Carly's POV

As I walked through the reception, heading to the CEO's office, I noticed the strange looks from the workers. They stared at me as if I were a ghost. She was once the COO of the company, I wondered if the position wasn't enough for her to even thought of claiming mine.

The news about my dismissal must had spread like a wildfire among the workers for them to stared at me like that I couldn't quite place the look on their faces, it was either sympathy or amusement. They must had sympathized that I was removed from my position, or amused to see a war between two sisters.

I stepped into the elevator, pressing the button for the last floor button. Then the door closed and it began to move. My heart beat hysterically in my chest with trepidation. What my visit with my sister would be like? I rubbed my sweaty palms together anxiously. I couldn't believe that I was this scared about my confrontation with my sister.

What if it was her true intentions to hurt me? I questioned m

If she had seen her sister and confirmed that I was right, or proved that I was wrong. However, I was confident that there was no way I was wrong because I knew what her

It was like my common sense had gone numb.I raised my head and watched as the betrayal Mark argued with Steven. My stomach tightened into a knot at the sight of him, and an unknown fury boiled up in me. What esle did he want from me ?Hadn't he caused me enough pain already? What else did he want? Steven's Pov I couldn't let myself be swayed by this sudden, uncalled-for feelings that were affecting me. Everytime I looked into her eyes, a strange sensation erupted inside me, such feelings I never had before. And which I was scared of, because my instincts nudged me that it was danger. And one must stay away from danger to avoid getting hurt. “Right now?" She asked, sounding surprised. Her blue eyes bulged, staring wide at me, causing the same unwanted feeling to wash over me. But I decided to keep these sudden feelings in check, acting nonchalant.“Do you think if we have the wedding immediately, people won't be suspicious of us? Especially my grandfather." I explained, knowing that someone as skeptical as grandfather would suspect I had planned it out if we do it right away.“Your grandfather?" She prompted, looking at me questioningly.“He is the reason why I'm doing this thing. He threatened me to remove me as CEO of I don't marry." I said, feeling heave of annoyance.“A

Carly's POV My breath cut in my throat as realization hit me like a punch in the face. My heart raced in my chest like crazy, as if it would be exploding soon. The pain of their betrayal echoed in my ribs sharply. I didn't know I was such a fool, a complete fool. I had completely placed myself into their hands, and let them used me like a pawn. A weary and bitter chuckle escaped my lips, as I found it harder to believe how well the two of them must had planned against me. But surprisingly, the pain wasn't as cruel as it had been before, maybe because I had known how venomous both of them were. “But I don't understand," Steven's voice cut through my thought, dragging me back to reality. “How long was your contract with the cooperation that they would Immediately hand over your shares to your sister." He questioned. “It's already been six years." I replied. “Six years?" He repeated, sounding surprised. “Yes, the construction should have been completed by now, but there w

