Bitter–Sweet

Bitter–Sweet

"Just join me for a drink perhaps?" Her bushy brows rose suggestively at me. She knew my answer, she knew what I'd say. I grabbed the bottle off her scrawny hands and said "You know, for a one time thing, this has become a regular." To be honest, I was actually looking forward to meeting up with her. Not that I was going to admit it to her face. "Like therapy sessions from two dumb, ill-favored kids. Who are trying to give each other easing words." She was right. Though her stumbled movements indicated a slight intoxication. Suddenly, out of the awkward moment, she looked up at me with a sad smile and said. "I might be a street girl but is it too bad to wish for a normal life? Go to proms? Have new clothes? Shelter? Love? Do I not deserve?" Her teary eyes searched deep into my soul. I was unaware of the lack of distance between us. When did we get so close with barely an inch barrier? "Flare..." that was all I could say because then all I could feel were soft lips against mine. Her lips! And it felt so nice. Subconsciously, I grabbed her little body and went for another kiss, this time, a deeper kiss.

Chapter: Chapter Nine.
I turned off the shower, cursing inwardly with my deep breaths echoing in my bathroom. It's been a week since the incident and though every part of me was wishing for it to be all a dream, it was a real as the water dripping from me. I had kissed her. I freaking shouldn't have but what frustrated me the most was the fact no matter how hard I've tried to regret it, I couldn't. It was too fucking nice. What if she had some kinda disease? Herpes? I shunned my thoughts because I was running crazy. I had been thinking about her before because I had felt bad for saying all I did to her, but now, it's entirely different. All my mind kept drifting to was her lips, her touch, her sensual voice, the way my body came alive burning with reactions that I didn't even know existed in me.It wasn't my first time of being kissed. I had been kissed a lot in middle school and a couple times in high school. I avoided girls and everything dramatic.

Chapter: Chapter Eight
It was two days to my exam and I haven't exactly seen my parents. I rarely left my room. I really did want to prove to him that I can get accepted into Harvard. I'm not a dummy.I sighed, extremely tired and tensed. I needed a break from everything. My toxic self and the toxic environment. I haven't seen Oscar since my outburst. I heard that he was going to be back in a week which I couldn't wait for. I needed to ask him about the picture. But all aside, I needed fresh air. Outside air.I got up and pulled on my maroon coloured hoodie and black Joggers. I had a band worn across my hair to keep my hair slinged back. I grabbed my black nike slides and put them on. I pulled on my hoodie and quietly slipped out of my room.Everywhere was silent, which implied everyone was asleep and it was perfect for me to slip out into the darkness. I had no where in mind, I just wanted to walk around, under the night sky with

Chapter: Chapter Seven
My throat immediately went dry as I lowered my face, bringing it close to the textbook on the table. I trailed him from the corner of my eyes, talking to the lady behind the front desk. No doubt he was asking of me.I didn't do anything wrong, I just went to the library. Was visiting a library a crime now? I closed my eyes and secretly put on my nose mask. If he's going table by table, then it would take a while till he reaches my table. I quietly stood up, packed my books into the crook of my arm and began walking away as unsuspecting as possible. "Hey. Hey. Hey. Excuse me, where are you going?" I heard her ask. I ignored her, increasing my pace while trying to stealthily leave without him noticing. I had a hand stuffed in the pocket of my coat, eyes lowered till I made it out of the door.I made my way down the stairs and contemplated stopping a cab. Would you want to walk and get caught? Wouldn't even matter s

Chapter: Chapter Six.
The library was huge and a little occupied. People sat around with books in front of them. Finding the library wasn't hard once I had my G****e map turned on.I made my way to the lady sitting at the front desk. Her eyes glanced up to mine as she pressed her lips together tightly. "How can I help you sir?" She politely asked while silently ogling me.I rolled my eyes. Of course I had some reckless manly charm, but the ogling wasn't necessary. It put me in an uncomfortable mood. Reasons why I personally don't go out. I dislike the stares because apparently I stuck out like a sore thumb.I adjusted my nose mask and replied, "uh, historian books please. And British poetry. Also, some books on psychology would be appreciated." I briefly said. "Oh, right this way then." She smiled at me and left her post, beckoning on me to follow her, which I did with my hands stuffed in my pan

