A loud thud rang out through the house downstairs, making me jolt awake, my body trembling lightly as I sat up on the guest bed listening for any more racket. Jumping as I heard another loud thud followed by a few poorly choosen words. I scurried from the bed sprinting across the room to the door; cracking it just enough for me to peek through the small opening. Not hearing anymore noises or cursing from down below. I gather the small bit of courage I could aquire and made my way down the hall to the stairs, as reached the stairs the sound of glass shattering bounced off the air in the house followed by a " Oh for fucks sake! That's going to be great to fucking clean up in the morining Darren!" I hear a voice bellow out. I hurried down the stairs flicking on the livingroom light were alll the camotion seemed to be coming from. Stepping into the livingroom I am met with an upset Tawnya and the guy I presume to be Darren stuck in the frame of Tawnya's coffe table and glass scatterd around him and all over the tan carpet.

" Great Darren, look what you have done on top of breaking my table! I'm so sorry honey that we woke you up! I pray that Tasha stayed asleep because you'll have hell to pay besides shattering my table if you did!" Tawnya whisper yells looking at me with a frown, before she directs her anger towards a slurring Darren. " Well sense you are awake now, do you think you could help me get him unstuck," she asks me shaking her head and chuckling softly. " Yeah I can, but you gotta give me a few seconds to go grab my shoes so I don't cut my bare feet on the glass," I quickly say before sprinting out of the livingroom and up the stairs. Reaching the second floor I go and check on Tahsa to make sure she hasn't been ruffled awake by all the craziness, sighing with relief seeing she's still magically asleep even after all the loud thuds and shattering noises.

I hurry to the guest bedroom and pull on my scuffed up tennis shoes. As I make my way back down the stairs I hear Darren's drunken words " I'mmm sooo soorrie Taaawya, tthhe tabbble loook likke thhhe cowwch jussst shinnie," he tries to explain to her. " Your trying to tell me you plopped down on my coffe table all because you thought it was my couch just shinnier," she scoffs out not believing the words she just heard from his slurring mouth. Darren shakes his wobbley head back at her in response. I giggle inwarldy at the seen in front of me. " Okay Jasmine come over to this side and when I get to three pull as hard as you can okay," Tawnya's voice boils out in slight frustration. I nod my head quickly moving to the right side of Darren getting a firm grasp on his arm that he held out for me to grab as Tawnya grasped his left arm.

" Ok, one, two, three!" she screeches out yanking Darren forward as we pull him from the frame of the table. Darren coming close to tumbling over me as he recovered his footing from the force of being pulled roughly. " Well I guess there goes the idea of you sleeping on the couch with this mess every where, Jasmine if it doesn't inconveice you to much, can Darren crash in the guest room and you can sleep in my room for the rest of the night," Tawnya asks looking at me showing her annoyance and how tired she was. " But where are you going to sleep?" I inquire, wanting to know as my nerves started to rise as the thought of Darren being just acrossed the hallway in his drunken state. I didn't want to jump to conclusions that he would try anything to harm me. But my past experiences with people who consumed alcohol weren't the best. " I can just pull Tasha's trundle bed out and crash there for the night," she replys with a gentle tone. Thinking over her words my heart starts to pound in my chest. " No Tawnya I'm shorter so I shound take the trundle bed and you can sleep in your bed," I remark hastly, as I look over at her with a small amount of pleading in my eyes hoping that she will understand why.

" Yay that's fine, Tasha will be excited you had your sleep over in her room when she wakes up, plus, she needs to stay upstairs for a bit after she wakes up so I can get this mess cleaned up in the morning and you being in her room already will be a good distraction," she breaths out heavily, shaking her head in the process. "Can I ask you one more favor, might be a little dangerous for a few minutes... but would you be willing to help me get him up the stairs into the guestroom?" hesitating at her words not really wanting to ask me again. " Yeah I can help you, I need the exercise anyway with lifting," I respond acting like I was hoisting something up with my biceps. She giggles quietly smirking in my direction. She moves to the left side of Darren as I take the right side again. We sway back and forth heading to the stairs trying to take all the brute force of his weight as we clammered up the ten steps. A few times I worried we were going to go crashing over the railing, but luck was on our side. We managed to make it up the stiars without falling back down the steps or putting any holes in the walls. After reaching the top we hung onto a passed out Darren that made it feel like we were carrying a giant boulder. Gently pushing the door open with my shoe. We scurry inside the room over to the bed laughing a little at the motion of Darren bouncing on the mattress from his weight as we let go of him.

