When Eleanor came to, she was in a void that seemed like an endless canvas of white. Was this what heaven looked like?
She looked down at herself. She was barefoot, wearing a white dress. She touched her chest. There was no wound. No pain.
She looked around. There was nothing but white. Where was she?
"Eleanor."
She turned around, shocked by the sudden voice. There was a woman standing in front of her. There had been no one there a few moments ago.
The woman was tall, with curly golden hair that fell past her shoulders and to the small of her back. She was the most beautiful woman Eleanor had ever seen. She seemed to radiate brilliance, and Eleanor had to squint as she looked at her.
Was she an angel? Was she here to lead her to the afterlife?
"Who are you?" Eleanor questioned.
"Selene, the Moon Goddess."
Eleanor blinked. She had to be dreaming. Or she had to have died and... Right. She was dead. She was truly dead. "The Moon Goddess?" she whispered.
The deity who was responsible for werewolves' existence?
"Yes," the woman replied, "and I'm here to offer you a chance for reincarnation."
Eleanor was still not over the shock of her identity, so the announcement confused her even further. "Reincarnation?"
"If you accept it, you'll come back to life in your old life."
Her old life? Where the love of her life betrayed her and her pack turned against her? No. She couldn't go through that kind of pain again.
Seeing her hesitance, the goddess added, "It will be a chance to change your fate. Your rebirth will also have a significant impact on the pack. If you truly care about the pack, you'll not refuse this chance. I would not have bothered to come to you personally if your rebirth was not important for the continuation of the werewolves."
A chance to change her fate. If she was truly reborn, she would have the opportunity to fix everything. Maybe she would be able to stop things from getting to the point that had led to her execution.
"Your death is a curse upon the race, and the entire werewolf community will face extinction. You have not fulfilled your purpose on earth, and this will lead to changes that history has yet to see. If you die, there will be nothing to stop the disaster awaiting your people. But if you live, your rebirth will be the catalyst for bringing peace."
Eleanor mulled over Selene's words. This was not just about fixing what had gone wrong with her life. It concerned the entire race. How could she say no?
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
She would have the opportunity to face the people who led to her death and also protect her community from whatever disaster the goddess spoke of.
"I accept," she told Selene. "I'll be reborn."
There was a flash of white light, and then, in the next instant, Eleanor woke up in bed. She gasped for breath as she sat up and looked around.
She was in her bedroom at the pack. The bedroom she shared with Thomas. She left the bed and looked around.
She still remembered everything. Mia's accusations, Thomas killing her, and meeting Selene in the void.
She had really been reborn!
She rushed to the window and looked outside.
She noticed old decorations from her wedding with Thomas that were still to be removed. So she had been reincarnated at the time shortly after they got married. She was twenty years old again.
The door opened and she turned around just as Thomas walked in.
He stood at the door and smiled at her. "Morning, love."
Seeing him threw her heart into a frenzy. He was smiling, but all she could see was the cold look in his eyes as he pierced her heart with a sword.
In this life, they were still a loving couple, crazy in love with each other. She wasn't hot-headed to pay for her precious life to kill an Alpha now.
She walked from the window and approached him. "Morning," she greeted as he kissed her cheek.
"I just got back," he said. "I dealt with the rogues, they won't be a nuisance for a while." He wrapped his arms around her, drawing her close to his body. "Now, I can spend all my time with my new bride without worrying about stupid rogues."
He lowered his head and kissed her on the mouth. It took her a couple of seconds to return the kiss. Fortunately, he pulled away after a few seconds.
"There's something I have to tell you," he said, reaching for her hand. "Come."
He led her from their bedroom and to the living room. There was a woman standing there, dressed in worn bloodied clothes.
"I found her on the battlefield," he told Eleanor. He released her hand and walked over to the woman. She watched as he placed his hands on her shoulder and said, "Hey, it's okay."
Eleanor held her breath. She hadn't seen her face yet, but she already knew who it was.
She could remember this day from her old life. It was when Thomas had brought Mia home.
Thomas guided Mia to face Eleanor. "This is Mia. I saved her from the rogues." He looked down at the woman. "She happens to be my fated mate."
Eleanor swallowed. She had married Thomas knowing they were not fated. None of them had found their mates, but they had chosen each other. Now, he had found his.
How could she, in her previous life, have allowed him to keep her around?
She had been so trusting. They loved each other deeply and she never imagined he would leave her just because he found his fated one.
Now, she knew better.
"I decided to bring her back home," he continued, putting his arm around Mia. "She doesn't have anywhere to go."
In her past life, Eleanor had agreed. Mia had looked pitiful, as she did now. A poor Omega rogue with nowhere to go? Eleanor had been kind enough to ignore her connection to Thomas to let her stay.
But now, Eleanor knew there was nothing pitiful about the woman. She was pretending to be weak and helpless so they could sympathise with her.
The moment Eleanor allowed her to stay, she would start scheming on how to ruin their life.
Eleanor met Thomas's gaze. Resolutely, she said, "No. She cannot stay."
