Athena's POV
I'm Athena Hunter, an Omega from the Crimson Pack, and today marks the darkest day of my existence. From the moment I entered this world, misery has been my constant companion. The identity of my biological father remains a mystery to me as he died before my birth. Shortly after i was born, my mother remarried a man indifferent to my existence. Today, he intends to pay a debt by sacrificing me to a cruel Alpha King."Please, Father, save me from this cruel fate," I pleaded through tearful sobs. His gaze met mine, filled with utter disdain."Pray to the moon goddess that the Alpha King takes a liking to you, or else we'll all be waiting for our demise at his hands," he said with anger etched on his face.My heart plummeted into my stomach, knowing his words were blunt and true. Glancing at my mother, our eyes met briefly, but she averted her gaze.Hurriedly, I approached her in my kneeling posture, gripping onto one of her legs. "Mother, please, talk to Father. I don't want to be given to the alpha king," I cried, desperately hoping she'd hear my plea and intervene just this once."Listen to your father! He's only looking out for us all," she replied coldly, shaking my hand off her leg, causing me to tumble backward to the ground. Her indifference towards me had been consistent since she married my stepfather. He was her sole concern.I felt like nothing more than a burden from her past. How could she treat me like this? Standing there passively, she will allow my stepfather trade me off to the cruelest king alive, treating me as if I were a mere slave?"Let us go!" my stepfather commanded, heading toward the door. "We don't want to provoke the Alpha King." He expected me to follow, but I remained rooted in place. My feet refused to budge, as if glued to the ground. "Moon goddess, please, let him reconsider," I frightfully prayed within me.His furious glare bore into me as he advanced. Every muscle tensed, anticipating the storm of his anger. As he approached, I instinctively shielded my face and body with my hands, cowering on the floor, bracing for a beating that never arrived. Slowly looking up, I found him towering over me, eyes filled with rage."Get up!" he growled. I hastily rose to my feet, nearly staggering. He clutched my hand and forcefully pulled me along. His grip on my hand was painfully tight."Father, please! I'm in pain!" I screamed, attempting to free my hand from his tight grip but all that did was worsen my agony. What should I do now? I had to think quickly, act swiftly."Calm down, Athena. Go with him. The Alpha King can't be that bad," my wolf whispered. She didnt understand the gravity of the situation. She failed to comprehend the horrors I'd heard about that king—his brutality reached unthinkable levels. Rumors spoke of him yanking a baby from its mother's womb with his claws. His cruelty knew no bounds.I trembled at the thought as my father dragged me toward the door and out of our house. Once outside, he shoved me into the back of the vehicle and headed towards the driver's seat. It was my chance. Every instinct screamed, "Run!"Rushing to the opposite end of the back seat, I opened the door and ran. My stepfather spotted me, cursing furiously as he chased, "You coward! Just wait until I catch you!" I sprinted as fast as my legs could carry me, heading straight for the bushes.Suddenly, his hand seized me, sending shivers down my spine. I was absolutely terriffied of what he would do to me. He gripped my throat, lifting me off the ground, choking the life out of me.I fought, striking his hand and pleading for him to let me go. He threw me to the ground, the agony of the impact searing through my body. I tried to rise but weakness overcame me."Next time, you'll reconsider before defying me, that is if there is a next time " he hoisted me up, draping my limp form over his shoulder. My hands hung wearily behind him, and I groaned from pain."Thud!" echoed the sound of me being tossed onto the unforgiving seat of his car, accompanied by searing pain that radiated through my entire body. My wolf whimpered, sensing my distress. After what felt like an eternity, we arrived at the palace. He parked outside, exited the car, and approached the back seat, his gaze filled with menace as he stared at me."Come down!" he ordered sharply. The earlier pains had vanished, thanks to my swift healing ability which surpassed that of most wolves. Cautiously, I got down from the vehicle, fearing the consequences of any delay. At the gate, two imposing figures blocked our path. Both muscular, one short and the other tall, they clearly formed part of the security detail for the ruthless Alpha king."What brings you here?" the shorter one asked with a harsh tone."I'm Robert Hunter, here to meet the Alpha king," my father replied, showing no sign of intimidation. The men exchanged knowing glances before opening the door, proof that they were aware of my father's arrival tonight. We were led into a grand hall. Though magnificent, I couldn't muster any interest. If anything, I wished for this night to end so I could go back home."Moon goddess, I beg for one thing: let the Alpha king reject me as a slave for the debt," I silently prayed."This place is stunning; I wouldn't mind living here forever," my wolf, Elsa, sounded enthusiastic. I didnt blame her—if only she understood the condition of things, her excitement wouldn't persist."Wait here; the king will join you soon," the man who escorted us announced. My father nodded in acknowledgment, and the man turned around and left.Minutes later, robust, measured footsteps approached from behind. Fear gripped me; I hesitated to turn. It had to be the Alpha king.Only my father could see him as had his face to him."I see you've come to settle your debt as agreed, Robert. Now, where is my money?" The Alpha king's icy voice sent shivers down my spine.