I ran and ran, my heart pounding heavily in my chest as I fled from my mate, Azriel. I refused to be used as his breeder, determined to escape from his pack. With renewed hope surging through me, I pushed myself harder. However, it wasn't long before I heard the sound of Azriel's footsteps closing in on me.
I picked up my pace, hoping to outrun him, but my efforts proved futile. I could feel his hot breath on my neck, and I knew I had to think fast. Frantically searching for an escape route, I scanned the surroundings, but all I could see were trees and bushes.
Then, suddenly, the sound of Azriel's footsteps disappeared. It was hard to believe - had he given up? Afraid it might be a trap, I didn't dare look back. I continued running until the sun began to set, casting a dark shadow across the sky.
Unsure of my destination, I knew I had to keep moving. Every second was precious, and I couldn't afford to waste any time. Finally, as night fell and darkness enveloped the surroundings, I reached a point of complete exhaustion. I could no longer sustain my pace, feeling like I might faint at any moment.
I decided to take a rest at an unknown place. I lay flat on the dried leaves in the bush and closed my eyes. I focused on catching my breath. My heart continued to pound heavily within me, threatening to burst from my chest. My eyelids grew heavy and drowsy, and I convinced myself that a brief nap wouldn't hurt.
Yet, my rest was abruptly interrupted by shuffling sounds emanating from the woods. I froze, immediately springing to my feet and grabbing a sharp thorny stick from the ground. Holding it threateningly in my right hand, I turned to confront the presence I felt watching me from behind.
"Who are you? Show yourself!" I demanded, my voice steady despite the trembling within. I refused to reveal any fear, aware that they could use it to their advantage.
As I slowly backed away, the sensation of being watched persisted. I sniffed the air, attempting to discern the creature's identity through its scent. To my surprise, the unknown being carried no scent.
Without warning, I instinctively bolted in the opposite direction. I bit my lips as the sharp twigs on the ground pierced into my skin, but I didn't stop as the pain spread through my body. I knew that if I stayed there one more minute, I was going to get killed.
The bush was pitch black, and there was no single sign of light in sight. Suddenly, I felt a whoosh of air fly past me, and before I knew it, I found myself on the ground with four red eyed creatures glaring down at me.
Their blood-red eyes and menacing fangs sent shivers down my spine. I realized I was facing vampires—creatures who fed on blood.
How had I gone from the frying pan into the raging fire?
I desperately tried to scramble to my feet, but the vampires proved faster. They pinned me down, their cold breath chilling my skin. One of them leaned in, baring his fangs. "You smell delicious," he whispered, his voice sending chills down my spine. The foul stench of rotten blood wafted from his mouth, almost causing me to retch.
Realizing that time was running out, I knew I had to act swiftly, or I would become their next meal. Another vampire examined me, scrutinizing my figure on the ground. He grabbed my wrist, sniffing it deeply. "Hmmm... You're right, Durcam. She does smell delicious. But her blood has a peculiar scent, wouldn't you agree?"
Then the four stinky vampires proceeded to sniff my body like perverts, I swallowed the bile in my throat and my vision rapidly blurred with tears as I resisted the urge to throw up every content of my stomach.
As the four vampires continued their intrusive and repulsive actions, sniffing my body with an unsettling intensity, I struggled to suppress the bile rising in my throat. Tears blurred my vision, but I fought the urge to vomit and empty the contents of my stomach. A tear escaped my eye, tracing a path down my cheek, which Durcam, the one whose name I remembered, swiftly captured with his index finger and greedily placed it into his mouth. He moaned in satisfaction as he sucked on his finger, savoring the taste. My stomach curled in disgust and I knew I was between the thin line of throwing up on their faces.
"Her tears taste sweet too! Her blood smells different and... unique. Who knows what more we could discover from her? The leader will undoubtedly be proud of us for this newfound discovery!" Durcam exclaimed with excitement. He took another tear from my eyes, nearly blinding me with his sharp fingers, and repeated the grotesque act.
Disgust overwhelmed me, and I couldn't understand the deranged behavior of these vampires. Licking someone else's tears was far from normal. In that moment, regret flooded my thoughts, questioning if I had made a wise decision by attempting to escape from Azriel. It seemed like the worst mistake I had ever made. Throughout my time with Azriel, he had never harmed me. I wished he would miraculously appear and rescue me from these bloodsucking monsters, but deep down, I knew it was an unrealistic hope. Even if he heard my pleas for help, after everything I had put him through, he wouldn't care if I lived or died.
