Stealing The Dragon's Heart
For years, no one had been able to activate the last dragon's heart. No one except a poor young thief.
___
She only had one job–stealing a precious stone. Yet it landed her with an overbearing dragon.
___
Locked and chained, Scar suddenly awakened when his heart palpitated for the first time in decades, coming face to face with a young girl cradling his heart. In his vengeful attempt to get it back, they activate the spell binding him to her. Now not only was his heart stolen, but he was also enslaved.
Scar vowed to kill the girl once the bond was broken. The only problem is no one had ever successfully broken a dragon bond, nor would it allow him to harm its new master.
___
"Oh... um ... sorry. I didn't mean to…um.. pry. I'm... gonna go now." I stuttered, inching backward from his penetrating gaze, glancing around for a way out.
"I don't know who you're, but I do know you're not here willingly. Seeing as you're chained and all."
Silence.
"How about I set you free, and in return, you get us out of here?"
Silence.
Maybe he couldn't talk, so I did the only thing I could. Grabbing the keys, I fumbled with the heavy chains of his cage. His gaze finally shifted to the wooden box I dropped on the floor.
"Fancy, isn't it?" I said.
"I've never seen anything like it before. But then again, I'm not familiar with expensive stuff."
A deep rumble rattled from his throat, freezing me in place.
I glanced up at him wearily.
"Run."
And then he was charging towards me.

Chapter: Chapter 128: EpilogueI woke slowly, languidly, enveloped in warmth. Soft lips pressed against mine even as fingers trailed down my body, igniting smoldering embers inside me. I yielded to the kiss, the caress, feeling wanted, desired.Until an angry snarl shattered the moment. The lips disappeared and a solid weight pinned me down. My eyes flew open to see Hunter sprawled on the floor, Scar looming over him, fists clenched."Scar!" I exclaimed. "What the hell?" His magenta eyes blazed as they fixed on me. "What the hell? You're seriously asking me that?" He stabbed an accusing finger at Hunter. "I can feel everything you feel, remember? So imagine getting woken up by you getting all hot and bothered over some bastard pawing at you.""Hey!" Hunter launched himself at Scar, both crashing to the floor in a tangle of limbs. I scrambled back as they rolled, grappling furiously. "Enough!" I shouted, but they ignored me. With a cry of frustration, I flung myself between them, shoving them apart with all my str

Chapter: Chapter 127: End Of An EraLena The dull roar of the crowd gathered outside the hall was audible even from within my dressing room. I stared at my reflection as Sage zipped up the back of my knee-length black dress, her skilled hands working quickly. "There," she said. "You look beautiful, Lena."I sighed, brushing a strand of hair from my eyes. "I don't feel beautiful. I feel like I'm being served up for auction."Sage squeezed my shoulder, meeting my eyes in the mirror. "Today marks the beginning of real change. No more hiding, no more fear. You're bringing peace, Lena."Footsteps at the door made us both turn. Scar loomed in the doorway, striking in his black suit, silver hair glinting. Hermes hovered behind him, looking slick in navy blue. "It's time," Scar rumbled. I lifted my chin, striding forward. Hermes offered his arm and I took it, letting him guide me down the plushly carpeted hall. The clamor outside crescendoed as we approached the doors to the hall itself, camera flashes visible even from her

Chapter: Chapter 126: Homecoming
A feeling of bittersweet joy hung in the air as our ragtag group celebrated my unexpected reunion with my son. Jackson gazed at me with such awe and longing, as though unable to believe I was real. I found myself overwhelmed trying to reconcile Jackson to his grandson. In the midst of the emotional upheaval, I noticed Hunter slip quietly from the room, a shadow dimming his usual vibrancy. My joy dimmed, realizing how difficult this reunion must be for him. With care not to jostle the sleeping babe in my arms, I slipped out to follow Hunter's brooding silhouette."You deserve time to process all this change," I offered gently once we were alone outside the battered walls.Hunter exhaled harshly, avoiding my searching look. "I just need...space, to adjust to everything." He attempted a strained half-smile. "Don't mind my sulking."My heart clenched hearing the hurt poorly masked beneath his gravel tones. Impulsively I laid one hand on his slumped shoulder. "I haven't decided anything ye

Chapter: Chapter 125: Rebirth
I drifted gradually up through velvety shadows toward waking, feeling almost reborn. Every muscle ached fiercely, but my spirit felt cleansed by recent trials. We had walked through fire and fury both literal and figurative, somehow emerging intact on redemption's far shore. With effort I pushed upright, taking in familiar features gathered anxiously around the modest pallet where I had slept. Concern furrowed Sage's brow until she noted my returning gaze. "Lena! Thank the ancestors." She gripped both my hands urgently. "We feared you might never rouse after expending so much strength against the darkness."I managed a wan smile, ribs protesting even that small motion. "I yet breathe thanks to your steady watchcare, my friend." My searching look found May and Freya curled together nearby, worry softening into relief. But foreboding still weighted the strained atmosphere. I hesitated before voicing the question that haunted me most. "And Scar? Has there been any change while I drifted

