When Eleanor came to, she was in a void that seemed like an endless canvas of white. Was this what heaven looked like?
She looked down at herself. She was barefoot, wearing a white dress. She touched her chest. There was no wound. No pain.
She looked around. There was nothing but white. Where was she?
"Eleanor."
She turned around, shocked by the sudden voice. There was a woman standing in front of her. There had been no one there a few moments ago.
The woman was tall, with curly golden hair that fell past her shoulders and to the small of her back. She was the most beautiful woman Eleanor had ever seen. She seemed to radiate brilliance, and Eleanor had to squint as she looked at her.
Was she an angel? Was she here to lead her to the afterlife?
"Who are you?" Eleanor questioned.
"Selene, the Moon Goddess."
Eleanor blinked. She had to be dreaming. Or she had to have died and... Right. She was dead. She was truly dead. "The Moon Goddess?" she whispered.
The deity who was responsible for werewolves' existence?
"Yes," the woman replied, "and I'm here to offer you a chance for reincarnation."
Eleanor was still not over the shock of her identity, so the announcement confused her even further. "Reincarnation?"
"If you accept it, you'll come back to life in your old life."
Her old life? Where the love of her life betrayed her and her pack turned against her? No. She couldn't go through that kind of pain again.
Seeing her hesitance, the goddess added, "It will be a chance to change your fate. Your rebirth will also have a significant impact on the pack. If you truly care about the pack, you'll not refuse this chance. I would not have bothered to come to you personally if your rebirth was not important for the continuation of the werewolves."
A chance to change her fate. If she was truly reborn, she would have the opportunity to fix everything. Maybe she would be able to stop things from getting to the point that had led to her execution.
"Your death is a curse upon the race, and the entire werewolf community will face extinction. You have not fulfilled your purpose on earth, and this will lead to changes that history has yet to see. If you die, there will be nothing to stop the disaster awaiting your people. But if you live, your rebirth will be the catalyst for bringing peace."
Eleanor mulled over Selene's words. This was not just about fixing what had gone wrong with her life. It concerned the entire race. How could she say no?
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
She would have the opportunity to face the people who led to her death and also protect her community from whatever disaster the goddess spoke of.
"I accept," she told Selene. "I'll be reborn."
There was a flash of white light, and then, in the next instant, Eleanor woke up in bed. She gasped for breath as she sat up and looked around.
She was in her bedroom at the pack. The bedroom she shared with Thomas. She left the bed and looked around.
She still remembered everything. Mia's accusations, Thomas killing her, and meeting Selene in the void.
She had really been reborn!
She rushed to the window and looked outside.
She noticed old decorations from her wedding with Thomas that were still to be removed. So she had been reincarnated at the time shortly after they got married. She was twenty years old again.
The door opened and she turned around just as Thomas walked in.
He stood at the door and smiled at her. "Morning, love."
Seeing him threw her heart into a frenzy. He was smiling, but all she could see was the cold look in his eyes as he pierced her heart with a sword.
In this life, they were still a loving couple, crazy in love with each other. She wasn't hot-headed to pay for her precious life to kill an Alpha now.
She walked from the window and approached him. "Morning," she greeted as he kissed her cheek.
"I just got back," he said. "I dealt with the rogues, they won't be a nuisance for a while." He wrapped his arms around her, drawing her close to his body. "Now, I can spend all my time with my new bride without worrying about stupid rogues."
He lowered his head and kissed her on the mouth. It took her a couple of seconds to return the kiss. Fortunately, he pulled away after a few seconds.
"There's something I have to tell you," he said, reaching for her hand. "Come."
He led her from their bedroom and to the living room. There was a woman standing there, dressed in worn bloodied clothes.
"I found her on the battlefield," he told Eleanor. He released her hand and walked over to the woman. She watched as he placed his hands on her shoulder and said, "Hey, it's okay."
Eleanor held her breath. She hadn't seen her face yet, but she already knew who it was.
