Chapter: CH 42Mr France returned to work the following day looking like he had just walked off a runway. Not only his presence surprised me but his clothes as well. It wasn't his usual dark blue suit but a flower-patterned shirt and tight jeans that showed his well-defined thighs. I had made it to the elevator when he entered the building, a pair of shades hiding his eyes which would still be puffy from all the crying he did yesterday. I entered the elevator with me and I had expected a 'good morning' thinking we'd gotten a little bit closer because of the events that happened the day before but none came my way. I cursed myself internally for thinking he would do such a thing. Even though he had been weak yesterday, he was still the self-centred and arrogant Mr France. I pressed the button to the last floor and anxiously waited for it to open because of the awkward atmosphere in the small space. Fortunately, a few seconds later I heard a 'ding' sound as the doors opened and I quickly rushed out.

Chapter: CH 41Life was a rollercoaster. Most often the unpredictable happens in our lives and we find ourselves thrown into a series of events that manifest significantly in our lives. An example of such an unpredictable event is the sight of Mr France sitting on my couch, watching television. I'd expected him to run out of my house the moment his eyes opened but not only did he eat the food I had prepared but he'd thanked me for it. Something I thought I would never hear him say. Maybe his father's death and his unstable emotions were bringing a side of him that no one knew or that he hid away.He hadn't cried since he woke up but looked sad, which was expected considering the present situation. He laughed at something funny on the screen. I turned to look at him, his face calm and relaxed but his teary eyes betrayed him. He wasn't okay but was trying desperately to keep it in, which worried me. He had to let it out!"Errr, are you okay?", shit, I shouldn't have phrased it like that. I mentally f

Chapter: CH 40We went through a great deal of trouble before we were finally able to carry the sleeping man into my apartment. The most painful part had been holding him up the stairs. We dropped him on the bed, not caring if he’d landed on it. My mind couldn’t process that because of how sore my ankles and arms were. “I have to go back to work. I have an article to finish. Do you have things to print, if so I could give an excuse for your disappearance.”, Justin said I remembered I hadn’t told him of what had happened on Friday. Clearing my throat, I uttered, “You don’t have to do that. I don’t work there any more” “Really? Did you move back to the workstation, or did you get fired?” “Don’t be dumb. Do you think I would be in that building if I had been fired.?” “Okay, so you’re moving back to the workstation?”, I rubbed my temple, “No, I’m not…” “Then where are you now?”, he interrupted me by asking. I glared at him and spat, “How can I tell you when you won’t let me finish speaking?” He r

Chapter: CH 39Mournful, was the atmosphere that greeted me when I entered the building. People weren't gossiping about what they'd done on the weekend, everyone looked sad and downcast, including Rosa, who seemed to have been zoned out because she didn't notice me. It surprised me how personal everyone had taken Mr Nathaniel France's death. It could be because he'd been so kind to his workers, or that he'd founded the company that had put money into their pockets. My heels clicked loudly on the floor as I exited the elevator and made my way to my new office. It had been cleaned, and new furniture had been added to it. I didn't dwell on it for too long because my mind was occupied with thoughts about Mr France. Was he alright? It had come out on the news that no one had heard of him since his father's passing on Saturday, and now it was Monday. I left my office and stood in front of his door. I wasn’t sure he was in there, but I had to check. I knocked it twice but received no response. After two m

Chapter: CH 38I rushed to him and cried out for help. Mr. France and Garry, who had been in the hallway also rushed to the room. Mr. France carried him from the floor and placed him in the couch while Garry called the ambulance. I let out a silent gasp when I saw the amount of blood coming out from his nose. Was he going to be alright? He had to be. Worried about his condition, I offered a silent prayer for him.A moment later, we heard a siren blurring in the distance. Paramedics checked his pulse and blood pressure, placed him in a stroller and carried him into the ambulance. Garry wanted to go with them, but Mr. France told him not to, so he didn't. Mr. France sat in his car and briefly looked at me, his eyes asking if I would be able to go alone. There was undeniable fear in his eyes, and he didn't try to conceal it. I nodded at him, assuring him that I had money on me, and he drove off, following the ambulance. I never knew I could communicate with someone without words until that moment when

Chapter: CH 37The old Mr. France was sitting in the couch wearing a bathroom rope, with an edition of The Insider in his hands as I entered the room. I looked at him, amazed by his presence. I'd always looked up to him when I was growing up, so it felt good to see him in person. He'd come from a poor home but managed to fulfil his dreams and make a life for himself despite the hate and discouragement, he received from his parents. Because he did not choose to become a doctor like they wanted him to. Now he looked very old and frail, a deep contrast to the devilishly handsome man I'd made my role model. Mr France sat on one of the chairs in the room. I did so too, but not before greeting the older man. He brought the magazine down, smiled and nodded at me. I squealed internally and smiled back at him. His smile dropped from his face when his eyes landed on his son, who looked at him with a frown. I got the chance to carefully looked at the older man and realized. “You're late.”, he simply stated, a

Alpha Reika
#Book One in the Forbidden Love Series
His hands made their way to the back of her head, and she felt a shiver run through her body.
He pulled her in, and his breath fell on her lips. This wasn't right, she told herself, but she had one very stubborn heart. She had to discourage and resist him, but she was doing the exact opposite.
“Tell me to stop, Reika. Tell me you don't want this as much as I do.” He whispered into her ear while leaving soft kisses there. All she wanted was to have his tongue in her mouth, doing devilish things to her, so she pulled him to her and smashed her lips on his.
He's surprised by her confidence, but then pushes his tongue into her mouth to deepen the kiss. Their tongues intertwine with each other as they moan in delight.
She'd never known kissing someone could make her all giddy inside. She'd never imagined herself falling for him, his smile and his laugh. If someone had told her three full moons ago that she would be kissing someone forbidden to her, then she would have laughed her heart out.
“I know I can't have you Reika, shouldn't have you, but that makes me want you the more.”