Carly's POV The expression on the woman's face was beyond surprise. Her mouth agaped, but nothing came out. Her widened eyes glinted with surprise and astonishment. Confusion clouded my mind as I wondered what was unfolding before me. Was it a bad thing for someone to announce that they were getting married?“I'm the one getting married, or don't you think I deserve it?" He said, his joke lightening the tensed atmosphere.“What..." The woman voice broke as she started. She dabbed at her eyes, wiping off the tears there. “I can't believe this." She mumbled, sniffing.“Can you please stop this? You are starting to embarrass me," he whispered, leaning towards her, but I could hear him clearly.I scoffed. Did he really think I hadn’t caught that? “I'm sorry, I am just happy." Steven's Pov "What the fuck?" I sighed exhaustively, rewatching the video Mark had shown me. I couldn't believe something like this could happen, especially after I had just convinced Grandfather about my fake wedding to keep my position. Now, he would be suspicious. Then I suddenly remembered that I was supposed to meet Carly at the boutique. Since I had something urgent to deal with, I had no other choice but to text her to try on her bridal dress without me.After sending the message, I dropped the phone on the table and held my temples with my hands. A mixture of emotions filled me as I stared dazedly at the iPad screen on my table. It was as if my whole body was about to burst from the conflicting feelings battling inside meMy eyes reddened, and my hands curled into tight balls as I developed a genuine hatred for the person who had taken the video of me at the bar. Carly's POV I stared at my phone screen grudgingly, resentment flaring within me. Why did Steven think he could just call and order me around without even asking if I was available? His bossy attitude was infuriating. He called, but without giving me a chance to speak he hung up the phone.Who did he think he was?I gripped my phone tightly, my lips pressed together as I struggled to contain the raw anger growing in me. His demeanor was really getting on my nerves and I couldn't help but wonder why I had agreed to this deal with him without finding out who he was.I opened the message box and saw the address he had sent. The name of the place seemed to be a boutique, and I assumed it was related to the wedding. But I had plans of my own, and Steven's sudden demand was inconvenient. Apart from packing my precious belongings from my own house. I had also promised Ana that I would meet her later to explain everything, but now it seemed I would have to postpone our meeting. He seemed so tired and overwhelmed, like he was on the verge of collapse.“So, have you found the perfect place for wedding attire?" I asked, my eyes narrowing at him incredulously. Earlier, I had asked him to look for a perfect place where Carly and I could buy our wedding attires.“Yes sir," he replied, then leaning closer to me to show me the picture of the place on the tablet in his hands. “T

Steven's PovMy arms curled around her body in a careful and protective way, holding her close as I protected her from falling. I watched silently, intrigued, as she shut her eyes, as if she was expecting something. Anticipating something... The voice in my head that said that I should kiss her, I wouldn't be able to stop myself, and surely it could lead to something else. But I didn't want to ruin our deal. Carly's POV I watched as Steven moved to the driver's side, his silence deafening. He didn't even spare me a glance, and I could sense the gloomy atmosphere surrounding him. I didn't know why, but his silence was really killing me. I mean at least he supposed to say something, like sorry. He brought me here, only to make them insult me, and also he didn't give me chance to finish my meal before he told me we were leaving. So why was he acting sulky?“I don't know why you brought me here just to have me insulted." I said, my voice dripping with hurt and disappointment.I had thought it would be a normal dinner, but who knew that it would be wordy-bloody one. Steven's hand stopped on the car handle, and he turned to face me. Then leaving the other side of the car, he came to where I was standing, at the passenger side of the car. “It looks like you aren't the only one who was insulted." He pointed out, his eyes shimmering with anger from earlier that hadn't completely dissolved.

Carly's POV As soon as his grandfather left the dinning table, the atmosphere grew tensed. So tensed that I felt suffocating in their presence. I wondered if they were real family, their antagonistic attitude for one another was very palpable.“Wow, I'm impressed, Steven." The man who I assumed to be Steven's cousin's father said, because I could see the resemblance between two of them. "I didn't think you'd go such lengths to secure your position in the company."“Of course I need to protect what's mine. Why wouldn't I?" He retorted. “I worked so hard to get there, and I can't let my hard work go waste." Steven added, his voice steady, with no hint of fear.Wow, he had returned to the previous Steven, the one who was confident, arrogant and fearless. Unlike the one he had become In front of his grandfather.“So you are saying that you are hardworking?" Steven's Pov I couldn't just sit there and say nothing when my position was on the line. A flood of anxiety flowed through my veins as I thought about the consequences of being caught. What if she became scared of him and told him everything? How we met and what we had planned. I glanced at Carly, who was shaking slightly, and I knew that I did a great job at interrupting her.If my grandfather found out of our plan, that would be the end of everything, everything would ruin. I swallowed hard at my grandfather's threat, he was really a mean man. Trust me he wasn't a man who bluffed. If he got hands on what we planned, he would surely removed me from the family registry, but I was not ready to be removed. All my life I had dreamt of becoming the chairman of the knight enterprises, that's all I ever dreamt of, and that's all I ever lived for.I glanced around the table, meeting the suspicious gaze of my cousin, Peter. “But cousin, you don't really enjoy going to any reunion.