Chapter: Chapter 124: AwakeningLenaScar's smoldering draconic shape halted its ruthless assault mid-dive, wheeling with fury towards my brazen challenge. Behind my defiant stance, Hermes and Sage stood with weapons drawn, prepared to defend unto death. Their unwavering courage fortified my quailing spirit. If these were destined as my final moments, I would face fate proudly surrounded by such selfless love. The dusk sky tore violently as the dragon folded its terrible wings, plummeting straight for me with jaws gaping hungrily. I glimpsed no flicker of familiar azure gaze nor glimmer of recognition, only endless ravenous void racing to consume me. Despair's chill fingers scraped my fragile hope. Had scintilla of Scar's psyche already been devoured beyond all reclaiming?Mere body lengths from certain obliteration, a piercing mental lance speared my psyche. I gasped, driving to one knee beneath the assault. Then chaotic fractured awareness crashed over me. Insanity! The maelstrom threatened to drown rational mind

Chapter: Chapter 123: ConfrontationLena "You need rest." Hermes' firm tone brooked no argument as he helped me climb into the van's rear seat. I scowled, but couldn't deny sheer exhaustion once adrenaline drained away. "The Fortress lies over a day's journey north," Hunter remarked, sliding behind the wheel beside Hermes. "Best try recovering strength before we arrive."I nodded reluctantly, too spent to argue logistics. Food and sleep called seductively. Sage draped a scratchy blanket over me before everything faded into dreamless void.I came to as the van jostled over rough terrain, weak sun glinting through cracked windows. Groaning, I shifted gingerly upright. Every bone and muscle throbbed fiery complaint, but my mind felt oddly clear for once.Hermes twisted around with a grin. "About time. We're less than an hour out." His expression sobered. "Scar's still assaulting the fortress walls relentlessly."Memory crashed back. The bond! I frantically grasped for our mating link, nearly sagging relief finding that e

Chapter: 59. Kat grinned as she looked over her shoulder at the line of omegas trailing behind her, their heads lowered submissively. Ten omegas to bring back to the pack, more than she had hoped for. She would have more than enough to pay Maddox and even request more drugs if the need arises. The forest was quiet as they made their way through the dense trees, the only sounds being the crunch of leaves under their feet and the occasional bird call overhead. Kat's ears swiveled, alert for any signs of danger, but all seemed peaceful.Too peaceful, she realized with a start. The woods were never this quiet unless..."Ambush!" Kat yelled, whirling around, but it was too late. The enemy warriors dropped down from the trees, landing lightly on their feet to surround Kat's small group. She counted at least twelve of them, all heavily armed and staring at her with hatred in their eyes."Well, well," one of them drawled, flipping a knife casually in his hand. "Look what we have here. Poaching our omegas

Chapter: 58.Vitale crept through the dense forest, ears pricked and senses on high alert. He did not know if this mysterious lead would yield answers or simply danger, but he was prepared either way.Behind him, his four most trusted guards kept pace, watchful for any signs of deception. But the path ahead remained undisturbed. Perhaps this would be nothing but a fruitless detour. Yet something deep within compelled Vitale onward. He had to know if truth awaited at the end of this trail. As the trees thinned ahead, the brush giving way to a rocky clearing, Vitale felt the fine hairs on his neck stand on end. He slowed, holding up a hand to halt his guards. The space appeared empty, but his instincts screamed that eyes were watching them even now. It was an ideal spot for an ambush.Vitale turned sharply to retreat back under the trees' protective cover. But too late. The faint hiss reached his ears seconds before the canisters hit the ground around them, spewing forth cloying white smoke. Vitale

Chapter: 57.Leo strode purposefully through the dense forest outside the Sanguinari wolf pack's borders, Vincent trailing at his back. The flickering leaves and branches prevent the rays from reaching the forest grounds . But Leo did not slow. He had tread this path enough times lately to know its twists and turns by heart. At the final iron-barred door, Leo cleared his throat. "Remind me again why we waste our time down here with this mad doctor and his monsters?"Vincent glanced back, lips quirking wryly. "Come now, Alpha. Where's your curiosity? Maddox is clearly on the brink of a breakthrough with his experiments on the wolves. One that could aid our pack greatly.""Or doom us all," Leo muttered under his breath. But he stood guard obediently as Vincent unlocked the door and entered the sprawling laboratory beyond. As always, the cavernous room unsettled Vincent on some primal level. Cages and glass cells lined the walls, housing Maddox's less than willing test subjects in various states of