"We should savor a taste of her before presenting her to the leader, don't you think?" they whispered among themselves, sending a shiver down my spine. My heart raced as they schemed, fully aware that if I became their prey, my chance of survival would diminish rapidly. "We shouldn't miss this golden opportunity. Once the master catches wind of her blood, he'll never allow us near her anymore. You know how greedy he is. We must act now; it's our only chance," The vampire whose name I didn't know tried to convince them and it was clearly working.
A lightbulb seemed to illuminate their minds as they nodded in agreement. Their predatory gazes fixated on me, and I gasped at the hunger I saw in their eyes. Slowly, they advanced towards me, each step filled with sinister intent.
Trembling with fear, I backed away, my body betraying me. I knew that screaming would be futile in this desolate thick forest, where no one would hear my desperate cries for help.
A tortured scream escaped my lips as one of the vampires grabbed me and sank his fangs into the delicate skin of my neck. Excruciating pain flooded my senses and a tortured scream ripped out of my lips. The pain surpassed any agony I had experienced in my entire life. But as quickly as it appeared, the pain vanished.
Opening my eyes, I witnessed the vampire who had bitten me being forcefully thrown to the ground, accompanied by a sickening crack. Relief surged within me as Azriel's golden eyes met mine. They radiated with anger and rage and shined brighter than ever before. They glowed in the dark and the vampires scrambled to their feet, probably already knowing who he was.
“T-the Golden eyed Alpha?” I heard them stutter among themselves in horror. “Why would he want to save that worthless bitch?” Azriel's head snapped towards them as soon as he heard their words and at that moment, I knew the vampires would not survive his wrath.
For the first time since meeting him, Azriel's presence brought a sense of calm. I told myself I would be fine.
Right?
Loud howls of pain and the sickening sound of bones cracking pierced the air as I stood frozen, watching in awe and disbelief as my mate, Azriel, underwent a magnificent transformation. Before me, he morphed into a majestic, golden wolf. My eyes widened with shock, and my mouth hung open in astonishment at the breathtaking sight before me. The wolf's fur radiated an ethereal glow, illuminating the darkness around us. Its towering height cast a shadow over me, and its eyes, still the familiar golden hue but now tinged with a darker shade, pierced through my soul. In a split second, the wolf darted forward, closing the distance between itself and one of the vampires—Durcam. With a menacing display of sharp canines, Azriel unleashed a powerful roar, locking his teeth onto the vampire's neck and tearing it away with a force that sent the severed head tumbling to the ground, mere inches away from me. A scream of terror threatened to escape my throat at the horrifying scene that unfolded
D E L I L A H I dropped the hair comb on the counter and stared at my reflection through the mirror. It was undeniable that I was visibly glowing after drinking Azriel's blood two days ago. I had tried to deny the fact, but there was nothing else that would explain it. What could that mean? And I hadn't seen Azriel for the past two days. It seemed like he was deliberately avoiding me for reasons unknown to me. I needed answers. I wanted to know what drinking his blood meant. I knew my life was never going to remain the same again after crossing paths with him, and the thought scared me. I didn't want anything that would bind me to him. My stance remained unchanged. I never wanted to be anyone's breeder, and what happened two days ago hadn't changed anything. Giving myself one last look, I walked out of the closet in my temporary room. Much to my dismay, Azriel had gotten clothes for me, and now I had loads of outfits that I would probably never wear in "my" closet. He still didn't
A Z R I E L“We are having a meeting in an hour. Inform all the warriors. There would be a penalty for coming late, I expect every single one of them to be in the meeting room before I arrive there. Understood?” I instructed Nolan, my Gamma. “On it, Alpha.” Nolan replied firmly and I ended the call. I dropped the phone on the bed with a heavy sigh. The past few days have been hell for me. What was I saying? The past couple of weeks were hell for me. Delilah had made sure of that. When I had initially thought about having a mate, I definitely didn't expect a fiesty and smart mouthed one.An unconscious smile pulled at my lips as I thought about her. Surely, she was growing on me. There was just something that drew me to her. Even before finding out she was the chosen breeder, there was just something about her that felt so magnetic. The pull was irresistible no matter how infuriating she could be. And I knew she felt it too, but was doing everything within her power to fight it.Well,