Chapter: Chapter Five
The room was immersed in wholesome silence. The only sound heard was the slight grazing of the fork against the plate one in a while. My eyes stayed glued to the fork in my hand, my breathing was weirdly slow, unlike usual. My tongue played in my dry mouth as my mind drifted back to Flare, my conversation with her today, her hurt look on her face, her notes. I didn't over do it, did I?My mind drifted further down memoryville as echoes of her laughter, flashes of her smile and flashes of my own smile when I was with her. There was sincere peace in my eyes when I was with her. I could voice out and not feel judged. I could drop the whole trying to be the perfect kid born to classy parents. But it was for the best. I was way out of her league. And for my status, I'm actually still shit. I'm anything like the regal rich kids you see. All proper and perfect. I was the direct opposite in crucial ways.

Chapter: Chapter Four
Awkwardly I knocked and awaited her approval."Come in." Her soft voice was domineering.I gently let myself in, shutting the door after me. I glanced around the cream colored room, everything was impeccable; neat and well arranged. "Sit." A one command that made me subconsciously glance around for her white leather sofa and reluctantly sit on it.I tapped my hands against my thighs and waited for her words or rather, contemplated confronting her for going through my stuff. Or maybe you shouldn't. She's your mother and she has every right to you know. Along with that, I couldn't help but scoff. "You got what you wanted, didn't you?" Those words came out sooner than I could process them and take them back. She gently put down her tea cup on her saucer then placed the saucer on her silver tray before lowering it on to the nightstand. Her lids fluttered as she stared at me in an intense yet different mann

Chapter: Chapter Seven: Patience and hindrance.
"What happened?" Giselle stared at Lucien who was carrying a limp, muddy young lady in his arms. The mud on her stained his clothes as he stood in the living, his eyes staring at Giselle and the girl in his arms at a loss for words. "Panic attack, she passed out." He stared at the girl in his arms and back and Giselle. "Giselle, please come have her. I'm afraid I am already stressed out about all this and I do think I'm just about ready to vomit any moment from now…" his plain voice held a slight hint of disgust and complete honesty. Giselle rushed to his side, gently picking up the human in his arms before Lucien actually does vomit on her. She knew he wasn't joking. "Why does she smell like farm poop?" Her nose wrinkled as the smell washed her insides clean, rendering her with the option of emptying her breakfast. Now she understood why Lucien looked disgusted. The smell was awful. "Because she has been in contact with it. I found her tiling the soil and judging by the mud on he

Chapter: Chapter Six: Hello to the truth.
Grudging steps came into the kitchen and Giselle immediately turned, strands of her ombre locks falling into her parted lips. She tucked her loose, wild strands behind her ear with a smile, "good morning, had a nice night?" She wiped her hands on a napkin and turned to the fridge, she fixed herself in front of it and began searching for heaven knows what. He sighed and averted his eyes from her slender figure. "Ahh, here we are," he heard her say as she retracted her head with a triumphant smile, "Thought we forgot to restock on this," she waved the pack of jalapenos at him.He kissed his teeth dryly and darted to the seats lined in front of the kitchen counter and sat down. "You did…" he rose his heavy eyes to stare at her, "It was a last minute pop-in." She approached him and roughened his hair, "what will I do without you?" "Oh, spare me this morning Giselle." His voice was heavy and extremely hoarse."Rough night?" She asked while dicing the jalapenos into tiny rings."Hm. More

