Chapter: CH 42Mr France returned to work the following day looking like he had just walked off a runway. Not only his presence surprised me but his clothes as well. It wasn't his usual dark blue suit but a flower-patterned shirt and tight jeans that showed his well-defined thighs. I had made it to the elevator when he entered the building, a pair of shades hiding his eyes which would still be puffy from all the crying he did yesterday. I entered the elevator with me and I had expected a 'good morning' thinking we'd gotten a little bit closer because of the events that happened the day before but none came my way. I cursed myself internally for thinking he would do such a thing. Even though he had been weak yesterday, he was still the self-centred and arrogant Mr France. I pressed the button to the last floor and anxiously waited for it to open because of the awkward atmosphere in the small space. Fortunately, a few seconds later I heard a 'ding' sound as the doors opened and I quickly rushed out.

Chapter: CH 41Life was a rollercoaster. Most often the unpredictable happens in our lives and we find ourselves thrown into a series of events that manifest significantly in our lives. An example of such an unpredictable event is the sight of Mr France sitting on my couch, watching television. I'd expected him to run out of my house the moment his eyes opened but not only did he eat the food I had prepared but he'd thanked me for it. Something I thought I would never hear him say. Maybe his father's death and his unstable emotions were bringing a side of him that no one knew or that he hid away.He hadn't cried since he woke up but looked sad, which was expected considering the present situation. He laughed at something funny on the screen. I turned to look at him, his face calm and relaxed but his teary eyes betrayed him. He wasn't okay but was trying desperately to keep it in, which worried me. He had to let it out!"Errr, are you okay?", shit, I shouldn't have phrased it like that. I mentally f

Chapter: CH 40We went through a great deal of trouble before we were finally able to carry the sleeping man into my apartment. The most painful part had been holding him up the stairs. We dropped him on the bed, not caring if he’d landed on it. My mind couldn’t process that because of how sore my ankles and arms were. “I have to go back to work. I have an article to finish. Do you have things to print, if so I could give an excuse for your disappearance.”, Justin said I remembered I hadn’t told him of what had happened on Friday. Clearing my throat, I uttered, “You don’t have to do that. I don’t work there any more” “Really? Did you move back to the workstation, or did you get fired?” “Don’t be dumb. Do you think I would be in that building if I had been fired.?” “Okay, so you’re moving back to the workstation?”, I rubbed my temple, “No, I’m not…” “Then where are you now?”, he interrupted me by asking. I glared at him and spat, “How can I tell you when you won’t let me finish speaking?” He r

Chapter: CH 39Mournful, was the atmosphere that greeted me when I entered the building. People weren't gossiping about what they'd done on the weekend, everyone looked sad and downcast, including Rosa, who seemed to have been zoned out because she didn't notice me. It surprised me how personal everyone had taken Mr Nathaniel France's death. It could be because he'd been so kind to his workers, or that he'd founded the company that had put money into their pockets. My heels clicked loudly on the floor as I exited the elevator and made my way to my new office. It had been cleaned, and new furniture had been added to it. I didn't dwell on it for too long because my mind was occupied with thoughts about Mr France. Was he alright? It had come out on the news that no one had heard of him since his father's passing on Saturday, and now it was Monday. I left my office and stood in front of his door. I wasn’t sure he was in there, but I had to check. I knocked it twice but received no response. After two m

Chapter: CH 38I rushed to him and cried out for help. Mr. France and Garry, who had been in the hallway also rushed to the room. Mr. France carried him from the floor and placed him in the couch while Garry called the ambulance. I let out a silent gasp when I saw the amount of blood coming out from his nose. Was he going to be alright? He had to be. Worried about his condition, I offered a silent prayer for him.A moment later, we heard a siren blurring in the distance. Paramedics checked his pulse and blood pressure, placed him in a stroller and carried him into the ambulance. Garry wanted to go with them, but Mr. France told him not to, so he didn't. Mr. France sat in his car and briefly looked at me, his eyes asking if I would be able to go alone. There was undeniable fear in his eyes, and he didn't try to conceal it. I nodded at him, assuring him that I had money on me, and he drove off, following the ambulance. I never knew I could communicate with someone without words until that moment when

Chapter: CH 37The old Mr. France was sitting in the couch wearing a bathroom rope, with an edition of The Insider in his hands as I entered the room. I looked at him, amazed by his presence. I'd always looked up to him when I was growing up, so it felt good to see him in person. He'd come from a poor home but managed to fulfil his dreams and make a life for himself despite the hate and discouragement, he received from his parents. Because he did not choose to become a doctor like they wanted him to. Now he looked very old and frail, a deep contrast to the devilishly handsome man I'd made my role model. Mr France sat on one of the chairs in the room. I did so too, but not before greeting the older man. He brought the magazine down, smiled and nodded at me. I squealed internally and smiled back at him. His smile dropped from his face when his eyes landed on his son, who looked at him with a frown. I got the chance to carefully looked at the older man and realized. “You're late.”, he simply stated, a