Eleanor woke up in the morning after the coronation ceremony to the sensation of Henry’s fingers stroking down her arm. Electricity skittered across her skin from the simple contact, waking her completely.“Are you awake?” Henry asked, as if he could tell without even looking at her face, which was buried in his shoulder.“Yes,” she mumbled. He hooked his fingers under her chin and lifted her face. He smiled at her softly before kissing her on the lips. It was a soft kiss at first, but before long, it intensified into their tongues tangling together and her hand rising to sink into his hair. His hand on the other hand went lower, slipping between her legs and seeking her warm centre. She moved her legs apart, granting him easy entry. His fingers teased her nub, rubbing her until she was panting against his mouth and humping into his hand.“Please,” she pleaded, wanting to feel him inside. He pulled his hand away and before she knew it she was lying on her back and he was positioning h
was the culmination of Henry’s efforts in the past few months, which had seen him rise to the position of the Alpha King of the South. While Blackstorm started rebuilding and putting things back in order, Henry had gotten busy strengthening Darkfall’s territory. The alliance with Jonathan had left most of the rogue packs around Darkfall weak. They had sacrificed most of their warriors and funds in plotting against Darkfall and Blackstorm and helping Jonathan wage his war. They had been promised territories and titles, but with the hybrid’s defeat, all they had gotten were losses. This made it easier for Henry to conquer and absorb them without extending a lot of effort. He also took over Alpha Elroy’s pack, making it part of Darkfall. In the months that followed, he had not faced any serious threat, and Darkfall thrived and became the most powerful pack in the southern region. Soon, all the packs in the region selected him as the Alpha King of the South, asserting his dominance and Da
The next day, members from the two packs–Eleanor’s and Thomas’s–gathered in the square, awaiting Mia’s trial. Word about her involvement with the hybrid attackers had spread, and everybody was looking forward to her sentence. Her execution would close a chapter everybody wanted to forget and move on from. After that, it would be time to rebuild the pack, as one, to what it was before all the chaos.Mia was tied to a post, with wood arranged beneath her feet. She struggled against the rope around her hands and feet as she cried out, claiming innocence. “She is only doing this because of jealousy!” she screamed so that the people gathered could hear her. “She killed Alpha Thomas because he chose me instead of her, and now she wants to kill me and his only heir.”“Witch!” someone in the crowd yelled and pelted a stone at her. “Shut your filthy lying mouth!”“There were many witnesses present when you killed Alpha Thomas,” one of the warriors who were with Thomas that day said, “and even
It was then that it occurred to Eleanor that she had not heard from Miller since she came back. She had been communicating with Sophia all along. If something bad had happened to him, Sophia would have told her, right?“Hey, have you seen Miller?” she decided to ask Henry. He had been at the pack before the attacks so she thought he might have an idea about her Gamma’s whereabouts. “I haven’t heard from him or seen him anywhere.”Henry sighed, his chest shifting beneath her. “Did you ever find it funny how he agreed to become your Gamma?”Eleanor frowned and shook her head. “What? Why? No, I…he had promised to support me no matter what, and he wanted the best for the pack. He knew Sophia would be my Beta all along and was okay with the position he got.”“So you think he was just being selfless, giving up his position as the Beta of Blackstorm to be your Gamma?” Henry asked her.Well, there was that, but there was also the fact that Miller had confessed to having feelings for her.Even
Henry deepened the kiss, his lips moving against hers with strong strokes. Their bodies, pressed against each other with nothing in between, lit on fire as a burning passion passed between and through them.Eleanor pushed him back into a tree, trapping him there while her hands roamed his muscular body. “Will anyone miss you if I lock you up in a room with me for the next one year?” she asked when they pulled back to catch their breaths.“They’ll just have to do without me,” he replied as she pressed her lips to his face. She trailed kisses from his temple and down to his lips, where she only teased him before moving on down to his jaw. He tipped his head back into the tree as she continued on to his throat. He groaned in pleasure when she wrapped her lips around his Adam’s apple and sucked. While she tormented him with her lips, he ran his hands down her back until they reached her ass.He squeezed her cheeks and pressed her forward, letting her feel his hot erection against her bell
Elroy cracked his neck as he smiled arrogantly. “Once you lose, your territory will become mine.”Good luck, Eleanor thought, wishing he would shut up already. Her wolf growled and hit her paw on the ground, letting him know that he was wasting time blabbering. He seemed to get the message because he shifted back to his wolf form and faced her.Henry got out of the way and the two rushed at each other, growling. They met mid-air and crashed into one another before falling to the ground. Elroy’s wolf lunged for her throat but Harper was quick on her feet and got away. She went straight for his hind leg and snapped it between her fangs. Elroy’s wolf howled and violently pulled himself away, the scent of his blood filling the air.Eleanor wished she could taunt him then, ask him whether he was sure he wanted to go ahead with this. Taunting him like that would make him see red and attack out of spite without caution. It would be a quick way to end this battle. She settled for regarding hi