A Z R I E L “Alpha, a body has been found in the woods. It was brutally mutilated and unrecognizable.” My fingers tightened around the phone as I read the text from Vikram. I knew who was behind this. Fucking Elijah. I threw the phone across the room, making a cracking sound that someone outside must have probably heard. I was fuming. My body shook with unfiltered rage as I imagined myself strangling Elijah until life died out of his eyes. I've never craved someone else's blood like I did his. The door silently creaked open, making me snap my head towards it's direction. Delilah flinched as soon as she saw my posture but surprisingly she didn't run away like I had expected her to. “Uhm, are you okay?” She asked, her eyebrows crinkling with… worry? I wasn't in the mood for her games this morning. “I'm fine. Go to your room.” I gritted out, dismissing her. “But—” “Just go to your fucking room, Delilah. Do as you're told for once!” She flinched at my tone and immediately left th
D E L I L A HWe were back at the mansion. Azriel got out of the car as soon as it came to a stop and walked into the hours with his shoulders slumped. I immediately rushed after him to see him heading towards the bar. He brought out a bottle of whiskey, sat down on the barstool and began chugging the drink down right from the bottle.“What are you doing?” I asked, walking over to him, hoping he would slow down from how much he was drinking. He didn't even wince as the alcohol burned down his throat. “What does it look like I'm doing?” Well, the grumpy Azriel was back. I walked up to him and snatched the bottle from him, drinking it right from the bottle. The taste burned down my throat but I couldn't seem to stop.Azriel raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Stop it, Delilah. Give it back.” He gritted out.I ignored him. “It's all my fault, you know?” I said, already feeling light headed.“What the fuck are you talking about?” He asked in confusion.“That young guy's death, it–”“No,
D E L I L A H I woke up to a pounding headache. I literally felt like my skull was going to split into two. I let out a groan and attempted to get up from the bed, but my head felt too heavy to carry. I was never going to drink that much again if this was how I'm going to feel every freaking time. I was finally able to get up by palming my head in my hands as I walked towards the bathroom. I got to the cabinets and brought out an aspirin. I popped two into my mouth and chugged it down with water.I checked the clock in the room and my eyes widened in shock. I had slept for that long? It was two in the afternoon, I couldn't believe it.I let out a sigh and began undressing. I needed a warm bath. My muscles felt painful and sore. After peeling off all my clothes, I turned on the warm water and filled the large jacuzzi. I put in a lavender scented bubble soap and finally slipped in.A satisfied moan slipped out front my lips as the water touched my skin. I laid back and placed my head
D E L I L A HThe library is my favorite place in this house. It was a place where I could just drown the world out and have a moment to myself. To just… breath. It's officially two months since I've been brought into this pack. Two months of not living my life the way I wanted. Two months of not seeing my grandmother. Two months of not hearing her sweet voice singing to me as I cooked.God, I missed her so much. I worried for her. Was she eating properly? Was she taking her drugs? Who cooked her meals? They were the questions that continued swimming through my mind.My parents had died when I was only five. I didn't know them much, only heard good things about them. And a few pictures of them. I couldn't even recall any memories with my parents.Grandma Alma had easily filled in the position of both parents in my life from a tender age and I couldn't have it any other way. She had always told me of how much I reminded her of my mother, her daughter because we bore a striking resem
D E L I L A H I just got comfortable in the living room, reading another book I got from the library when the doorbell rang. Carla, who was busy in the kitchen (she always was), I'm starting to think that woman is addicted to cooking. She smiled at me and walked to the door. I could hear her voice and someone else's voice at the door. But I couldn't quite see the person's face. Carla seemed pretty happy to see her. My brows creased as I wondered if it was the woman Azriel was talking about. Finally, a beautiful girl with dark long hair walked into the house with a huge smile on her face and multiple bags in her hands. But I got the shock of my life when she excitedly walked towards me, dropped the bags to the ground and threw me into a hug. Did I mention that she threatened to squeeze the life out of me too? “Omg, you're so much beautiful in person! I can't believe I waited this long to finally meet you!” She squealed after pulling away. I finally got a good look at her feature
