“What do you want?” Amelia's voice came out frostily and Mr Hills let out a stiff chuckle, which sent sparks flying around the office and Madam Jenny apologized.
“Amelia” Madam Jenny banged her fist on the desk. “Do you have no idea of what you have done? You hit this young man on the face and still you have the guts to become so rude? He is a model of his company and not supposed to have a scratch on his face. But there is a red bump on his face and instead of taking legal actions, he wants to settle this issue quietly so you be grateful and apologize to him this instant.”
Amelia only pursed her lips and started to move it soundlessly. They haven't even given her a room to explain what happened and yet they wanted an apology from her? Never! She wasn't going to say such a thing!
“I didn't do anything wrong” she rebuked in a frosty tone. By now her folded fists were already turning pale. “He tried to force himself on me and I lost my cool and hit him on the face. It was self defense and he's the one at fault. So what did I do wrong?”
When Mr Hills heard her nonchalant reply, he could not help but clench his fists. Smirking coldly, he scoffed, “I can no longer tolerate these insults, Madam Jenny. Get ready for a lawsuit because your club is going down”
Hearing his reply, Madam Jenny held his hands but he threw it away and made his way towards the door.
“Amelia what are you doing? Please, you need to say something. He just needs an apology from you. Please, this bar is my only source of income and without it I don't think I can survive.” Madam Jenny shook Amelia but she only pursed her lips.
Slowly the cries and pleas from the woman in front of her gave her a heartache. Madam Jenny has been like a mother to her even though she was a bit bitter, she had often paid her in advance whenever she needed her salary and right now the least she could do was to stop all this drama.
Amelia just couldn't watch the heartbreaking scene in front of her anymore, so she matched towards the door and placed her hands on his, stopping him from opening the door.
Slowly her voice came out soft and heart melting “I am sorry Mr Hiller, please forgive my nonchalant behavior towards you.”
Letting out a triumphant smirk, he reached slowly for her hair tucked behind her ear and said “I will only accept your apology unless you agree to spend a night with me.”
The color in Amelia's face faded away instantly. She stared at the man in front of her in disbelief and responded in a frosty tone. “What did you just say?” She scoffed “A night with you? What do you take me for? A slut?” Amelia hollered panting heavily.
Madam Jenny nudged Amelia's arm and then whispered “You can just do it Amelia, after all working at a club isn't just all about serving drinks but also serving your customers too. Just do it and I will pay you double your usual payment.” Madam Jenny showed her fingers to Amelia's face. “That is ten thousand dollars.”
Amelia chuckled at Madam Jenny's words. She was beyond speechless. What do they take her for? A gold digger? someone who is willing to do anything for money?
Amelia turned to Madam Jenny and pointed a finger at her. “Mind the way you speak to me. Otherwise I might lose my cool. Do I look like a prostitute to you?.” She then turned to Me Hiller and let out a harmonious laugh. “Did you just ask me to spend a night with you?”
Mr Hiller only chuckled at her impulsive response. He reached to touch her face and she slapped his hands off which resulted in him rolling his eyes.
“Yes or did you not hear me correctly? I said you spend a night with me and I will pretend like nothing happened.” he said, sounding more vividly this time and rolled his eyes “Stop acting like a saint you are not. I'm sure so many men must have had a taste of that thing in-between your legs.”
Amelia looked daggers at the man in front of her. She couldn't believe that he would actually say something like that to her. Just who does he think he is?
“Say something.” Mr Hiller edged in close to her as she remained silent. “Do you agree to spend a night with...”
*Slap*
Before he could complete his statement, Amelia unleashed her anger and sent her palms across his cheeks. She could no longer tolerate his attitude.
The slap was unexpected for the man. He was instantly dumbstruck as he held onto his red cheek and looked at the woman in front of him with shock and surprise. Who would have thought that the woman in front of him could actually slap him so hard? Doesn't she know who he is?
Madam Jenny gasped immediately and Amelia palm landed on Mr Hiller's cheek. She then yelled“Amelia what have you done?!”
Amelia scoffed at Madams Jenny scream. Her previously paled face was now flushed red with fury. Tears welled up in her eyes but she refused to let them flow on her cheeks and bit hard on her bottom lips.
Amelia took a deep breath and blinked her eyes severally before she spat. “You can have the f"cking club to yourself and do whatever you want with it because I'm done.”
With that said, she matched towards the door and placed her hands on the knob. As soon as she opened it, Madam Jenny said “Just know that once you've stepped foot outside this room, you are no longer needed here.”
Amelia took a deep breath and without turning back, she said “I won't bother coming back here since this place makes me sick already.” she replied coldly.
With that, she slammed Madam Jenny's office door as she left without looking back.
Amelia knew that she was too angry and tired to go for her other part time jobs so, Immediately she walked out of the clubhouse and hailed a taxi and headed back home. After she arrived, she walked to the entrance and removed her shoes. Nevertheless, she was too tired and angry to step in, so she sat at the door instead, lost in her thoughts.