Alpha Reika
#Book One in the Forbidden Love Series
His hands made their way to the back of her head, and she felt a shiver run through her body.
He pulled her in, and his breath fell on her lips. This wasn't right, she told herself, but she had one very stubborn heart. She had to discourage and resist him, but she was doing the exact opposite.
“Tell me to stop, Reika. Tell me you don't want this as much as I do.” He whispered into her ear while leaving soft kisses there. All she wanted was to have his tongue in her mouth, doing devilish things to her, so she pulled him to her and smashed her lips on his.
He's surprised by her confidence, but then pushes his tongue into her mouth to deepen the kiss. Their tongues intertwine with each other as they moan in delight.
She'd never known kissing someone could make her all giddy inside. She'd never imagined herself falling for him, his smile and his laugh. If someone had told her three full moons ago that she would be kissing someone forbidden to her, then she would have laughed her heart out.
“I know I can't have you Reika, shouldn't have you, but that makes me want you the more.”
~Reika, daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent stone pack, is arranged to marry Lowell, brother to the Alpha of the Moon pack. Chapter: Fighting back[3]~ReikaI was leaning against a wall, my eyes slowing closing, heading to a much-needed sleep when the sound of a distant growl reached my ears. My heart skipped a beat and I rose to my feet in fear. I looked at Arya, who had frozen in place, her eyes wide with concern. How had they found us so quickly?“Have they found us?”, I asked, my voice trembling, even though I didn’t want it to. I had to be strong!“It’s a warning,” Arya said quietly. “ It means they’re still looking for us. They’re probably close by. As long as we don’t make any noise, we’ll be okay. We need to be vigilant”“What about our scent? I hadn’t thought of it earlier but won’t they be able to trace it here.”Arya gave me a faint smile, “I’ve taken care of that. I concealed our scent with a magic potion, Eragon and I had gotten a while back.”The small sack she’d been holding!“Oh. Smart move.” I mentally smacked myself. Why hadn’t I thought of that? I was so useless. The Moon pack is still out there, searching for us

Chapter: Fighting back[2]~ReikaI hesitated, my heart hurting with the knowledge that I was leaving everyone fighting those monsters behind. I had to trust that they'd be okay. With one final look, I turned and entered the passage. As Arya led everyone into the depths of the passage, the sounds of the battle fading, I made a vow to myself, that I would find a way to end this war, no matter what it took. But now the women and children were of top priority. The darkness of the passage pressed in on me, as we followed closely behind Arya, through the winding tunnels. There was no light, just plain darkness, making it impossible to see anything. The only sense of direction we had was the formation of a straight line, where everyone held onto each other with Arya leading. As we reached the hidden exit in the forest, I paused and listened intently. The sounds of battle were distant now, but I could hear the occasional distant growls. I only hoped Vlad and Eragon were holding their own.Arya ushered everyone out int

Chapter: Fighting back[1]~ReikaAs I lay there, the warmth of Vlad’s body pressed against mine, a sense of unease gnawed at the back of my mind. The world outside the tent seemed distant, almost unreal, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.Suddenly, the flap of the tent was thrown open, and Arya burst in, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear. “Reika, we need to leave. Now!”I sat up quickly, pulling away from Vlad. “What’s happening?”“They found us,” Arya gasped, struggling to catch her breath. “The Moon pack… they’ve found us and we’re outnumbered. They’re vicious, Reika!”Vlad was on his feet in an instant, his expression darkening. “The Moon pack?” His voice was a low growl, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife. My heart sank. I had hoped for more time to prepare myself for this, but it seemed fate had other plans. “They want me. But I didn’t think they’d find us and this quickly too,” I whispered, my mind racing. “We have to get out of here before they….”A

Chapter: She's Alive[2]A few days later, I made it to Boulderstall and was shocked by what I witnessed. The town was in ruins and men who I recognized as warriors of the moon pack guided the place. I knew this because there were many faces I’d encountered during my visits to their territory. I could capture things easily. Staying out of focus, I monitored everything that took place in front of the great gate that opened to the town. Carriages entered carrying boxes probably filled with food supplies. I still couldn’t fathom the fact that the moon pack had attacked the crescent stone back. Alpha Conri and Alpha Bodolf had been allies way before I had even been born. Surely, their friendship wouldn’t have been strong enough if a simple cancelled marriage had led to this. There was a ninety per cent chance that Reika was already in Boulderstall and had been captured. Though the chances were high, my gut told me she wasn’t. That I should look somewhere else. But where?Crouching down I tried to smell for any cl

Chapter: She's Alive[1]~VLAD~I could hear concerned voices surrounding me as I was carried from the ground and placed on what felt like a mat. Their voices were muffled in my ears so I couldn’t pick up what they were talking about. I was semi-unconscious, that I could tell since I could not open my damn eyes. I tried to recognize each of them which, was useless considering my current state. The pain was still there but, I could no longer feel the dagger that had been accidentally stabbed into my chest by the woman I’d come to care about—that too against my wishes. She was the only one I could think of at that moment. Was she okay? Had she already reached Boulderstall? And most importantly, would I get to see her again? I felt a deep ache in my chest just from thinking of that. A wet substance was suddenly applied to my wound before all hearing seized and, I blacked out again.I woke up to the sound of men talking and the clattering of plates. My stomach grumbled and, my mouth watered as my nose picked up t

Chapter: He's Alive~ReikaI made my way through the crowd until I stood in front of what had caught their attention. My body became tense, my hands slightly shaking by my sides as I stared at the person before me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing."V-Vlad?" my voice came out hoarse, my throat suddenly parched. He wasn’t dead! I couldn't explain the emotion that washed over me. Relief, sadness, I couldn’t tell but I was glad to see him. He looked well. No one would believe I’d stabbed him with a silver dagger some weeks ago. He stared back at me, his gaze piercing my soul as he came towards me. There was something in his gaze, a fondness that hadn’t been there before. It confused me. Everyone moved back, clearing the way for him as he reached me. I stood frozen before him, too shocked that words refused to tumble out of my mouth. He stood close now, so close that I could see a fading scar that cut across the left side of his face. It hadn’t been there before but it reminded me of the stranger behind