~AthenaA feast was being held at the mansion with the whole pack in attendance. The gardens were filled with people from the resettlement area while the king, his dignitaries, and elders were in the great hall dining. There was plenty of food and drinks for everyone. It has been one month since I gave birth to my three little warriors. On the day i gave birth to them, my life changed completely. I felt a kind of inner peace that I had never felt before as they were laid beside me on the bed. All the pain I experienced while birthing them suddenly disappeared and was replaced with an unspeakable kind of joy.I had thought I was going to have just one kid. Throughout my pregnancy, I never went for an antenatal checkup even though Richard had suggested it a few times. I was very healthy and strong, so I didn't feel the need to go…maybe if I had, the doctor would have found out I was going to have triplets. My father and stepmother arrived a day after hearing the news, and my stepmother
~RichardSitting at the head of the dining table, I looked to my right and left at the two most important people to me in the world... One was heavily pregnant, looking like she was about to pop any minute, and the other was infectiously cheerful tonight because he had made a bold move, disregarding his fears, and it paid off big time.A few months ago, per my advice, James had told Nuella about his strong feelings for her. To his utter shock, she had revealed she fell head over heels for him from the first moment she set eyes on him in that dungeon. Their relationship blossomed quickly. I saw my best friend become the best version of himself. Nuella completely changed him and made him so much happier than I had seen him in years. I was eternally grateful to her. Fast forward months down the line, James told me he was finally ready to make that big move. I was so happy for him, and here we are now.He asked her to marry him, and she accepted his proposal. Two young bloods specially
~AthenaIt was a Monday morning. Richard drove me to the hospital after I complained about being sick. He left me in the care of the doctor as he had an important errand to run with James."I will be back in two hours, love," he said as he kissed my forehead. After he left, the doctor asked me what exactly was wrong with me, and I told him the symptoms I had been having for the past few days. I had kept them to myself as I didn't want to trouble Richard or anyone else. Today was quite different, unfortunately. I felt very lightheaded and weak and was unable to get out of bed until Richard came to my rescue and insisted on taking me to the hospital himself. The doctor took a sample of my blood and left. After a few minutes, he came back, a bubbly smile stretching his lips.I sat upright on the bed where I was resting, wondering why he was looking happy."Queen Athena, I bring you good news," he said cheerfully. I narrowed my eyes at him in surprise, as I thought of what good news he c
~RichardThe effects of the war have taken their toll on my kingdom these past few weeks. It will really take a long time to get over all that has happened, all because one silly man thought it was wise to avenge the death of his wicked, soulless brother. All the men who surrendered during the war have been put to good use rebuilding my pack, which they helped destroy. They have been allotted different duties in the pack. Some were sent to farms to become laborers and help the people in rural areas till the lands, plant crops, and harvest them. Others were sent to labor in building infrastructures, some of which were destroyed during their attacks with explosives, and so on.As for Alpha Gerald, after keeping him locked up for a week, I set him free, along with his men. He cried in appreciation, and we signed a peace treaty to seal the fact that we had now become allies.Today was the day of the scheduled meeting with the elders, and I still had no clue what they wanted to discuss, a
~AthenaToday, my father and his Luna will come to Black Knight Pack for my mother's burial, which is tomorrow. When he called and told me he would be coming with his Luna because she wanted to see me, I didn't know how to react to the news. All I said was, "Oh… Great.""She is a good woman, Athena. You will love her," my father had said. She was supposed to be my stepmother, but I was feeling quite nervous about seeing her.It has already been two weeks since the war was fought. Nothing is the same anymore. There is great grief all over the pack, in the resettlement area, and even in the mansion. Scores of people had lost their lives. I heard Richard and James discussing the other day, and they mentioned that the death toll had risen to 600 as bodies were still being found in different places. The only good thing about this fight was the fact that more people from the enemy pack had died. For every one lycan that was killed, four werewolves were killed too. So the ratio was 1:4, wh
~AthenaI was so tired but also excited about the fact that I had finally been saved by the two most important men in my life. If only my mother were alive to witness this moment, then my joy would be complete. It seemed as though the war had come to an end. Everywhere was a bit too serene. I didn't ask any questions on our way home as I was too tired to do so.When we got to the mansion, I was surprised to see a whole lot of people in front of it. They were scattered everywhere, sitting on grass and from the way they were being loomed over by some men wielding guns, I just knew they had to be from our enemy pack. We were about to make our way inside when three men from the crowd spoke one after the other. They were begging Richard to set them free. When the first had spoken, I felt a familiar dread curl up at the pit of my stomach. I brushed it off. No way! It just can't be.The second person spoke, and I still brushed it off. However, when the third person spoke, I felt that famil