“Never in my twenty four years on earth have I ever been insulted this way. I never thought that I was actually a slut in the sight of others. I couldn't even defend myself of being a virgin anymore just because of that one night stand bastard. Should I just terminate this pregnancy? I really want to but at the same time I'm scared. What should I do? Just What do I do now?”
Just as the tears rolled down her cheeks, someone tapped her from behind. Amelia turned back and saw her grandfather who quickly took a seat close to her. “Amelia what is wrong? Why the tears dearest?” her grandfather voiced out after staring at her for a while and saw her reddened eyes. Amelia cleaned her tears and bit hard on her lips, her facial expression suddenly turned to a bubbly one and letting out a smile she turned to her grandfather and replied “I am not crying grandpa, I only caught a dust in my eyes. I'm totally fine.” Amelia knew that her grandfather was soon going to get sleepless nights because of her, so she had to lie in order for him to sleep well. That was how it has always been since he started taking care of her alone after the death of her grandmother. She quickly wrapped her hand around her grandfather's arm and rested her head on his shoulder, perceiving his sweet scent which she would always refer to as *Strawberry* Although her grandfather was a step
Shortly a knock was heard on the door and Norton, Clyde's personal assistant, walked in graciously as usual. He bowed briefly and reported “Mr Adric the chairman wishes to see you.” Standing up Clyde arranged his suit and marched towards the door but stopped on his track when he remembered something. Having a bleak expression on his handsome face he turned to the woman beside him. “Before I forget, when you are done taking a tour around my office you should leave.” he replied coldly, not giving her a glance. “And please I would appreciate it if you don't ever show your face in my work place again.” Ava turned immediately and she heard those words that came out of Clyde's mouth but all she saw was an open door since Clyde left before she could notice. Ava wondered how her beautiful relationship with her son came to this. Perhaps it was all her fault and she needed to carry her cross now. Biting her lips she tried to hold back the tears that had threatened to fall ever since she st
The chairman was correct, he has always hated Ferguson treating him like trash when he was older than ferguson. When Peter, Clyde's father was alive, he was at the verge of taking over the company but death took him away before he could even sign the papers. Years later and it was time for Clyde to be the Ceo and owner of the company but it didn't work out since he had refused to get married and have a child. And now Matthew, Clyde's uncle who was supposed to be the Ceo of the company handed it over to his son Ferguson, who was now the present Ceo of the company. Ever since Ferguson became the Ceo and Clyde the managing director who worked under him, it was never easy for Clyde since going to work everyday suddenly became like stepping on fiery charcoal. Was it humiliation publicly? Embarrassment? Or curses? Clyde endured all of it throughout the years. It was a fair game but too fair that it slapped Clyde's so hard on the face. He had a reason for not wanting to get married but hi
Puzzled, Amelia reached for her face and indeed it was stained with tears. Her perfect happy face was now replaced with a groggy one. When she finally understood what was going on, a scoff escaped her lips and she turned to her grandfather. “Why else do you think I'm crying grandpa?!” she sneered and resumed eating her food. Meanwhile her grandfather was still taken aback by her current change of mood. Hence he uttered no words but simply stared at her. Amelia knew her grandfather was staring at her so she avoided meeting with his eyes. However she felt her heart thumping when she saw how he was looking at her. Getting fed up she dropped her spoon in a bang. She knew he needed an answer and she was determined to give him one. “Grandpa, I was crying because you told me that you were going to take the food away if I don't slow down.” she said truculently and pushed her hair back. “Do you think it's fair? Why would you scold a grown up lady?” Her grandfather remained silent as he s
Getting out of the car, Norton closed the door in a bang and rushed over to the front only to see a young lady on the floor who was searching her body to see as if she had lost a gem. Having a baffled facial expression, Norton rushed to the young lady and squatted in front of her before he asked “Are you ok ma'am? Did you perhaps lose anything?” Amelia, who was so engrossed in searching her body for blood that she didn't notice the presence of the young man in front of her... slowly raised her head and immediately she heard his voice. Having seen him for the first time, Amelia felt as though she had seen him before. Ignoring his questions, she darted her gaze from him and to her legs again still searching for blood. Just when she didn't find any, she rubbed her stomach softly and let out a sigh of relief. “I am fine, thank you for your concern.” Amelia let out a smile and tried to stand, when Norton offered to help her instead. “Not all that ma'am, I almost hit you with the car a
