be merged into one, under Titan's hegemonic control as their sole leader. There was equally signed documentation by each party that gave him the authority to not just annex their territory, but to pres

"Olivia!"His hysterical shouts caused Maya, Celine and Ryan to rush into the room at breakneck speed. "What's going on?" someone asked. Titan didn't turn to see who it was. "She's getting some things for me from the market,""Goddamnit!" Titan swore."Titan, why not take a deep breath and check if she still has a pulse?" Celine suggested. In his paranoia and destability, Titan had forgotten completely. He checked her pulse and heartbeat. "It's all there but it's weak," he announced."Oh no," "Maya I need you to get Harley on the phone right now," Titan ordered. "Tell her to rush down here at once. It's an emergency,""Sure, of course," Maya said, scurrying out of the room.Ten minutes later, Harley came in. Yet for Titan, the waiting had felt like an age. And he had not been able to stay calm. Leo slept beside Maya on the bed where she had birthed their child. Olivia sat in the far corner, rocking the child silently. The doctors had all gone to sleep in freshly prepared quarters. Olivia sat alone with the baby rocking her gently."Arielle, Crystal Black, welcome," she said gently. "And just like your name connotes, you are as bright as the moon."The following morning, Olivia called Titan while everyone else was having breakfast. "You'll never guess who came into the world last night," she said with a smile."I can't believe I missed her birth because of partisan politics," Titan said with a tone of regret. "How are they?""Mother and baby are just fine. Oh, you should see her Titan, her features are unbelievable. She's going to grow up to be such a beauty.""Well, she's got good genes," Titan said."Hold up, is that an indirect compliment towards my brother?" He chuckled. One week later, Titan was still not back. But Olivia had made sure she spoke with him on the phone each day, ending each call with how much she loved and missed him. She told him about her lessons with Mellor, animating her stories with everything she had and not skipping out on any anecdotes. Titan felt the meetings were getting more protracted, but he did his best to hide his displeasure. He was on the opposing side and he needed to prove his point and himself. The captives as free men were a threat to his kingdom.Surely they had to see that. But the other packs did not see it. They insisted that if any attacks were launched at him after he freed the captives, they would come together as one and fight by his side. A great suggestion, except that Titan Black didn't get where he was by putting his fate in the hands of others. And that was his main argument. Everyday, he discussed this with Olivia and Asher, who was in the heart of Gaza fighting alongside the Israelis. "You all hav

The party stayed on till dawn. But Olivia and Titan sneaked out early, simply to have their first intimate copulation as royals. It was still surreal and still hard for her to believe and accept that in the space of a year, she had gone from the depths of slavery to the heights of royalty. The lovemaking between them was orgasmic and heated as always. So intense that it was hard to tell when time passed and how much time had passed. The following morning when she opened her eyes, Titan was gone, and she kept her hands on his side of the bed for awhile to savour his warmth, before getting out of the bed to prepare for the day. No doubt, Mellor would eagerly make an appearance today to start his lessons and she had to appear as a sharp, incisive and inquisitive student with the most brilliant of minds. Downstairs, she found Harley and Maya seated behind the massive kitchen counter, drinking fresh orange juice from the pitcher between them."No breakfast?" Olivia asked pouring herself