Chapter: Chapter Five: Contemplation and decisions.
Quietness. Absolute quietness. Silence washed over the living room as he sat on a couch, knees slightly apart with his elbows resting on them and his chin rested on the harness he had created with his interlaced finger.Giselle stared at him, at a lose for words at his confession earlier. He hasn't said a word after that, just marched into the house, plopped himself down onto the couch, preferring to reverie in his troubles alone than to speak. She was drifting in silence, still unsure if she had heard right.Lucien hated humans and he avoided them as much as he avoided his fellow Vampires. Though the hate was a thousand times more on the side of the humans. So why on earth would he speak of the old code of Vampires? Why would he ask if she knew how to break it?She stared at him, her expression a mixture of everything shocked and utterly confused. She opened her mouth to let her curious questions fly out like fierce bullets but couldn't muster the will to. Her eyes flickered around t

Chapter: Chapter Four: Old codes
Grabbing what was left of the list Giselle had put in his head, he put them in the cart and pushed it to the check out point. There appeared to be a long queue and Lucien shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose, while stealing a look at the leather wristwatch adorning his wrist. It was five minutes to 4pm and he couldn't believe that two hours had been wasted shopping for food. Time was a meaningless blur these days. In his defence, food was a delicate thing and selecting ingredients for it required patience and articulation, observation and survey. The canned food took most of his time in honesty. He had carefully read the branding on each can of food that piqued his interest. And from the queue, he could tell another hour in this store is guaranteed. Placing himself on the other line that had just been created to make the check-out process faster, he scanned around for any tall black haired lady clad in a yellow tank top and ripped baggy jeans. He had expected that she'd ha

Chapter: Chapter three: Approach
The room echoed with the melancholic tunes being played on a piano. He sat, his fingers tapping away on the keys, combining notes to create a melody. His attention immersed in the song he was bringing to life. He always was creative with instruments, knowing how to twist notes to relay the music he had in head to the world. "Someone is in a good mood." He stopped immediately and turned to find Giselle behind him with two cups in her hands emitting steam. She walked up to him and dropped one by the edge of the piano for him. She found a chair and pulled it close to have a sit next to him. Blowing on her tea, she brimmed with a smile as she listened to him continue to play. "I didn't hear you come back home last night." She dropped her cup and turned to him. Lucien sat quietly, raking his eyes over the the keyboard quickly, intuitively knowing which key to press next to match the music in his head. "That's because I never left." He moved his hands slowly, feeling his harmony come to an

Chapter: Chapter 2: Regret.
He sat by the window, eyes trained on the ceiling. It's been weeks since he fed, he needed to feed, his body was in desperate need of it. This was the longest he has gone without eating, two weeks. His animalistic side was calling to him, reminding him that if he wasn't going to do it himself while in control, he'd lose control and still do it. But he refused his primal urges, shutting his eyes to restrain himself, fighting a silent battle inside him. He was punishing him, he needed to feel redemption, to atone for his sins or so he believed. And starving himself was the greatest punishment. A guttural growl escaped his throat, the beast in him threatening to take control. He had chosen to go on that stroll three days ago, to distract himself from the growing hunger and increased weakness. If not for the fact that he had to dive into the water to save that girl, he could have still had a little bit of energy and a lesser hunger to deal with. A scream from him boomed in the room, his

Chapter: Author's Note.
Hey lovelies, thank you all for giving this book a chance. I'm sorry for slow updates. Honestly, the reason things have been slow for me is mainly because I'm now in Nursing school so I have less time to write now. Also, I've been properly editing and rewriting this very story as I plan to do with others. I have better equipments now so less typos for everyone, 'cause honestly that stuff is very embarrassing. All in all, to everyone that gave this book a read and contributed to it, I'm really grateful. It means so much to me. Thanks for the support, you guys don't know how much it helps with anxiety and depression. ❤❤