Entering into his office in rage, Clyde loosened his necktie and walked straight to his desk scattering everything that was on it. He was obviously frustrated and needed something to vent his anger on.His previously paled face was now flushed red with fury. Tears welled up in those crystal clear eyes of his but he banged on his desk to stop them from touching his cheeks.Prior to this, he had swore never to cry for anyone after his mother left him when he was ten and his first love betrayed him. But right now he was helpless, having no one by his side and all he could do was cry.Letting the tears fall down on his flawless face, he let out a scream “Why? Why me?!” Luckily the office was sound proofed, therefore no one could tell what was going on inside. Amelia was seated on the couch opposite her grandfather in the sitting room. They were both mum and Amelia felt tense as she played with her fingers. Realizing that nobody was ready to say a word, Amelia sighed and decided to take the initiative to speak to clear the misunderstanding between them. “Grandfather!” she blurted out. Her hands grew a little clammy as she clutched her clothes; it was probably due to her fraying nerves. Taking a deep breath, she continued slowly, “Grandfather I can...” “Who is the father of your unborn child?” her grandfather interrupted her words as he stared at the ultrasound report in his hands. With his facial expression, one could tell he was disappointed. If there was a word more suitable for it then, the word disappointed was nowhere close to how he felt. He had lots of trouble raising her and hoped for her to one day live her dream and not end up like his daughter, her mother. However, it was already too late he felt so defeated. *Just why has
The weeks ran so fast that it was beginning to scare the hell out of Amelia. She had turned three months today and here she was again, standing in front of a mirror with her eyes fixed on her protruding belly. Sighing she walked back to her bed and sat down. The thought of going to work alone was beginning to scare her a lot. Her stomach has gotten a bit big that it can be noticed if one could take a closer look. Again if she doesn't go to work there will be no guarantee that she could pay the rent since the expiration date for the last one was drawing close. “Oh sweet lord” she rubbed her forehead softly as she was beginning to develop a headache from thinking too much. A small smile appeared on her lips and she placed her hands on her stomach before speaking. “Kiddo can you help me? Mom is going through a lot and the only way to keep making a living is by hiding you.” She stood up and walked over to the mirror again. As she stared directly at her stomach through the mirror, her
Outside the office was Norton as he stood in front of the door keeping watch. Although the office was sound proofed, he couldn't risk anyone finding out about the situation at hand.“Is she really pregnant with Mr. Adric?” Norton itched the back of his head as he asked himself. In all his five years of working with Clyde, he had come across different women claiming to have a child for his boss. But no matter how much he thinks about it, there is something peculiar and true about this particular woman. As the saying goes, the first meeting is a coincidence and the second is fate. Now that he thinks about it, their meeting wasn't really a coincidence but actually meant something.“I wonder how Mr. Adric is doing. I just hope everything goes well.” Norton muttered. He glanced at the watch on his wrist and sighed afterwards. It has already been over an hour since the young lady entered. At that moment in time, the door burst open and it revealed the angry Amelia who grumpily walked out
In the conference room, the timer in front of Clyde stopped three seconds after the briefing of the art team leader. His lips curved into a satisfactory smile as he flipped through the pages of the file in front of him. It was obvious he enjoyed the briefing presented by the art team. “Good job, everyone. I particularly enjoyed today's briefing. Also, always bear in mind to go beyond our customers expectations by working hard. Today's result is awesome doesn't mean that it will be the same tomorrow. Meeting dismissed.” Clyde concluded the meeting and returned to his office, only to meet his secretary and a young lady waiting for him.“What is going on here?” Clyde turned to Norton with a frown, expecting an explanation from him.“Mr. Adric, this young lady claims to have something very important to tell you.” Norton informed and left the office afterwards.Sighing, Clyde rubbed his temple as he walked to his desk and sat down. He loosened his neck tie and averted his amber eyes to
Amelia walked out of the jewelry shop feeling defeated. She was unable to sell the wristwatch as she had planned. She still could not bring herself to believe that the bastard who had forced himself on that night was the director of Adric designer's company. “What should I do? Should I just meet with him?” Amelia stopped on her track and asked out loud. Before she could come to a conclusion, another call from her grandfather's phone interrupted her. Amelia let out a loud sigh after realizing that it was the cake guy who had called her earlier. After a few seconds of hesitance, her fingers swiped to the answer option.“Hello sir, I will be there in a jiffy.” Amelia hung up before he could even speak a word.Afterwards she flagged down a taxi and it did not take time for her to arrive at the store. “Why didn't you come earlier to pick up the cake? Seriously, you kept me waiting!” The man in charge of the cake store scolded.“I'm sorry, I have been busy. Also, I didn't know that he or
Arriving in front of the hospital, Amelia quickly alighted from the taxi and ran her way through inside the hospital. As she entered the hall, a doctor directed to the room where her grandfather was hospitalized. The moment she entered the room, her eyes came in contact with a body covered with plain white clothing. “What is going on?” Amelia asked the doctors in a trembling voice. The doctor in charge of her grandfather bowed his head to avoid her fiery gaze and swollen facials. “My grandpa is not the person under the white clothing, is he?” Amelia asked again, this time her tears flowed on her cheeks and she wiped them with her thumbs. She was already losing it and it was obvious. Even without the doctor telling her, she already knew that her grandfather was no more. She was no fool, but as much as she wanted to accept the fact that her grandfather was dead, she just couldn't. “I'm sorry, Miss Amelia.” The doctor finally said and sighed afterwards before leaving them alone A