She could remember this day from her old life. It was when Thomas had brought Mia home.
Thomas guided Mia to face Eleanor. "This is Mia. I saved her from the rogues." He looked down at the woman. "She happens to be my fated mate."
Eleanor swallowed. She had married Thomas knowing they were not fated. None of them had found their mates, but they had chosen each other. Now, he had found his.
How could she, in her previous life, have allowed him to keep her around?
She had been so trusting. They loved each other deeply and she never imagined he would leave her just because he found his fated one.
Now, she knew better.
"I decided to bring her back home," he continued, putting his arm around Mia. "She doesn't have anywhere to go."
In her past life, Eleanor had agreed. Mia had looked pitiful, as she did now. A poor Omega rogue with nowhere to go? Eleanor had been kind enough to ignore her connection to Thomas to let her stay.
But now, Eleanor knew there was nothing pitiful about the woman. She was pretending to be weak and helpless so they could sympathise with her.
The moment Eleanor allowed her to stay, she would start scheming on how to ruin their life.
Eleanor met Thomas's gaze. Resolutely, she said, "No. She cannot stay."
Thomas's face creased in confusion. He hadn't expected Eleanor to say no to his suggestion. She had never resisted him before and always supported his decisions unconditionally. What was wrong? He let go of Mia and approached his Luna. He took her hands and noted how she looked at him with stubborn eyes, as if nothing he could say would change her mind."Ella," he called her softly by the nickname he used with her, "I know you might think she'll take your position as Luna, but that will never happen. You are my Luna, the only she-wolf I want by my side. You don't have to be worried about that."Eleanor lowered her gaze. The way he sounded and the way he looked at her, no one would imagine that he would eventually betray her in the most cruel way.Anger, disappointment, sadness - a mix of emotions swept over her, making her nose tingle and eyes ache with unshed tears. But she gritted her teeth, telling herself she couldn't let them go this time!"Come on, Eleanor," he coaxed. "We've gro
"Harper, are you there?" Once outside, Eleanor called out for her wolf."Harper?" Eleanor called again."Yes... I'm here." Finally, Harper responded on the third call."It hasn't been easy, Eleanor, we both know what we've been through," Harper said sadly."Fortunately, the Moon Goddess has pitied our experiences and given us a chance to rewrite our lives..." Eleanor continued, picking up the conversation."But..." Harper hesitated, and Eleanor sensed something was wrong. "Harper, what's wrong?""Ah..." Harper sighed and finally said, "Thomas's betrayal has weakened me. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to appear whenever you need me. Worse still, after we break the bond with Thomas, we must find our true mate, or I will fade away forever."What?! This was shocking news. Finding a mate was a difficult task, and she hadn't found one in her previous life. "So we must speed up the process of reclaiming our pack," Eleanor said, her pace quickening. She needed to clear her head. As they e
The Darkfall PackThe Darkfall Pack was the most powerful pack in the northern region. No other pack had ever survived a confrontation with them, thanks to their formidable Alpha Henry. As a cold and domineering Alpha, only those who wished for death dared to cross his path. He trained his warriors rigorously, treating every training session as a real battle. He reminded his warriors not to have any false hopes in any war. He also gave she-wolves equal opportunities for training. Although physically, she-wolves might not be as strong as males, they possessed unparalleled judgment and focus that males lacked. With enough desire, they could defeat male wolves of the same rank. His bold approach had made his pack increasingly formidable. At the moment, the training grounds resounded with the huffing and puffing of punches, like the thundering of thousands of horses. The warriors' feet were soaked with sweat.Beta Ethan stood alongside Alpha Henry, both satisfied with the training results.