Chapter: 56.Vitale paced restlessly around the makeshift camp, his mind churning with questions. It had been two days since discovering the ominous clues at the abandoned office site, but they were no closer to uncovering the truth. Marco had extracted some data from the cryptic flashdrive, but it was all heavily encrypted. He was still working to break through the protections and access the files. In the meantime, Vitale had dispatched trusted allies to dig deeper into the shadowy rental company's records and affiliations. But so far, they had turned up nothing useful.Whoever was behind this had covered their tracks exceptionally well. But Vitale knew there had to be some thread they could follow, some mistake the culprits had made. And he had no intention of leaving until he found it. For now, the team remained camped a cautious distance from the derelict office park, maintaining a discreet watch over the site. The shred of clothing with Natalia's scent tied her to this place somehow, Vitale

Chapter: 55.Pale dawn light filtered weakly through the dense forest surrounding the sprawling Krovavyy Krest pack grounds. Nestled deep within the remote Siberian wilderness, it was the largest and most formidable werewolf clan in Russia. In the training grounds, Alessio crouched across from Vincent, eyes narrowed in concentration. His muscles coiled tightly as he watched his mentor circle slowly. Vincent's scarred face gave nothing away, completely unreadable. They had been sparring since dawn, neither gaining advantage over the other for more than a moment. But Alessio could feel his strength starting to flag. The grueling daily training here at the Krovavyy Krest pack sanctuary was taking its toll.Vincent lunged without warning, aiming a vicious kick at Alessio's midsection. With reflexes honed over weeks of practice, Alessio spun away, using his opponent's momentum against him to flip Vincent over onto his back. Before he could press his counterattack, Vincent had rolled swiftly back to hi

Chapter: 54.Dawn's first light filtered weakly through the dense forest canopy as Natalia and Olga set out on patrol together. Since extending her offer of friendship, Olga had made a point of volunteering for duties alongside Natalia as often as possible. To Natalia, the she-wolf's presence now felt less like camaraderie and more like the smothering watch of a prison guard. "What a lovely morning!" Olga exclaimed, breaking the tense silence between them. "Don't you just adore the springtime, Natalia? Everything feels so alive and renewed.""I suppose so," Natalia replied halfheartedly, scanning their surroundings. She was anxious to finish this patrol and pursue a new anonymous tip regarding the omegas' whereabouts. The scrap of paper had contained only an address and dire warning - "Cabin east of canyon, leave now. Evidence inside."Natalia wasn't foolish enough to fully trust such a conveniently timed message. More likely it was a trap set by the kidnappers to lure her out alone where she wou

Chapter: Chapter 3. Night Of Terror "Mother!'" I exclaimed, bolting into the courtyard, completely disregarding the lingering presence of whatever had caused this havoc."Be courageous, Lara. It's likely just a stray," I reassured myself, unable to fathom the possibility of anything dreadful happening to them."That could be it," I murmured, examining my stained fingers, my trembling arms propelling me forward into the eerily quiet compound. The compound's silence was so profound that even the gusts of wind seemed deafening. The expansive compound served as the sisters' sanctuary, generously bestowed upon us by the government. It sprawled across vast land, featuring a garden, a waterfall, a library, and a grand hall where sisters from all over the state gathered for our annual meetings."Christ!" I cried out as fear gripped me, my eyes locked onto a sudden movement to my left—a dark shadow with glowing eyes. "That must have belonged to the injured stray," I whispered, trying to rationalize the unnerving sight."I must b

Chapter: Chapter 2. HuntedA huge black wolf with white stripes balanced atop a tree in the dense vegetation of the Edinburgh woods, silently observing the movement on the other side of the stream—a mere separation from the humans.Slav patiently awaited the setting sun. To enter the human town, he needed the cover of night. He could have done it during the day, but that would require him to roam around naked until he found clothes to conceal his nudity. Not that he would mind, but the same couldn't be said for the humans.Slav's mind recalled his conversation with his younger brother and beta, Zar, ten nights ago before his departure."Surely there has to be another solution, right?" Zar reasoned, their sparring motions mirroring their debate. "You do realize how risky this is, don't you?" The trusted advisor attempted to dissuade Slav from embarking on the perilous journey.Slav deftly evaded a strike, acknowledging Zar's concerns. "I understand your apprehension," he replied with a sidestep. "But trust me, I

Chapter: Chapter 1. The Hour"With each skirmish, the hunters would triumph victoriously, relentless in their pursuit, conquering all opposition. Their path of dominance would continue unyielding until there remained no place left for them to conquer. But beware, for the tides shall turn, and the script of fate shall be rewritten. A different melody shall echo through the air, and our voices shall tremble with a newfound tune. When that fateful hour arrives, we shall bear witness to the reversal of fortunes, and the hunters shall become the hunted." Mother Terra had prophecied. In the darkness of the night, with honking cars and terrified shrieks filling the air, I quickened my pace, summoning every ounce of strength as I made my way back to the convent."Move it, damn it!" A car swerved, speeding recklessly as the driver attempted to escape the streets and find refuge within the safety of their home, nearly knocking me over in the process.Since the curfew declaration, the city had been thrown into chaos as c