Chapter: 31.
Audrey:I was speechless, standing frozen to the ground. My mouth ran dry as my eyes slowly left Asher's tensed figure to land on the slender beauty that stood staring at me with a very coy smile. Everything about her spelt dangerous, her aura had a certain kind of cool chill and draw. Better put, if she was a drug, she'd be one of those drugs the doctor would tell you would give you euphoria and get you addicted, but is very dangerous to your health.I didn't doubt why Enzo would have ever been attracted to her. She had a magnetic pull, she was pretty and her voice was seductive without effort. Suddenly my heart slowly began pounding in my chest. I didn't know why I was feeling like this, she was his Ex. They aren't together anymore. But then, a small very wicked voice was slithering vile words into my head. Why was she back? Was Enzo aware? If he knew, Asher wouldn't have been as shocked and perplexed as he was now because Enzo would have told him. Bullshit! Kimora was back, Bentley

Chapter: 30.
Audrey: "Get your ass out of that bed right now Audrey." I groaned as Asher kept tugging on my leg in an attempt to pull me out of the bed. I was freaking tired. I stood for three hours in a miserable practical session and let me just tell you that it was awful. My whole legs were stiff and numb and my back aching. My hair was a mess from the constant whipping of my neck around and loosening of my rubber band when my head began to throb. Honestly, considering the fact that Asher and I were in the same group, I was seriously wondering how he still had the energy to try to get me out of bed and the stamina to still stand. "I'm fucking tired Asher." I groaned out in my most hoarse voice, which was not my fault because I was tired. Have I said that before?"Tired, smired. Get your ass out of that bed young lady. The game is in an hour and you promised Bent you'd be there. Also, let's not forget the fact that you'd also want to see someone else." His tone was suggestive and that did the

Enzo:"So officially Mr Larson is off my great understanding chart..." I strolled past Daniel with a can of soda in my hands, who seemed to be doing a double check on the contents packed into his backpack. "that man kept raging on and on about haemoglobin and it's use in the body, moving the pictures on the slideshow indecisively— from big zoom to normal again. I swear by the time an hour was over, my eyes were begging for mercy and my head throbbing. I don't know what made him like that this week, but it's either the topics really get to him or, he's just going through a phase." He sighed in exasperation, rubbing the pad of his index fingers on the sides of his head.I tapped away on my phone, forgetting the fact that I had company and he seemed to be talking to me."Dude... You weren't listening were you?" Daniel deadpanned, cocking a brow at the obvious. He cast his eyes down to catch a peek at the phone in my hands. I sat, tapping the bottom side of the phone against my thigh, ack

Enzo:My eyes fluttered open and my hands went to run my fingers through my hair. I turned to the little human snuggling into me. Her arms wrapped around my torso, her legs intertwined with mine, her knee brushing across my member. Her brown locks were sprawled across her face, strands slipping into her slightly parted lips.I felt warmth crawl into my heart as I kept staring at her with admiration, care, amusement and love. She fit so much into my arms. It's been a while since I've felt like this, since I've woken up like this, with so much emotion. I felt at peace whenever I was with her. She was a bundle of cuteness. Conversations with her were always the best, I always looked forward to them.I pulled her closer, hearing her moan in her sleep and shift. I stifled a chuckle, wanting not to wake her up. I brought my hands to her face, lightly brushing her wild strands from her face. I have never felt like this since after her. I willed my mind to leave the dreaded memories and focus

Audrey:A deep sound at the back of his throat, erupted an excited moan from me. My heart was beating twice as fast as his lips moved against mine. His mouth swallowed my gasp and used it as an opportunity to gain more access into my mouth. His tongue fought for dominance against mine and at that moment, all my rationality and principles flew out of the fucking window. My body melted into his like butter under intense heat. I couldn't resist it anymore, I traced my hands from his face and finally entangled them in his dark curls. I was right, they were soft and smelled like him, like Vanilla. His hands sneaking to my waist and snaking themselves around it, he hoisted me up and settled me on his thighs. His fingers tightened it's grip around me, digging into my waist. His breathing growing slower, harder and more furious. He let a throaty groan escape his throat when I accidentally bit his lower lip. "Fuck!" He breathed, pulling me even closer."Sorry." I whispered shyly, peeking at hi