Tawnya and I huffed and puffed falling to the floor as our legs finally gave out recognizing we were done. We both sat there breathing heavily for quite sometime, before we stood and removed our selves from the room heading downstairs to grab a drink of water. Showing the exhaustion in our bones we both placed our head on the cool surface of the wooden table glancing over to each other on and off. Hearing Tawnya snicker as she went to say " Well that'll be the last time I offer any a place to stay to a fellow coworker after they've been drinking all night." I grimaced at all the hard work it took us to get one man up stairs to a bed. " Yeah, I've never been one to understand the appeal of drinking, it smells horrible ninety percent of the time and if you drink way to much you risk getting sick, a huge migraine and in worse cases you pee all over yourself or be irresponsible and drive intoxcated," I state with a grotesque face. " Yeah me either honey," she answers rolling her eyes at the situation of people drinking. " Well I suppose we should go our seperates ways and head up stairs to try and grab those last couples hour to sleep while we still can," Tawnya softly says, yawning at her own words as she jestered towards the stairs.

My body felt like I was still carrying that boulder as I trudged up the staircase next to Tawnya. Both our steps were slow and angozing as the muscles in our bodies screamed not to be used anymore. Tawnya and I said our goodnights and headed into our rooms seeking relief. I was glad T had two nightlights to help light up her room. I surely would of fallen a few times over all the toys strung from one side of her room to the other and woke her up. Quielty I made my way over to her bed, bending down I yanked on the trundle underneath cringing at the high pitched sqeaking that came from the wheels as they rolled along the floor. Looking over at T I watched as her cute face scrunched at the noise before she turned over facing the wall. I darted out the room to the hallway closet to grab an extra pillow and blanket before finally settling down onto the pull out bed. Laying down I relaxed letting a huge yawn escape from my mouth. Closing my eyes a small smile tugs at my lips as my mind brings me back to the beautiful dress and jewelery I was secretly given this evening. My brain becoming a hopless romantic at the thought of meeting the person who thinks I'm beautiful as I drift off into a blissfull sleep. Something that has been out of reach to me for a very long time.

Waking up the next day to the steady sound of the alarm beeping, I could feel every tight pinch of my muscles, as they protested angerly with every slight movement I took. Sitting up I say a quiet thank you to whoever maybe listening up above thankful to see Tasha was still peacefully sleeping. I don't think I could have dealt with her pulling and hugging on my legs at the moment. Today was going to be a long day at school, three hours of sleep wasn't much to go on for the day. Grabbing my back pack I slowly move to stand, groaning as I made my way out of the room and across the hall to the bathroom. Happy to see that it was empty. I quickly walked in turning and locking the door behind me. Moving at a snails pace I head over to the shower, grumbling out as a sharp pain radiated down my back from bending over to turn it on. My arms felt like jello everytime I lifted them to wash or rinse my hair, at one point I had even dropped the soap, watching it slide back and fort

I couldn't do anything but stare out the back window as Tawnya's car pulled further away from my house. My whole body was filling to the brim with dread, as I passed through the wooden doors and into the office. Seeing Mrs. Mullberry and Mrs. Sanchez both standing at the front desk. I watched as Mrs. Mullberry nervously strummed her fingers acrossed the top of it, making my stomach sink. She usually was only here in the mornings or if.... I didn't even get to finish that thought before I heard her voice squeak out " Oh my goodness there you are my sweet girl," as she came rushing over to me crushing me in a bear hug. " Mrs. Mullberry, I can't breath," I try to squeeze out. " Oh! I'm sorry sweety, I was so worried about you when I didn't see you and your step father sign in this morning," her words were frantic and laced with so much terror. I was thankful for her, even though at times I thought she was a bit over dramatic.... Nevertheless, I understood her fear that her words were coated with. As soon as she released me, I quickly scanned the office making sure he wasn't here. M

Students and teachers started to pour into the hallway, trying to figure out what was going on after Mr. Wiser started frantically screaming for help. I let my body slowly side down against the brick wall slightly jolting at the cold from the tile floor as it seeped into my bottom. I sighed in relief that help would soon be on it's way. Still my brain chose to remember that frightful morning, I had woken up feeling the sticky sensation pulling at my skin as I tried to lift my head off of my torn blanket. I had laid in a pool of my own blood. Blood, there was so much blood and now the boy who I had just met two days ago now laid on the white tile floor as his own blood seeped down the side of his face staining his beautiful golden locks. Luckily my step father never returned Mrs. Winters phone call. The engine roared to life as Mrs. Mullberry turned the ignition, quickly slamming the truck into drive has she hit the gas jolting me back into the seat. Making my heart race even faster from the sudden movement. I couldn't help but glance at the side mirror, waitng for his face to appear once more. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he knew I was in the truck and now it would only be a matter of time before we would get caught, because all he had to do was relay the message that he saw Mrs. Mullberry driving away with me in the truck to the social worker and the cops would be alerted to find us. Even as my heart pounded in my chest as all these thoughts raced through my brain. Only one kept pushing to the front and that was I needed to get away from Mrs. Mullberry and fast, before they caught up to us. There was no way I could let her go to jail over helping me. " You got to be fucking kidding me! So your telling me, he called Child Services on me and now the same social worker from before is on her way over to my house right now to pick up Jasmine..... all because he told them he was afraid I was going to attack him!" she yelled, jumping to her feet as she quickly ran over to her livingroom window and looked out.