Chapter: The downfall of the Crescent Stone Pack[3]"Reika"He looked confused, "What?""My name is Reika, not Paige. I lied."Eragon's eyes widened. Arya and Marcie gasped from where they stood."Wait!", Marcie's terrifying gaze pierced into mine, "Are you Reika, daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent Stone pack?""Y-yes, I am", I let out a breath i didn't know i'd been holding, relieved that I'd finally been able to let out the truth."But how's that possible? You...you were kidnapped by the shadow pack!"Marcie yelled. She looked troubled, so much that she could hardly meet my gaze. What was wrong with her?"I was. I escaped and don't ask me how. I have to look for my family."Eragon and Arya had not spoken a word during our exchange.I looked at Eragon, his face was expressionless, " I have to go in there. Thanks for everything you've done for me. And I'm sorry for lying to you but I've learnt not to trust anyone."I turned to leave but then a hand grabbed my arm, stopping me again."What is it...""I'll go with you!," Eragon said,

Chapter: The downfall of the Crescent Stone Pack[2]“Something isn't right,” Eragon voiced, his words loud enough to sink into my panicked mind.“I'll go ahead and check”, Arya suggested but Eragon raised his hand, signalling her not to. He descended and helped me down before climbing back on. He led us to a grove on the left side of the road, and tied the horses to the stem of a tree. He said to me, “Reika, stay here with Arya and Marcie. I'll go ahead and check what's going on.” and whispered into Arya’s ears before leaving. My chest felt tight and I could hardly breathe as Arya, Marcie and I hid behind a large tree. My hands were sweaty and slightly shook as nerves overcame my calm state. I had a bad feeling about what was going on and I felt a sense of loss that I could not explain. It reminded me of the feeling I had when my eyes lay on Vlad's lifeless body. Shaking the memories away I turned to look at the other two people with me. My eyes widened as I found Arya staring intently at me."Are you okay?" She asked, shocking me to t

Chapter: The downfall of the Crescent Stone Pack[1]~Reika~Eragon was my saviour. I liked the way he carried himself and how he was the true image of confidence. He'd been so kind to me that I couldn't help but seek his presence all the time. I enjoyed the stories of his journeys that he told me and found myself agreeing to whatever he said even if it didn't make sense. He was so wise and intelligent and the way he spoke volumes of that. He loved to read books, something I deeply admired about him, and had the weird habit of running his hands through his long hair every minute. He has been nothing but polite and gentle with me which made me sometimes wonder if he was truly a rogue. The thought never came to me at first but after spending more than ten days with them, I began to ask myself, 'why did the others seem to fear him?'I'd been told numerous times not to trust rogues and of how cruel they were, my first encounter with them had been proof enough. They had been ugly vicious beasts with blood lust eyes and sharp teeth that could

Chapter: Revealations[2]~ERAGON~I'd been searching for something all my life, something that would make my heart beat, something that would make me want to wake up every morning, something that would put a smile on my face, take all my loneliness away and make me feel good about myself for once. And maybe that something that had been so desperately yearning for my whole life, didn't necessarily have to be a mate but could be a person who made my heart beat as it had never before.I saw her from afar, strands of her hair all over her face and just as my eyes looked into her green ones, I knew I'd be lost in them forever and no one would be able to pull me out. I never intervened whenever my sister did her usual charades but watching the old witch harm her made me boil in anger. I was about to rush there when the girl suddenly pushed back, making the old witch fall to the ground. She never got up and I silently laughed at the look on Arya's face from where I stood, on top of a tree. It had been so long since

Chapter: Revealations[1]I stuffed the food into my mouth like there was no tomorrow and licked my fingers to indicate how delicious the meal had been. Eragon had brought me into one of the tents which were probably his and served me a plate of cooked potatoes and roasted meat. I didn't know where the meat came from or what animal had been killed to get it because I could care less now. All that mattered was my stomach that needed filling. He watched me intently as I ate like a pig but oddly I didn't feel embarrassed. It was like he wasn't even there. After I'd finished eating and licked my hands some more, he finally spoke up, "You'll be sleeping here."My eyes bulged out of its socket at his statement and just as I was about to give him a piece of mind, he stated, "You'll be sleeping here alone.", emphasising the word 'alone'.The fumes coming from my head abruptly stopped, making me visibly relax. I nodded at him and he handed me a clean blanket and some clothes. It was a shirt and a pair of trousers just

Chapter: Sacrificed?[2]I didn't dare close my eyes. It stayed open throughout the night and when the sun came out. Arya was the first to wake up this time. Marcie didn't sleep next to me like the previous night. She'd disappeared after she'd scared me yesterday. Just the mere thought of what was about to happen to me made my bones shake, until now it had seemed like something impossible. I didn't open my mouth, nor speak a word as they came for me that morning. As usual, Marcie was behind Arya but this time the scary woman with white eyes stood in front of them. Her frail hands no longer held the stick but what looked like a tree branch. She waved the branch in the air, uttering words I didn't understand. The others seemed to, because they stood in the same position as yesterday, attentively listening to her while I was left even more confused. who were these people and what was going on? If only Vlad was still alive and by my side. he would have known what to do in a situation like this. It still hurt me t
