Chapter: Chapter 12
AlvizeIt was nearly eight o'clock and Maria's excruciating presence wasn't filling up the kitchen yet. I shouldn't have, I normally would never but I chose to wait a full ten minutes past eight to see if she would show up. She didn't.Of course I was annoyed by this. My perfectly mapped out routine was ruined by the one woman who was set out to make my life a living hell. Unfortunately for her, my life was already it's own kind of hell.I didn't wait to learn what was wrong with her. If she had a problem, courtesy demanded she tell me. I picked up my briefcase and walked to my car, ready to leave for the safe confines of my office but not before placing a call to the overbearing Liliana. I wasn't a complete monster. She answered on the first ring.“Why hello cousin.” The woman sounded way too cheerful for my annoyed mood.“I haven't forgotten last night.”She makes a dramatic sigh. “ Meanwhile here I was thinking I had escaped your wrath. Curse your good memory.”I ignored her. “I n

Chapter: Chapter 11
Maria A chill ran down my spine and I swallowed instinctively. Even my body could detect the precarious situation I had placed myself in. “And I see you've been making quite some interesting friends since you fled.” He stated, his mouth still dangerously close to my ear. There was an edge to his voice that I didn't want to dwell on Then just like that he straightened but without taking his hand off me. Luckily for me though his attention was fully on Nathan, who also had a steely look in his eyes that could rival my husband's. I was the poor woman unfortunately caught between this open show of male dominance. I swallowed for the gazillionth time. “Giovanni.” Nathan said in that tone men used when talking to other men they saw as rivals. He knew my husband then, yay I guess. “Sinclair.” And because Alvize used that same voice too, I had to take a wild guess that it was his surname. Sadly for me, I couldn't mask the shock that took over my face because it was one thing for

Chapter: Chapter 10
MariaI wasn't always this rebellious. I had always craved thrill and excitement however, and right now, nothing felt more right than this moment. I blamed my newly discovered thirst for rebellion on the insufferable man I found myself married to.I was dressed in a very short, off-white dress with spaghetti sleeves and a sweetheart neckline paired with brown, leather, thigh high boots which I found in my newly stocked closet. God bless Liliana and her critical thinking. Earlier on, I called her and told her about how I planned on going to a club so I could have my first ever club experience. She gleefully agreed to help me out and we concocted a plan. Apparently, my routine obsessed husband always had a bath by 9.00 before he continued with his deadly work habits. That was my chance to conveniently sneak out of the house. She promised to deal with security. That explained why I ran out of the house like my pants were on fire, making sure to escape before Alvize got back to his offic

Chapter: Chapter 9
MariaI had come to the conclusion that my husband was not just lethal and dangerous but boring as well. Ever since Antonio's last visit two days ago on which we bonded over popcorn and award winning Telenovelas, he hadn't stepped foot in the house again. Liliana hadn’t either and because I didn't have her phone number, I couldn't call her to beg for her company. Yes, I wasn't above begging because I may have loved my Telenovelas but I wasn't above human company either. My days with Alvize went like this: Breakfast together in the kitchen because I loved his cooking and I wasn't ashamed to admit it but not to him though because I was afraid that if I did he'd stop making enough food for the both of us just to spite me. Immediately after breakfast he leaves for work and he comes back just in time for dinner where he never spares me a glance or so much as breathes in my direction. After dinner he goes up to his office and I don't see him again till the next morning where our entire cy

Chapter: Chapter 8
AlvizeWhy did people fail to apprehend the concept of personal space? I despised when people blatantly refused to value my silence and felt the need to cram it up with unnecessary banter. All my life, I tolerated such nuisance from my cousins as I barely had any choice, seeing they were family. All my life I had tolerated it from Antonio and Liliana because whether I wanted to accept it or not, they were family. So why on earth did I tie myself to a talkative like Maria who wouldn't know the meaning of personal space even if it hit her with a ten foot pole? I should've done more of a background check. It was my mistake.“So, how does it feel to be a married man?” Antonio asked as we walked up into my house.“Why don't you get married and find out?”“Nah man. This single air feels much more refreshing.” He said, tapping my shoulder in solidarity. Any other man would have been nursing a broken wrist after that move. Antonio should be grateful I respect his mother.Speaking of Maria h

MariaI tried to shut the door in his face but he had always been stronger than me and his hand was able to stop it.“Can we talk?” He asked me. I avoided his pretty blue eyes because they had always been a form of weakness for me.“I have nothing to say to you.” I told him, turning away from him and abandoning the door.“But I do. Please.” I turned around when I felt his presence in the room with me. “Leave the door open. I'm married now, remember?”His eyes flashed down to the hand bearing my rings and I pretended not to notice his clenched jaw.“You didn't have to get married to him just to get back at me.” He said.I chuckled. “It's really cute how you imagine that every decision I make revolves around you.”“It used to be like that.”“And look how that turned out.” I said with a smile that didn't reach my eyes. He stepped closer. The part of me that had been madly in love with him for years wanted to step closer as well, then I remembered him in bed with my sister and bile rose