Eleanor looked at her phone in frustration. Alpha Henry had hung up on her!It pissed her off, but she wasn't surprised. After all, his reputation as cold and without compassion was not just hearsay. Her shoulders slumped. Without Alpha Henry's support, her chances of victory would be halved! She was about to dial Ethan's number again, but then she saw the text message from him."Alpha Henry will attend the Alpha meeting. I'll arrange for you to meet. Beta Ethan."Eleanor's eyes brightened. She needed to think carefully about what she would do to convince Alpha Henry to support her once they met. But before that, she needed to prepare a perfect outfit. Who could resist the tears of a sexy woman? As she dialed Sophia's number, Sophia's shed sad tears. She knew Eleanor was a strong woman who was accustomed to protecting others, which made her hesitant to call Eleanor. Sophia couldn't resist cursing Thomas again. "That heartless brute, he's destined to hit a brick wall."Eleanor smiled an
Eleanor was in her room preparing to go to bed when the door opened without a knock. Thomas walked into the room, his expression showing that he was about to start a fight.Eleanor stood from her seat at the vanity and faced him. "What do you want?"He had not shown up in their bedroom since that day he announced he would be taking Mia to the party."What's wrong with you?" he asked, giving her a disgusted look. "Why can't you just leave Mia alone? Why do you insist on causing trouble for her?"Eleanor crossed her arms over her chest and paced. So it was about what happened at the store. Of course, the rogue had gone crying to her mate and now he was here to scold her."What do you mean? What have I done?"Thomas moved to stand in her way. "Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Mia ran into you at the store today, and you humiliated her in front of everybody."Eleanor arched an eyebrow. "I gave her the dress I'd chosen for myself because she liked it so much. How does t
Ethan looked around, searching for his Alpha's position. He was on the other side of the room, conversing with two other Alphas. His eyes, however, were directed at Eleanor.Ethan's brow dipped slightly as a troubling thought crossed his mind. Henry was looking for a red-haired she-wolf he had come across in Blackstorm's territory. He didn't often ask about she-wolves. Could it be that he had recognised her? Was Eleanor the she-wolf his Alpha had been searching for all along?"She is the Luna from Blackstorm pack who called wanting to see you," Ethan told him honestly.Luna from Blackstorm pack? Alpha Henry felt like he had been struck by lightning. The mate he had been waiting for had been marked by another Alpha! But how could he smell her scent? The moment she had walked into the room, he had recognised her as the red-haired she-wolf he had come across in Blackstorm's territory. But he had assumed she was just a high-ranking she-wolf from Blackstorm, as her partner wasn't Alpha Thom
"Calm down!" Henry had to silence Kai and he forcibly severed the link between them. He needed to understand the reason behind Eleanor's actions."Tell me, why? From what I've heard, you love your husband, Alpha Thomas." As Henry spoke the word 'love', his heart ached uncontrollably. He couldn't accept the fact that his mate had chosen another Alpha, instead of waiting for him."Yes, I love him. But I have to break our mark because my husband, Alpha Thomas, has found his mate." Eleanor answered in a sad voice.Upon hearing Eleanor admit that she loved Alpha Thomas, Henry felt as if his heart had been punched hard. He couldn't contain his anger and said, "Is this your reason for wanting to replace him as the Alpha of Blackstorm? You should have seen this coming. Werewolves always choose their destined mate unconditionally. You have no reason to hate him or even be so malicious as to usurp his pack."Eleanor fell silent. She knew, but she thought that her bond with Thomas would overcome
"What are you doing?" eleanor started at his eyes calmly, suppressing the panic inside. Only one step left, she had to win his support. He looked down at her, his dark eyes penetrating her green ones. It was enough to leave her breathless. Looking into his eyes at such proximity, she forgot for a moment what was going on around her.The noises from the party downstairs faded as all her senses became attuned to the powerful male holding her. She sucked in a breath, taking a deep inhale of his scent.Something nagged at the corner of her brain. There was something familiar about his scent. As if she had encountered it before. But she had never met him before, so how?He leaned down, his face getting closer and closer. Her heart thundered in her chest. What was he doing? She broke their gaze. She was hoping to break the trance he had put her in, but then her eyes landed on his lips.Instead of distracting her enough to break the spell he had on her, they made her even more flustered. Soft
